Welcome swaye (and babybel!- we had a friend whose sur-name was Bell, so they could call their baby "baby bell" Smile)

I am thankfully sleeping well on the whole as I'm knackered but wake up every morning at 4am without fail. No idea why!

Creamtea1 · 13/03/2013 14:43

I think I can beat all the IL stories! I haven't seen or spoke to my mil, fil, sil or bil for 8 years in October - ds1 was 4 months old when they decided they didn't want to know us. Note they disowned their own son/brother - I quote 'have a nice life, you won't hear from us ever again'. And we haven't!
It was all about them having a row with DH saying he was stuck up, and a whole host of other moans I won't go into as it's petty and boring - certainly not anything major or controversial or a normal parent would have a strop for more than 7 days about let alone 7 years!

Anyway it suits us fine now :)

swaye · 13/03/2013 14:45

Lol and Thank u flobot.

im right with you at 4am!! But it can be 2 or 3 and once the wonderful 5am!! Can u get back to sleep? I need the loo and then cant get back to sleep coz im so thirsty and wide awake.
Im thirsty all the time and cant drink enough, needless to say, that im having a diabetes test tomorrow as well.. Hope its all okay x

badguider · 13/03/2013 14:59

I have had a 4am pee every night for weeks now. Always within 10mins of 4am no matter when i go to sleep Smile
Still, at least i have no problems going back to sleep after (no problems sleeping at any time at the moment, could sleep 24hrs a day)

fl0b0t · 13/03/2013 15:03

Haha. No peeing (I think i'm just getting to the "ooh a little extra pressure on my bladder" point), but bolt awake about 4am. I tend to get back to sleep pretty quick once I've had a schlurp of water!

JammyTummy · 13/03/2013 16:34

My MIL is really really lovely. Definitely hit the jackpot with that one cause she might actually be the nicest person I know!

Re cramps- I still have mine but they aren't as bad as they were to start with. At one point a week and a bit ago I was starting to get seriously freaked out cause they were sudden stabbing and v v sore pains. But I think it's settling down now. But on the up side, I now started getting back pains! Anybody else? I really thought it was too early for that!

DH and I are away for a few days tomorrow, going to visit family and mum's grave, as haven't been able to go since she passed. It's going to be one tough long weekend and I'm already truly looking forward to getting back home next week!

flipflump · 13/03/2013 18:02

Thanks everyone, I'll try to relax, it hasn't been as bad today. My scan was 2 weeks ago and everything was perfect but 20 week scan feels like a life time away, another 6 weeks of worrying. If it gets worse I'll give my midwife a call. It feels like I've sat on a red hot poker Shock

I'm so lucky to have a lovely MIL, she needs a medal for putting up with FIL though. He's nice but a bit intense!

kimjayne · 13/03/2013 18:44

Must admit I was a bit naffed off with my mil when she decided to tell me the boys name I liked "wasn't what she would pick" and she also criticised my plans for the baby room!.. it's funny how people think it's fine to question your choices when it comes to pregnancy isn't it! My boss said I was probably eating more than I should today! Sad can't be too annoyed as he's probably right ... But still! #harsh Smile

BinarySolo · 13/03/2013 19:17

Kim, this is why you keep name choices secret. Or tell everyone you've chosen to call he baby Knacker

GirlWithTheYellowHat · 13/03/2013 19:35

Dietcoke, I'm surprised they took the measurement if wee twin was curled up. But don't overly stress about it as that won't help the babies. I'm trying to keep relaxed as much as possible. I suppose its not a real hardship lying on my back for a while watching my baby swim about, there's worse things to be doing!

Wonder how I'd cope with a mental MIL!

Kittenkatzen · 13/03/2013 20:02

kim my best friend laughed out loud at both the boy and girl name I said we liked. And when I mentioned them to my parents I got Hmm faces from everyone. They're really perfectly normal names! Don't think I'll bother mentioning any more Sad

Dorita75 · 13/03/2013 20:11

I have a lovely MIL too! She's got 3 daughters older than DP and 6 grandchildren already so is happy but not interfering at all, and always asks how I'm doing, telling me stories of her morning sickness when the only thing she couldn't drink was beer! (it was the 70s/80s!!)

