creamtea just had my first dose. Didn't realise I had to get my prescription filled at the hospital so ended up with dispersible aspirin from the chemist. Nearly threw it all back up!

Dorita75 · 12/03/2013 21:19

That made me laugh Charl, thought Keith itching was some new syndrome! I'm itchy, shins and round my waist mostly so I've also been slapping on lovely soap&glory body butter-got loads of body moisturizers for Christmas, all coming in handy now.

flobot I'm the same, become fatter during the day. My friend has offered me some maternity clothes so until I see them at wkend I don't want to buy anything yet, but it's getting closer, just my fat day clothes left for rest of the week!

Fabulous news on all the good scans, well done ladies for growing such perfect little ones.

frogchops · 12/03/2013 21:20

Thanks got the folic acid info, I won't worry so much now. I'm also very glad someone else has itchy shins!!! My shins and calves are red raw from itchiness!!

frogchops · 12/03/2013 21:21

Just wondering.... What's the aspirin for??

CheeseStrawCraving · 12/03/2013 21:27

Hey y'all, just checking in to say hello, and huge congrats for excellent scans! Well done us.

Yy to the itching, massively all over but have fifteen ton of body butters as usually too lazy to bother with them. Might have to start using them up now, try to avoid the dreaded stretch marks Confused

Yy also to the skinny mornings and fat evenings, that's why I'm convinced it's just bloat and not baby!

Ps re Mcflurrys... DH is a chef so has just made me some vanilla ice cream in the industrial ice cream machine. Half an hour til I can scoff! Lovely man.

andadietcoke · 12/03/2013 21:28

For me it's to decrease the risk of clots and make sure my blood can get around properly. Partly a twin thing because clots are more common with multiples I think, partly 'because I'm on the plumper side of life' as the lovely doctor today put it!! The nicest way I've ever been called a fatty Smile

Creamtea1 · 12/03/2013 21:34

Another itchy shin person here!

frog for me it's because I had pre-eclampsia and high BP in last pg, so apparently it's a fairly new NICE guideline to say 1 a day aspirin thru the whole pg to keep BP down. Was news to me. I was also supposed to get my prescription from the hosp but was a 2 hr wait so didn't bother and bought some in the same dosage from the chemist instead.

Readytosettle · 12/03/2013 21:49

We just told the great grandparents to be on Skype....they leapt up, shrieked & then burst into tears (grandad is 80!)....best reaction so far :-)

Kittenkatzen · 12/03/2013 21:51

cheesestraws EnvyEnvyEnvy at you having a DH with an industrial ice cream maker on hand!

GirlWithTheYellowHat · 13/03/2013 07:42

My scan yesterday went great, they changed my dates to 11th September making me 13+6 yesterday by my dates I'm 13+3 as I know what day I DTD! Nucal was 1.7 but she tried for over an hour to get the crown to rump measurement for the rest of the downs screening but baby wasn't playing ball at all. It was lying in the wrong position and no amount of jumping, wiggling, eating or walking could make it move. SO I'm away back in at 9.20 this morning to try again! A nice extra wee scan! Need to take my big baby with me so I hope she behaves Smile

Eeeknumber3 · 13/03/2013 08:01

creamtea just to let you know I waited nearly a fortnight for my slapped cheek immunity results, which apparently is the norm, as the virology takes time to develop? Despite having being told by the GP it would be back within 4 days!

flipflump · 13/03/2013 09:17

This may have been done before but can anyone put my mind at ease? For the past 3 days I've had a stabbing pain, feels like its in my cervix. I had been taking it very easy as I'd been feeling so rotten, felt great at the weekend and perhaps over did it a little. No bleeding, happens around 10 times per day, worse when my bladder is full. I'm trying to tell myself it's normal but a bit worried at the same time. I'm 14+1

GirlWithTheYellowHat · 13/03/2013 11:48

I've not had any pain like that flip, only on my right side which is where my placenta is.

Well my second scan didn't go any better! Baby was more stretched but now measuring too long to get the first trimester tests and the head wasn't big enough to do the second trimester tests so I'm going back next Friday! Also got my 20week scan booked in for 25 April, the day before my holiday, so will be a good weekend.

fl0b0t · 13/03/2013 11:57

dietcoke that's sweet 'because I'm on the plumper side of life' My cat is really fat and someone on the internet (a stranger) called him a "tubby wallop" which I think is the best name ever. Though probably not for a person. And I doubt you're as plump as my cat! :)

flipflump I've started having funny pains the last couple of days. Worst is when I go from sitting to standing (I've been printing things all morning at work so I've had a lot of pain today!), and it's a real stretch (like someone said before in a "smile" line under my belly. Having seen the active little bugger on the scan yesterday, it's probably practicing karate or something in there!

