Hi everyone!

orange I would also be happy to join a facebook group!

Had a nice midwife appointment and everything is good, and bump is measuring perfect for 28 weeks. This little one is head down and back ro back. Only know that because midwife told me, would have no idea if not! Anyway have pretty much decided on a homebirth now as long as nothing changes and baby gets in right position for it. Midwife seemed very positive, and I am getting excited!

We are still trying to sort the house put, got the upstairs carpet going down in 2 weeks and that should be it. Not gotten anything down fromthe loft for baby as is a bit of a mess up there, so dont want to add to it...

TomDaleysTrunks · 11/04/2013 14:21

Afternoon.

Another one who is happy to join a facecrack group. Will PM you orange.

dinky hope you are having a lovely holiday in the sun. Shame about tthe icy cold water Smile

esme glad MW appt went well.

totally Don't let the bastards get you down!! Smile and ignore. Its got nothing to do with the size of your bump.

Waves to everyone else and adds ellie to my list of potential trolls Wink

Doing OK here. Had MW appt today. She initally measured me at 28 weeks but decided as she cold get her hands under my uterus to mark me as 24 weeks on the growth chart. Didn't quite get that and am now a bit concerned about havng a 15lb baby!! She had nothig to add about my right hip pain - not that expected her to suggest anything really. It is getting more and more uncomfortable.

Can't remember who asked about names. We have got 3-4 potentials for a boy and NOTHING for a girl. Plenty of time to come up with something I suppose.

photographerlady · 11/04/2013 15:34

Afternoon ladies orange I would be interested in joining a FB group, would be lovely to see everyone's baby photos this summer and share stories.

Well the poorly feeling is back today. I am leaving lthe office and catching a train from London and hopefully home in time to catch Day Assessment before they close. Was flu-ish this week and so achy. Tummy pain meant I didn't feel movement over the weekend so I rested two days off work but today I am so sore all over and my lower bump. I think the soreness is making it hard to feel movement again but midwife just asked me to pop in. What a week. I feel bad as I am sure the hospital gets its share of first time mums :/

TomDaleysTrunks · 11/04/2013 15:47

You won't be time wasting etc. They just want to check you and bump are ok! Please don't worry, hope you feel better soon. Let us know how you get on.

BB01 · 11/04/2013 15:52

Happy also to join a Fbook group but agree we don't want to let this thread die out as it's so fab!

Photographer don't feel bad; they are obviously used to it so they won't give it a second thought. Hope they can reassure you.

Totally I feel your pain re bump size!!! Also loving everybody's examples of insensitive or silly comments. Can just imagine it only gets worse if it is your second or third pregnancy!

MiniPenguinMaker · 11/04/2013 16:08

I'd like to join a Facebook group, but is it private? I haven't told all my accquaintances about the pregnancy yet and don't really want them to find out by spotting that I've joined a new pregnancy-themed group!

cheek, I've been thinking about baby names for ages but it has felt more real since finding out gender a month ago. I have a few 'possibles' but want to wait and see what the little one is like before naming her :)

orange, my friends have been weirdly obsessed by my rapidly expanding boobs too. I think it's fascination/awe that anything can grow so fast. Personally I'm spending a bomb at Bravissimo and hoping they stop growing before I tip right over. (Also - I'll PM you about the fb group - thanks for setting it up!)

26+1

IndecisivePramBuyer81 · 11/04/2013 16:29

I'm really jealous of all you ladies with little bumps - I'm massive already! Honestly, I'm bigger than some women I know who are due next month! Sad I don't really understand why I'm so big mind, baby is normal size and I'm only a little bit overweight! is it possible that it's all water? should I invest in a waterproof mattress cover in case my waters break while I'm in bed??! lol

Am also happy with a fb group btw!

Runswithsquirrels · 11/04/2013 16:50

The group is up and running and secret so only we can see - I am also not 'out' on FB as I honestly don't want the whole world knowing the minutae of my business!

BadMissM · 11/04/2013 18:00

How do we find the group on FB??? Would love to join in!

Bumps...mine's humungous....

