Last one nearly full so thought I would start a new one - new thread, new trimester!

I've had 2 midwife appointments so far plus scan but only been weighed once (on the first visit). They did say after "we will take you off to be weighed in a moment" during my last appointment ... They bit distracted by jabbing both my arms in a lame attempt to gather blood. So who knows what my bmi is! ....

slowblonde · 04/03/2013 22:53

Sorry to hear your news Hackney. Esp tough when it's that further bit on

Congrats to all those who had scans today. So special to see the bubs.

In bed for past 90 mins. Exhausted but can't sleep. Same in the middle of the night last night. Soo frustrating as have very busy week at work ahead.

SGJ · 04/03/2013 23:54

Sorry about your sad news Hackney. Hope your family are being truly lovely x
Have been absent for a few days as have been living through my sister's labour and delivery - a very tiny but beautiful baby girl called Olive was born very early on Sunday morning and the entire family's been on cloud 9 since. Thank God I'm already pregnant though, or I'd have jumped DH the second we left the hospital!
Re BMI, only been weighed once after the 12 week scan, I was 25.5, which is not too bad.

Dorita75 · 05/03/2013 07:00

hackney I'm so sorry. This happened to me last Feb and I found the mc thread really supportive, helped get through the sadness. I'm glad you have your little one to help keep you smiling. Take care x

mynameisnotmichaelcaine · 05/03/2013 07:25

Creamtea, I'm not sure we could be any more similar! Similar age, baby number 3, and our pre pg bmi is identical! I put on lots of weight quickly, but have lost a few lbs this week as I've been really sick. Not actually been sick in this pg before and I'm 14 weeks! What's all that about!

Hackney, so sorry for your loss.

BinarySolo · 05/03/2013 07:39

Really sorry to hear your news, Hackney. Best wishes to you and your family.

CharlW1 · 05/03/2013 08:01

yes amiready I have been getting lots of dull hip pain which is stretching. My sisters both said they had it too in their pregnancies x

Whyriskit · 05/03/2013 08:26

Well, put on a dress for work this morning and DH immediately told me that if my colleagues weren't suspicious already, they would be convinced!
So I'm wearing one of my new maternity dresses with a scarf and to quote DH "yup, you still look pregnant, just with a scarf".
Would really like my NT test results back so I can tell people!

MeanMrsMustard · 05/03/2013 08:34

Really sorry Hackney. Wishing you all the best in the future.

Eeeknumber - (or anyone else for that matter) - do they send you to a consultant if your is over 25?
I have put on 5lb by my calculations (prob more 'officially' as my starting weight is the one I gave the midwife myself (taken first thing that morning, naked and not having eaten) and the second as before the 12 week scan, full of water/food, fully dressed and in heavy boots.) I think that's about right for 15 weeks.
Does anyone know how to work out reasonable weight gain by week? Non of my friends who have recently given birth have put on any weight. Well, if you asked them they'd probably say theyre flabbier in places, but to the non expert eye they look the same. My weight yo-Yos and I'm quite conscious of the need to keep it in check at the moment.

frogchops · 05/03/2013 08:47

I think its if its over 30 meanmrs....

BinarySolo · 05/03/2013 09:11

I think bmi treatment depends on the area you're in. My bmi is high but I didn't new to see a consultant as it's my second pregnancy and I didn't have gestational diabetes first time round. I'm seeing a consultant as ds was 3 and a half weeks early.

kimjayne · 05/03/2013 09:21

can I just ask whether we all receive our blood results from the NT tests in the post? Or will I need to call for these? My DH seems to think we will only get these when we arrive for our next MW appointment but that's not for another 3 weeks ..... I live in Manchester (if this makes any difference).

BinarySolo · 05/03/2013 09:24

Mine came in the post. I think they ring if there's a problem. How long's it been Kim? I think they'd be quicker if there was a problem.

badguider · 05/03/2013 09:25

My BMI was 27.9 before pregnancy but already around 30 by the time of booking in.
I put on 6kg in the first eight weeks - I swear my boobs are about a kg heavier each, the first couple of weeks I was pregnant coincided with christmas and then I was too ill to do my usual exercise, or in fact any exercise until about 9.5 weeks.

So far nobody has said anything to me about it. I have low blood pressure and a low resting heart rate and am classed as 'very fit' - ran regular half marathons and would often mountain bike for 6-7hrs a day at the weekend - I cycle everywhere and will do till I have a bump that gets in the way, and I'm getting back into gentle jog/walks since last week's skiing.

I REALLY hope that my weight will not limit my choices in pregnancy so long as all other indicators stay healthy (sugar levels, heart rate, bp etc)... does anybody have any experience of being a bit heavy but very fit and active in a previous pregnancy?

badguider · 05/03/2013 09:28

Kim - I'm in Scotland and we get a phonecall if high risk and if not then the letter goes to the community mw who can either post it out or keep it till your next appt depending on when that is. Either way, if no phonecall then all is well.

