Hi all,

Had the lovely dry heaves this morning! Crackers and ginger nut biscuits are my friend, am slowly chowing down on a hot cross bun...fingers crossed!

stuffthenonsense · 18/03/2013 11:12

Ginsling iI used to read magazines with my first but you need to find one that sits right with your idea of parenting. I find the best places for advice and articles etc are blogs, forums and the like.
My sickness is picking up the pace again. The nature of it so far is like with DS1 rather than DDs1-4, so unless things change again I'm currently thinking I need a boys name. DD4 wants a sister.

vix206 · 18/03/2013 12:08

Hi artyone! Yes - babybrain kicked in early with me too!!

PassTheCremeEggs · 18/03/2013 12:11

Hi artyone, welcome and congratulations!

Harv - have just had amazing lunch of smoked salmon and avocado, amazing call! Ever since you posted that I've been thinking about it and it hit the spot perfectly. Had forgotten the pregnancy cravings of needing to eat something very very specific, and needing it right now!

MotherOfCleo · 18/03/2013 12:12

hi fairy why an urgent appointment? you ok?

arty I just booked an early scan (9+1) cost £47 but it will be worth it to put my mind at rest. Wink

artyone · 18/03/2013 12:22

vix Glad to hear it's not just me, I keep leaving things behind!

CremeEggs Thanks, congratulations to you too.
I'm really craving smoked salmon now after all the mentions it's had.

MotherOfCleo I think I might do the same, just for peace of mind. £47 doesn't seem excessive for some reassurance, for some reason I thought it would be more expensive. Good luck with yours.

williaminajetfighter · 18/03/2013 12:23

So it has happened... the dreaded aversion to my beloved coffee has begun! And so soon!

It's going to be a bad 7 1/2 months for the Cafe Nero down the road. I feel like I've been keepipng them in business! :)

williaminajetfighter · 18/03/2013 12:25

Motherofcleo when is your scan? I'm getting an NHS scan on 25 March when I'll be 7 + 4 and was booked a private scan later that week. As I've paid for the downpayment I'm going to move it so I can get another scan at circa 9-10 weeks. A lorra scans....

MotherOfCleo · 18/03/2013 12:31

will its on the 4th April, so a bit of a wait but I wanted to be sure it would be a good picture? Hmm

Theicingontop · 18/03/2013 12:32

Ok, well I have my booking-in appointment on Wednesday, except it's not really a booking-in appointment it's like some group session with other women... Confused. It's something though!

BangOn · 18/03/2013 12:33

welcom arty i'm about 5 weeks gone (due 18th nov) with dc3 & even though i've had 2 easy pregnancies i'm still a bit nervous pre-scan.

ginsling for me personally, mumsnet has taken the place of the mags i used to read when dd1 was on the way 7 years ago.

CheeseandGherkins · 18/03/2013 12:41

arty welcome. Early scans can be worth it, I've always had them for medical reasons and while it is good to see what's going on; it's not always conculsive. The cost around here is nearer £100-150 for an early scan.

ginsling I agree with stuff re the baby mags. I much prefer to read online and find like minded people.

harv I'm so with you on the tiredness and lack of energy, I want to get so much done but can't do it yet. I thought it might be my iron levels but, amazingly, they're at 13.5 now! Very surprised as I ended up having an iron transfusion in my last pregnancy and that brought me up to about 8 so I don't know where all the iron has come from especially as I'm still breastfeeding.

suffolk I hate needles, got very lightheaded when I recently had a blood test and thought I was going to pass out! Glad you didn't this time

stuff I'm very odd as I never get sick in pregnancy and have seen no difference at all in what sex I'm carrying.

williamina I've had 2 scans now and have another one next Wednesday, all nhs as they queried ectopic. I'll be having quite a few scans as things progress though as they will keep a close eye on everything after my stillbirth. if I get GD again (likely) then the monitoring will increase even more.

MummaPanda · 18/03/2013 12:53

SpanishLady · 18/03/2013 13:31

Hi all - welcome arty

very lethargic - I would love to crawl into bed now and go to sleep - my DH is really not getting it!!!