Been for supposed hospital appt today, but in fact had scan then found out consultant wasn't there.... scan all fine (I'm getting more because of pg diabetes....)

Twinklestarstwinklestars · 11/04/2013 18:04

Badmissm you can't find it you need to be added, pm orange with your name as I'm not sure how to add people yet.

orangebubbles · 11/04/2013 18:12

Hi all, okey dokes, all set up, secret so you need to pm your Real Life/FB identity me or any of those added so far (see below)... and they will send you a friend request that you just need to accept and then that person can add you into the group.

squirrels twinkle tom esme totally and ellie can all add you (ladies, once someone has accepted a friend request you've sent just go into the group page and top left (under our pic's) is a box... add new member, just type in their name and that's it... simples!

BadMissM · 11/04/2013 18:15

Have messaged Orange with my name!!! (It's all very secret squirrel!)

SlouchingPanda · 11/04/2013 19:52

Orange I have attempted to PM you my name but phone is playing up a bit so let me know if you don't get it. Also, can't remember how private my FB settings are - give me a yell if I don't come up on a search.

27+0 today and had 28W MW appt. My slightly useless new community MW has left and the old one who knows her job inside out is back. All good. Grin

VinegarDrinker · 11/04/2013 19:58

Oooooh I get busy for a couple of days and you lot are all secret Facebooking! Will PM someone my name, I think at least one of the other medics has guessed who I am elsewhere online anyway.

28+2 today, feeling huge and wondering how on earth 12 weeks more of growing baby can fit in there trying to ignore the fact I am statistically very likely to have a 9lb-er this time

AmaDablam · 11/04/2013 20:17

Happy to join a FB group, will PM Orange with my name. Like Ellie my RL name is nothing like my MN one, which is actually after a mountain in Nepal!

Totally I completely sympathise with the small bump comments. It was really getting me down too, until I was measured by the MW who said everything was fine - now I don't really give a stuff! I can understand you would feel particularly sensitive if you had problems in your previous pg though, but if you feel you are a good size for your dates then I'm sure you probably are.

Photographer sorry to hear you're feeling rough again. I hope you got some reassurance at the assessment unit.

Think we've got our name sorted out. We've decided not to tell anyone until she's here but we have taken to referring to LO by it when we're alone (mainly because our nickname for bump was "Bob" which no longer seemed to work so well when we discovered she was a girl) so have to be really on our guard when we're around others. I just hope she likes it as much as we do!

25+4

TotallyEggFlipped · 11/04/2013 20:37

Ama you can continue to refer to your pink bump as 'Bob' - just think of Blackadder and "Bob, short for Kate" Grin

Grannyapple · 11/04/2013 20:37

Ooh secret fb group...will pm you orange

Not much to report here...absolutely shattered & 26wks tomorrow...wondering how I'm going to last til 38 wks, so I agreed with my boss to go down to 3 days/wk with the rest of my annual leave during June....plus it'll give me some 1-2-1 time with ds before dd arrives.

My friends had her ds2 last fri....50 min labour, no pain relief...I swear she just spits her babies out Grin. Going to pop in to see her with lots of home cooked food for her to keep her going.. Plus some lavender oil... That was the best tip I had from a mw last time....a bath every night with some lavender oil in it helps you to relax & sets you up for some good sleep (albeit interrupted!)....plus helps you to heal down below ...

CitizenOscar · 11/04/2013 20:43

Saw my friend today with her 2 week old baby - I'd forgotten how small & floppy they are, so vulnerable and squishy!

I won't be joining the FB group as I prefer to stay anonymous but you guys go ahead (not that you need my permission Grin).

Re: touching & comments - haven't had any inappropriate touching of bump this time (definitely did last time) but am getting "you're really small" comments. Don't mind too much as I know I'm about same as last time if not a bit bigger, and I know the 3rd trimester is all about growing (in my case anyway)!

Will be on mat leave countdown from Monday - will be 6 weeks to go! Can't wait - have been off for Easter and it's reminded me how nice it is to be at home around my family.

