Welcome purple :-)
I've found it hard to keep up with this thread the last few days, so glad to hear scans going well. If there's no scan date letter on my mat when I get home, I'm going to call (do I call the hosp or the midwife??) to find out where it is! I'll be 11wks at the weekend, so want my scan date! (Actually it's more about work, I don't want to book loads of things in and then have to cancel!)

Otherwise things ticking along ok. Still ridiculously nauseous, and stressed about getting my repeat prescription. I'm the kind of numpty who lost that bit of the prescription, so can't fill in and post to dr surgery. I work in another town (leave home 7am, get home 7pm kind of thing) so unable to fill in repeat prescription form. My drs said on their website that I could do it by email, which I have attempted to do, but there's no reply from them to confirm that they've received and/or processed it. I'm just hoping I'm back from work in time to pick it up tonight if it has been processed. I only have two pills left in my pack and I don't think I can get my medication over the counter (though I plan to try if the rep prescription email falls through). The one day I didn't take one I ended up really sick the next day, so I'm hoping that I don't have a gap in my medication.

Still not really put any weight which is.... good and bad! It's nice being under 70kg but for the babies sake I'd like to see myself putting on a little!

RunningBear78 · 01/03/2013 10:49

Thanks creamtea just got myself the bargain grey chinos! ... are dark blue skinnies the uniform for this group? I do already have some :)

On the subject of shopping ... have you got any suggestions for sourcing decent bra's? I bought a lovely new one about 5 weeks ago from the local undies shop, but I'm about to burst out the top of it and their range is rather limited. I gather we're supposed to be in non-wired bras, which I'm not looking forward to as my boobs feel like they weight a ton and could do with some serious scaffolding. Suggestions welcome!

jennimoo · 01/03/2013 11:24

Bra-wise I'm still in my nursing bras, which are hot milk and fab, but not sure I'd spend that much on maternity ones as you're bound to 'have a growth spurt' as soon as you do.

Good luck for scans today :)

JammyTummy · 01/03/2013 11:26

We ordered our nursery furniture yesterday! Sooo exciting! I was really keen to own a dresser before I bought anything else cause if I did see any cute tiny things in the shop I wanted somewhere proper to put them. Went to mothercare and they have 20% off furniture until the 6th of march! Such great timing.

I've got two preggy apps- one free and one I paid for. The free one is the What to Expect one, and it's really good with lots of written info, very educational. Then I also have the Health & Parenting Pregnancy app. I originally downloaded the free one but it was so good I upgraded to the full version!

Off to look for that stats thread now!

Dorita75 · 01/03/2013 12:03

Can't quite believe it but everything is fine, more than fine! Was so nervous before the scan, but all is good. Am 12wks today and it's measuring 11+6 CRL 5.3cm and nf 1.2

Baby (I can call it that now!) was moving lots and of got a really good pic (£3 each at Liverpool womens) We're off to Glasgow now to see sigur ros and even tho I'm still getting tired and sick in the evenings, nothing can spoil my mood now!

I'll add myself to stats list now.

Good luck everyone else xx

amiready · 01/03/2013 12:08

There is a BABY!!!! And it's ALIVE!!!!! And there's a HEARTBEAT and EVERYTHING!!!!

Amazing. After 12 weeks of very odd / non existent / unusual symptoms, there really is something there! And it was wriggling around and sucking it's thumb!! So SWEET!!! For ages the sonographer didn't say anything and I thought, 'oh no, he can't find anything' and was just staring at the ceiling and wouldn't look at DH's face (and he had full view of screen whereas I didn't) and then the sonographer said 'sorry, I'm being a bit mean, everything is fine, I'm just doing all the measurements as he's in a really great position' and I was like - What?!! There really is something THERE????

Un.bel.ieveable.

At last can tell the world. So relieved.

Poonli · 01/03/2013 12:28

Hi Ladies

I had my 12 week NHS scan yesterday morning where the scan showed baby jumping around normally and where they also took blood. As I have to wait 2 weeks for those results to come back I decided to book a private scan also where you get the results straight away for peace of mind.

The scan they did also came back fine. Low levels of fluid at the back of the next etc..and they took bloods too. This morning I got a phone call from the private clinic saying my blood results came back as 1:45 for Downs, which was very high and surprising as the scan was so normal.

They recommended a Harmony test which is just a more detailed accurate blood test which they send off to the US and takes 2 weeks to come back but is 99% accurate. The results for this are either very low or very high. If low then all fine and continue as normal to 20 week scan. If high then need to have a CVS test which tests a bit of the placenta but carries a 1% chance of miscarriage.

Private saw us straight away and just left the clinic after giving blood (cost £600 but worth it) and just have to wait 2 weeks for results now. Soooo glad I went private as if not, I'd still be in the dark with the rubbish NHS.

Worst thing is - we told everyone yesterday so had to explain why I was leaving work early today through floods of tears.

Can't stop crying but have no idea what I think or what to do. No point making any decision until results come back I guess..............

YouKnowNothingOfTheCrunch · 01/03/2013 12:49

Hello!

Am i too late to join? Think I'm about 11 weeks, got a scan on Tuesday for dating.

I'm joining late since early on had lots of spotting so after several scans in the EPU (and previous mc many years ago), I've been holding off letting myself get excited. I still won't be sure until next week (it was a missed mc, only found out at 14 weeks)

Anyway. This will be dc number 4 for me, but 1st for lovely DF. We're planning on getting married in June/July.

