Yes, Edinburgh people, we do find out the sex (if we want!).
Still feeling very sick and haven't had a 20 week scan date - maybe mw will tell me at 16 week appt!

kimjayne · 19/03/2013 21:14

Glad it's not just me then andadietcoke! did you like it? How cute was that dad who's wife had a water birth? Did you see how emotional he got? Bless. I loves their midwife (the one with the blonde hair) she was fab. The ones I've met so far have been really miserable :( and I've not seen the same one twice yet. So fingers crossed I get a good one on the day.
I have recoded the programme and Im gonna get my DH to watch it one night. I feel like I actually learnt a few tips from it too, which is handy.

Creamtea1 · 19/03/2013 21:24

badguider that is about right for first baby but I was convinced would have felt some by now as its my third..I thought I had but thinking now it was tummy/wind Hmm

Had everyone else noticed there's not been a mention of poo for days now? :) maybe that suffering has passed too!

kimjayne · 19/03/2013 21:52

Just a quick question, my friend has bought me some lovely Clarins products as a gift for pregnancy. She apparently used them all when she was preggers too. One of the things she's given me is a body tonic treatment oil! It's to help heal the skin (similar to bio oil). I read some good reviews from women who used it whilst.pregnant too. But apparently it's got Rosemary oil in it! Which we can't use can we? is anyone else using anything and what would you girls recommend for reducing stretchmarks?
Smile

CharlW1 · 19/03/2013 21:52

Thanks Kim definitely going to get OH to watch it with me - I have no idea how he'll be at the birth as I am sure he has absolutely not a clue what to expect and always walks out the room when OBEM is on best friend on stand by

JoCheshire10 · 19/03/2013 22:04

Wow lots of people on the thread new-welcome!

My MW said that Sept was a mini bang boom and looks like she's right! Smile

CharlW1 · 19/03/2013 22:10

I love Clarins Kim but yes Rosemary oil should be avoided during pregnancy. I am using all my body butter and lotions I got for Christmas - currently using soap and glory which I love.

Kittenkatzen · 20/03/2013 07:45

No movements here yet either. Only 14+6 though so not too worried.

Welcome newbies! spesh9 your username is my DHs pet name for me Grin

redandyellow £50 to know the sex ShockShock that's outrageous!!

kim I have a Shea oil from the body shop that was a Christmas gift, have been using that and it's lovely - and smells divine Smile

kimjayne · 20/03/2013 08:18

Cheers for the recommendations Charl and Kitten! I might just keep the Clarinda stuff for after baby arrives. Unless they let me swap them at boots? Anyway, I have some Trafford Centre vouchers left over from my bday which I might invest in some body butter.
Charl did you catch any of the bbc3 programme last night? It was fab. Get some tissues at the ready though.

kimjayne · 20/03/2013 08:18

Haha, not sure who Clarinda is? But I was meant to say Clarins. X

Girraferama · 20/03/2013 08:32

Morning all, my hospital (Exeter) has information on their website about the scan ( you might have to search for 'anomaly scan') which answers the key questions incl whether they will tell you the gender. Anyone else worried about finding out and it being wrong though? My friend works in a baby shop and says they had 5 couples last year who found out then it turned out to be wrong! Might just be poor hospital though!

andadietcoke · 20/03/2013 08:42

giraffe that happened to a colleague. So now I'll take it with a pinch of salt, especially since they don't seem to comply with anything the sonographer wants them to do! At least I'll have scans every 4 weeks so a few more goes at it!!

Creamtea1 · 20/03/2013 09:58

girrafe it happened to me nearly 6 years ago with ds2! Said a girl and then had to have a late scan because of low lying placenta at which point friendly sonographer said it was a boy!

jemimahpuddleduck · 20/03/2013 10:15

Morning all and welcome new ladies.

I missed the BBC programme but just looked online and it's on again tonight at 19.00 if anybody else missed it.

badguider · 20/03/2013 10:22

giraffe - I'm a bit militant about avoiding gender-specific accessories, clothes and toys (unless given to us as presents) until the child can choose for themselves so if they get it wrong the only issue will be the name we've chosen.