Best wishes to all for mw appointments, gtts and scans etc.

dinkystinky · 11/04/2013 21:04

Ah Granny and Citizen - a lovely newborn baby to cuddle. V jealous. Hope your friend recovers well from the birth. Lavendar oil is great - also a few drops of comfrey in a jug of warm water over stitches post wee is a great way of keeping them clean (blot with maternity pad - do not wipe) and helps with the healing.

Wow 6 weeks to maternity leave CitizenOscar - that sounds very soon indeed!

OP posts:
AmaDablam · 11/04/2013 21:06

[Grin] totally yep we're Blackadder fans too so had thought of that - did try calling her Kate for a while (was even on the shortlist for real for a while, as was Bobbie) but it didn't seem to stick!

bigbelly4 · 11/04/2013 21:23

re bump size - had lots of similar comments in the past few days which have been quite comforting. All along the lines that i showed really early and got big VERY quickly and now everything seems to have slowed down and i've kind of grown into my bump, which is not so huge now!

Had a rather fab pedicure this evening - feels like i'm walking on air now, and nice red toenails!

had a phone call with my mum today - all very negative and i cant possibly know how tough her life is at the moment!! (it's really not - moutains and molehills spring to mind!) knew that whatever i said it was going to be wrong so just ummed and arrh'd in the correct place. My poor dad, having to deal with her at the moment!

I'm aware i sound like a bitch, but really have had enough - there is never any possitives, even got a bollocking for not telling her (till recently) that i'm 1:30 risk of downs beacuse "how will i tell people" er, you dont need to and i dont really want you to! When i tried to expalin that i declined the amnio because id rather have a baby with downs than no baby she told me i was being naieve (sp?)

Other than that all is well, cant believe kids go back to school on monday - not too sure where the past 2.5 weeks have gone!

cheekbyjowl · 11/04/2013 21:53

That's a pity your mum is being negative bigbelly, don't let her get you down. Every child is a blessing and i'm sure she'll soften when she meets her new grandson/daughter Make sure you spend time with people who cheer you up too

Ama you are wise not to share names i think. All our choices have been poo-pooed by both sets of parents. We thought we'd throw them off the scent by throwing in some ridiculous names like 'Laser Quest' and they just say well that's a whole lot better than . Haha. There's no pleasing people :)

Penguin i liked your comment about tipping over. hehe Let's hope that doesn't happen!

Photographer how are you doing? Did you see the midwife?

tomdaley i'll swap you. I have a list of girls names but struggling with boys names.

Vinegar and others on bump size. I was relatively small until around 25 weeks maybe now i look like an inverted one-hump camel! Where does it come from? I'm sure i inflate more each day and it's only going to get bigger.!' Smallbumppeople you may have this all to come!

Dinky- or womanofwisdom- as we should call you :) hope you're enjoying your holiday.

27 weeks today. Does that officially make it the 3rd trimester? I'm not looking forward to the wee-sneezing thing at all! Getting my pelvic floor muscles going before the pollen, or i'll watering the plants with my hayfever :)

photographerlady · 11/04/2013 22:35

Night night ladies and gents. After being offered a million teas, sandwiches and biscuits I am home from day assessment. They listened to the baby for an hour, seems fine and kicked the monitor loads. Then went to the labour ward and got to check it out (slow night only three ladies giving birth). Nice ward really and put my mind at rest listening to the sounds of a baby crying the first time. Sounded easy like two minutes of mom making whale sounds and then a baby.

LO didn't like the flu and seems I am sore in my belly from stretching and being under the weather. B

CitizenOscar · 11/04/2013 22:36

Dinky - it's technically 6 weeks til the start of my annual leave but that'll segue nicely into maternity leave soon enough Wink Might have to go in for a handover at some point but it's good enough for me!

Sorry your mum is being negative bigbelly - just rise above it if you can.

It was really nice to cuddle a squishy newborn & reminded me how different they are to toddlers! My friend also had a really positive birth experience - planned C-section - after a pretty traumatic experience last time & seems so chilled as a second-time mum so I'm hoping to take a leaf out of her book (not necessarily the CS but the chilled-out-ness).

CitizenOscar · 11/04/2013 22:37

X-post photographer - glad all seems to be well.
