Sarah - dh is in England now scoping out a possible job, so hopefully in 3 wks. We love Hawaii and will definitely be sad to leave, but it is ridiculously expensive. Will be nice to be able to save some money and be closer to family. The 24-hr journey is getting a bit much for the grandparents and not great for us with kids either. So watch this space.

MrsBri - funny how we were all complaining when we felt nothing now we all moan about being kicked and punched!!

Littlemissexpecting · 14/04/2013 03:47

Learner that is so cute of your ds.
Anyone else up? I don't think the next 9 weeks can go quick enough (even though i have loads to do before he arrives). Between insomnia, heart burn, leg cramps, constant need to pee, unable to regulate body temp, back/hip ache I'm not sure if I actually will have less sleep when the lo arrives!!
I don't think the fact that I'm waking up in a panic about lo arriving early, and feeling very unorganised is helping. I have heard of 6, yes 6, babies in the past week arriving between 30-35 weeks. We were organised with baby's room decorated and now DH has decided to decorate some other rooms so we are in chaos. Should I start packing my hospital bag just in case? Is it too early to wash baby's bedding and clothes? Probably a good thing I finish work in 3 weeks tbh!!

RueDeWakening · 14/04/2013 07:38

Littlemiss, I've started my hospital bag - mostly I've just bunged toiletries etc in it, plus granny knickers Grin as I figure clothes are easier for DH to manage if it came to it. I plan to wash newborn stuff this week (am 33 weeks today, DS arrived at 31 weeks!) and add a few bits to the bag, and we have to order replacement bolts for the crib as we seem to have lost them Confused

MrsBri · 14/04/2013 08:08

Aloha, you're a better woman than me! I wouldn't even move house that late, let alone country! Isn't it too late to fly then though? Good luck with it all!

Also, will you be able to claim maternity allowance? Would be useful if you can.

And I know, ironic about movements. On Friday he was a bit quiet and I was worried...clearly gearing up for yesterday's madness! Which carried on in bed too. His kicks really hurt. :-/

I've starter my hospital bags, one for during and one for after. Still need a few things though. Annoyed I forgot granny pants from town yesterday.

DH took the spare bed down yesterday, so the nursery is coming together too.

We could cope now if we had to, but it wouldn't be perfect.

Oh, and all the bedding and clothes are washed and put away. :-)

We are getting there!

AmIGoingMad · 14/04/2013 08:35

Morning all!

Sarah your scan sounds fantastic!Smile And a harmonious trip to Ikea too- I'm impressed!

Red thanks for the idea of the step in the bathroom-that's great! DS already had the sides off the cot and we're just waiting for bed to arrive!

Learner that's so cute of your DS Smileours keeps saying 'mammy's baby' and I keep trying to say- ' this is our baby, mammy's just growing her'. But he is only 2.2 so its understandable. It is worrying me how much his world is about to be flipped upside down.

Mrs bri I hope your meal went well? You sound the most organised of us all! Well done!

Aloha it must be nice that you're likely to know one way or another soon. It must be difficult having things so up in the air at this time!

MrsBri · 14/04/2013 08:46

Hi AmI!

The meal was lovely...especially as baby was determined to be involved too! :-)

DH loves his steak, it has to be said!

I am generally quite organised. Though DH is being a pain about the Moses basket. We had decided it wasn't cost effective to use his family one as it needs lining and a special mattress making and bought another one. He now wants to use the family one...but I'll have to pay for everything it needs. He does my bloody head in sometimes. :-/

Not entirely sure what to do.

MrsBri · 14/04/2013 08:48

Oh, and your DS sounds so sweet...all you can do is prepare him as much as possible and see how it goes. Not a job I'll look forward to with the second. :-/

pinkapples · 14/04/2013 08:48

Mrsbri so organised! GrinIs everyone doing 2 bags? One for during one for after? I'm not sure now I bought one as I mentioned so I guess depending on how big it is I could put both sets of stuff in...

Baby shower stuff all unpacked and unwrapped just waiting for somewhere to put it now as all the furniture is up but want to wait till decorators been before putting it all where it will go permanently

Sounds exciting moving house aloha hopefully you will know soon and have a non hectic move Grin

Off back to aqua natal this morning after a 3 week break for the Easter hols which will be nice to get back in the water and then have to buy a new bed for one of my dogs as she fancied chewing through hers (don't ask... Beans everywhere) - it was a beanbag!

MrsBri · 14/04/2013 09:19

Pink, once you factor in towels and snacks / drinks there wasn't room in just one bag. For me, anyway!

