Slouching yes, you hit the nail on the head exactly. I feel so lucky to be given stuff but do sometimes look with envy on friends who either have decided to buy everything themselves, or are forced to. We may be saving lots of £££ which is great but a bit of me feels I am missing out on choosing all this lovely stuff myself. So I WILL continue to put my foot down on this one thing! It's our baby after all :-)

BB01 · 28/03/2013 13:54

Ha ha Cheek, love the idea of eating whichever fruit the baby is the size of every week. Well actually I don't as I'm not a big fruit lover, but the idea did make me smile!

I love the idea of a waterbirth so that's one of the main reasons that I'm pencilled in for a home birth (I say pencilled in as there's always a little bit of me that thinks I may change my mind). I don't like the idea of not feeling what's going on by having an epidural. I'll probably change my mind when I realise how much a contraction actually hurts!

PhieEl06 · 28/03/2013 14:08

Afternoon ladies, I hope you're all well, I just read through about 3 pages of the thread I needed to catch up on & didn't make any notes silly me, very sorry for not being more personal.
OH went for a job interview this morning but when he come out he realised he'd locked his phone, wallet & car/house keys in his car. I had a phone call from his best friend (only number OH knows) asking me to call his mom or his sister to go & rescue him, I am starting to worry about the man I'm having a child with... Hmm
Very boring afternoon at work today, then to top it off I am doing a shift at my other job when I finish this one at 4.30, 5.30 - 9.30, not fun at all but very much looking forward to my bank holiday weekend, off for lunch tomorrow with my best friend! Grin

Hats off to all you fruit-noshers. Today, my baby is the size of 3 chocolate biscuits end to end!*

*Disclaimer - size of baby approximate. Actual number of chocolate biscuits consumed may vary.

I was tested early for diabetes because I have a BMI of 30, I had gestational diabetes before, and my Dad and my Grandfather on the other side are diabetic... But I think it's standard if you have any one of those. I'm glad I insisted, as they found it really early.

photographerlady You can't win...they are watching me like a hawk and I'm tiny. I'm only 5'2'' and only about a size 12-14, but apparently my BMI is 30...

Totally Good luck on the house hunt

Bigbelly I was told it might stop a waterbirth because of the baby being in need of sugars as soon as it begins to separate...

Dinky Had a few movements where LO felt like he was trying to escape through my ribcage...

Thinkingof4 My DH a postman, he walks 8-10 miles a day, and they told him his BMI was high and that he was a stone overweight and should get more exercise (!!!)

Supershiv DH has been talking through the bump which makes him very excited (LO not DH!), but he also seems to like bad 80s pop!

Supershiv Dinky Even the Stones playing won't get DH to Glastonbury...his idea of hell, I love it! But as you say, might be pushing it at that point.. (dammit). Really wanted to see Blondie last year...

BB01 Haven't really been physically examined/measured at all. Weird for me as had DD in France where they examine you all the time!

Haven't actually seen my MW since about week 10....she told me she'd be in touch, but nothing so far....

BB01 We are having to buy everything as family is miles away, and as DD is 14, haven't got anything any more. Have no-one who will pass things on....
As I'm still going through an employment tribunal, quite tough...

Cheek SlouchingPanda Sick of the sight of sodding fruit! With the pg diabetes diet far too few chocolate biscuits, but wish someone would invent a new fruit...

Me.... stuck at home waiting for a parcel I missed by 2 mins yesterday. Wouldn't come back....depot 30 miles away. Told me would be delivered 7-5 today. asked for a bit more precision...told 'early' get up at stupid 7am... still not arrived. Not Royal Mail. some stupid courier....Grrr.

MightBeMad · 28/03/2013 15:00

Argh, am having a "what on earth are we going to call this baby?" day. I am just so uninspired by boys names I'm finding it really hard! I'd like to name him so I can feel a bit more bonded. Any ideas for traditional, not too popular but not too 'out there' boys names?

photographerlady · 28/03/2013 15:24

MightBeMad since I am having a girl I will share my boy name ideas:

Theo (Theodore)
Stanley (I am a massive Kubrick fan)
Luke / Lucas
Vincent

MightBeMad · 28/03/2013 16:06

Aw thank you photographer. I particularly like Theo and Luke - they will go on our list!

Persuasion · 28/03/2013 16:20

slouching you just made me snort on the train, now the people around me all think I'm crazy!

badmiss that sounds like a long time without seeing the MW, I think I'd contact them to make sure I hadn't got lost in the system.

mightbe we're a girl so you can have our boys too - we had been thinking henry, william (family name but risky with the DoC being pregnant) or benedict. I love sebastian too but DH hated it! We have our girls names down to 2 or 3 but we're keeping it secret at the moment, and may well change our minds again yet.

I had my GTT this morning, it was quite unpleasant having to fast so long, but not too bad overall, mainly just boring. I'm getting my chocolate in over the weekend now before I get the results, just in case!

esme80 · 28/03/2013 16:24

I don't get too stuck on bmi measurement, it doesn't take your build, or muscle mass into account. I know lots of people who are super fit and are overweight according to bmi (not me. Being super fit that is...)

