EmmaDee, someone suggested a few weeks ago to tell them that you had a really heavy night the night before (say a hen night or something) and you're taking it easy cos you still feel like death.... It'll work once! Then you can have one glass late in the evening that you either drink or pretend to drink as Belvedere says.

Rosyisgonnabeamummy · 23/02/2013 15:09

Or drink gin and tonic. Without the gin. Heavy night one is a good call. I did that on New Year's Day

Belvedere · 23/02/2013 15:18

Yes just tonic was also a good trick, and actually felt like I was drinking something naughty!

Zoon · 23/02/2013 15:57

Hi all,
I dont get much time to come on here these days. Had scan and bloods done today. Results came back as high risk. 1:71. Gutted. With ds1 2yrs ago my odds were 1:150000. Really wanted/needed to start telling people about this pregnancy but need to hold off even longer. Scan puts me at 13+2,tho by my dates 12+5. Work sent out a memo saying no annual leave until april so they wont be impressed with me, taking time off at short notice. I have read 72hrs complete bed rest (how the f**# do u do that with a toddler) will be needed afterwards. I am so scared.
Sorry to be doom and gloom. If there is any advice or reassurance out there I would gratefully accept it!

KamikazeeKid · 23/02/2013 16:14

Zoon my friend had similar odds with dc3 and had the amnio.....all back fine. Fingers crossed you are the same and dont give work a 2nd thought its not annual leave its time out for you and baby. Hope you have plenty of support xx

chocciemousse · 23/02/2013 16:52

Zoon, both of my sister in laws plus a close friend had to do this too. My friend was given 1:4 so he chances were pretty high. Every baby was 100% fine and are now happy and healthy little bubs. Easier said than done but please try not to worry yourself too much. Do you have anyone who can look after your toddler for a day or two? Xx

Eeeknumber3 · 23/02/2013 16:55

Just checked out all my test results from ds1 and dd1, am very anal bout keeping stuff! I was 30 when had ds1 and his nuchal measurement was 1.3mm, the free beta hcg was 19.18ng/ml and Papp a was 1460miu/L...his combined risk came back as 1:31,000! I was 31 when I had dd1 and her nuchal measurement was 1.5mm, the free beta hcg was 62.1ng/ml (!) and Papp a was 1890miu/L...her combined risk came back as 1:1200. I remember being worried as it was a much higher risk than with ds1, but decided it was an acceptable risk. I'm sure it will be different this time, as am 6 years older. Don't know why I'm giving you all that info, thought someone might be interested!

Dorita75 · 23/02/2013 16:56

Emma could you say you've given up for lent or are trying to be healthy for fertility?? 'Luckily' I started with hormonal migraines so gave up alcohol months before I conceived so had a nice handy excuse that I don't think anyone even thinks twice about now.

I do like the 'had too much last night' excuse too, and no one notices if you have a glass later and don't really touch it (though you could have a sip Wink)

Hating the return of my sickness, sorry Kim! I really hope that I wake up on Friday (week 12) and find it gone. I know it's a loooooooong shot! I think when I have the scan on Friday and know there's something growing okay, I'll handle it a bit better, when I know it's worth it.

Rosyisgonnabeamummy · 23/02/2013 17:01

Zoon. I'm sending you lots of positive thoughts. Get your gp to sign you off work with something non specific. I'm sure if u explain they will help u. Mine would.

Eeeknumber3 · 23/02/2013 17:02

Sorry zoon that's a horrible worry. I dread it. But, at that figure it is still a 98.6% chance everything will be ok...you wouldn't believe how long it took me to remember how to do that Maths! Lots of luck x

Creamtea1 · 23/02/2013 17:22

I am 36 today, yay Hmm
Off out later for a 3 course meal but all I can think of is burgers!

OP posts:
Kilkers · 23/02/2013 17:37

Happy birthday Creamtea, have a lovely din-dins x

chocciemousse · 23/02/2013 17:47

Happy birthday creamtea! Have a lovely dinner out. I'm with you on the burger thing. Loving the thought of a burger right now. Mmmm

Kilkers · 23/02/2013 17:53

I'm seriously craving burgers at the mo too, and also pizza. Although not with gravy Grin

jennimoo · 23/02/2013 17:54

I went out last night and the burgers had been taken off the menu.

Sorry your stats aren't good zoon, hope you can sort out the rest you need.

Zoon · 23/02/2013 18:24

Thanks everyone. I am sure it will all work out ok. The waiting is the hardest part but I have waited this long, whats another week or so.

Happy birthday creamtea. Enjoy your evening.

Jenni -funny how both of us watched for ovulation so closely yet our scans have brought dates forward. My little man is still being a boob monster but milk disappearing now. Mixed feeling about that too but generally I think its good timing.

Thanks again for all the reassurance you have all cheered me up!

EmmaDee · 23/02/2013 18:33

Happy birthday cream tea!! Zoon I'm sure all will be ok, just try to relax although its not the easiest!

Heavy night last night seems to be good, suits me!! Don't think they'll bat an eyelid to that!!

Cheers for all the advice, dunno what is do without you lit t bounce off xx

frogchops · 23/02/2013 19:05

Kilkers are u possibly sniffing at my pizza and gravy!?!?Grin
Called my mlu today re dodgy pain....she said it sounds muscular and to rest lots.
Anyway, you'll all be pleased to know I'm eating fruit pastilles!!! Yessss. Purely medicinal u understand! Wink

Girraferama · 23/02/2013 19:39

I craved burgers yesterday and went out specially to have one - it was fab and such a relief to fancy eating something and then not only managing to eat it but enjoy it too!

Just scoffed a takeaway curry too.. Gonna be so fat after this baby!

frogchops · 23/02/2013 19:50

I'm not at all eating these fruit pastilles with dairy milk and vanilla cheesecake. Oohhh no.

hackneybird · 23/02/2013 20:10

Happy birthday cream tea!

My husband is doing his special home made burgers as we speak. How lucky am I!

Sorry haven't been on much, been epically busy what with house move etc. I have been very, very tired and poorly and no energy, but perking up now. Scan not til 7th march tho.

Hello to all of those who have joined us.

Good luck zoon,I am thinking of you. Xx

batfuttocks · 23/02/2013 20:26

Zoon , I know two babies who were higher risk and totally fine, one was 1:125 and the other 1:250. Have you heard of the harmony test ? It is expensive (400 I think!) and only available at the fettle medicine centre in London, but gives you a DNA profile of the baby from a blood test, so no miscarriage risk or need to have bed rest. Google it or search on here as I have seen several mums use it. Try to remember you've a 70:71 chance of it all being fine x

batfuttocks · 23/02/2013 20:27

Fetal not fettle. Obviously.

jennimoo · 23/02/2013 20:45

I know zoon, I can't understand it, and as I really want to avoid induction (although DD was 9 days early) 6 days forward is quite a lot! I can only
assume that maybe I implanted a little early and that all the bagels caused baby to develop extra fast ;)

BinarySolo · 23/02/2013 21:43

£750 for the Down's syndrome screening! Shock

Try not to worry zoon.

Happy birthday creamtea!
