I went to the doctor with thrush as the pharmacist would'nt sell me anything and the doctor said that the stuff they prescribe is different than what you get atthe pharmacy - however, when I collected my prescription it was exactly the same as you would buy at the chemist. I was quite fortunate though as Ihad a newly qualified doctor who was lovely but obviously had never suffered a bout of thrush in her life as she prescribed me a '7 day' course which consisted of 2 x tubes of cream and 6 pessaries! 1 pessary and some cream cleared it so at least I am now well stocked!

fl0b0t · 08/03/2013 21:09

I'm sure I don't have any cream at home! So itchy and throbby! :( I don't think its a uti ( but don't know for sure) think its just thrush. fidgets

Sorry for terrible typing and predictive text errors. Usully been in bed for n hour by now.....

jennimoo · 08/03/2013 21:13

I don't even really remember the cord and placenta, although I know the MW asked if I wanted a look when it was all done and I did look.

I think most people are so awe struck at having suddenly gained a newborn that all that stuff is at the back of your mind.

TripleRock · 08/03/2013 21:15

During my last preg I got to the point of having to change my knickers twice a day, due to said moisture mentioned upthread... One of those things no one warns you about!

This time forewarned is forearmed and I have invested in some pantyliners to save on the washing Grin

jennimoo · 08/03/2013 21:18

Flobot - what about live yogurt or actimel? Don't know if that's just an old wives tale?

I had it a while back and it was keeping me awake at night and I did find a wash with very cold water made it feel better for a bit. Or perhaps an ice pack ;)

fl0b0t · 08/03/2013 21:48

Cheers Jenni....think I've only got petit filous!!!

SGJ · 08/03/2013 22:35

I did NCT last time and they banged on about the virtues of waiting for the cord to stop pulsating, however once born, it turned out DD's cord was too short for her to even be placed on my chest, so quickie snip and injection was what happened instead! Not that I found this out until about an hour later, didn't even notice I'd been injected as I was too busy being awed at holding my baby for the first time!
Good job I wasn't fussed about sticking to a particular birth plan!

WhizzsMum · 08/03/2013 22:52

Evening all. Kitten I'm intrigued you're craving salt too, will be really interesting to see what we both have and see if there is any relevance to the old wives tale. Lexy thanks for sharing research, it kind of makes sense, but I never craved salt with DD, so perhaps I had enough salt already with her. Who knows?

kim yes to the red spotty chest, feeling rather gorgeous right now!!

frog I had lots of itchyness last time with DD, and I was told it was due to my skin stretching (I had a flat tummy back then) but not being hydrated enough. I used mum2be covent garden collagen boosting body butter. It is amazing, stopped the itching, prevented stretch marks and I have been using it from the start this time. No itchyness as of yet to report!

With regards to placenta business, all I remember from DD, is that when I was doing skin to skin with her seconds after birth, the midwives were playing a game of tug of war with the cord attempting to pull my placenta out in time with my continuing contractions. No one ever told me about the continuing contractions which freaked me out more than the tug of war game bizarrely Confused Blush

Appolgies for epic post,I only get to login in the evenings so have a lot to say after catching up with everyone Smile

badguider I'm a uni lecturer too. Though employed directly rather than self-emp. I love it, best job in the world! (Most of the time)...
I told my 3 school friends today, great to have some positive (albeit shocked) reactions!!
I have also just done the big Facebook reveal before someone slips up... 15.5 weeks so have had time to tell most of the imp people in person first...
YY to the moistness (?!)
Am also def experiencing the 2nd trimester libido surge, ahem. Having to set the alarm a bit earlier to stop me thinking about it all day Blush

andadietcoke · 09/03/2013 08:54

So, have had a few days away from MN because I got myself in a bit of a state about the scan.

Everything was fine, and both twins are the right size and okay, but they couldn't do any of the measurements because one was curled up and asleep and the other was stretching - it meant one measured at 13+3 and one at 12! Their positions meant they couldn't do the NT measurements either but apparently with twins 'you get another go' so I'm going back on Tuesday before my AN appt. I was there for over two hours in the end and the poor little things were prodded, shaken and coughed at but they weren't for moving. The consultant said to brace ourselves as they were clearly naughty.

