Will this one take us through to the end of the first trimester? Will the sickness ever end? Will we be able to judge genders from those first scan pictures? These and many other mysteries to be solved in... THREAD 4

OP posts:

pinksky · 26/03/2013 20:09

Sorry you're exhausted too, Hayle. Not great to be unpacking at the moment. I can't wait for the 2nd trimester, this one sucks! Saying that, DH has just brought me a cream egg, so I think that's dinner.

Smitten1981 · 26/03/2013 20:15

I just scrolled back to look Natalie I was given three pessaries, maybe I should say I need more. No chance of re infection from DH either as I've slapped a no nookie ban on after the infection and then the thrush (not that he'd want to go near that anyway). Have the pessaries worked for you? Mine got better for about 2 days but its back with avengeance.

SeriousStuff · 26/03/2013 20:17

Caz that's wonderful news.

DH is making some veg/egg-fried/rice thing (not following a recipe). It doesn't smell great and I'm sat here sipping on my Ribena in anticipation!

pinksky nope, I'm still shattered. I'm fine in the morning but lunchtime hits and I have to have a nap. Today, I couldn't because had loads of deadlines in work and nearly fell asleep in a traffic jam on the way home! Managed an hour when I got home but DH started banging round the house looking for something and woke me up - he'll need to learn he can't do that once there's a baby asleep here!

Sanjifair hope the pox disappears soon!

Natalieand · 26/03/2013 20:18

I've chosen not to use the pessary and just use the cream until 12 weeks (only one week away) I no they say they are safe to use but I just feel like if I can wait till 12 weeks I will as if anything was to go wrong I can't bare that I might be puttig myself at risk in some way I no it sounds mad haha

Smitten1981 · 26/03/2013 20:20

I know what you mean. I was worried about using them but they were fine. No harm done (I hope). I'll stick a load of cream on tonight. sob

TheFalconsmistress · 26/03/2013 20:22

Caz yey!!! glad it all went well.

roofio I don't think i have ever seen a scan so clear! amazing

I am so happy today after 4 years of trying and a few losses I have a healthy baby that 99.9% chance of leaving the hospital with me in 26 weeks time. This has to be one of the best day ever Grin

ananikifo · 26/03/2013 20:31

Just switched over to the ipad so I could view photos. roofio that's a gorgeous Ingram, a gorgeous manicure, and an enviable scan! I hope my scan looks that good! Congrats!

ananikifo · 26/03/2013 20:32

I meant gorgeous ring. Stupid autocorrect.

cazboldy · 26/03/2013 20:32

roxvox - i needed a wee when i got there, then when i realised how long i was going to have to wait i went to the loo, then had 2 small paper cups of water in the waiting room. Scan was half an hour later and it was fine

Tarlia Yes she said not allowed to refuse the injection (which i normally do) and only allowed to wait so long for it to come out before they would remove it apparently..... (not liking the sound of that!)

pinkbuttons · 26/03/2013 20:40

Hello everyone, just trying to catch up with all of your news! Haven't been able to get on for a while due to mad lives and broken phone.

Ive missed so much.
Congratulations on all the positive scans! lovely to see lots of pictures!
Double congratulations to you too roofio on your engagement, how exciting!!

So sorry to hear about your news sal wishing you all the best on your future journey.

Just ticking along here, spent the weekend telling family which was lovely but feeling a lot of pressure for this little bean to be a girl from DH's family and my Grandparents. Im still just hoping everything's ok in there.

Looking forward to hearing more good news tomorrow :)

pinksky · 26/03/2013 20:41

Falcon that's so lovely, this is one special baby, hey?

serious that's exactly how I am at the moment! Not enjoying my commute.

Re full bladders, when i rang the ultrasound people they told me not to drink too much before I go to the scan but to top up in the waiting room, otherwise I'd be too uncomfortable. I think if you're reasonably hydrated and don't have much in your tummy it should pass through pretty quickly!

Slippysnow · 26/03/2013 20:48

pinksky on my scan letter there was no mention of drinking water whatsoever. I'm getting scanned in st Thomas' in London. Long shot but Has anyone had a scan there if so did you drink beforehand? Not sure what to do may phone.

Haylebop12 · 26/03/2013 21:01

I Found a full, non-uncomfortably type full bladder was fine. My 20w scan with dd mind I was in agony and told to drink more Shock I waddled out the room I was in so much pain!

GettingObsessive · 26/03/2013 21:21

Well, scan today, and there really, truly is a baby in there!! Was so worried that there would be nothing there or that it had all gone wrong somehow. Phew!

