Will this one take us through to the end of the first trimester? Will the sickness ever end? Will we be able to judge genders from those first scan pictures? These and many other mysteries to be solved in... THREAD 4

Good luck with scans today ladies can't wait to hear how they go.

DC2 has slapped cheek and is not very well. Stupidly googled it and now worried for me. Can someone remove the medical symptom checker from google for the next 6 months?

FeministInTraining · 26/03/2013 07:25

I'm loving hearing about everyone's scans, congratulations to all of you who have had yours and fx for the rest of us! Happy scan day iheart. I'm a scan buddy natalieand and tarlia it feels so good to say it's next week!

Sending lots of positive vibes to Sal good luck today x

My belly is very swollen but I think it's mainly due to wind and constipation Blush

Tarlia · 26/03/2013 07:38

Good luck, crunchies Sal and anyone else scanning today.

slowcooker was from amazon, with free delivery too! Ours is Morphy Richards and is fab.

It's just sprung to mind randomly someone asking way up thread about knitting for baby.. I crochet and made 2 newborn hats as soon as I found out and as soon as this sickness passes will crack on with more. I bought all of the newborn and 0-3 wardrobe, bottles, sling etc basically everything except cot, bouncer, car seat and pram at 19 weeks the week before my scan! So I'm not superstitious and I think as soon as you can feel baby move you will feel much more confident.

Haylebop12 · 26/03/2013 07:43

Good luck for today's scanees!

Slow cookers are fab, love mine. If DH and I are both workings late (9pm) I put it on spew have a decent tea and smells lush as you walk through door! My mums got a huge one I think it was from tesco.

34PinkLadyApple · 26/03/2013 07:51

Good luck those ladies having scans today, specially sal but im sure you'll be fine.

I second the slow cooker thing, its great! We do whole joints of meat in it (shoulder of pork or lamb, beef brisket). You can buy cheaper cuts as the fat just melts away! We dont roast anything in the oven anymore as its so tasty and tender out the slow cooker. We chuck in chopped onion and carrot, sit the meat on top and pour in about a pint of stock and stick it on low for about six hours. Falls off the bone and doesnt make the kitchen hot! Never done rice pud, will have to try that.

TheFalconsmistress · 26/03/2013 08:13

Away to scan super nervous...

JellyCurls · 26/03/2013 08:19

hayle I sure hope you cook stew and not spew, just snorted tea through my nose when I read that.

cherrycherry41 · 26/03/2013 08:23

This time tomorrow ill be having my scan! eek! Grin

Haylebop12 · 26/03/2013 08:24

Haha sorry jelly definitely stew!

Good luck falcon

BowlFullofJelly · 26/03/2013 08:34

Good luck Falcon, Sal, Crunchie and everyone else with scans today - it's getting so exciting now! Hayle go on, post a pic of your belly Grin. I'm a bit of a chubba anyway, size 14 and only 5ft 3, but I have a definite bump (under the layers of fat). My boss is debating whether to change the dress code at work and really need him to decide before I go and buy a load of maternity wear. Reckon I have another 4 weeks before I can literally not get any of my clothes on anymore!

Roxvox it didn't occur to me until about 2 weeks before I was due that I had no idea what to do with a baby. Have always had lots of kids around, but never been a 'baby person' and so tended to avoid them until they were about 6 months and a bit sturdier. Like everyone says you work it out when they get here. Have a few guys at work who are expecting their first who keep asking me for advice - I tell them to keep them alive and anything else is a bonus Wink.

Sal1977 · 26/03/2013 08:45

Thanks ladybugs. Scan is at 9.50.

Think it is pretty much a done deal though as although there hasn't been a huge amount of blood I had two sizeable chunks of something fall out yesterday (scooped out the loo and now in a Tupperware to take with - lovely!). I had some very mild cramping last night, but then hardly any blood again this morning (nothing overnight but that's probably gravity).