We're supposed to be going to a wedding evening do on Friday, it's far enough away to be an expensive taxi ride home so am trying to weigh up if it's worth going. We're not that close to the couple but I still feel guilty. I'm still getting sickness from about 4pm onwards all evening, could put up with tiredness, I just HATE feeling sick for hours and hours on end Sad You know how it is.....

jennimoo · 13/03/2013 20:13

With DD we refused to share the name we planned to use, but people would just reply saying "so and so called their child X and that's a rubbish name" all the time, especially family! So insensitive IMHO, unless asked for an opinion people should keep their traps shut!

jennimoo · 13/03/2013 20:14

And I've had a craving for kitkat chunky, which was yum and led to the biggest kicks I've had so far!

Readytosettle · 13/03/2013 20:14

Anyone else trying to work out the sex from their 12 week scan pic? I wasn't until my mother suggested that she has a fairly good idea having studied our pic.....am now frantically googling to try and work it out (can't stand the thought of her knowing before me!). Anyway, it's quite a fun game if you want to play:

www.babycentre.co.uk/x2200/will-a-dating-scan-show-the-sex-of-my-baby

At the moment I'm thinking mine's a girl because the nub is lying parallel to the spine....but then the shape is quite penis like (similar to example 3)....could waste many hours on this!!

SGJ · 13/03/2013 20:34

We don't want to know the sex but asked the sonographer if it was possible to tell at 12 weeks - she said no, then said, "well, there are ways but it's not always accurate and it takes ages". Everything I've read says you can't tell on a scan until 17 weeks at the earliest, and a girl's bits look like a burger (3 lines) whilst a boy's looks like a snail!!

Having said that... I think we should all examine our scans, make a private note and then compare at 20 weeks or in September when we know for sure!!

andadietcoke · 13/03/2013 20:34

GirlWith I know - the consultant on Friday have up when LittleTwin was in the same position. They weren't 'as' curled up on Tuesday, and on their back, as opposed to on their tummy, and maybe she felt under pressure to do a measurement as she'd done BigTwin's CRL and NT and LittleTwin's NT. Had stretching pains today so hoping it's LittleTwin's growth spurt (if they need one!).

You're right about not stressing - we should be delighted about extra scans!!

CharlW1 · 13/03/2013 20:50

Kim I find it unbelievable what people come out with - I have a quite big bump for how far gone I am (14+5) and people keep commenting on what I am eating - even though I am eating normally in front of people I even had someone say at work 'don't go eating for two now' when I was having a piece of toast for breakfast!

CharlW1 · 13/03/2013 20:50

I have just devoured a cream egg though

Readytosettle · 13/03/2013 21:45

SGJ was just looking at it with DH & he pointed out that accuracy at 12weeks was 46%...less than if you'd just said 'boy' at every scan. LOL!

Creamtea1 · 13/03/2013 21:47

Omg ready can't believe you've just brought this to my attention! My scan photo is exactly like pic 3 aswell - horizontal to body but a bit thicker at the end! Google obsession happening right now for further research!

andadietcoke · 13/03/2013 21:56

Ha. I got mine out for a look. DH just rolled his eyes and asked what I was googling now!! Can't see anything on either, although that's not surprising, the contrary little things!

BinarySolo · 13/03/2013 22:02

Dh and I both came out of the scan appointment and said that we thought we'd seen a willy! It was probably the umbilical cord otherwise for it to be so clear so early he'd be scarily well endowed.

MrsMc82 · 13/03/2013 22:34

Aw glad im not the only itchy one!!!!

Got another question. ...has anyone else felt a bit of wriggling yet? I'm only 12 weeks but its my second dc and im really sure that I've felt a little bit of fluttering..... I know its ridiculously early but after googling a little bit I don't think it's entirely unheard of...... and I felt ds at 14 weeks I think. ..... any other second or third (or more) time mums on the thread felt any movement. .... or is it just my chinese food digesting! ???

frogchops · 13/03/2013 23:05

Ok so I've had 2 people say they're shocked I'm not going for my 20 week scan by looking at me. Someone else pleeease say you've had the same? It's not eating because it is very obviously a pregnant belly and I've only put on around 3lb. But it's actually big enough to rest my hand on. It's lovely but I'm only 12+ 4 :-/.
