Sarah sounds like a perfect opportunity for a spa day, surely? I mean if you're going to be hanging out on your own, you may as well make the most of it. Unless that's not your cup of tea.

Sunbeam18 · 28/03/2013 23:16

Yeah, that thread about washing is plain weird! Someone on it seemed to be calling her unborn baby a brat!? I'm glad we are all kind and supportive!

RueDeWakening · 28/03/2013 23:48

Pinkbear - YES, I have eaten an entire box of Fab ice lollies in the last few days Blush :o

To those who commented and don't know our story: DS is a surviving identical triplet, we had acute twin to twin transfusion syndrome last time round and despite laser ablation we lost his brothers, and DS was born at 31 weeks and spent 5 weeks in NICU before coming home.

I had a growth scan this morning, which wasn't particularly good - baby is growing too quickly and abdominal circumference is off the top of the centile chart. Weight currently estimated at 5lbs Shock I'm seeing the consultants on Tuesday, but I suspect we won't make the 38 weeks we're currently aiming for, and am half expecting delivery at more like 35 or 36 weeks. Which is a bugger, as it's DD's birthday that week.

AlohaMama · 28/03/2013 23:58

Thanks for being so open Rue, I think I'd got the gist of it after various posts but it just sounds like it must have been such a difficult time for you . As for your fast-growing baby this time, are there any reasons for the fast growth or are they just concerned to make sure you have the baby before it gets too big? Presumably you'll keep having regular scans to monitor the growth?

forgetmenots · 29/03/2013 01:56

Rue - I didn't know your story. Thanks
Very brave of you to tell us, I really hope all is well with your little one, are they monitoring you closely?

Thanks for the leggings tips! Definitely need a pair to see me through :)

learnermummy · 29/03/2013 07:24

So sorry to hear your story Rue, hope this little one slows down for you.

Sorry you're having to spend the day on your own Sarah - make sure you treat yourself to something nice Smile.

We're off to see 'walking with dinosaurs' today and the kids are playing really nicely while I laze I'm bed. Happy Good Friday everyone.

AmIGoingMad · 29/03/2013 08:31

Rue that must have been so difficult. Big hugs. ( someone will have to explain the un mn hugs thing to me as I haven't a clue and it puzzles me every time I see it) Good that they're keeping a good eye on the growth now too.

Littlemiss- thanks for the recommendation! I'll look into those in a bit.

Sarah alohas suggestion seems like a good un to me!

Hope everyone has a lovely bank hol! Mine started very early with DS but my shower has woken me a bit! The sun is shining too- happy days! Smile

SunnyL · 29/03/2013 09:37

Morning all. Went to the GP yesterday about my varicose veins on the advice of the midwife. Asked her about the support stockings. She said 'well you know varicose veins are just one of things that happens in pregnancy, we're not even sure if stockings will help that much, lets see them first - whoa! they really are bad aren't they??!!'. There is this weird bit of me that always feels smug when I manage to shock a medical practitioner Grin.

Anyhoo I have a prescription for these super sexy support stockings. Got to give the pharmacist about 1000 measurements and they'll order them in for me. As if I wasn't sexy enough for DH at the moment!

pinkapples · 29/03/2013 09:39

Mine started well with no underboob pain however having put on a bra It's now back Grin

pinkapples · 29/03/2013 09:40

Hopefully this is not going to last the whole weekend but I'm thinking it might Hmm

pinkapples · 29/03/2013 09:41

Awwww sunny must have been funny to see the shock on her face tho Grin I know feeling much less sexy each day at the moment not impressed only a matter of weeks to go now tho

RueDeWakening · 29/03/2013 16:21

Thanks ladies - the growth is because of diabetes, which is being a pain in the bum and not behaving itself despite best efforts. My fingers look like they have freckles from all the spots where I'm testing, I'm fairly sure that if I squeezed them they'd bleed all by themselves!

I've got more growth scans booked in, for 32 & 36 weeks but will probably have one at 34 weeks and they might up it to weekly depending on how we go. Seeing consultants in between them, so 1 week consultant, next week scan etc. The hospital car park is costing me a fortune!