Might see if i can get that bbc3 programme on catchup..

JammyTummy · 20/03/2013 11:07

What is this programme everybody is talking about??

badguider yes I'm an ERI girl too! Is the birth centre the bit you go to if you don't have any complications/ are low risk?

I've been using MamaMio Boob Tube and Tummy Rub. It's not the cheapest but it feels so nice, and in the early days of morning sickness that lovely lemony scent was one of the only things that not only didn't make me want to vom but actually smelt really nice!

JammyTummy · 20/03/2013 11:11

Ps Tuck Cheese Sandwiches. Oh My God.

frogchops · 20/03/2013 11:52

So I just called my maternity u it and explained that I was far too blubbery, teary, emotional wreck excited to remember to book my 20 week after the scan..... She said its booked now on 3rd may. I'll be exactly 20 weeks. :) seems ages away considering u lot all have appts and scans quite soon. Am only 13+6 today :-/

astroming · 20/03/2013 12:02

Had my scan this morning was i the last. Was so happy to see a wriggly little bean in there and we even got a wave!

Nuchal was 2.4 which seemed quite high until i saw that i had been dated 13.2 instead of 12.5 that the private scan had dated me. Has anyone else been moved forward to a date that couldnt possibly mean they had concieved when they did?!? Its good tho...nice to be moved forward. Grin

andadietcoke · 20/03/2013 12:31

astroming yep, and if DH were to work it out he'd find that I was away with work staying in a hotel, and nowhere near him Blush

I went from 13+4 to 14+0.

LexyMa · 20/03/2013 12:55

badguider I will be militant in that way too... if the issue even arises (DH wants to find out at the 20w scan, I don't). Even if we do find out, I won't be telling anyone, but I would guess DH might tell his parents and they will certainly go pink mad if it is a girl. Mind you, it'll all be nylon either way.

I am wearing a jersey dress to work and so far three people have, totally unprompted, asked me when I'm due. Yikes! So I think it is time to put away the 'normal' clothes and start letting it all hang out. I was amazed on the last couple of episodes of Call The Midwife that people were wearing corsets in late pregnancy. The lady that was hiding her pg so she didn't get sacked from her typing job was one thing, but Chummy girdling up to put her nursing uniform on was quite another!

Spesh9 · 20/03/2013 13:00

Glad to hear you got your date frogchops, mine is 9th May and can't wait!

My dating scan pushed me from 12+1 to 13+2, which I don't think can really be right as I'm sure of my last period date but still nice to go forward.

I read that anything below 2.5 on nuchal scan is generally considered normal.

BinarySolo · 20/03/2013 13:08

Burts bees do really lovely moisturisers. They also do a momma bee kit. Keep dropping hints to dh for that! Sanctury stuff is lovely and they do a mum to be kit too.

Been sick again today. Really thought I'd finished with that but clearly not.

Have also been doing extensive research into slings and am ebaying a load of belly dance gear and nappies (separate lots!) to try and find my purchase. Am going to try and visit my local sling library on Friday to see the slings in the flesh. It's lovely to be able to research so thoroughly and spend a bit extra as I pretty much have everything else I need.

Oh and £50 to find out the sex??? Shock that's seriously profiteering. Disgusting!

34PinkLadyApple · 20/03/2013 13:12

Had my '12' week scan yesterday (when I would have been exactly 12 weeks going by my last AF) but they dated me 12.6. I kinda thought they would as I knew our dates..

First day of last period: 26th Dec
Did the deed: 2nd Jan at night (CD8/9), onlytime that month!
AF due: 23rd Jan (didn't appear)
BFP: 24th Jan!

So it looks like I ovulated pretty early!

astroming · 20/03/2013 13:16

Ha its funny isnt it...good job our other halves dont seem the suspicious kind.....immaculate conceptions hmmmm. Whats worse is when they look as you as if your silly but i def know when i ovulated!!

Have been looking at slings too...the Kari Me ones have good reviews and look fab. Feel so relieved at having had the scan and can tell people and now look at baby things.

Researching and making lists are my two favourite things Smile