Am being quite pragmatic about it (either that it fall to pieces) so not having anything to eat and packing a bag in case they can fit me in for an ERPC/D&C today as I don't want it to progress naturally, I just want it done and dusted.

Weirdly though, the one thought that keeps upsetting me the most is about my bloody wedding dress and what am i going to do with it...how stupid is that?

Anyway, I'll report back to base and REALLY look forward to some great results from the other scanners today..good luck ladies! Xxxxx

pinksky · 26/03/2013 08:52

Thinking of you, Sal

Rockchick1984 · 26/03/2013 08:53

Good luck Sal you have got an amazing attitude to all of this, I really hope it all turns out well for you. When is the wedding?

Good luck for the others getting scanned today!

Ladies, you have inspired me - I used to use my slow cooker all the time when I was working, but hardly use it any more. I'm so knackered lately that I hardly have the energy to make tea and we have been surviving on lots of frozen pizza, and take-away Blush so I'm throwing a chicken casserole into the slow cooker today and we are finally eating something healthy!!

JellyCurls · 26/03/2013 09:10

Good luck today Sal x

HotSoupDumpling · 26/03/2013 09:16

Good luck everyone. I admire your courage Sal.

Right, I'm getting a slow cooker. MS means I'm unable to smell all the kitchen smells created by stuff on the hob, so maybe this will be a godsend.

Natalieand · 26/03/2013 09:23

No time to read back but just wanted to say good luck for today sal keeping everything crossed for u xx

Wickedgirl · 26/03/2013 09:32

Good luck for today sal......I hope everything is ok

Jelly curls......have you had your booking in yet? Did they test you for parvovirus (slap cheek)? If not, ask your dr surgery

PseudoBadger · 26/03/2013 09:33

Good luck Sal x

Sparkeleigh · 26/03/2013 09:34

Good luck Sal, will be keeping my fingers crossed for you.

cherrycherry41 · 26/03/2013 09:42

Good luck Sal! xxx

JellyCurls · 26/03/2013 09:44

wicked called midwife and she is checking my blood results. Bloods only done two weeks ago so if not tested they might still have some left. Is parvovirus something they normally test for?

On a cheery note, think I can feel my wee Ribena berry moving about. Little pops in lower tummy, quite nice. Going to telly self it is even if its not

Warlin · 26/03/2013 10:09

Hi All

Good luck with the scan today and thinking about you sal. Keeping everything crossed that it's all ok.

Has been a tough few days as DS1 has conjunctivitis and a stinking cold and nursery wouldnt take him yesterday so I had to take annual leave. It's only my 3rd week back so didnt want to start asking about carer's leave etc.

I also cannot bring myself to tell work. They have offered me a new role and are "delighted" to have me back from maternity. They keep talking about annual targets etc etc and I just sit there nodding and thinking oh f**k! DH thinks I should tell them sooner but I will now have a new boss and really don't know how to tell them and who to actually tell. I think I'm still insecure about being back so don't want to rock the boat. So much has changed and I feel awful knowing I'll only be here for 6 months. I'm 12+5 so starting to show now...I'm debating just leaving it until it's really obvious!!

I have a nuchal scan booked privately for Friday. I have Downs Syndrome in the family so I'm always a bit apprehensive...fingers crossed it will be ok and looking forward to seeing bean again. Is the next anti natal appointment at 16 weeks? I should prob get it booked.

Sorry for the rant!! Hope everyone has a good day x

Wickedgirl · 26/03/2013 10:26

Jelly curls......I don't think so. I work with children so asked for parvovirus and chicken pox to be added to my list of things to check. It is just a tick box so yours may have been done depending on what was ticked on the blood form

PseudoBadger · 26/03/2013 10:48

Jelly - mine was tested as I have dogs.

Warlin - I have a dilemma about whether to apply for a management job (internal post) for similar reasons.

roofio87 · 26/03/2013 10:56

just about to leave for scan. mixed nervous and excited!! got my little pot of wee in my handbag for the midwife too!! Wink will let u all know how it goes!! good luck my fellow scan buddies!!Grin
