I'm 15 weeks today and still no sign of 20 week scan date. Also, still waiting for midwife to ring me back to give me the date of 16 wk app. Hope she tells me soon, could end up being a nightmare with work. Talking of work, has anyone else not told work yet? I'm sure they must know but I'm too scared to say anything! Silly I know. Must get a grip and get on with it!

TripleRock · 19/03/2013 10:35

Hi all, I have my NHS scan on Friday (14 weeks) so I think I am bringing up the rear!

Just wondered if we could have a show of hands of who is still suffering from nausea, sickness or generally shitty feelings post 12-13 weeks?

Tat71 · 19/03/2013 10:51

Unfortunately still nausea, vomiting & tiredness at nearly 15 weeks... Afraid nausea lasted well beyond this in my two previous pregnancies, though it's worse this time for some reason

jemimahpuddleduck · 19/03/2013 10:57

Thanks kitten and Flo it went ok boss was very nice, however I have 3 bosses and the other 2 still don't know yet. The first boss I told wants to tell them so don't feel 100% happy until they know. At least it's not me doing it.

Got my 16 week appointment on the 27th and my scan is on 19th April when I will be 19+2 is anyone else having theirs that early?

With regards to swimming I have been going and really enjoying it.

badguider · 19/03/2013 11:47

I'm 15+5 and no word about the scan so I phoned up just now and found out it's 9am on 24th April - yay! I'll be 20+6 already by then, time's flying by.

I don't see my midwife for my "16 week" appointment till 18+5 because she's on holiday... but I'll assume that means all my bloods etc from booking in came back healthy and i'm still as low risk as I was at booking.

Kittenkatzen · 19/03/2013 12:01

Oooh mrsmustard EnvyEnvy at your Caribbean holiday!

triplerock I'm 14+5 today and still feeling pretty crappy. the tiredness has eased slightly (I can just about make 10.30pm before passing out now!) but whilst I had barely any sickness early on, I've been noticing some mild but quite frequent nausea over the last week or so. Also seem to be much more headachey at the moment :(

I treated myself to a maternity tankini the othr day as my regular swimming cossie is looking, erm, unflattering now! Will be putting it to use this weekend I hope :) Shame about having to avoid the sauna though.

16wk midwife appointment next Thursday, really hope we get to hear the hb. Have resisted the temptation of a doppler so far as I know that way madness lies for me!

Belvedere · 19/03/2013 12:03

Im sorry for those waiting for scan dates, must be so fustrating! I made mine at the hospital when I had my 12 week. Ill be 19 exactly at my 20 week and its only two weeks away. So exciting!
Hopefully we can find out what we are having as DP and I cant agree on any names!
Had my 16 week check today which was all good. Took the student midwife a while to find the heartbeat which was a bit scary but the other midwife found it in no time.

Manoodledo · 19/03/2013 14:01

Quick survey question: are they willing to tell you the sex of the baby at the 20 week scan in your area? They won't tell you here and they wouldn't tell you where I lived previously either, so I was assuming this was pretty much the norm, but maybe not.

andadietcoke · 19/03/2013 14:20

Definitely do in Stockport but there are signs up saying it's not 100% accurate and that you have to ask them to look at the beginning of your scan. I'm tempted to ask when I go for my 16w scan next week just on the off chance!!

Creamtea1 · 19/03/2013 14:57

coke they should be able to tell you at your 16 week scan - although your two may be harder to catch in a good position :)
They will tell you at my hosp but I don't think we are going to find out - I will just scrutinise/obsess over the scan pics for the next 20 weeks instead!
Glad to hear all the scan news and heartbeat sounds. My 16 week appt is Monday so hoping mw will use a Doppler then - particularly as not been feeling many flutters at all. I wonder if I have a low lying placenta as had that with ds2 but it moved back round to the right place by the end.

JammyTummy · 19/03/2013 16:47

I can't remember who asked- but I have the Angel Sounds Doppler, and I really like it. It took me a while to find the beat the first couple of times, but now that I know roughly where baby is I get it pretty much straight away!

My MW apt is next week and I also have t heard from mine since last time, so I assume all is well. Manoodle I know in Edinburgh they tell you at your 20 week scan but not before.

I got so frustrated at having to wait over a month for my next scan I ended up caving and booked a 2d baby sexing scan for next Thursday. Oh I am far far far too nosey!!!