Also, I just realised my stats above make me sound like a beachball! I was before pregnancy a standard size 12 but I am short - only 5'1" - with a 'stocky' build like a hockey player. Not model-like, but not as lardy as a bMI of 27 sounds!!

JammyTummy · 05/03/2013 09:36

amiready- just out of interest how far along are you? I started getting cramps a couple of days ago too. It pops up in various locations at various times but its always a long a sort of 'smile line' under my belly button and from about right to left ovary (does this even make sense?!?).
I assume its round ligament pain starting?

Wincher · 05/03/2013 09:46

My BMI was 27 or so at booking in- a bit depressing really since it was down to about 22 six months after having DS. Next time round I must really not let the weight creep back on when the baby starts weaning... I think it's only over 30 that you have any extra care, and I think it's over 35 for consultant-led care round here.

I've not had my nuchal scan results yet - they said it would take two weeks and it's only been one. I'm kind of assuming if it was bad you would hear sooner.

Whyriskit · 05/03/2013 09:46

Round here (Edinburgh) I was told that I would get results in the post within 2 weeks if not high risk and otherwise would get a phone call in 3/4 working days.
Re BMI, mine is 31 Blush, and hasn't been mentioned to me but I'm under consultant care because of my previous CSs.

jennimoo · 05/03/2013 09:55

I'm 15+1 and just been sick! Apart from the sick bug this is the first time. I think the snotty cold / cough DD and I have was to blame, but was the thought of brushing my teeth that set it off.

jemimahpuddleduck · 05/03/2013 09:58

hackney I'm so sorry for your loss.

creamtea and mynameis we all have the same BMI was 20 before Xmas 21 at booking and 22 at scan yesterday. Have put on 10 pounds so far but 5 of that was Xmas indulgence and the other 5 eating crap to help MS.

Scan went well yesterday healthy baby due on 11 September insted of the 15th by LMP. Am pretty sure the scan is correct as thought I ovulated early. So 12+6 today Smile

Readytosettle · 05/03/2013 10:03

Good description jammy. I'm getting achey pains along a 'smile line' too. 11 weeks today.

My stomach has always been a little rounded but it's definitely started to harden this week, especially just below my belly. DH had a feel last night & agrees that I'm not imagining things. He came up behind me this morning & gave me a hug & his hands went to my tummy for a little pat which was really nice. Def starting to feel like this is for real now!

JammyTummy · 05/03/2013 10:07

I've got this new thing going on where brushing my teeth is making me vom... A new and unpleasant development considering I've only been sick once all first trimester!

LexyMa · 05/03/2013 10:22

Got my NT results in the post nearly two weeks after the scan, and phoned the GP recep for my booking bloods, so I think they will have just gone direct to the MWs and be stapled into my notes. I haven't yet got my notes back - which is different from last time when I carried them around from the start - but I think I get them when I go for the 16 week appointment which is Mon 18th. That's the day after getting back from skiing so as long as I hear a heartbeat at that appointment (and I will insist on her getting the doppler out!!) I will tell people much more widely then.

I don't know my BMI but I do know I weigh 65kg and am 5ft 4in if I don't slouch. Before my first pregnancy I was 55kg and occasionally fitted a size 8, more like 75kg at the end (4.2kg baby). I did drop a lot of weight straight afterwards by breastfeeding but I never went back below 60kg - boobs, ribcage, bum all stayed bigger even when I did a load of exercise (did a half marathon last Sept). I am also now wearing slightly empire line dresses to work but it is one of my standard 'uniforms' anyway so most people won't think anything of it. I am not able to pull my tummy in any more but the fat bit seems to be quite high so I am still getting in to my normal trousers and other things with waistbands for the moment. Just very glad not to have to find a bigger size of ski pants at the last minute.

I am now constantly thinking I've felt something in there, but then must be imagining it. 15 weeks would be not too early for the second time, as I felt first flutters at 16w first time. DH felt kicks from the outside at 20w. Looking forward to that!!

Creamtea1 · 05/03/2013 10:31

mynameis how old are your dc's? Mine are 5 and 7 (boys). I'm also 14 weeks on thurs! Spooky! :)
Still waiting for my nuchal results, was told they would come in the post.
Got to collect the bargain mat jeans from next later so will report back on those.

hackneybird so sorry to hear your news, fingers crossed that everything works out for you xx

Other things:
BMI- I was about 22.5 previous to pregnancy, but lost weight with sickness so now about 21.5. Still not pout any weight on. At my booking in appt I was asked my height and weight (not measured) but I'm weighing myself very frequently to hope I put some weight on soon!
