Will this one take us through to the end of the first trimester? Will the sickness ever end? Will we be able to judge genders from those first scan pictures? These and many other mysteries to be solved in... THREAD 4

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
PseudoBadger · 22/03/2013 08:32

10 weeks today. I'm starting to worry now as my mc was at 11+6 and that getting closer...

char1eston · 22/03/2013 08:41

Enjoy your scans today wispa and umlauf

Congrats on the twins, legally Grin

Flyer - tmi from me too but yes, I am experiencing the joy of piles Confused had them with dd and tbh the pain of the piles hurt more than my stitches post birth. I am going to get a pile cushion in ready this time. Oh the joy!

I think I have uploaded my 12 week scan should anyone want to have a peak. I think I'm having a goblin!

char1eston · 22/03/2013 08:41

On and badger - stay strong x

BowlFullofJelly · 22/03/2013 08:50

Yay, more pics and scans! Its a beautiful goblin char1eston. In my DS's 12 weeks scan he looked like Mr Burns - not sure if it was a hand or what but he had a proper massive hooked nose lol.

Good luck Wispa and Umlauf, let us know how you get on.

Pseudo I know it is easier said then done, but try not to worry. Every pregnancy and baby is different and there is no reason why you would be more likely to have MC near 12 weeks this time around. When is your scan? Not much longer to wait I hope!

Haylebop12 · 22/03/2013 09:00

char1 congrats on the scan, so clear!

pseudo I know how you feel, I had this last week. I am now 10+5 and had my mc at 9+2. Hence why I booked private scan at 10+0/1. Hope you don't have to wait much longer for yours.

Back to square one for me. Just seen my crunchy nut cornflakes for the second time this morning. Dd at school so at my mums for some tlc Smile

Haylebop12 · 22/03/2013 09:01

Oh and good luck for today's scans!

pinksky · 22/03/2013 09:05

Good luck, wispa! Hope it's a great scan.

Lovely to see more scan pics, thanks for sharing, char1eston.

Pseudo, I echo what bowlfull says--every pregnancy is different. Hope you're scan is soon.

I'm hoping my scan date will come through soon. I'm away with work for 1.5weeks around my 12 weeks. I really hope they fit me in early.

pinksky · 22/03/2013 09:06

Crap, Hayle-- so sorry to hear that. It's good you can be looked after by your mum. Take care.

cazboldy · 22/03/2013 10:15

urgh hayle -poor you x

good Luck with the scans today ladies Smile

we had a lovely new baby calf born this morning - am off to go and put her a coat on (it's really cold here today and the wind is like a knife and she's shivering) and give her a bottle Smile

SeriousStuff · 22/03/2013 10:30

Good luck with all the scans today! And pseudo just take care of yourself and take each day as it comes. Are you getting an early scan because of your previous experience?

Flyer747 · 22/03/2013 10:31

Omg Caz that's so adorable a little calf with a coat on bless....

Hope scans all go ok

PseudoBadger · 22/03/2013 10:36

No early scan offered, it's on the 6th April at 12+1

Rockchick1984 · 22/03/2013 11:13

Pseudo although it must be terrifying for you, I actually think it will be better for you to only have the scan later than your previous mc - that way you know you're past the stage you got to last time rather than having an early scan and still worrying constantly. I'm sure everything will be ok this time though Thanks

Good luck today scan ladies!

10 weeks today, and my prescription exemption card has just arrived, less than 2 weeks after I applied which seemed pretty good!

Smitten1981 · 22/03/2013 11:21

rockchick How do you apply for a card? No one has mentioned it to me, although I did tell the woman at the chemist yesterday and she put the prescription through for free anyway!

Umlauf · 22/03/2013 11:25

I'm back! It was brilliant but long! It took 3 goes on the tummy ultrasound and TWO goes on the vag-cam before she could get any measurements. I had to take my trousers and knickers off in front of DH which I wasn't expecting (yes its fine at home!) and I will have to get over these inhibitions by October!

