creamtea here you go - enjoy Grin

225g self raising flour
pinch of salt
55g butter (cold)
30g cheese
150ml milk

Put flour & salt in a bowl
Grate in butter & cheese
Mix up with a fork so the flour gets coated and it clumps together
Add milk and knead a little to form a dough
Roll/flatten out to 2cm thick then cut 10 or so rounds/squares
Brush with milk and sprinkle with more cheese
Bake at 220C for 12-14 mins
Eat warm from oven with obscene amounts of butter Smile

Congrats to everyone with scans! Mine all good as well, though the little scamp was lying wrong so it took ages to get a measurement (and it meant I didn't get a particularly good pic - they were free though.). I've been re-dated as 13+6 and a new EDD of 28th aug - can I stay on this thread though, pretty please?

andadietcoke · 26/02/2013 19:22

kami I've had a weird achey fanjo a couple of days. Seems to have stopped at the moment though.

Dorita yep, once a night for me too. I wake DH up so he's not loving it.

I'm scarily emotional and not loving it. Cried three times today. Had a meeting with CEO about my maternity cover and he basically wants me to constructively dismiss one of my team because we both know she's not up to covering for me and he needs to save some overheads. I have to hand over everything to her and basically wait for her to fuck up fail.

Pinkbump3 · 26/02/2013 20:11

Congrats on all the scan news! I had my scan yesterday all went well they tried for ages to get a measurement but it was jumping around too much one measurement puts me at 10+5 today when lmp had me at 12 weeks yesterday so new Edd is 19sep midwife called today to say they will re-scan on the 11th march to check dates again so extra scan is a bonus! Grin

We told my girls last night and they where happy dh told my 3yr old which I didn't think she seemed bothered at or took any notice off but obviously she did as she outed me too her dance class tonight!! Blush very embarassing as her dance teacher said to her are you excited about your new costume to which she replied I'm excited about mummy's baby!! Had to laugh!

SGJ · 26/02/2013 20:20

Waaaaa, sympathy please, woke at 6am this morning with horrendous pain and sickness, shower and Gaviscon improved things briefly but felt awful all day, even after doing a massive poo and trumping like a bloke all evening.
How do you ladies with awful sickness cope?? Literally ALL DAY I've felt like I've got the sickiest hangover but without all the lovely boozing. Feeling very sad for myself and desperately hoping I don't get 2nd trimester sickness!
Has been lovely to read all about the fantastic scan news, so pleased its all good news!
Moan over, resume cheese scone discussions!

Dorita75 · 26/02/2013 20:41

Heaping dollops and dollops of sympathy on yousgj! I don't know how I coped, it's eased loads since wkend, as in I don't feel sick all day, just 4pm onwards..you just kind of 'exist' don't you?! I think everyone with children already or jobs like teaching or involving travel or food! deserve a medal! I don't know how they do it.

sjclarke86 · 26/02/2013 20:45

Gosh I'm so glad I only get sickness in the morning and if I go hungry!

I am totally knackered though, I'm usually a night person and won't sleep till about midnight.
I can't even do my housework at the moment I just get in from work and if I sit down I can't get back up! I really hope I get some energy back in 2nd trimester! How's everyone else coped with tiredness?

Well, I'm right at the tail end of this thread (and I had my dates moved 8 days backwards) so nowhere near scan date, and had booking in appointment today. Was not a pleasant experience. Started it off by having an asthma attack, and so the midwife has classed me as being high risk and I have to be part of the consultant led team. Then they couldn't find my vein to take bloods- first woman couldn't do it at all and just left me with numerous holes and bruises and second person took about 10 minutes, with a lot of umming and ahhing. Arm is very painful and the drive home was not pleasant.

Has anyone else been asked about blood cord donations? It's only available in a handful of London hospitals I think, but seems interesting. I read something a few weeks back as part of my obsessive trawl of the internet about how it's best to leave the baby attached to the placenta for a while, then push nutrients back in physically. I don't know much about this concept, but if I donate the cord then it'll be a wham, bam, chop and thank-you mam.

PurplePoppySeed · 26/02/2013 20:54

Creamtea you're not the only one pushed back - I had an 8 week scan that put me back to 6 weeks, went back at 10 weeks (their 8 weeks) and they said bean had caught up to 9 weeks, but they pushed my 12 weeks scan back anyway. My scan is on the 13th march when by rights I should be at 14 weeks so who knows what they'll say, I just hope it won't be too late for the nuchal measurement!

Choccie i went to the GP about my sinus infection, he put me on antibiotics which really helped.

13th march seems so far away!