I am also a few days further along than we thought, so EDD now 3 October, not 8th. I have updated the stats thread!

Natalieand · 26/03/2013 21:49

I can't believe we're heading for 800 messages in like one week of having this thread haha. No way will this see us through everyone's dating scans.

A friend asked me today if I had any thoughts on baby's sex I said yes I think it's a girl, she then asked how much do u think its a girl and I found myself hypothetically betting large sums of money on the fact it's a girl lol then when dh got home I said do u think this baby is a boy or girl? (Not what do u want it to be but what do u atchly think it is) and he said girl too

Roll on 20 weeks to see if I should have bet that large sum of money lol

char1eston · 26/03/2013 21:58

So sorry sal, wishing you all the best for a bfp very soon x

moonblues · 26/03/2013 22:14

Hi ladies. Congratulations on all the scans. Loving the photos.
I've got my booking appointment tomorrow afternoon (bit stressed about getting there on time as I'm working in the morning).
Then I've got my scan on the 8th, which I think makes me scan buddies with sephy, blondies, dumpling and smitten!

Sorry for everyone who's having work stress. I started a new job in January and then got pregnant pretty much straight away - oops - so I'm a bit worried about letting them know. Can't remember who was asking for advice about telling work, sorry on phone so can't look back, but I read on another thread that you should present it as good news that you're happy about and that you expect they will be happy for you too and definitely not to apologise - which had been what I was planning to do! If anyone else has any tips, please let me know.

cherrycherry41 · 26/03/2013 22:26

No chance of getting me to sleep... My scan is in 10 hours! Overly nervous Confused

Tarlia · 26/03/2013 22:26

GO congrats on the scan!

Falc sniff and hug. Making me well up, I'm really pleased for you.

caz Any chance of finding a MW the does acupuncture too? My placenta was stubborn but a little needle in each pinkie two which the MW kept knocking on her way past made it unstick in the end. Would have been sods law after avoiding an epi and having no relief at all that I'd need a placenta removal :D

You know ladies, I really do not think the thread is getting us through all f the scans... Shock

Sparkeleigh · 26/03/2013 22:35

roofio wow! Your picture is so clear, I love the way it looks like he or she is sitting back and relaxing after giving you a performance Grin Your ring is beautiful, congrats on your engagement!

Tarlia awh, the cake fork is such a lovely idea for a present!

Congrats too to Cazboldy and GettingObsesssive it's so lovely to hear good news Smile

terrifiednewbie · 26/03/2013 23:53

sal-so sorry to hear about your result. You have such an amazing attitude- i have nothing but admiration for you.

Congrats on all the good scan results-i havent figured out how to see them on my android phone but i have time off coming up (having worked over 90 hrs since last Mon i just havent the energy to try and figure it out) so will ogle all the scans then.

smitten (i think)- what dose was your canestan pessary? if your symptoms (itching/discharge/both) are back, you may be better off heading to your local sexual health/family planning clinic. They can do a quick microscopy of the discharge just to make sure it is thrush and not caused by something like BV which wont respond to antifungals but to antibiotic.

i cant remember who was asking about scans at tommy's- im booked there (scan on thurs) and i think their policy is full but not uncomfortable for first trimester, no need for full for 2nd. Im going with fairly full and bottle of water to sip from if that helps. (Also seem to be able to pee on demand as so bloated at the moment)

Iheartcrunchiebars · 27/03/2013 06:03

Hi ladies! Had my scan yesterday which was really exciting. Baby appeared very quickly on the screen and did a few waves and kicked its legs a lot!

Will have to go for another scan in a few weeks for some more tests but I'm not too worried about that.

I've gone back 5 days so now I'm just 11,1 which is annoying!!

It was magical though. Me and DH definitely reckon its a girl.

Slippysnow · 27/03/2013 06:10

Thanks terrified that was me. Think I'll copy you, and look out for how your scan goes. I suppose that's one good thing about being a late one, I get to hear all your experiences before having my own :)

JellyCurls · 27/03/2013 06:40

Good luck with scans today ladies and congrats on yesterday's scans.

Sorry for your sad news Sal I am wishing you and DH all the best for the future and hope you make it back on a bus soon.

Learning for me for today is that icy snowy car parks and a SPD do not go well together, off for a cuppa to try ease my pain

CelticPromise · 27/03/2013 07:37

Just wanted to say I'm so sorry Sal and wish you lots of luck getting on another bus soon.