Creamtea you'll be pleased to know we've found twins in the family. My dad told his dad I was expecting twins to be told 'oh there's lots of twins in the W family!'. Grandad's sister (who he doesn't talk to, so we didn't know) had twins (one died, another reason we didn't know) and there are lots of others. My dad is one of three brothers, who would all carry it, but it wouldn't affect them, just their daughters (or my brother's daughter if he were to have them). My sister's now petrified!!

kimjayne · 09/03/2013 09:08

Whizzsmum - so glad it's not just me with the fetching polka dot chest! Is yours a tad itchy by any chance?

All this talk of angel sounds doppler is making me want one .. But I always said I would avoid them as Im such a panicker and I know I would be franticly checking for the heartbeat all the time and If for some reason I can't find it I would really worry.

Was tempted to go to the local prenatal yoga this morning at 9am but chickened out at the last minute. Still feeling a but like it's too early ... Especially because I still have no obvious bump!

Readytosettle · 09/03/2013 09:38

Glad to hear all is well dietcoke :-)

Creamtea1 · 09/03/2013 10:04

Wow love the twin family info coke, I bet you were thinking 'now you tell me!' :) here's hoping your second scan will let them get all the measurements, not long till Tuesday at least.

Whyriskit · 09/03/2013 10:18

NT results back today, 1:1784. By age should by 1:348 so really pleased! Can finally tell people! Grin

Creamtea1 · 09/03/2013 10:41

Mat jeans question ladies - for anyone who has already got/bought - how would you rate topshop vs red herring debenhams vs next vs h&m ? I'm after skinny vintage wash (not dark dark) with the stretchy panel and not just the stretchy pocket inserts.

kimjayne · 09/03/2013 11:24

glad to hear you got your NT results back Whyriskit! And pretty good too. I had my scan the same day as you I think. With any luck mine should be here soon too... come on postman! !

Whyriskit · 09/03/2013 11:49

creamtea - I got some v comfy ones from red herring on ebay although they're bootleg and they're great. Had next last time but they didn't last me the whole time. Had h&m trews for work which were fine but totally done by the time I went on mat leave.
Kimjayne - hoping you've not got too much longer to wait!

KamikazeeKid · 09/03/2013 16:07

Omg!!! Mothers day came early. ...a 3 hour nap. .....A 3 HOUR NAP!

hee hee...for anyone on dc1...enjoy lazy preg time as you can probably tell its a luxury with other dc lol!!

Anyone else who has had a scan not shared the news yet? Im nearly 15 weeks and had my scan and nuchal risk and had blurted this time last time but due to an issue I've kept quiet so doesn't get back to them. I'm actually enjoying it being our secret!

JoCheshire10 · 09/03/2013 16:25

I do wonder how people manage pregnancy exhaustion with another child!

Seem to have started with bad moods today, poor dh Hmm he's being lovely but want to shout at him constantly! I'm sitting in living room trying to avoid him and poor mans gone out shopping I'm sure to escape!

Scans not till Tues, but looking forward to seeing little one finally. Good luck to everyone with scans this week-hope all goes well

fl0b0t · 09/03/2013 16:40

Yay another Tuesday scan! DH forcing me to book Dr appt about thrush (embarrassed!) But can also enquire about changing my meds.... Just realised, no wonder I'm sleeping so much as current meds are antihistamines.... Durr!

Creamtea1 · 09/03/2013 16:57

Have a question re mothers day - which incidentally I think I hate! Is it just my house where even though I am the mum of 2, mothers day always is about me having to cook dinner for/buy suitable present etc/generally pamper my (non working) mum? she just popped round and I swear was loitering thinking I would give card/present etc today so she could open in the morning. But I thought no - you can open when you come here tomorrow whilst im cooking the dinner etc. So does this mean I won't get a mothers day 'rest' until I'm a grandma?
Grr just generally in a bad mood today. My brother sent a card and voucher to her in the post - now if I had done that there would have been an almighty scene!

TripleRock · 09/03/2013 17:12

Agree Creamtea.

We are off to MIL for the day tomorrow, seems to be the Grandmas that get the benefit of Mothers Day.

Although, I am really excited as we're breaking our news to DHs family en masse tomorrow, eeeeeee!

redandyellowandpinkandgreen · 09/03/2013 18:13

I have to say with DC2 you just have to moan about being tired but don't get the naps! I've been going to bed quite early. I feel rough today and that's been hard especially as DH is working but the second he gets back I'm clocking off.

KamikazeeKid · 09/03/2013 18:20

Mothers day morning at grannys (mil)
Afternoon making myself food. ..football is on being the excuse!!!!!!??????
