Persuasion I like your birth plan! I didn't bother with one for DD, but it would've been pretty much exactly that.

Slouching - please don't encourage more spending!

I 'accidentally' bought a buggy on eBay today. Well, I intended to buy it, but I didn't really do the research I'd normally do before spending that amount of money. I got it into my head that I really needed wanted an all-terrain buggy so we wouldn't have a repeat of the toddler-wearing disaster walk over the common we did at Easter. I hope I haven't made a big mistake.

Just wondering if everyone is getting weighed at all their MW appointments?? I did last time, but there doesn't seem to be a space for it in my notes this time, so I'm wondering if it's not routine anymore.

SlouchingPanda · 12/04/2013 20:28

But it's so bargainous ! To be fair, I haven't spent loads so far and very rarely buy anything full price am a cheapskate after many years of student-dom . The best deals don't seem to be available online, only in store (shame as I wished I'd bought more PJs and now I'm working all weekend).

Have not been weighed at all, not even at booking. I was asked what I weighed and that was written in my notes. However I overestimated, so now it looks like I've only gained 2 kilos (or it would if anyone bothered to weigh me!).

Thinkingof4 · 12/04/2013 21:07

Hi all, just at end of our wee holiday in the highlands and not a single rainy day so feeling pretty happy!
On phone again so can't remember who said what but I'm booked in for my whooping cough vaccine on Monday so I'll update how my arm feels next week! I know there have been cases locally so that's enough to convince me to have it.
Re lady garden, I'm happy to leave things pretty au naturel down there but may do something of a blind trim a but later on. I had to wax in preparation for this holiday as I knew we would be swimming, but it is near impossible to do myself now due to size of bump and it was also extremely sore so I'm not in a hurry to do that again. Actually now that I think about it I would say I'm generally a bit less hairy than with previous pregnancies so maybe it's a girl???
Not sure about FB group as I'm hardly ever on there tbh so might be a bit pointless for me. But if this thread dies then I might change my mind...
Hope everyone has a good weekend, looks like weather is on the up Smile

Evening all. Photographer - glad you and your baby are ok and DAU were good. Hope you feel better soon. Hope you feel better too Shelley.

Bigbelly -I have a sometimes difficult relationship with my mum as her outlook on life is so different to mine so I massively sympathise. I suspect when the baby arrives she'll completely change her tune and deny ever having said anything.

Thinking - glad you had a lovely holiday in the highlands - sounds like you lucked out on the weather!

Mightbemad - Shock at that plumber! I'd be furious if they hadnt sorted everything out after that too. Hope tomorrow is a better day for you with fully restored water supply/shower etc.

Slouching - LOVE your birth plan (and yours too Persuasion - nice and to the point).

Phie - v exciting re the buggy. What did you go for?

Re ladygarden - if you have never waxed before, now is NOT the time to start, especially in that area as you get REALLY sensitive nearer the birth. If you're a veteran waxer, go for it if you want to. I didnt bother either first or second time and wont this time either - as some one up thread said, the MWs have seen it all before! Trimming if you think the hairs are getting long/unruly may be an idea but pretty difficult to achieve - you could get OH to do that if you think they'd do it properly. Having seen DH massacre a roast there is NO WAY I'm letting him near my bits with a pair of scissors...

Whooping cough vaccine - will be having it though need to book in for it at my 31 week appt with the GP. SIL had it as a baby and the stories MIL tells - and the look on her face when she tells them - are enough to convince me its well worth doing.

PS Totally - I dont get weighed at MW appts thank god! I know they do it in foreign countries but think its fallen out of vogue over here - never got weighed for DS1 or DS2 too after the first appointment (like Slouchings idea of lying about your weight though...)

VinegarDrinker · 12/04/2013 22:00

Most annoyingly I get weighed at every appointment (even though it's not recommended any more, grumble grumble). Hence I know I've put on a whopping 9kg... Wouldn't be weighing myself otherwise!

SundaySunshine · 12/04/2013 22:12

Hi all,

Had great mw appointment today, all looking good, nice steady hb, bang on 29 weeks size wise - so I'm not incubating a monsterous giant! (You were right Dinky, oh wise one, I must have had a growth spurt early on and have now leavelled out, phew!). I've only been weighed once so far. And no one 's mentioned the GTT thing either, but I'm rather glad about that.

bigbelly mums are infuriating aren't they. Mine always knows exactly the WRONG thing to say ALL the time; but I don't think there is any malice in it just... Well it's just her being mum. I wonder if I will be as annoying to my kids when they grow up, I hope not! Oh and your pedicure sounds lush, I want one Smile.

mightbe what a plonker your plumber is! I'm still waiting for my plumber to come and connect my shower, I've been waiting since Feb half term!

Glad to hear your holiday was a success thinking. The highlands sound amazing.

Re lady garden (love the name Grin) I'm gonna try to keep it trimmed, but I'm not too bothered by it , as someone else said, they've seen it all before.

Facebook is not for me I'm afraid. I know I'm a bit weird in this respect but I honestly think it is an evil thing, just my opinion though so I hope you all enjoy it, just don't forget to post here too!

Hope everyone else is well.

SlouchingPanda · 12/04/2013 22:28

I honestly didn't lie about my weight on purpose, am far too much of a goody-goody for that!

My "real" birth plan is likely to be somewhere between Vinegar's (not actually written) and Persuasion's* (please do your best to keep me alive and send me home with a baby).

SlouchingPanda · 12/04/2013 22:32

Sorry, slightly morose post. I am grumpy about having to get up at 0615 and work 12h shifts all weekend! Hopefully it won't be too bad. Night all!

VinegarDrinker · 13/04/2013 07:12

Slouching hope your weekend is as quiet and stress free as possible...

dinkystinky · 13/04/2013 07:55

ouch Slouching - hope the shifts pass quickly and uneventfully.

Glad you had a good appt Sunday and got some reassurance all is fine.

Re birth plans - i think its best to write down the things you definitely do or do not want (eg minimal chat/monitoring unless necessary, delayed cord clamping, vit k injection, no episiotomy, injection/no injection for third stage, gas and air/epidural/water/expletive-laden vocal therapy for pain relief) and give to your birth partner so they can answer those questions and leave you to it - After DS1's birth it was good all was written down re jabs etc as they did that immediately before whisking him off to SCBU and for DS2's birth the plan didnt need to leave my bag (which is the way I'd like it to be again if all goes well).

Runswithsquirrels · 13/04/2013 09:06

Morning all. I'm off to the gym in a bit for my weekly 'pretend you can still work out session' with my PT. It's a few weights between lots of chatter these days.
Looks sunny here so I hope everyone has a good weekend.

VinegarDrinker · 13/04/2013 09:09

Re birth plans I think it's worth considering stuff - if you do antenatal classes they will encourage you do to so, but don't feel as though you must have an opinion on everything if you don't feel strongly about it.

If I was to write a birth plan it would just say - interventions: whatever becomes necessary, yes to vit K, BF, home asap.

Supershiv1 · 13/04/2013 09:37

Guys. Baby Oliver Roy Williams was born at 06:45 this morning at home. DH had to give kiss of life and chest massage whilst we waited for ambulance.
He weighs about 1lb and is hooked up to lots of machines.
Please pray for us.
Ps I thought I was just constipated so didn't want to disturb anyone by waking them up at 2am when I didn't feel right. Learn from me and make a fuss.

Guavasforbreakfast · 13/04/2013 09:51

Oh my goodness, hope you are all ok shiv. I'm not much of a prayer person but will be thinking of you and little Oliver lots over the next few days. Xxx