EmmaDee · 19/03/2013 16:56

Jammy it was me who asked bout the Doppler, I tried a few times and I kept finding my own pulse ( I take it we have some big artery down there? Not medically minded!!) But this morning I found it, a wee heart beat going like the clappers, such relieve as i haven't felt preggers in over a week. Phew Grin

Ion have an appointment with mw tomorrow bout slapped cheek. Bl**dy diseased kids!

funkky · 19/03/2013 17:15

Just randomly crashing in from the Oct thread.

Met a lady at MW appointment last week at st Helier hospital. She lives in Sutton same as me and we got on so well, she mentioned she was on this Sept bus, but last minute panic as we were in the wrong waiting room (probably got too chatty) and were late for our MW appointment by the time we finally found the right place to go in the hospital. We didnt even ask each other's names just constant baby chatter.............

In the chaos, we got seperated (obviously) and she seemed to have issues with her MW date, just hoping if you read this, please PM me, will like to know how you got on.

Glad you ladies are doing great and you are sooooo far along than we are on the Oct bus........thanks!

34PinkLadyApple · 19/03/2013 17:40

Crashing from Oct thread too. Had my scan today and I've been put forward 6 days (EDD Sep 25th) so I will lurk here too if you don't mind ladies.

KamikazeeKid · 19/03/2013 18:07

Welcome newbies!

flip I've not told work yet but sure ppl are wondering why I'm letting myself go!!!

My baby hating boss, a woman, will not react well. I will have to tell them within 4 weeks as we have a big overnight event where I will have no way of hiding it!

flipflump · 19/03/2013 18:36

Kamikaze I know what you mean, I think my bump is huge, there's no way they haven't noticed it. Good luck when you tell your boss. I might try to blurt it out before I finish for Easter.

Dorita75 · 19/03/2013 19:08

Welcome new ladies!

Belvedere I've got my scan on 19th, I'll be 19 weeks exactly jemima so bit early but obviously okay with hospital. Seeing midwife next week for 16wk appointment so will check.

Spesh9 · 19/03/2013 19:20

Hello everyone

This is my first post here but had my dating scan today and so excited and bubbling over that just needed to talk to somebody about it.

Scan was amazing - sonographer kept saying how well behaved baby was being (long may that last!) and got a lovely picture and a really good view of everything. (DP even thinks he spotted a little something and is now convinced we are having a boy but I'm keeping an open mind).

Very excited to learn that I'm a week further on than I thought and at 13+2. Time has been going so slowly since we found out so very happy to have jumped a week!

Now just need to think about telling work - only been there 3 months so there are definitely going to be some raised eyebrows. Feeling pretty nervous about it, any tips?

Anyone else have their scan today? Would love to hear how they went.

X

Creamtea1 · 19/03/2013 20:05

Hi ladies, welcome to all the new people! :)
Today's worry - still no perceivable movements. Also, woke up this morning after a nice long sleep and it's like someone flicked a switch - no nausea, no tiredness, no actual feeling pregnant. Have eaten my normal low carb diet today and had no cravings or that churning stomach feeling. Arrgh the worry is non stop!

redandyellowandpinkandgreen · 19/03/2013 20:24

They charge £50 here if you want to know the gender at your 20 week scan!

kimjayne · 19/03/2013 20:38

Is anyone watching BBC3? There's a programme on.about dads learning about labour and how to be a good birthing partner from midwives! It's quite good.

CharlW1 · 19/03/2013 20:42

Welcome to the new people - such a good group to be part of and we talk a lot! Smile

Has anyone else suffering with water retention yet - I'm nearly 16 weeks and I thought I wouldn't suffer with this till towards the end (it is my first so I might be being naive!) but woke in the night and hands were swollen and my ankles are a bit too - I will mention it to the midwife on Thursday.

I haven't felt anything yet but speaking to my sisters and neither of them felt anything until nearer 20 weeks.

badguider · 19/03/2013 20:42

I am pretty sure we do get told the gender here (Edinburgh).
JammyTummy - are you in Edinburgh too? You're due two days before me, we could be birth buddies! Are you going to the ERI? I hope to be in the Birth Centre there if all goes well..

DH and I had our first convo about names today, and he LOVES the first boys name I said and doesn't want to discuss it any further - he's sold Grin
Girls are harder (for both of us) but we're closing in on a short list.

badguider · 19/03/2013 20:47

Creamtea - I haven't felt a single movement either but my bible book doesn't talk about feeling the first movements till about weeks 18/19/20.

andadietcoke · 19/03/2013 21:00

Thanks for that kim am now crying my eyes out!

I've been having tickling type flutters on both sides, but don't know whether that's movement or not.
