Good luck for the viewing Totally. Your Easter plans sound nice and low key too. I have tomorrow off (nice extra day of holiday from work for free :-) ) and have a pregnancy massage planned - and some tidying at home. Had parent teacher meeting with ds1's teacher and she hadn't noticed I am pregnant - lord knows how!

Big belly - that is indeed a scary thought. Ds1 was late, ds2 early, no idea when this one might turn up!

Re movements - some of them are really painful at the top of the bump. I think Bean is trying to stretch out his/her des res in there!

PS did anyone see on the BBC website about the 15lb baby? Ouch!!!

Thanks for the warning re OBEM elie, not sure whether to watch now or not. Hope you are feeling a bit better on higher dose of inhaler.
Agree with bigbelly that bmi not very accurate at times, it puts my dh as overweight when he's actually really fit just now and training for half marathon!
Re movements my baby has been giving me some really big bumps in last few days, don't know what's going on! I had a coffee at a soft play on Monday (normally just have decaff) and baby went crazy about half an hour later! Maybe coincidence but I think I'll stick to decaff from now on.
still snowy here but roads all ok thank goodness. Feel so sorry for those with no power till today, can you imagine best part of a week with no electricity or communication for that long. Also all those poor lambs that have died in the severe weather. Come on spring where are you!
Can't do any more personal messages as on phone but congrats to all those doing viability dance this week!
26+1

photographerlady · 27/03/2013 21:10

bigbelly my midwife said it would put me in high risk which will rule out a waterbirth. But hoping bloods will come out ok.

First time I am awake enough to watch OBEM. Have a lovely evening all :).

Supershiv1 · 27/03/2013 21:28

Hi all. Have my appt tomorrow let's hope there's been a spurt of the growth type!

Re movements, OH played some songs on his phone to bump the other night as I said Ribena had been quiet. Two tribes by frankie goes to Hollywood provoked a very big reaction when the intro kicked in, so much so I chucked the phone on the floor.

Supershiv1 · 27/03/2013 21:30

Also i see Rolling Stones are headlining Glastonbury. As a Glastonbury veteran they've always been the band I wanted to see there, but I think 8 months pregnant is pushing it!!!! Sad

dinkystinky · 27/03/2013 21:35

Supershiv - good luck for appt. Rollingstones back in their hey day would have been awesome - now I am not too sure they can pull off their old high adrenaline stuff given they are all grandpas. Saw Blondie live last year and whilst it was lovely and nostalgic it firmly reminded me how old their music is seeing them on stage (though I have to say Debbie Harry looks amazing for her age!)

Wow. OBEM was hard to watch, but brave brave parents Sad

Good luck for your appointment tomorrow shiv!

Night night all.

Thinkingof4 · 27/03/2013 22:36

Agree totally mightbe those parents were so brave to allow their story to be told and I have so much respect for them.
Very hard to watch but doesn't compare to what they must have felt ( and still be feeling).
RIP baby Kaiden

trustissues75 · 27/03/2013 23:04

Good luch tomorrow, Shiv - Im keeping my fingers crossed for you.

OBEM was sad - bless his little heart :(

orangebubbles · 27/03/2013 23:22

Just a quick hello from me. Hope you are all well and beans are behaving.

I am in the process of converting from disposable to cloth nappies, there are so many advantages, not least of all the cost saving and there are so many options that it needn't be any hassle at all! Easy!

photographerlady · 28/03/2013 06:19

I agree with OBEM last night. The parent when the dad mentioned that he was given so many chances in his life and how he couldn't deny his baby a chance. Makes me tear up just thinking about it, what an amazing family.

BB01 · 28/03/2013 09:09

Ellie, hope you feel better really soon!

Shelley, sounds like a worrying time but glad all seems to be ok. The movement issue really is a tricky one as it seems so common that they can have a quiet day, but it's better to be safe than sorry.

Had a MW appointment yesterday and she just said at the mo that if you feel it move every day, that's good enough. She didn't measure my bump though, which I was expecting. Anybody else had an appointment around 26 weeks and bump not been measured?? Didn't remember until after!

Thanks all re the second hand pram issue. Feel better now and not like some ungrateful, uneco, spendy idiot! She doesn't have an issue with storage and think there's other ways she could get rid, but think it was more a judging thing and why would you buy new when someone is offering a perfectly good one?! tried to explain it really wasn't the type we wanted (and didn't say anything but it was also really scruffy!) but she still seemed peeved :-/ They weren't hard up when they had there first baby so can't think it's really envy either but who knows! Thank you all anyway for making me feel better :-)

BB01 · 28/03/2013 09:10

Omg I have to apologise once again for my poor grammar. I know it should be 'their first baby'. Really really need to read my posts BEFORE I press 'Post Message'!!

dinkystinky · 28/03/2013 09:20

BB01 - lol at you apologising for your grammar - is it the pressure of knowing there are so many teachers on the thread? Don't worry about it - autocorrect and speed typing make for lots of grammatical errors on MN. At least you didn't use text speak, the ultimate MN cardinal sin...

I don't normally get my fundus measured at mW appts - the gp did it at my 26 week appt though so maybe practice varies.

Have my day off today so luxuriating in slobbing around in PJs and off for my massage this afternoon. And the sun appears to be shining too - hurrah!

