Last one nearly full so thought I would start a new one - new thread, new trimester!

Aghhhhh, bloody hospital rang, have to go back on Thursday for 'urgent' appointment with consultant. I know they are right to do so, but insenses me every time! Had a pulmonary embolism when I was 23, now 36, due to bad chest injury (will tell you all some other time, but a nutter/stalker broke into my ome and attacked me with a knife, feels like lifetime ago)not spontaneous or relating to health. They want to see me and talk about blood thinning jabs throughout pg, not had them either of last two pregs...but had this saga both times...aggggghhhhhhh

Kilkers · 26/02/2013 12:18

Thanks frogchops, I wasn't really worried until I had the pain yesterday when I finished work. It will be my first baby so I can imagine my (nonexistent!) tummy muscles are getting a bit of a workout!

I've had an internal scan before and I don't know if it would complare to an exam, they didn't put the wand in very far at all and it was very gentle. I've never had an internal exam so I'm clueless.

frogchops · 26/02/2013 12:28

You can imagine how panicked I was when the nurse said to me 'as long as you're not getting sharp pains' at my initial 5 week appt. to then get this at about 8/9 weeks. When I rang in a panic, she said she wasn't worried unless it was constant and unbearable. I got it mostly at night every 2/3 mins. I don't stress as much when it happens now, I'm too worried about 12 wk scan in 2 weeks!

chocciemousse · 26/02/2013 12:57

Kilkers, I had an internal exam when I was about 6/7 weeks because of sharp pains. It didn't hurt or even feel like they went in very far so don't be alarmed. I too was worried about an internal exam but it was all fine Smile

Rosie your comment about putting the ice cream container in the washing machine made me laugh a lot! It is good to know I am not the only person doing weird things like that. I am also become extremely clumsy and cannot pour a drink without spilling it for the life of me.

Does anyone know if you are allowed to take anything for a sinus infection which seems to be moving down onto my chest? This was courtesy of my DH.

BinarySolo · 26/02/2013 13:14

Just got my nuchal results. 1 in 490 so classed as low. Phew!

BinarySolo · 26/02/2013 13:15

Just had crumpets with marmite and a babybel. Yummy.

RunningBear78 · 26/02/2013 13:25

Hi there ladies, just found you all. I've got my first scan next tuesday which seems like a lifetime away at the moment, I'll be 12+2 by then. Nice to know you are all also spending life split between eating, peeing and sleeping! Looking forwards to getting to know you all xx

fl0b0t · 26/02/2013 13:29

Got really excited about a letter from the NHS yesterday.... it was my maternity prescription charge expemtion letter, not a scan date! D'oh! I 'll call this week if a scan date letter doesn't appear. I kindof need to plan some work stuff, and I don't want to plan and then have to cancel when I get the scan date!

I have been told by FIL "Can I order a boy please" as he already has a granddaughter Hmm. And people asking whether I want a boy or girl (erm- a)I actually genuinely really honestly really don't care and b)if I said girl and it was a boy, I'd look like a bitch that never wanted a boy, so I wouldn't say even if I did have a preference!).

I'm back in the office for the first day since going off sick at the end of Jan (I was "at work" last week but not in the office). The only two people in are the two people that don't know my news.... so my grey face is probably confusing them! Feeling pretty ropey, but haven't yet been sick. I think yesterdays sickness was caused by a "hangover" from a jam-packed weekend and idiotically forgetting to take my anti-sickness drugs on Sunday night when I got in. Amazing what a difference they make!

Kittenkatzen · 26/02/2013 13:43

Afternoon all, dating scan done. Dates spot on at 11+5, one baby all bits present and correct, hand to forehead diva style Grin.

Hope my scan day buddies all having an equally exciting day. Off to catch up with all the news now.

Kittenkatzen · 26/02/2013 14:05

Feeling the pain of everyone having to suffer other people's gender preferences! I've already been told by SIL that I "have" to have a girl, and I "have" to find out what I'm having because otherwise I'll get to the end and won't actually like anything I've bought in neutral colours so actually it will save money to find out.....ConfusedHmm

Creamtea1 · 26/02/2013 14:23

Good news on the nuchal results binary :)
People are asking me outright 'why are you not finding out' and it's driving me mad. I said to one because it's not important, I just want to make sure everything's ok and all she said was 'blimey' Hmm
Anyway, in other news I have managed to lose 0.5 kilo, just because I have managed to be eating a bit less (ie not needing white carbs every hour!) so hoping now can reign the weight gain in a bit.
Also ordered 2 maternity vest tops from h&m and a baggy style jumper.