Not good re your dog though!

pinkbear82 · 14/04/2013 09:45

afternoon morning all! Fourth morning in a row I've been wide awake at 4.30 Sad my friends just txt saying she bets that's the time I end up going into labour!

You're all so organised!

Love the fact some of you are having baby showers, my friend insisted on me having one, not till start of may as she's not local to me and is a nurse so working around shifts.

Off to do some shopping today would like to pick up a few things and feel a bit more settled.

Consultant apt tomorrow and might get an extra scan which would be nice!
Is anyone else still name debating?!

AmIGoingMad · 14/04/2013 09:58

Still name debating here! Can't find one we both like at the moment. We'd agreed on a girls name before DS was born and whilst I still love it, DH no longer likes it. All the ones he comes up with remind me of pupils I teach/ have taught that have 'tainted' the name for me!

MrsBri · 14/04/2013 10:27

An extra scan would be fantastic, wouldn't it pink? :-) Let's hope you get one.

We are sorted for names now, but have only told about 3 people. For everyone else, all they know is we are having a baby with sex and name to be determined!

ella0 · 14/04/2013 11:41

I'm over 32 weeks and still only feeling gentle kicks at most, and not very often at all (but I have an anterior placenta).

The nursery has been decorated, the furniture is in place, and I've washed the baby's bedding and clothes and put everything away, so I can relax now.

I've just finished packing my hospital bags (one for me and a small one for baby; I'm not taking a separate one for before and after, I've just put stuff for before on one side and stuff for after on the other), and I've put a list with them of things that will need to be taken at the last minute (i.e. phone and charger etc), so we're ready to go.

I also know a few people who have had their babies early so I'd rather be prepared in case (and I can relax now; I can't see me feeling like doing a lot in a few weeks).

DontmindifIdo · 14/04/2013 11:42

I think on the name front we are agreed, I just have to "let go" my favorite girls name as DH doesn't like it, and he's picked another name that was on my name list.

I'm feeling very unorganised right now for the baby, but as I've got Wednesday off with DS in nursery, I'm going to crack on with buying things for the hospital bag, washing all the old baby grows, and moses basket linen... some of you are really putting me to shame!

OP posts:
MrsBri · 14/04/2013 12:04

I'm impressed with people who manage with one bag. All of the absorbent stuff required afterwards is bulking up my bag no end, including a full pack of nappies for baby. Maybe my packing skills are just rubbish!

learnermummy · 14/04/2013 12:14

Am really hoping this illness passes soon as hardly have energy to get dressed let alone get myself organised!

ella0 · 14/04/2013 12:44

That is what takes up the most room, MrsBri - nappies (a full 25 pack) are taking up half of the baby's small bag, and maternity pads are taking up a significant amount of room in my bag (a larger m&s weekend bag)! I'm already worrying that they'll moan about those two bags as the hospital have posters up asking people not to bring much (one bag I think it said)!

ella0 · 14/04/2013 12:45

Hope you're feeling better soon, learnermummy.

MrsBri · 14/04/2013 12:51

I've not seen the hospital to know what they're saying re bags. We can always have the before one swapped for the after one so we only have one at a time!

The snacks and drinks take a fair bit of room in the before bag...can't starve poor DH!

learnermummy · 14/04/2013 13:01

Thanks Ella.

You probably don't need a full pack of nappies if you're struggling for space.

ella0 · 14/04/2013 13:15

I know, it's hard to know how much to take as you don't know how long you're going to be kept in. There's also a bag which will be kept in the car and will have extra back-up products (more maternity pads, baby clothes in a larger size in case she's bigger than expected etc).

learnermummy · 14/04/2013 13:19

Your OH will be going home each night even if you end up with a longer stay so I wouldn't worry too much about packing huge amounts to begin with.

SunnyL · 14/04/2013 13:24

When i was in hospital a few weeks ago they gave us towels and there was a cupboard full of emergency materials i.e. Breast pads, nappies, sleep suits etc.

Anyway babies in my family are always late so not going to bother until i finish work in 5 weeks (oh my writing that down makes me so excited)

SunnyL · 14/04/2013 13:27

P.s. Why do drunk weirdos always chose to sit next to me in waiting rooms. I currently have some drunk dude trying to talk gaelic to me. I dont speak gaelic (or drunken bum language).

forgetmenots · 14/04/2013 13:30

Haha I speak Gaelic Sunny, tell him 'DOooon doh VEE-ul' (shut yer mouth!) :)
