DH has taken himself off to a party in the city and won't be here tomorrow morning. Just before he left I said 'hope the kids remember it's mother's day tomorrow'! He was not impressed. Grr! When he finally makes it back home we'll be going off the visit the grannies.

Is it really terrible that he's gone to a party and I'm just glad to have the house to myself so that I can watch rubbish tv and go to bed as early as I want? He did ask me if I wanted to come to the party but with only a day's notice, who was supposed to look after the kids!

EmmaDee · 09/03/2013 20:54

Manoodle its great isn't it! My hubby buggered off to the pub to watch the rugby and I'm loving watching keek on tv and lounging!!

Only problem is I'm gonna have to pick him up at some stage, not sure if I can cope with his drunken wittering though!

flipflump · 10/03/2013 07:00

Happy mothers to be day to everyone!! My sister sent me a card, so thoughtful, didn't know they existed and it made me cry - crazy hormonal, pregnant woman!!!!

Dorita75 · 10/03/2013 07:39

Great news dietcoke and whyriskit amazing how calm these reassurances make you, I didn't realise how worried I was until after the scan when I suddenly felt lighter somehow.

I love it when DP goes out and I can watch shit on tv, feel sick and generally not have to be sociable! Luckily his sister and fiancee live round the corner so he'll pop round some evenings so he's not sat twiddling his thumbs when I go to bed at 8pm!

I must say, I cannot wait to feel more normal again, I get hints of it when sickness or tiredness take a raincheck, it's like when you smell spring in the air, you know it's coming despite the odd cold day....

I hope you mum's get to enjoy today, demand your mum /me time!

Dorita75 · 10/03/2013 07:41

Mums not mum's. Not sure if bad grammar is my phone or my baby brain Confused

Happy mothers (and mothers to be) day everyone. Demand that breakfast in bed Grin

Girraferama · 10/03/2013 09:45

Hey everyone just found a cute little app for the iPhone called 'Belly Booth' - you take a photo of you bump (or lack of) each week and it puts together a time lapse of it as it develops!

WaggyBlueElf · 10/03/2013 10:16

Happy mother's and mothers-to-be day everyone. I'm at my parents' and my dad gave me a card from the dog and bump this morning...so sweet. He can't wait to be a grandad. He's now on the computer trying to find me a new car (I'm going to need a MUCH bigger one to transport said dog and a baby around when we go away as a family). He and my brother are cooking as well, so I'm being well and truly spoilt today!

Hope everyone else is having a lovely day too. Strange to think this time next year I'll be a mum for real (all being well) Smile

JammyTummy · 10/03/2013 11:00

Happy Mother's Day (and mummys to be) day!

Waggy I got a card and a present from the dogs too! And a card from bump- saying it already loved me so much! Que hormonal welling up...

Eeeknumber3 · 10/03/2013 11:38

manoodle ha ha, glad it not just me, DH went on Friday to stag do in Germany and not back til tonight, was so excited about being able to snore on sofa and watch rubbish. DD,DS and I got in our massive bed last night and watched dancing for comic relief thing and the cube, whilst eating cheese puffs....bliss! Am so rock n roll! Then they even managed to bring me cards and a bear and a mug this morning, they'd hidden them with daddy on Friday until today! Bless em, there only 6 and 4...

Eeeknumber3 · 10/03/2013 11:39

They're even..

Happy Mother's Day mums and mums to be!

I have a bit of a random question that I was hoping someone could answer. I'm not sure if it is the same at every hospital but I read somewhere that the delivery suites are not private on a normal ward. I am going to st Thomas' at this point but things may change. Anyone know if this is correct??

Creamtea1 · 10/03/2013 14:46

choccie in my experience the delivery suite is always private (one mother per suite) and then after you have had the baby you will be moved to a ward which mostly likely will have 2-4 other mums and babies in it. If all goes smoothly you would probably only be on the ward a few hours anyway.