MeanMrsMustard · 26/02/2013 20:57

Juniper - I saw a poster about cord donation at ucl, but I haven't been told about it. What is it exactly?

Creamtea1 · 26/02/2013 20:59

Thanks kitten! I shall be having some of those tomorrow.
Jacket potato, cheese and coleslaw for dinner :) I think that's now the thread 'official dish'

purple that sounds so frustrating - I was moaning about 4 days, but 2 weeks is an age!

MeanMrsMustard

From what I can gather...

After the cord is cut, they send someone over to collect the blood from the cord and placenta. However, if they don't have a member of staff available, it all becomes clinical waste or you can choose to donate it to medical research.

Assuming it gets collected, the blood goes into a worldwide bank, which then supplies donations to children suffering from numerous problems.

You have to agree to it before 36 weeks (I think).

MeanMrsMustard · 26/02/2013 21:24

Thanks Juniper. I will check its avaliability with my midwife in a fortnight.

Rosyisgonnabeamummy · 26/02/2013 21:29

I thort the cord is where you get stem cells from for stem cell research which in turn helps to find the cause and cures for genetic diseases ........

I'm less ranty now.

My due date was 8th sept then 28 aug but now 30 aug. I am staying here on this thread - I'm late for everything, I don't think birth will be any different.

fl0b0t · 26/02/2013 22:04

SGJ (got your letters in the right order this time) - I really feel for you. Sickness of any level and at any time during pregnancy is really crap. And you just.... have to kindof cope with it (i.e take time off work, lie onthe sofa, get medication and cry a lot!!!).

I have also had GASOFDOOM today- so on top of severe nausea and retching (though no vomming yet today after two long sessions yesterday!), I've been bloated out to -- ) here, and burping/farting like a gasmachine. It just won't stop. The burping makes me feel more sick and I had to go out in public today (commute and work) whilst trying to hold it all in. Horrible!

Readytosettle · 26/02/2013 22:18

I've been graced with the pleasure of thrush this week :-( been using an (18month out of date) old tube of canesten but it doesn't seem to be doing the job. Tried to get a replacement from boots today but they refused to sell it to a pregnant woman! Apparently I've got to go to the doc but I really don't have time for that. Any suggestions on what to do? I'm unbelievably itchy!

Also waking up a couple of times a night to pee....glad it's not just me :-)

frogchops · 26/02/2013 22:36

Was it the cream ready? I know you aren't supposed to take the tablet form when prego.... Otherwise natural yoghurt is meant to be very good.

Kilkers · 26/02/2013 22:38

Sorry to hear that Ready, all you need at the moment I'm sure! Is there any chance you could get a friend to get more canesten for you? Until then do you have any plain live yoghurt in the house? It won't cure it but can be very soothing to the itching. Hope you feel better soon.

Kilkers · 26/02/2013 22:39

Crossed post froggy, great minds and all that Grin

ZombiesAreClammyDodgers · 26/02/2013 22:54

fl0b0t are you me? Have been burping and farting like my life depended on it! I can practically punctuate my sentences with burps!

beans37 · 26/02/2013 23:15

Hello! Just popping in as am 11 weeks and wanted to wave a hello. Think I'm due around middle of sept, but scan not til 8th. Am a bit nervous as am 37 and fretting about raised chances of glitches.

Will be my third baby; have two lovely DDs already and don't mind what this one is, although sort of secretly hoping for another girl as have no idea what to do with boys and their bits. Ok, clearly not 100% true as I have two kids, but I mean baby boys! Plus, I've got loads of girls clothes and no boys ones!

Anyway, am loving reading about you all and hope to pop in and out a bit. I've horrified myself by putting on a stone in first trimester. Glick. Pure greed, I'm afraid. Although we do have twins in the family... ulp!

juniper9 · 26/02/2013 23:21

Readytosettle I had thrush last week. Same thing- had really old cream that was haemorrhaging out of splits down the side. I tried bio yoghurt but it did nothing so ended up at the doctor's. Free prescription!

Tesco sell it on the shelf, so no questions to answer about being pregnant.

Readytosettle · 27/02/2013 06:56

Thanks guys, it is the cream. I just haven't got time to go the docs as I'm travelling etc with work. I think I might just go somewhere else and lie....although I was hoping for some advice on whether I can use the pessary. I know the tablet is out, but I don't think the cream will be enough on its own!

jennimoo · 27/02/2013 07:22

I was prescribed pessary during 2ww and think its ok, but supposed to be prescribed. I just didnt stuff it in too far to be on safe side ;) HTH!