Creamtea1 · 01/03/2013 12:50

poonli sorry to hear your worries and what you've been through the last couple days. I wondered if it would be worth calling your NHS hospital as a few of the ladies have been told that nhs standard wait time 2 weeks for results, but if the results flag as high risk then they've said it is 3-5 days. So it may be you can get their results in before the harmony results.

Poonli · 01/03/2013 12:59

Hi cream tea - yes I planned on calling mid next week as scan was only yesterday morning I figured it was too early to call. Not sure what to think if their results come back very different from the privates but I really want to know now!!!

frogchops · 01/03/2013 13:13

Morning. Hello to all new lurkers too. Lovely scan news everyone, I'm so envious. Two weeks today for me, and I'm beyond worried. I'm paranoid to hell about discovering a mmc that I obviously didnt know about and I have no idea how I'd cope finding out tht baby didn't make it passed X weeks. Maybe I just need a kick to pull myself together. Sad

YouKnowNothingOfTheCrunch · 01/03/2013 13:17

Hello frog, it's a horrible fear isn't it? Had a scan at 5 and a half weeks and 7 and a half. Both times I was expecting the "I'm sorry" talk. Took at least 24 hours each time to have it sink in that I am still pregnant.

But even a couple of days after the doubt was already sinking in again. It's not easy.

LexyMa · 01/03/2013 13:40

Poonli, fx for you. Hope that your worries are unfounded, and that you get reassuring results back from everywhere.

I am in the 4ww between scan and 16w MW appt where hopefully I will get to hear hb on Doppler. It was 16w when I felt flutterings first time round so I am hoping for that soon too. Different kind of waiting, because of the 1% mc stat for after 12 weeks, but still waiting.

My mum has sent me a book called 'Bumpology' as a gift off Amazon. Seems quite fun from my first flick through, lots of science and stats in a very readable form.

Well after my promotion news yesterday we are down to earth straight away. DH's company is being taken over, and as a back office function he is likely to be made redundant in a couple of months. Oddly a similar thing happened when I was expecting DS, and while it was not exactly the plan, he did enjoy lots of baby time in the first year that so many dads miss out on.

fl0b0t · 01/03/2013 13:44

poonli sorry to hear of your stresses- You need a cuppa and a biscuit and a massage from the OH- lots of positive thoughts (which you will send to your lovely baby through the cord).

Welcome youknownothing- fingers firmly crossed for baby to stay put :)

I am always wondering how people's user names come about- anyone want to tell all? Mine's quite boring really- I wanted to stay super-anonymous on here as we were secretly ttc for ages, so I chose a band who wrote a song I rather like! ( www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/flobots/handlebars.html ) It just makes me feel really happy!

Today is DRAGGING.

Eeeknumber3 · 01/03/2013 13:45

I'm with you frog it's really rubbish waiting, my scan isn't til a week on Monday, hate the waiting and am feeling less pregnant - although not too sure how much of this is psychological! I have my nhs scan and nuchal a week on Tuesday and for the 'belts and braces' approach have my private nuchal the day before, they'll be able to tell me the results for that there and then, as they are taking the bloods a week before, such a great idea! I'll be interested to see if the results are the same.
poonli so sorry, what an awful wait now for you, I have read great things about harmony testing...hugs to you

YouKnowNothingOfTheCrunch · 01/03/2013 14:03

Fl0b0t, thank you!

I'm thinking of maybe going down the harmony test route. But wanted to wait for 12 week scan first. They don't do anything but the blood test for ds around here, so I'd have to pay for additional testing anyway. It does sound like an amazing test.

As to the feeling less pregnant, it's a nightmare. I'll have hideous all day sickness for a couple of weeks then a week of nothing, and then it comes back again. As for the chestage, I've inflated two cup sizes, then deflated again, and now somewhere in between. Wish my body would make it's mind up. Oh and stomach is already at about 20 weeks size. Which is very difficult to hide at work since I'm a size 10 (or was!).

frogchops · 01/03/2013 14:38

Fl0b0t I wondered the same about usernames.... Mine is boring too, when we first ttc I didn't want DP to know I was conversing with virtual people about it and discussing my plans to seduce him each weekend, lol. So I though, as we share the iPad I should pick a name that he wouldn't suspect as me if I ever left a thread open on there. I have names that I use on other stuff that he would guess, but I don't think he'dve guessed Frogchops, he hates frogs!! I tried to be just 'frog' but it was taken. I quite like it now and all the other derivatives i get called!

SGJ · 01/03/2013 15:02

My username is super original.. my initials! ION, my sister is being induced tomorrow as her baby isn't moving much. So excited!

LexyMa · 01/03/2013 15:20

Mine's my name, sort of. And being a 'ma' is forefront of my mind. Mostly get called Lexy on here and in RL. Although someone did recently address me as Lexie Mae on a thread, which is so not me. Must have been an autocorrect ;)

Kilkers · 01/03/2013 15:33

My username is to do with my surname, I get called it by loads of people at work.

Nice to hear about the lovely scan news today and hugs to those having a hard time of it Thanks

Watch this 'ere if you have a couple of minutes especially if you are cat people. It's had me cracking up for the last few days -