WhizzsMum · 10/03/2013 14:57

Ladies, I am sharing the pain of mothers day and not actually getting the full benefits. DH decided it would be a good idea to play golf this morning Angry which meant I had to get up at 6:30 with DD who was way too excited about giving me her cards (4 in total). However, I too did get a card from the bump which caused happy hormonal outburst for the next 5minutes. DD was very confused as we haven't told her yet.

I would also like to celebrate surviving a day without my sickness bands on Grin. Looking forward to saying goodbye to MS and hello to my libido again Wink

Dorita75 · 10/03/2013 15:03

A breakthrough!!! I've made a chilli, in the kitchen (that usually makes me hurl), in the afternoon (my peak nauseous time) Things are definitely on the up!!!

Not as brave as you though whizzsmum the bands aren't coming off yet [worried]

Happy Mothers and Mothers to be day everyone Grin

CharlW1 · 10/03/2013 16:38

Hope everyone is having a lovely mother's day.

I have spent the weekend with my parents, sisters and 2 nephews - we all live in completely different parts of the country so it's lovely when we all meet up, though nervous not to have any family near by when baby comes.

My sister gave me 2 big bags of maternity clothes - I shouldn't have to buy a thing! both my sisters couldn't believe how big my bump is for only 14 +3! my older sister said she only thinks she had a bump my size at 5 months - I am seriously going tohave to up putting more coca butter on to prevent stretch marks (plus stop eating so much!).

juniper9 · 10/03/2013 18:45

I've developed a bump this week but keep doubting myself as I'm only 11 weeks pregnant. I'm petite a short arse and have a slight build, so I don't know if that means I'll show sooner or not. I've not put on any weight so I don't think it's just fat or bloat.

JoCheshire10 · 10/03/2013 19:26

Juniper I've got a bump too-I'm 12 weeks but had it for a couple of weeks now...glad it's my scan this week as the net is closing-no way I can hide it any longer! Grin

chocciemousse · 10/03/2013 19:47

Thanks creamtea. That's good to know. Smile

fl0b0t · 10/03/2013 20:56

Ignoring M/day as I do most "hallmark holidays"- but sent cards to mother and MIL because they like it! Spent the day stressing about kitchens, watching the rugby, making complicated spreadsheets about aforementioned kitchen stress and having a bath to try to ease the stress. Still feeling crappily nauseous, but I'm 12wks tomorrow and scan date on tue which cheers me up a little.

Not sure about a bump or not, I'm still down 4kg on pre-pregnancy weight (sorry!) but I've lost a lot of muscle with decreased exercise (boo), so bely is now poking out amusingly.

Farting like crazy, thrush calming down a little (found a tube of some old cream in the bathroom, checked on internet, used it anyway Sad), sick as a grumpy dog!

I. Will. Cheer. Up.

Probably.

Readytosettle · 10/03/2013 21:41

I'm miserable today too flo. Feeling very sicky/under the weather & suffering from nasty pain in my left abdomen (I'm assuming it's ligament related), feels like period pain but too far over to one side. Have been curled up on the sofa with a hot water bottle & some paracetamol which seems to have helped. But still feeling rough & very sorry for myself :-(

Roll on Tuesday!

frogchops · 10/03/2013 22:46

Just a quickie although that's what got me here in the first place! to say hello, sorry some are feeling crap and yay for any imminent scans! I'm fast approaching my loooooong awaited damn scan and I'm still petrified. Anyway, I can't think of much else other than milk and jacket spuds with cheese. That is all. :-/.

beans37 · 11/03/2013 08:09

Choccie, I had my first 2 DDs at St Thomas's. I had no intervention with them, so gave birth in a private suite in Hime from Home and got to stay there for a bit. 24hrs with first as they had missed my waters breaking 3 days earlier, so had to stay in in case of infection. It's lovely there as DH can stay with you too on a sofa bed thing.
But I think if you have intervention, you still have private birth then move onto a ward after. But, if all goes ok, they tend to let you go home fairly quickly x
