Will this one take us through to the end of the first trimester? Will the sickness ever end? Will we be able to judge genders from those first scan pictures? These and many other mysteries to be solved in... THREAD 4

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Warlin · 26/03/2013 11:00

pseudo why was yours tested because you have dogs? I have a dog too which is why Im interested. Surely parvo is vaccinated against in dogs anyway so you couldn't pick it up from a vaccinated pet.

What ae everyone's thoughts on vaccines during preg...flu and whooping cough. I don't get the flu vaccine as I don't like getting vaccines in pregnancy and have never had flu so just take my chances. Plus there are so many different strains of it. But I think I may get the whooping cough one. My mw said the chances are so slim but I would never forgive myself if the baby contracted it. I just don't like new vaccines where they don't really know the side effects..Im prob a bit paranoid but hey!

pinksky · 26/03/2013 11:16

I am vaccinated against everything Warlin as I work half the week in a hospital, although I still managed to get flu in Feb! My (very personal) feeling is that vaccines don't get funded without a lot of thought, and the current programme is in response to an outbreak that has resulted in the death of quite a few babies (you can read the JVCI minutes here: transparency.dh.gov.uk/2012/09/28/jcvi-pertussis/ ) Understandably some women are reluctant because there haven't been any clinical trials of the vaccine involving pregnant women. I think it has a good safety record though, and has been used in children for a long time. I have friends who have refused the WC vaccine, and I understand their reasoning too.

I understand your worries about work! I started a new fixed term contract at the start of March, so not great timing (but I figured there never would be a perfect time). Having it hanging over you is pretty stressful I guess? Would your new boss keep it confidential?

PseudoBadger · 26/03/2013 11:29

I've no idea tbh, this is my third pg and it's never been tested for before afaik - must've been a midwife's whim :o
I had the flu vaccine a few months ago, and I will be getting the whooping one definitely

roxvox · 26/03/2013 11:59

I was debating the vaccines too. The MW did say that the pamphlets really try to sell it to you, but like you Warlin, I would never forgive myself if my baby contracted something because I didn't get the vaccine.

Just stopping by quickly to say good luck to those having scans today - please let us know how you get on!

Natalieand · 26/03/2013 12:07

I haven't really given the vaccines much thought and mw didn't mention them at booking in, how many weeks would we be to have whooping cough and flu vaccines? Xxx keep refreshing hoping for an update from sal xxx

MrsExcited · 26/03/2013 12:09

Sal hopefully by the time you get back and read this all will be well, if not your approach sounds similar to mine. I would be very surprised if they take you in today for ERPC more likely tomorrow ( needs a general and you need to be on the theatre list) good luck I ope things are ok for you, but if not hopefully see you back in conception when you are ready.

Rovox good luck on Thursday, you were my scan buddy, hope everything goes well for you, and everyone else who is having a scan.

I have met up with Santa on a ttc after mc thread, I am not quite there yet but nice to have some familia names about, miss you guys, the pace of chatter is slower than it was here.

Good luck again everyone Thanks

pinksky · 26/03/2013 12:20

Oh MrsE, so lovely to see you. Hope you're doing OK. I'm pleased you've found friendly faces on the ttc after mc thread. Just sorry you're there at all Flowers

SeriousStuff · 26/03/2013 12:32

MrsE great to hear from you. Who knows what the next few months might bring!

Finally had my MW booking in app today. She tried to listen to the baby's heartbeat but I didn't have a full bladder so wasn't really worth trying and I'm still not quite 12 weeks! All good though - BMI is 25 so just need to make sure I keep it that way >>she says, hiding her chocolate crunchy nut clusters

roofio87 · 26/03/2013 12:37

one perfect little baby in me!! a nice strong heart beat!! was stood straight upright so had to get it to move about a bit!! she thinks I'm about 12 and 1/2 weeks but waiting for exact measurements to get new date!! I'm made up!!!Grin Grin Grin

Haylebop12 · 26/03/2013 12:37

bowlfull I'm 5ft4 and a 14/16, however my stomach does not normally stick out like it does ATM and even if I've had a lot of eat one day it's not firm. (It's fatty) and this starts from right under my boobs. Will try and get a decent pic later.

Looking forward to hearing about today's scans.

TheFalconsmistress · 26/03/2013 12:38

Back from scan and booking in. I have a very active wee baby in there DD still 29th of September 13+2 :) very happy bunny now. Me and DH went to look at prams etc and now we seem to be favouring the baby jogger city mini! So much to save for!!!

TheFalconsmistress · 26/03/2013 12:40

congrats roofio Grin cant wait to hear from our other scan buddies too!!

SeriousStuff · 26/03/2013 12:50

Congratulations roofio - wonderful news!

Sal1977 · 26/03/2013 13:01

Right then chickadees, bad news as expected I'm afraid. Little bean stopped growing a few days after the first scan where we saw the heart beat at 6+5. All they could see with willycam is the sack and surrounding stuff.
I'm booked in for the surgery but 1st slot is not until NEXT Wednesday because of the bank holiday! Grrr...she said that my body might crack on before then as its obviously started doing something.

Sucks eh? But hey, you roll the dice and unfortunately it was my turn. Hopefully it makes the odds better for the rest of you lovely ladies.

We've already decided that for us, the way to get on is to try again straight away. I'm sure there will be more tears to come but I believe everything happens for a reason and maybe this one was a duffer because the next one is meant to be.

I truly wish you all well and will let you know when I'm on another bus (hopefully very very soon!) xxxxx

Sal1977 · 26/03/2013 13:04

MrsExcited - I'm heading over to keep you and Santa company!! X

PseudoBadger · 26/03/2013 13:09

Sal I'm very sorry, and it sounds extremely similar to my experience in December (although not sure of when my baby stopped growing). Please feel free to pm me if you want to chat. Xx
