Morning all :-)

Dontmind, I've never heard anything as appalling as your commuting tales. I genuinely have no idea how you and Sarah, plus other commuters, are still going. I've only needed to be given a seat twice, and haven't even had to ask as one has been offered both times.

Pink, I hope you enjoyed your baby shower. Is anybody else having one? I'm not as I don't know enough people here to do it.

Hairdresser for me today and then I need to pop into town for a few bits and bobs. It's our 6 month wedding anniversary today, so I want to buy something lovely for dinner. DH loves steak, so I imagine I'll get that for us.

Such lovely weather here today. I may try to get out into the garden later and plant the herbs, peppers and chillies out that we bought last week.

I've also turned the heating off as it's looking like being much warmer from now on. About time, as I wouldn't normally have it on in April!

pinkapples · 13/04/2013 10:25

Congrats on the anniversary mrsbri hope you have a nice dinner sounds like everyone is having something nice hubby is working all weekend so I'm on my own with the dogs need to do a food shop... Oh the excitement Grin

Baby shower was lovely had about 25 people come and was just nice to have a get together played some games and got loads of pressies (not that that's why we did it) that were absolutely beautiful! Grinwe turned it from a baby shower into an IVF celebration Grin

Quick question tho... Obviously we need to say thank you for all the gifts shall we do it now or wait till baby's born and send the thank you from her? I'm not sure maybe 8 weeks is a bit to long to wait to say thanks so I'm thinking now?

Sarah2506 · 13/04/2013 10:34

Hey hey, we are off for 3d scan this afternoon. Gym this morning. Ikea after scan. Bit hectic! I'm having a baby shower next weekend. I'm a bit creeped out by it actually. I'm normally the organiser but left it to someone else. She invited girls I haven't seen all year and left out key friends. She has told people they must bring gifts. I think gifts should follow not precede the baby. So she has managed to offend pretty much everyone!

Mrs Bri- you were pregnant on your wedding day?! Did you even know? Did you drink?! I've had friends get married in first few months and just feel sick all day! We went to wedding on 27th sept. I got SMASHED. I didn't know!

MrsBri · 13/04/2013 10:52

Yes, Sarah, I was 3+5 (by my old / correct dates) the day we got married. We found out on 3+3 as I was too impatient to wait til after. I got smashed on 3+2 after doing a negative test! I also had a boozy hen do in between conception and implantation.

I had a couple on the day itself as the pregnancy was so young and nothing would transfer across then either.

It was lovely having that knowledge between us on the day itself :-)

Sarah, I'm like that about baby showers too!

Pink, glad you had fun at yours. It took me two months to do our wedding thank you letters, so it's up to you when you do them! :-)

Morning all! Congrats on wedding anniversary, and I'm glad you had a good shower. My friends are organising one for me but they have asked for a list of peeps to invite so hopefully I won't offend anyone.

Got a fun day of marking coursework ahead of me because I have been a lazy cow all Easter holiday but am going to see some friends and watch a band later. Might have to squeeze in a nap somewhere though, feel pooped!

DH is picking up chest of drawers for baby's room later, so I can actually put all the baby bits away - they are currently filling the cot. Also getting the pram which has been delivered to in laws. Can't wait to have a fiddle!

Anyone else trying hypnobirthing? Cd arrived this morn but I am going to wait as it says dont start it until 32 weeks. Will have a listen next weekend.

MrsBri · 13/04/2013 11:34

I was 9 DPO on that date, so I suppose it was the first day we could find out.

I don't have overly short cycles.

I already knew I was pregnant though, it was just a case of when the line appeared!

MrsBri · 13/04/2013 11:39

Well, when I say knew, I had a bloody good idea due to how different my (lack of) symptoms was compared to the other 2 cycles where I know I ovulated (think I had 2 non-ovulating cycles initially thanks to Depo wearing off).

Maw, how exciting to get your pram. Mine isn't coming for ages! And being able to put stuff away :-) I did that last week and loved it!

I'm doing hypnobirthing, but will start once I finish work, I think.

www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-2308080/Julie-Wilson-Amy-Livingstone-invent-Neckerchew-bib-catches-dribble-soothes-teething-babies-gums.html

does this link work? Got v poor internet here but this should be the link to the article about my neighbours new product.

Sarah2506 · 13/04/2013 12:53

Urgh, you mentioning Depo is the first time I have thought about that evil for ages! I stopped it four years ago next month. My periods finally returned TWO YEARS LATER. I had given up all hope by that point and the Gynae at the hospital said they had never known it stay in the system so long. Another year to get back to even a remotely normal cycle, and then another few months to get pregnant and here we are! I would never ever go back to Depo though. Actually, no, I would, when I've had a couple of Beans and want no more it will be ideal given it shuts me down big time!!

Sarah2506 · 13/04/2013 12:55

Sunny that looks great! Though is your neighbour really 48 with a two year old?! Wow!

Sunbeam18 · 13/04/2013 13:28

What's Depo??

MrsBri · 13/04/2013 13:39

It's an injected contraception.

That's really bad Sarah. My periods came back straight away on the pill, but I didn't ovulate after coming off the pill for a couple of months.

Maw, it's also likely I had implantation on 6dpo, and it usually happens 6-12dpo, so that obviously has an effect on when you'll get a positive test.

AmIGoingMad · 13/04/2013 15:32

Glad the baby shower went well pinkapples!Smile

Have fun at the scan Sarah!Smile

Happy anniversary mrsbri!Smile

The weather is awful here. All rainy and grey. Have just settled down to some cbeebies with DS with some homemade carrot cake! Had to mention the 'homemade' part as its my first foray into the world of Mary Berry!