WhenSheWasBadSheWasHopeful · 18/03/2013 13:48

Hi all and newbies

I've taken the day off work today, feeling guilty but I'm also feeling shit. Pounding headache, almost constant dry heaving, insomnia and so so tired.

Anyone else feeling guilty for having time off work sick?

MotherOfCleo · 18/03/2013 13:57

oh the irony, just booked an early scan then the midwife calls and books my first appt for the same day....it will be a busy day baby wise Grin

retroelle · 18/03/2013 15:09

Ugh, I have a giant spot on my forehead and I just cried at work. 6 weeks today, no nausea, but hormones x1000.

JBrd · 18/03/2013 15:25

Hello everyone, can I join you!?

Had my BFP on Friday, but it hasn't sunk in properly yet. I'm very apprehensive, as I had a mc in January, which knocked me for six. It's maybe a tad early to join, but I saw that a few of you are also still very early. I just want to be able to 'talk' to someone about it all!

I have a DS of 22 months, no problems whatsoever with that pregnancy, but now I feel like I'm walking on eggshells!

Went to the GP this morning to get a consultant referral - due to my recent medical history, this pg will not be as straightforward, and unfortunately, I will need more monitoring Confused. But whatever helps to a good outcome!

artyone · 18/03/2013 15:56

JBrd Welcome and congrats. I am on here very early too, but it's good to be able to tell someone isn't it?
Good luck with it all, hopefully with all the extra monitoring you're in good hands!

getoffthecoffeetable · 18/03/2013 16:11

Hi arty and JBrd welcome. It's good to chat on mn when you're not ready to share your news in real life just yet.
when I'm feeling quite guilty about missing work today as I'm really busy but I think I'd have felt worse if I'd passed this stupid tummy bug on to anyone so am consoling myself with that. Thought I'd catch up on some housework while I was off but have done diddly squat except slept loads and talked to my mum (who still doesn't know am pregnant).
I can't remember who asked but I got a pregnancy book which went through everything week by week which was nice. SIL has it at the moment so will have to get it back. The magazines I thought were all pretty similar so if you buy one, you'll probably not need another.
Better start pulling myself together and get ready to pick DS up from nursery.
For those of you who've got the travel sickness bands - do Boots sell them do you know and go you have to ask the Pharmacy? Thanks

Fairydogmother · 18/03/2013 16:13

Hi new people!

mother I have a thyroid problem and my bloods haven't been stable for the past 3 months so I assume that's why they want me up to the hospital fairly quickly. It's a bank holiday here so they're shut today of course!

I feel v odd at the mo - like my head is full of cotton wool. Just been over to see my mom and she had trailed all these gross baby clothes out that are about 40 years old! I just said er no thanks it's a bit early!

Fairydogmother · 18/03/2013 16:14

getoff I got sea bands in the pharmacy - were about £7. I got children's ones tho as I have wee wrists and they need to be really tight

TwoTearsInABucket · 18/03/2013 16:35

Hello everyone, I hope you don't mind if I join. I did a positive test last week and apparently I am now 4 weeks pregnant. It's my third and I have managed not to spill the beans yet, unlike with the other two where I blabbed till I could blab no more. We are going to wait until 13 weeks before we tell anyone in RL.

I have to wait until next week to make my booking in appointment with the MW. I actually don't feel pregnant at all so it hasn't sunk in yet. The only difference is that I am very very thirsty. But I am desperate to tell someone so I thought I could tell MN Smile

I am already thinking about the birth ...

SpanishLady · 18/03/2013 16:40

Hi jbrd - theres a few of us from the MC thread here x

Hi twotears - ooh lovely baby #3!

motherofcleo - am basically incredibly jealous - no appointments, no scans for me - nada - am feeling very ignored by the medical profession!!

ncsmummy · 18/03/2013 17:18

Hi all and welcome to any newcomers!

Spent yesterday at the hosp with stomach pains and bleeding Sad The doc sent me as he suspected an ectopic. Got to go to early pregnancy unit tomorrow to have my blood tests repeated and possibly a scan. My hcg levels from my test yesterday were lower than they should be so not feeling to positive, however stomach pains are all gone and touch wood no bleeding since this morning. Have been a complete emotional wreck, OH took a day off today because I was so upset that he didnt want to leave me.

Hope all is going well for everyone!
