Husbands can stay overnight at our hospital (as long as you stay in the midwife led unit) but you're right, he can always go home to pick up stuff.

AlohaMama · 14/04/2013 17:14

Just to clarify my earlier post, in 3 wks we decide if we're moving. If we do it will be mid Aug when baby is 6 wks old. Before then we'll have to sell house, pack to ship etc etc. The list is long!

I can't face doing hospital bag yet. Would rather stay in denial! Baby can't come this early. Well done to all of you packing!

cyclecamper · 14/04/2013 18:37

Hello Everyone. I've been vaguely reading but rather too spaced to post this week! I feel as though I swallowed a lead-filled beach ball and then went horse riding Confused.

On Friday 2 friends gave me some baby stuff and so I now have a pram, a 3 wheeler pushchair and a car seat (no car, but it fits on the pram base and means other people can pick me up). I'll need to find some energy this week to give them both a scrub and find a new inner tube for the 3-wheeler.

I've not had any work for a month which is rather catastrophic - I was hoping to stop around now, but I'm going to have to take anything that is offered (if it is).

I met up with some friends yesterday and had a mini baby shower (5 of us), which was lovely - I wouldn't have planned one, but my friend from Wales came and 2 others who I haven't seen for ages so we had a lovely natter Smile.

The baby had a very quiet few days, but it seems to be back to normal now, which is a relief. I think it is still transverse though - I'm seeing the midwife on Tuesday, so hopefully she'll work out what it's up to! I really, really don't want a CS if I can avoid it! I think I'm too old for all this Grin.

learnermummy · 14/04/2013 20:59

Hi Cycle - you'll have to get scrubbing that floor to get baby head down Grin.

Having got excited about my figleaves discount code have finally got around to re-measuring and actually don't think my boobs have grown after all - odd. Perhaps because they've been there before the expansion will come later...

MrsBri · 14/04/2013 21:00

Ah, that makes sense, Aloha. I still wouldn't want to move then either though, in fairness! You clearly have more impetus than I do! Do houses sell quite easily where you live? Fingers crossed it all works out :-)

Cycle, Baby B was transverse for ages, but seems to have turned now. I'm getting kicked regularly above the belly button, anyway! There's still hope! What's your due date again?

And excellent re the baby stuff you've been given, that's fantastic.

I've decided to concede to DH's wishes regarding the family Moses basket. I've bought a mattress and his mum is paying to get the lining done. We're going to try to do it in secret, but I'm not sure we will manage it. Can but try though!

I've now almost completed the hospital bag, apart from my outfit to go home and some nursing bras, as I haven't bought those yet. Hopefully I don't go early and get to be totally ready.

The nursery furniture is now also in the right place, after badgering DH to move it around, as well as the new rug in place. It's all very exciting.

AmIGoingMad · 14/04/2013 21:19

Well Ella and Mrsbri you're putting me to shame! Biggest progress here today has been getting one bag labelled 'newborn' down from the attic. Am hoping I find lots of lovely things in there tomorrow as am off to bed now as too tired. Back to work tomorrow tooHmm
Ella that's a good idea having spare stuff in boot of car- my fuzzy brain would never have thought of that!

Aloha- I hope all works out as you want it to! You're certainly very brave to be thinking about moving with a 6wk old!

SunnyL · 14/04/2013 21:42

Nice one Pinkapples - although i do recall once being coached in Hungarian before going on telly. I dont know what i said but the interviewer did giggle rather nervously.

Just had a nice dinner round at some friends who were also commenting on my lack of bump. At some point i'm going to start looking huge which will scare them. Night all - early night after a long days travelling.

redwellybluewelly · 14/04/2013 21:47

I've posted my list on a thread in Pregnancy about hospital bags, it was called "C Section Hospital Bag" I think.

But thats all I've done! Still don't have the baby's room finished because DH simply isn't doing enough around the house in terms of painting! We both get sidetracked by the garden and on a beautifully sunny spring day like today staying in seemed such a waste.

ella0 · 14/04/2013 23:06

Well that's a start, AmI! I found I spent more time thinking about having to pack than actually packing. Once I started it didn't take much time at all.

pinkapples · 15/04/2013 06:36

Tired... That is all Hmm

Littlemissexpecting · 15/04/2013 06:51

Monday again?!

grainmum · 15/04/2013 07:42

morning all! Just been catching up on the weekend's posts. I have to say I had a very leisurely weekend and didn't do much of anything (well aside from working Saturday night).

I did wake up at 2am from a dream where my waters had broken. I was very convinced and actually had to check my pyjamas for dampness! So I'm thinking that maybe today is the day to pack a bag! don't want to tempt fate though - dh is away with work from Wed until Sunday so we'll wait til he's back thank you!

MrsBri · 15/04/2013 08:26

Ooh, not a good dream, grain :-/ I'm sure baby will wait!