My bro is über traditional & has a real thing about not finding out the sex of your baby (he has a 6mth old). When I told him I was preggers the 2nd question he asked was 'are u going to find out what your having?' as knew that would wind my mum up too. I took quite a bit of pleasure in saying I will....and then following it quickly with 'but anyone who wants a surprise can just not ask me'. His mouth stayed in the open position for a good 20 seconds & then (wisely) he opted to shut it!

frogchops · 26/02/2013 14:33

I've somehow lost 2lbs....duno how cos looking at me I've put inches on!
Although, some horrible person has just given me the recipe for cheese scones, I didn't ask for it at all, it was forced upon me....welcome back 2lbs!

jennimoo · 26/02/2013 14:42

I'm managing to eat less the last week which is a relief! Can go several hours without eating now which is very handy!

JammyTummy · 26/02/2013 15:35

Got scan all done! Happy little baby in there! When she first put the scanner on my belly bean was found floating upside down looking rather bored then instantly started wriggling around as if he knew what was was required! Nt measured at 1.7mm which I am told is v good, so super relieved, full test results will come in the post in about a week (was surprised by that as seems like most people here got theirs on the day? Did you give a blood sample?)?
I'm supposed to be 12+3 today but she dated me at 13, so looks like I have a right little chubber on my hands!

Going to get into my bed now and maybe have a nap. Today has been officially the worst I felt since bfp! Sorry if post a bit confused in parts as I may possibly be delirious from lack of sleep...

Kittenkatzen · 26/02/2013 15:57

it's for your own good!! Grin

Good news on the scan jammy hope you feel better soon.

frogchops · 26/02/2013 16:53

Mmm my house smells of cheese.

chocciemousse · 26/02/2013 17:25

Does anybody know how reliable/accurate the dating scan is? All of us (that I have seen) have been dated further on than we initially thought we were.

JammyTummy · 26/02/2013 17:30

Choccie they told me that it can be out by 5 days in either direction. Apparently it depends on the position your baby is lying in/ the angle they can measure it at.

Creamtea1 · 26/02/2013 17:56

choccie I think I'm the only one who has been moved back - had my scan yesterday when I thought I was 12+4 and they put me at 12+0. Also have to wait for nuchal results in post.

GirlWithTheYellowHat · 26/02/2013 18:38

Thanks for listening Binary, had a better day today.

Can't wait for my scan now, still 2 weeks to wait!

kimjayne · 26/02/2013 18:41

After enjoying a weekend of minimal sickness (just the usual early morning puke then late evening attacks) I am now suffering again :( I really thought I might be "getting over the worst of it" as I'm past the magic 12 week barrier now.
Glad to hear all the lovely scan news on here though. Ours is Thursday and Im already nervous.
Hope you are all enjoying your yummy cheesey scones. The idea of cheese still makes me wretch a bit but Im sure they taste fit! X Grin

KamikazeeKid · 26/02/2013 18:53

Err the stabbing pains in the fanjo.... Had them last and this time they make me jump.....

If you search knitting needle up the fanjo on mumsnet im pretty sure you'll find its common!! Grin

I've had real cramping pain but like I had when suffering from ibs so hoping its a one off gut pain!

Great news on scans ladies....

Dorita75 · 26/02/2013 19:10

Loving the happy scan news!!! Congrats , everyone!

Luckily I'm not peeing all night, just wake once in the early hours but hate lying there trying to get back to sleep before I have to get up, it never works!

Rosie you really made me laugh about the ice cream tub!

I've had another fillet-o-fish meal from mcdonalds for my tea, I usually only eat them with hangovers but seem to be doing one a week these days. It's because I left work late, around ;sickness kicking in' time, and couldn't bear the thought of cooking or even going in to the kitchen with my super sensitive nose!