Sunny - the glamour of pregnancy never ceases to amaze me :o

AmI - MN is a nest of vipers, didn't you know? Wink

Pink - hope your boobs are feeling better soon :o

Sarah2506 · 29/03/2013 16:41

There is a spa in Ambleside. Why did this thought not occur to me?! Went for a lovely short walk though, just eight or so miles with not much hill. So lovely up here in the snow. Happy Good Friday all:-)

pinkapples · 29/03/2013 16:56

Awww glad you had a good day Sarah sounds lovely Grin
well I've been in bed all day rib pain easing but now have back pain and the shivers along with being sick every time I move so a good start to the bank holiday weekend for me! Hopefully tomorrow will be more successful Hmm

SunnyL · 29/03/2013 20:12

Just tried on my new Mamas and Papas pyjamas. Theyre flippin HUGE! Wonder if i'll still think that in 10 weeks Grin

learnermummy · 29/03/2013 20:17

Oh no pink sounds like this horrid lurgy that's doing the rounds. Hope you feel better soon.

Rue, are you diabetic normally or just pregnancy related? Sounds awful Hmm.

Well we had a great afternoon watching the dinosaurs, highly recommend it to any with small boys!

redwellybluewelly · 29/03/2013 21:02

Sunny I got mine today as well, annoyed as I asked for them to be sent to store so I didn't have to pay. Also didn't realise the ones I got were under bump, useless after CS so will have to go back. But the nighties are nice. No. They are functional.

Rue I'm sorry about the diabetes being such a PITA, though reassuring such a close eye is being kept on you

Pink get well soon, sounds horrid

pinkbear82 · 29/03/2013 21:27

I'm slightly jealous of all the New pjs - I used to love my jammies but recently find I'm too hot in them and uncomfy so don't bother.

woke up with a killer sore throat and as the day's gone on I've developed a delightful dry hacking cough. cue bump ache (and now when it kicks it feels like it's kicking something out of my fanjo) and an awful amount of leg crossing during a coughing fit!

and then, after making the effort yesterday to deforest my legs dp is just rubbing my leg and announces he'll shave them for me as feeling a bit rough Angry lucky for him I could only cough in reply!

AmIGoingMad · 29/03/2013 22:27

Get well soon both pinks!

I'm having to look into pjs soon- have one pair that I bought from next last time around and they ae sooooo comfy! Now need to find another few to live up to them.

Can't believe I'm only now going to bed when I've been so tired for ages!
Night ladies!

RueDeWakening · 29/03/2013 22:52

I'm type 1, had it most of my life and normally it's pretty well controlled but being PG sends me/it into a spin - have promised faithfully that there'll be no more kids after this one! Don't think I could hack it again.

Pink & Pink hope you're both feeling better soon. I'm busy coming down with my 6th cold this year (!) and not at all happy about it!

I ought to find some PJs for hospital I guess, are mamas and papas ones comfy? Can't remember the last time I owned any Blush Where else might sell me some? Also, has anyone seen any underwired nursing bras anywhere? I had some both previous times but haven't found any in stock so far.

redwellybluewelly · 29/03/2013 23:05

Rue see my post ^ I picked some and they were under bimp, and it didn't explicitly say that on the web. I'm hoing to try some others though.

redwellybluewelly · 29/03/2013 23:05

Bump.

Hoping.

Bloody phone.

learnermummy · 30/03/2013 07:22

Rue the Anita underwired nursing bras are fab. You can get from figleaves but they are pricey so worth holding out for s discount. They do 20% off days now and again, will let you know if I spot one.

DontmindifIdo · 30/03/2013 09:03

oh big jim jams is a good thing - lots of growing room and not rubbing if you have a c section.

NCT do have a good range of nighties and pjs, a lot that are designed for giving birth in.

Now, here's a birth tip for you all, get in your 'giving birth' outfit/nighty before you insist on an epidural or let them put a drip in your arm, trying to get a t-shirt off over a drip was rather farsical last time round - they put me on a drip as soon as I got there because I (being the classy bird I am) had been throwing up pretty much on every contraction and threw up all over the carpark and entrance hall for the hospital. Wish I'd actually thought before I let them put that in my arm that I was still dressed, I just wanted the vommity feeling to go...