Photographer I had Luke on my boys list too! I'm the opposite, can't find a single forks name I like...

esme80 · 28/03/2013 16:26

Forks name? Girls name I mean...

PhieEl06 · 28/03/2013 16:28

Slouching giggling uncontrollably now! I have also consumed way too many chocolate biscuits today!

MightBe as we're having a girl you can have my boy suggestions as I'm rather devastated I won't get to use mine, same as persuasion with Henry, but we also liked Freddie & Elijah.

MightBeMad · 28/03/2013 17:00

Ooh Henry is my all time favourite but we can't use it or family reasons. William and Sebastian are definite contenders. I love Freddie and Benedict but DH has vetoed :(

Esme, what kind of girls names do you like? Traditional, modern, unusual?

BB01 · 28/03/2013 17:09

BadmissM, that sounds tough [sad
I can only imagine how much it'd cost to have to buy it all ourselves which is why I feel guilty when I get envious of others who are doing just that! I realise it's often necessity rather than choice so hope I don't sound really insensitive with my whinging as I know deep down we're really lucky

BB01 · 28/03/2013 17:11

Is anybody else craving yoghurt like mad?? And cold drinks?? I could down a vat of Sprite right now and am not usually all that fussed about fizzy drinks! And Greek yoghurt, don't get me started!

BB01 · 28/03/2013 18:21

Hmm so my sad smiley didn't work then!

dinkystinky · 28/03/2013 18:44

Lol at Slouching and Esme naming her cutlery. Autocorrect comes up with the most bizarre substitutions!

Badmissm - check out freecycle in your area for baby freebies. I gave away loads of stuff we didn't need after ds2 was a baby (but kept essentials) and always see baby stuff being listed in our local one. Hope your delivery turned up.

Might be - I have a Joshua and a Daniel (but we mainly use their nicknames). Other boys names I liked were Ethan, Elliott, Lucas, Alexander, Gabriel, Raphael, Tobias and Leo - all of which were vetoed by DH so feel free to use if you like.

Pregnancy massage was BLISS - the table had holes cut out for your bump and boobs and slings to support the, underneath and it was so nice to lie on my front!

Hi all,
Liverpool Womens Hospital were brill.
Ribena is small and femur and humerus (sp?) are small, but consultant was very easy going about this at this stage of preganacy saying that there could be a spurt and there's plenty of time for things to catch up. Estimated weight @14 ounces.
Head & abdominals all bang on centre centiles. Brain, heart, face, nose, lips etc all present and correct.
Only issue is my placenta is not performing as it should be (not massively, but picked it up on doppler). Placenta to baby OK, me to placenta is the issue. So I have to go for growth scans/monitoring every 4 wks. On top of midwife and local hospital it will feel like an appt a week!!!
Ribena was very active and he commented, "Mrs Williams I am having to chase your baby" that made me Smile.
Hope all OK with everyone else?

PS BadMissM Two Tribes is NOT bad 80's pop Shock!!! It's a classic! Might get a bit of Human League out tonight and see how that goes!! ;-)

Supershiv1 · 28/03/2013 19:08

Oops should add 22+5

dinkystinky · 28/03/2013 19:10

Glad the scan went well and sounds like you are being looked after really well Supershiv. I hope its all reassuring you and your DH.

Phie - hope OH's interview went well. Sounds like he's developed sympathy pregnancy brain!

MightBeMad · 28/03/2013 19:20

Ooh glad it was a positive scan shiv and it sounds like you've got a great consultant there Smile

Thanks all for the name suggestions! I like all of them! I just can't seem to work out which is 'right' for him/us. Think I may still not have come around to him not being a girl Sad. I desperately want to start focusing on all the lovely things he is, rather than what he's not, but he needs a name... Smile

esme80 · 28/03/2013 19:26

mightbe I like quite classic names I think. DS is Samuel, I am sure that if I had found out I was having a boy I would have had loads of girls names I liked!

TotallyEasterEggFlipped · 28/03/2013 19:52

SuperShiv it sounds like Ribena is very similar to DD - I had crappy Doppler flow to the placenta and femur length was well below the 5th centile. I can't remember the specifics, but all her other measurements ranged from just below 5th centile to about 25th. I ended up being followed with repeated growth scans and dopplers then being induced at 36 weeks. In the end DD was actually just above the 10th centile for weight when she was born and is just a bit or a short arse like her dad. Sounds like you've got a great team anyway. Just wanted to say us been in a similar situation and it all went well.

MightBe I find boys names really hard too, and finding something DH and I agree on makes it a million times worse. Vetoed names do far (for various reasons - used by friends, one of us doesn't like them etc), include Thomas, Edmund, Edward, Samuel, Joshua, James, Michael, Patrick, Daniel and John. I still like William, but the whole royal connection is starting to deter me a little I think.

Phie I hope DH's interview went ok despite the car incident. It sounds like exactly the sort of thing my DH would do.

I was having a gentle walk earlier and turned around and got a sudden sharp pain at the bottom of my bump on the right. It took a while to settle, so no run for me today. Plenty of eating to keep warm though. Smile

Supershiv1 · 28/03/2013 20:22

Thanks totally that's reassuring x