Lessons learnt yesterday include: MIL things talking about what's in the fridge more important than asking how the scan went. And also MIL needs to learn that even if she's interrogated the information out of my SIL already, she needs to a)try to look interested/surprised and b)not tell me my own news! Hmm

Readytosettle · 13/03/2013 12:56

I didn't know u had a troublesome MIL too fl0....I guess they all are :-)

frogchops · 13/03/2013 13:21

Flip I've had this.... Mine was a real stretch, when going from sitting to standing. Quite painful. Lasts about half an hour at at time. I empathise with vile mils, mine knows more about my pregnancy than me and any other midwife. She's recently told me when to expect to hear a heartbeat, contradicting any mw advice. At the mo DP doesn't understand why I'm keeping things from her I.e my pram purchase!.... It's purely because I want this to be MY pregnancy for as long as possible. I can't deal with interference at the best of times. Am I being harsh?

GirlWithTheYellowHat · 13/03/2013 13:23

I sometimes feel like the only person on MN that has a great MIL!

frogchops · 13/03/2013 13:34

By the sounds of it, u might well be!!

BinarySolo · 13/03/2013 13:40

No, Girlwiththeyellowhat, my mil is pretty good too! Pil have timeshare and mil has searched every day to find a holiday for dh, ds and me. We're off to Wales for ds's 2nd birthday. Pil are coming with us but in a separate cottage, so they can spend some quality time with ds but we all get our own space as well.

OP posts:
BinarySolo · 13/03/2013 13:42

And they booked our holiday for us, then asked our permission to book themselves in the same week! They live about 3 hours away so they don't get to see their grandson as much as they'd like.

badguider · 13/03/2013 13:45

My MIL is lovely, though she and SIL did say to my DH that they thought 'we liked our life too much to have children'??? err.... I think we'll still have a life with a child!
I have a new stock answer which is that if DH and i do do half as much interesting stuff with the baby as we did before, it'll still be twice as much as most people do Smile

EmmaDee · 13/03/2013 14:11

Unfortunately my MIL passed away 2 years ago, but I'm sure she would have been perfect! Im stuck with DH's fathers partner who told me I should start smoking again as she'd never seen anyone look so awful! To be honest I thought I looked well that day, I'd made an effort and I havent really been craving ciggies!!!

And my perfect SIL who since she found out has been sending me emails in relation to natural birth and general hippy stuff! I dont mind the hippy stuff but its my choice and Im not gonna be made to feel like a second class citizen because I have some drugs when I give birth! You wouldnt get your appendix out without pain killers so why push a melon (or larger Shock) without!!!

Rant over!

andadietcoke · 13/03/2013 14:14

GirlWith I'm sorry you've been having scan dramas but I'm a little relieved it's not just me

BigTwin was stretched out and LittleTwin was cuddled up and as a result I've got wildly different measurements. I wish they'd just given up because I've been worrying so much about LittleTwin. I'm back in just under two weeks for 2nd trimester tests too sorry again, but a bit yay too

fl0b0t · 13/03/2013 14:25

Readytosettle more in common than we thought?
badguider- I had similar comments from MIL when we were (secretly) ttc- We were apparently "too busy" and "would never have children". Erm....?

MIL is bareable (she lives in uk but oversea) but has been the only person to show pretty much no excitement at pg news. We've been told it "makes sense" because SIL had a baby last year and she got married a similar ish time to us and we bought houses a year or so apart, so it "makes sense" that we're having a baby. (growl) Yesterday was "So your next scan is two days before XXX(SIL's husband)'s birthhday". I just went "Is it?" Because clearly I measure the most important thing in my life by the date of my husbands, sisters, husbands birthday, right?Hmm

I won't go on here because you literally haven't the time. Suffice to say I'm glad that a)she has a grandchild already and b)she lives far away. We talked about FIL visiting to help us with some DIY, and MIL said that if he brought some of SIL's old baby clothes over, there would be a point to the visit. Which entirely sums it up really. We've lived together for 7 years and the only time they've ever visited for the sole purpose of seeing us.... was our wedding. We have dutifully done the visit the other way around (and trust me, there's nothing else to do where they live and no-one else to see) once or twice a year for the past almost-nine years. Angry /me goes to eat another dougnut.