OBEM sounds like it was very emotional viewing last night - the couple sound so brave. My heart goes out to them.

Hi everyone!

I have OBEM recorded, not sure if I will watch it though...

I have a midwife appointment at 28 weeks, and thats when she will start measuring fundus then. Must depend where you are...

We are like many doing work on our house. This is day 3, and last, of having plasterers in. Most walls have been covered in wallpaper, then painted, then wallpapered again! So will be nice to have freshly skimmed walls! Then painting, and getting new carpet, and finally this will start looking like a house and not a building site! Hopefully all before baby arriving...

DH is working all of easter apart from sunday, so not much of a break. So v jealous of trips to paris!

Oh and I am blaming any gramatical errors on english being my second language!

MightBeMad · 28/03/2013 10:04

Esme, you would never know so you have no worries there!!

MightBeMad · 28/03/2013 10:04

Shiv, what time is your appointment?

BB01 · 28/03/2013 10:38

Dinky, haha, it's not so much a particular paranoia because of teachers, but having wondered into other, more fierce threads before, I have a fear of getting berated for any slip-ups! I know we're far too nice on here to do that though :-)
Tbh I'm a bit of a grammar fiend myself, being a part-time writer, so am probably more sensitive to it than others. Ironic, really! esme, your posts are much more well-written than mine!

Enjoy your day off, Dinky, am envious!

Oh, glad I'm not the only one not being measured. I almost thought maybe the MW just didn't bother as my bump's still so small!!

Think I'll watch OBEM, but with the tissues at the ready.

SlouchingPanda · 28/03/2013 12:28

Hello hello!

Having a mammoth catch up session as I've been away (to see my parents in the North... no babymoon in Paris for me!).

I had my 25w GP appt yesterday and all is well. Heard the heartbeat and measured BP, checked urine etc, but think she felt a bit redundant as I've seen the consultant recently and dealt with all my issues then. She offered to measure my uterus, but I didn't feel there was much point as I can feel it's growing and I can do it myself at home.

BB glad you got your 'turning down gifts' situation sorted. I had this all weekend with family trying to foist stuff on me. I just don't feel ready to start stockpiling things (plus we don't have the space yet...), so have politely stalled them for now. Part of it is about feeling in control and deciding what we want/need ourselves rather than having someone else decide. I know they all mean well Smile.

Photographer, and other GTT-ers, hope they go ok. If they do come back high you will almost certainly be referred to antenatal clinic for further care. Do please ask WHY a lot - it's a real bugbear of mine that women are told 'you are high risk so can't have x, y and z'. It is their job to explain it to you so you can understand the risks and reasons behind their advice.

EggFlipped congratulations on your viability dance! Do you wear scrubs most of the time? They are excellent at hiding bumps - I was talking to two midwives for ages and I could see them glancing at my belly and wondering... they asked in the end, and were surprised when I 'fessed us to being 24w and showed them my bump properly! I'm feeling quite big - hopefully not 15lb baby big though Shock.

Apologies to all those I haven't namechecked - I love catching up with all your posts!

25+0 - only 15 weeks to go. Eek!

cheekbyjowl · 28/03/2013 12:28

My care plan is gp at 25 weeks for blood pressure and fundo height and mw at 28 weeks for the above plus blood count. No gtt.

When do we need to decide on type of birth we hope to have? I like the idea of water.birth but think I might want epidural as im a big whimp with not an ounce of stoicism in my body! As I understand it if I opt for water birth I cant change my mind and ask for epidural. epidurals are frowned upon.though arent they?

im.craving melon at the moment. the whattoexpect app tells you an equivalent fruit to babys size and every time I read it I get hungry, which seems a little wrong but so far ive eaten every fruit or veg mentioned apart from spaghetti squash week. Also if they ever use a durian fruit that will be a no no! Anyone else eating.funny food?

25 weeks

cheekbyjowl · 28/03/2013 12:31

Oo slouching we're due date twins!

dinkystinky · 28/03/2013 12:59

Yes, you can Cheek - my friend started off in birth centre with pool but then decided she needed an epidural so transferred to labour ward and had epidural there. No guarantee of it - but then unless you have a home birth and hire your own pool no guarantee of pool either.

I'm eating lots of veg and fruit at the moment but no odd food cravings - or at least none that seem odd to me.

TotallyEasterEggFlipped · 28/03/2013 13:21

Slouching I'm always in scrubs at work. It's great because it means I don't need to fork out for any 'work' maternity wear. I'll also be able to track my bump progress when I need to love up a size!

SlouchingPanda · 28/03/2013 13:34

Hi Cheek! I always love it when Thursday rolls around and I can tick off another week.

You can certainly change your mind about waterbirth vs epidural. With all the will in the world, you can't know what will work best for you, or how you'll cope until you're in the thick of it. As Dinky says if you are planning a homebirth it a stand-alone midwife-led unit opting for an epidural will mean transferring in to delivery suite during labour. If you are in hospital anyway it's a little easier (but possibly less chance of getting the pool in the first place). And epidurals are not frowned upon... they are a totally legitimate choice for pain relief in labour. No-one can feel the pain except you and if you want more pain relief that's your choice to make. Chat with your MW at 28 weeks - she'll give you the low down about choices in your area.

Just watching OBEM with tissues at the ready...
