Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

They do the test really differently here. I have to be at the hospital for 8am with a load of other pregnant women and wait for the drink then after the drink sit still for 3 hours, only going to loo if really have to. Then they take blood from ear! It's nice that they give us the results there and then though. It's not until around 18ish weeks and then again closer to end, can't remember exactaly.

Fingers crossed for thur/fri, roofio.

That's interesting, SS it's pretty strange isn't it :S I'm glad I'm not the only one!

roxvox · 11/03/2013 10:11

Fingers crossed for you today topslou, I hope it all goes well.

Hope everything goes well for those ladies having glucose tests this week too. Can I ask why some people are required to have it? It's not something that has been mentioned to me at all and I hadn't heard of it before reading it on here.

Natalieand · 11/03/2013 10:18

roxvox I have a raised BMI and my booking bloods came back with high blood sugar zxxx

legallyblond · 11/03/2013 10:26

Hey all. Thinking of you Topslou.

Still really struggling with the MS... I can fairly reliably keep lunch down, but nothing else, and not even fluids in the morning or evening. Is anyone else sick this much? It's at least 5 times a day, with retching about 35 times! I have lost over 5lbs!! Last preg I had gained 1/2 a stone by week 11/12! Gah.

cazboldy · 11/03/2013 10:31

that sounds rough legally - hope it eases soon x

I had my GTT as I have PCOS, and it increases your risk of developing diabetes, though it must be a new(ish) thing, as haven't had to have one before.

I was also told that I was to have it asap, (and then again in later pg) as the sooner they discover a problem the easier it is to correct - maybe with diet, instead of with medication.

Anyway - luckily I have the all clear for now - fingers crossed for all you other ladies xx

Rockchick1984 · 11/03/2013 10:38

Finally got the date for my scan - Mon 8th April, I'll be 12+3. So excited about it!! My hospital has changed the policy from last time so DS can come in and see the scan - think my dad is going to bring him in once they have checked everything is ok though rather than letting him stay in the whole time. Can't wait!!

Good luck Topslou

cherrycherry41 · 11/03/2013 10:47

I have to have the GTT between 22-26 weeks as i had a HUGE baby last time even though im a size 8/10. Raised a few eyebrows! Had a GTT last time and results were normal so annoyed ive gotta do it again! Sad

roxvox · 11/03/2013 10:50

Thanks for explaining everyone! Sounds as though there are various reasons to do such a test. Good that they're getting on top of these things early though Smile

Hope you're feeling better soon legallyblond, sounds horrid.

roofio87 · 11/03/2013 11:43

My boss wants to send me on a a few days away with some of the young people at work over the Easter holidays, but those 2 weeks I'll be 12 and 13 weeks so really need to know my scan date!! I've been trying the appointment department at the hospital for the last hour and they're always busy!! very annoying!!

roofio87 · 11/03/2013 11:51

finally got through and she said the appointment hasn't been made yet, my referral is with the midwives so to ring back at the end of the week. its just a bit annoying that it'll be so close to the time when I find out!! oh well, there's worse things that can happen!!

BirdsDoIt · 11/03/2013 12:26

Hello all, sadly I think I'll be leaving the October bus - went to epu this morning because I'd had light bleeding all weekend (some red, some brown. They did an internal scan and couldn't see a heartbeat. The foetus is measuring 4-5 weeks - and I got a positive pregnancy test more than 7 weeks ago - so it looks like it stopped growing some time ago. They're getting me back for another scan next Tuesday to doublecheck for the heartbeat, because i've got irregular cycles, but the bleeding's continuing and we're not holding out much hope. Really rubbish news and we're really sad about it, but on the other hand it's good to know finally what's going on (those three days of bleeding and uncertainty were hellish) and we can embark on ttc again soon. I'm holding on to chickpea's positivity in between being a blubbering wreck. Anyway good luck all you ladies and take care! Hopefully I'll be back on another bus soon. Lots of love xxx

roxvox · 11/03/2013 12:37

cazboldy · 11/03/2013 14:35

PseudoBadger · 11/03/2013 14:40

I'm very sorry Birds :(

HotSoupDumpling · 11/03/2013 14:48

Sorry birds and really really good luck for the next one.

DH and I have given in and booked an early scan (it's getting increasingly difficult to hide my rotund belly from family members, and we want a bit more comfort before we tell them).

Topslou · 11/03/2013 15:06

Thanks for all the positive thoughts & kind words ladies but sadly it was to no avail and my scan confirmed that I've miscarried. It absolutely sucks but at least I know I can get pregnant and hopefully I'll be back on another bus soon. Good luck for the next 30 odd weeks that you have left til you get to hold your beautiful bundles of joy.

PseudoBadger · 11/03/2013 15:10

Oh what a sad day. I'm so sorry Topslou :(

legallyblond · 11/03/2013 15:11

Smitten1981 · 11/03/2013 15:19

awww no I was wondering how you were getting on topslou, sorry to birds too. Please come back and keep us updated when you start trying again. Fingers crossed for next time.

Smitten1981 · 11/03/2013 15:30

While I'm here, has anyone else started having crazy dreams? In last night's one I fell out with my sister and went home to find a note from my husband saying that he's moved out into a flat and was busy, so don't go round. Of course I went round and he was having a huge party with all our friends and I hadn't been told about it by any of them.

Obviously I woke up in a bad mood and told the husband that he was in my bad books today for being mean to me in my dream - ha ha.

I wouldn't mind so much but I can't get comfy at all at night and my random dreams are made worse by waking up every five minutes to turn on my side/back/front - argh!

Flyer747 · 11/03/2013 15:34

So sorry to hear your news topslou and birds. I hope you both catch the next bus and wish you all the best for the future. Xxx