Considering I'm meant to be working from home, it isn't great that I can't actually connect to the system. Apparently it's been like it all weekend for everybody, so now I'm just waiting for it to be fixed. But IT don't start til 9am, lucky them, so not sure when it will happen!

Hope they don't tell me to come in...eek!

MrsBri · 15/04/2013 08:32

Oh...night sweating anybody? It's so grim :-( And mostly from bump downwards. We were already still using the summer duvet, and I only wear enough clothes to contain my breasts!

Looks like open window and maybe the fan. Poor DH may freeze. He's wearing underwear and a t-shirt still!

Olimoss · 15/04/2013 09:16

Morning all - also been catching up on the weekend posts and wondering now if I should be packing hospital bags, etc. Gah, that makes it a bit real.

We'd washed all the baby clothes and stuff, then the cot we are being given arrived (as expected) on Saturday but also came with a few big bags of clothes all the way up to 18 months old. And a bouncer and a BabyBjorn (both of which are a big scrubby, not sure if I'll keep them). So that means more washing.

The cot being up in the NewHuman's room is a bit, 'argh I don't even....no I can't think about it'....! I think we'll have to bite the bullet now and just get on with ordering the rest of the stuff we need from John Lewis.

Spent weekend doing various things but really noticing how tired I get and regretting having accepted another commissioned contract to complete before the baby arrives. And dreading full days in the office as by 2pm I very much benefit from a couple of hours snoozing....actually I think it's the commute that's the killer, with 18 flights of stairs across three train stations, lots of walking. So it's bad for knee and tiredness but probably good for fitness seeing as knee means it's been impossible to do much else.

I'm still having a coffee a day, in the morning, I swear it helps!

curiousgeorgie · 15/04/2013 09:21

Wow, you are all so organised!

I've ordered furniture, bought a Moses basket, ordered an icandy double (hoping to only use for a little bit as I love my bugaboo cam and if DD will just walk a bit more then I can just use that!) and got myself a pink lining changing bag as a treat... But nowhere to put any of it until we move house at the beginning of June!

I'm slightly panicked at the idea of only having about 2 weeks to sort an entire house plus all the baby stuff before I have DD2, but hoping to at least have my hospital bag all done before I pack up the rest of this house!

MrsBri · 15/04/2013 09:23

I'm in awe of you, Oli...I could not do your commute. At all.

Great about all the clothes you were given. I imagine people will give stuff to us once the sex is known. Not long til we can say next month. That'll make it very real!

Olimoss · 15/04/2013 09:28

MrsBri - it's fine, really, when it all goes straighforwardly, but if one train is late, or cancelled then it turns into a marathon.

I think really even if I was working from home all the time now I'd still want a snooze at 2pm!

The clothes we were given are aces, but it's all a bit overwhelming and we only have a medium sized art deco cabinet thing we're using for baby clothes (ie: no chest of drawers, no wardrobe) so think we'll have to just wash them and stick in the spare linen drawer till he gets to size.

Sarah2506 · 15/04/2013 09:50

Yesterday I established conclusively that I am mad. We went for a nice non hilly short walk. I estimated eight miles but thought it might be up to ten. We got to a junction where there should have been a footpath but there wasn't. Or maybe there was but it looked like someone s front garden. Being English and too polite to charge through we walked an alternative way round. Which was closed. So we ended up walking uphill along the side of a dual carriageway for a mile or so with traffic thundering at me as there wasn't even a verge to walk on. Poor small girl was obviously petrified by the noise and everything started to ache and cramp. When we got off it she went back to normal but it must have been so scary for her! The extension meant it was over twelve miles, I got stuck in a kissing gate and had to climb out and I got a sunburnt back. Time to maybe hang up the walking boots and take it easy?!

Olimoss · 15/04/2013 10:32

Gosh Sarah that's so far! I did 5km on Saturday walking the dog and ended up, by the end, feeling like I wanted a sling to haul the bump around with!

MrsBri · 15/04/2013 11:29

I can't even do 500 metres without bump really aching. Baby B is resting right at the front, which I don't think helps.

I'm still in awe of both of you!

Sarah2506 · 15/04/2013 11:41

Mine aches at the outset but then settles down. I think it sends her to sleep. I'm often not sure why I still do these things. I think it has a lot to do with my mind not quite catching up with my body- mind still thinks I can climb mountains with no problem. Body knows that's not true. I also think, and hope that staying as fit as I possibly can will help me recover from a c section. Not sure there is actual truth in that...

MrsBri · 15/04/2013 11:51

I'd have thought that if you are fit then you may also heal / recover quickly.

Do you generally heal from illnesses / injuries ok (when not pregnant)?

Maybe I could get past the ache too. Hmmm...

learnermummy · 15/04/2013 12:44

Oh Sarah you make me feel exhausted just reading your post!

Still rubbish here but six diagnosed tonsillitis this morning so hope penicillin will make me feel better. Also mum and dad on their way up to help Smile.

learnermummy · 15/04/2013 13:08

Six? Meant docs!