It took about an hour so i have a lazy and naughty baby! Tinyface was stubborn and not moving much so she kept prodding me, both with the tummy thing AND the vag cam (ouch!) The whole time DH was watching and grinning madly but I couldn't see the screen. They made me go for a wee and told me off for drinking beforehand! I had a brief chance to watch the baby when she had finally done some measurements and it waved a bit and jumped up and down.

No luck with gender. The downs risk is 1:3443 so I'm pleased with that, and the risk of other abnormalities (edwards/patau) 1:100000 which is fab! She put me at 13 weeks and gave an approximate date of 30th September. Baby is 67.7mm!

I didn't have to pay for any photos but they are not very good as they only give you the ones they take for the nuchal measurements here so no full body shots. Ill put the best one on my profile but its not great Sad

And as I'm 13 weeks instead of the 12 I thought, I'm in the second trimester!! Hooray!

Sal1977 · 22/03/2013 11:52

Smitten, have you had your booking in apt yet? I was given my form then and just had to get my docs surgery to stamp it. Took about 2 weeks to come through after that.

Was it Pink that had some brown spotting? I've had a bit more today but nothing that has reached my undies, just when I have a root around. Sorry ladies, pretty grim I know. Just wondered what they said yours was?

I'm determined not to be one of the horrid statistics....

pinksky · 22/03/2013 12:02

Smitten, I also gone mine at booking in and exactly as Sal says, take it to your GP to be stamped, then you'll get a little card. You should also be able to get free prescriptions/dental care whilst you're waiting for the card.

sal, it was me. It's let up a bit now, but it's been on and off since week 5. At my scan they said my uterus was bruised. possibly from implantation? I've been looking for info and have seen different explanations e.g., mucous plug regenerating. If you have cramps with it I would get it looked at. How long til your scan?

Umlauf, great news! Sorry your bean was being difficult, but how lovely to be 13 weeks Smile

Smitten1981 · 22/03/2013 12:15

No, It wasn't even mentioned at my booking in appointment and I did ask the nurse for one yesterday, but she said you have to get one from your midwife. I don't think I have another midwife appt till 16 weeks, which is ages away!

To be honest the whole booking in/midwife thing has been a complete shambles. I'm not holding out much hope for decent maternity care to be honest.

Flyer747 · 22/03/2013 12:16

Umlauf smashing news and wowsers a whole week put forward. Congrats on entering the 2nd Trimester :-) x

Smitten1981 · 22/03/2013 12:18

I didn't even get given a number to contact a midwife on, which is worrying if anything goes wrong.

These scan pics are all very exciting, hope I can escape without a dildo cam!

Sal1977 · 22/03/2013 12:20

Umlauf - great news! And bloody jammy to be moved up a week!

Smitten, I'd give your midwife a call and ask her to send you a form. You'll only need it if you need to get a prescription but even then, tell them you've got a bun in the oven and you shouldn't have to pay for it anyway.

Pink, no cramps, just a tiny bit of brownish mucus I guess you could call it when I root around. I had it at 6 weeks as well and that turned out ok, so here's hoping! How far along are you now?

JellyCurls · 22/03/2013 12:23

Umlauf glad scan went well even though it was not a very nice experience so glad I have never had to have a dildo cam scan. We are now due-date buddies Smile

Sal1977 · 22/03/2013 12:24

Oh and have managed to get an early scan on Tuesday. 12 weeker is the following Thursday. So if all is well, we'll get a double peek at the bubba. If not, at least we know sooner rather than later. What a shitter though to get to nearly 12 weeks and its a goner! Anyway, that's not gonna happen, so that little wotsit had better cling on in there!!

SeriousStuff · 22/03/2013 12:26

Umlauf I am so pleased for you but also incredibly jealous, having been put back a total of 8 days after all my scans! Here's to lucky 13!

pinksky · 22/03/2013 12:29

Great that you're getting a scan soon, sal. I'm only 9+1, due 24/10 so way behind everyone else! I'm thinking of booking a private scan next week, finding it hard waiting--it feels like I'm investing a lot in something that might not work out.