Sounds like everyone is getting very organised! We've made some attempts to clear junk from middle bedroom but its a big job! And have now ordered a proper bed for DS- sleep isn't great at the moment so plan is to get one that one of us can comfily (?) get into with him.

Who's finishing work first now? I've got a good 6 wks left if I go up to the earliest I'm planning to finish.

Also- which bottles are people planning to get? I started with tommee tippee with DS before moving on to dr browns. Might go straight to dr browns this time but unsure. What are you ladies planning to do?

pinkapples · 13/04/2013 16:00

I wrote a list Sarah as I didn't ask for gifts but everyone wanted to know what we needed so I just wrote on the top that as it was an IVF baby we would love to celebrate with everyone and hoped they could make it and if they wanted to bring something I have a list of about 12 bits (hats/mittens etc) that they could get maybe you could do that to try and unoffend anyone who did want to wait till baby is here

Enjoy your scan let us know all about it and hope you grab a few bargains at Ikea

I've just got in from doing a shop my dad came and bought it for me 200 pound later (I really am old mother Hubbard havent shopped in 3 weeks) so at least we can eat now and hubby won't have to live off microwave noodles Grin

Mum and dad are coming round tomorrow to move the wardrobe where its going for baby so then I can have a good sort my study is like a baby gift shop and did not consider that we would need baby hangers! Grin

AlohaMama · 13/04/2013 17:31

Glad you had a fun shower pink and hope yours goes well Sarah (and the scan). I'd do thank you's now from you, you'll have enough to worry about when the baby comes!

I'm having a shower but not till 38 wks - a bit late in the day, but decided I didn't want invites out till I knew if we were moving back to England in August or not, otherwise woudl end up getting lots of beautiful but climate-inappropriate clothes.

AmI - definitely not me, I don't finish till June 10th ish. And I used Tommee Tippee the whole time.

Hubby left this morning for 2.5 wk trip to England. At least the house is quiet after our visitors left but it's going to be a bit hard without him. DS will miss him plus there is no one to lift heavy ds in and out of his cot for me! Nothing much on for this weekend. Supposed to be rainy so probably stay in and play with ds new birthday presents (he was 2 last week).

SunnyL · 13/04/2013 17:36

Ah Sarah my neighbour is the 35 yr old with a 2 year old. Although i do have a sister in law who is 51 with a 3 year old but that is a totally different story......

AmIGoingMad · 13/04/2013 18:01

Aloha - I know what u mean! It's the lifting in and out of bath that's the killer here!

AlohaMama · 13/04/2013 18:05

AmI - I am trying to get him to do more himself. And he can just about get out of the bath if I hold his hands. It's the cot he can't do alone or at least I don't want him to try!

redwellybluewelly · 13/04/2013 18:07

AmI and Aloha the lifting in and out of cot being impossible post section is why we put dd in a bed at Easter and also got a small step for our bathroom because that way I can help dd in and out of the bed and bath without actually lifting.

Will be back later with a roundup of my hideously pathetic shopping trip. Sob.

AlohaMama · 13/04/2013 18:18

Red I just can't bring myself to do it! I like him being contained. I think he'd be alright at night but the idea of him staying in bed at naptime without bars. I know he'll have to move to a bed soon enough but the later the better imo.

Sarah2506 · 13/04/2013 19:20

aloha I don't know what you mean. There will clearly be no difference between Hawaii and England in August! When do you find out if moving? I like Hawaii but I can't imagine living there. So expensive, even compared to here. Island living I guess.

Scan good! She's 3lb14 today, with a small head and fat tummy and legs on 90 percentile! She's going to be tall! So sweet, she has her dads mannerisms, shy, wouldn't look at camera, only towards her dad. Hands in face, hiding behind her cord. Husband smitten as I have clearly grown him a little mini me. So half a pound a week and she should be a good eight lbs on delivery.

Went to Ikea and actually survived with minimal damage to relationship. We were even nice to each other whilst loading stuff in the car in the rain!

learnermummy · 13/04/2013 19:30

Hello all.

Crappy day here as DH and I both have this awful cold/flu lurgy on top of my sore eye Hmm. I've been ill for weeks now, must be the lack of morning sickness coming back to bite me.
On a more smiley note , at bedtime DS2, who is 3, gave my bump a huge hug and said 'mummy it's going to be so great when the baby's here' Grin.

Congrats on the anniversary MrsBri. It'll be our 10 years 10 days after baby's due do guess we can write that off!

All the baby showers sound lovely. I've never had one and don't know enough people here for one this time.

As for bottles I liked the closer to nature tommee tippee ones last time so will probably get some of those again.

pinkapples · 13/04/2013 20:14

Yes I plan on breast feeding and expressing for do so he can help with night feeds and when I go bak to work as he only works 4 days baby will have a daddy day Grin we've got the avent natural ones that we got in a set with pump and steriliser

MrsBri · 13/04/2013 20:34

Glad your scan went well, Sarah...baby sounds adorable :-)

Learner, I hope you feel better soon. Surely feeling well has to happen at some point?

I have Avent bottles for when I express breast milk for DH to get involved in feeds. I got a newborn starter pack plus another pack of 3 too, as well as a breast pump and microwave steriliser.

BabyB is hurting mummy today. Since I was on my hands and knees cleaning the kitchen floor a few hours ago he's been fidgeting and kicking like a nutter, doing his best Alien impression with my belly! My midwife friend thinks he's now head down and just wildly kicking me. Ouchy!
