Re family history... I remember with booking in appointment with DD..

Midwife asked 'Are you and your partner related?'

Me - 'No!'
Midwife - 'Well.. you do live in XXXXXX!!'

I'd just moved to the area, at 8 months pregnant to escape the bit city.. so
was a bit like Hmm Just waiting for that question to come up again!

TheFalconsmistress · 28/02/2013 17:21

Thanks rockchick I am going to look into that at my scan on the 26th march when i will be 13.2 weeks :)

OP posts:
doobeedee · 28/02/2013 17:35

Had booking in. She did need a wee sample but was ok as I needed one again by the time she wanted it. Bit difficult to aim into the tiny pot though! Scan booked for the 25th of March.

Wispa123 · 28/02/2013 17:58

Hi ladies, been a while since I last posted. Nearly 9 weeks but still scared it'll all go wrong so have been keeping quiet. First MW appointment tomorrow and have already filled in a stack of forms with family history etc. I had to laugh when I came across the 'Are you related to your baby's father?' question! Haha! The thought makes me cringe! I've had a little bit of brown discharge this week but after lots of googling and mumsnet reading have concluded that its pretty normal (old blood clearing itself out is pretty commmon apparently...sorry, TMI!! Sleeping is still a major challenge. Awful indigestion / trapped wind seems to hit me early evening making sleeping really difficult. Andy advice? Hoping it'll improve in a few weeks...roll on 12 weeks to see if our little bean has decided to stay put!

Glad to hear most people are ok...all very VERY exciting but oh so worrying at the same time! p.s. how do I put little faces on messages? I think I'm just being thick but when I click on them nothing happens!!

CelticPromise · 28/02/2013 18:10

Falcon I'm using cloth with DS, have found it no bother at all. My council gave grant towards the cost, but we didn't spend much. It was a good investment since DS shows no inclination to potty train!

roxvox · 28/02/2013 18:36

TDD32 most of the information was actually adverts, so I cleared those out! Then there were some leaflets regarding the scans. There was also meant to be a book included (I can't remember what it was called, will have a look later), but they had run out so instead gave me the worlds longest website address to find an online version of the book. The only thing we talked about was what food not to eat.

I have been looking into reusable nappies too. I like the idea of them. I will have to have a look into whether there is any funding available now.

cazboldy · 28/02/2013 18:41

had my booking...... massive form compared to last time.... urine, bloods, bp done. and a co2 breathalyzer!!! Grin

Due date apparantly 03/10 which makes me 9+2 (but i won't change my place on the stats til after a scan, as I don't reckon that's right!)

Got to have a GTT next tuesday as I have PCOS and that apparantly makes you more at risk .... Hmm (never had one before!)

also have to have consultant led care as this is a high risk pg as it's my 6th !

but the mw said thats rubbish, as she has never seen anyone with a more straightforward history, and that if I want a hb she'll back me all the way Grin (she was lovely by the way Smile)

Not sure yet, as our local hospital has just opened a really good new birthing centre, and with having older children now, am wondering if it might be best to go there??!! it is only 20 mins away......

all seems a bit more real now, and looking forward to my scan in a few weeks!! Smile

Glad to hear your good news pink xxx

pinksky · 28/02/2013 18:44

I hope everyone is doing well this afternoon. Jellycurls did you call the mw? Hope the pain has subsided.

that's lovely about your FIL, star

Sounds like people have quite different booking in appointments, that surprises me. It's nice to hear that people are having appointments though, including scans dates, and getting given things. As you say, roxvox makes it feel more real!

I'd like to try reusables too, maybe after a month or two though. A friend recommended getting a selection of brands' starter kits before committing to a full set. There doesn't seem to be a nappy library here which surprises me.

Rockchick it was transvaginal--they had a good root around! But so worth it.

pinksky · 28/02/2013 18:49

congratulations, caz! My SIL chose a birthing centre for her 4th (8yr age gap) - she was able to stay a few days in a small room and just chill with the baby away from the frenetic pace of life at home. Not sure if that's the kind of thing you'd like?

roxvox · 28/02/2013 18:56

Right, I have found the leaflet re the book I should have received from the midwife. It's and NHS book called 'The Pregnancy' and it is apparently 'currently out of stock at the Department of Health', and so I was given this link to download it chapter by chapter.

According to the midwife, and the leaflet it is a very useful guide on pregnancy and birth that they highly recommend reading...

I thought I would share in case anyone was interested, especially for those in foreign countries who may not get any free English information!

OrangeBlossom2 · 28/02/2013 19:06

Great to hear all is well pinksky, wow I didn't know they could detect heartbeats that early. It must be nice and strong. Smile Welcome mumwithcamera. It is interesting how much the booking in process seems to vary. I am looking forward to mine but it won't be until about 11 weeks in my area which seems ages away.

I had a surprise observation at work today and it was probably the worst lesson they have ever seen me do as I felt so sick and exhausted I was not at all enthusiastic about what I was doing. The head then asked to meet with me after school and I got worried but it was actually about something different. I wonder if anyone will guess before I tell them. I am not planning on telling work until after the 12 week scan, particularly as my 2 best friends at work just handed in their notice too!

OrangeBlossom2 · 28/02/2013 19:08

Thanks for the link roxvox.

Natalieand · 28/02/2013 19:13

Blimey where do I start u chatty lot lol.

Just put a very tired dd too bed and chilling on the sofa waiting for hubby to get home from work.

Re: booking appts we filled in tonnes of forms, had bloods, by, urine done and midwife called today to say they are concerned about my got and will contact me in the next fortnight to to a gtt to rule out gestational diabetes doesn't help that I'm quite over weight too. But that wasn't an issue tbh when I had dd1

pinksky excellent news about your scan!! You must have had a mini panic attack I know I would have done!

cherry I also am young like yourself 22(23 in June) had dd1 when I was 20 she was planned with my do as is this baby, I agree with u sometimes ppl just think that cos your young u didn't plan to have babies, we also private rent a property like yourself ours is only 2 bed ATM were just deciding when's best to move to a 3 bed, if at all if baby is a girl as this is quite a large 2 bed. Hubby works full time (well more than full time it's ridiculous tbh lol) I worked on a specialist stroke unit at the local hospital but decided not to return as we have fertility issues and wasn't sure if dd would be our only one and I felt I didn't want to miss a single day of her life because the option of returning part time. Anyway that's my life story over with lol

7 weeks pregnant feels much better than six cos it means I'm nearly 8 weeks and that defrost sounds more substantial lol. On Sunday it will be exactly 1 month till the 12 week scan!!!

Hope everyone's feeling ok this evening and putting their feet up :-)

Natalieand · 28/02/2013 19:27

Defrost? I meant deffo damn mumsnet for not letting u edit your posts after you've posted lol

MrsAFlowerpot · 28/02/2013 19:46

Hi all. I've been quiet this week due to a mixture of returning to school post half term and nerves following my slight bleed last week. 8+2 currently but not had my booking in appt yet! All feels okay currently and lovely to read all of your news

JellyCurls · 28/02/2013 21:05

mrs flowerpot glad you are ok, I was thinking about you today.

Never called midwife as pains eased a little. Bath and early night but if still sore tomorrow I will call for advice

JellyCurls · 28/02/2013 21:07

Looked at link roxvox looks like info we get up in Sunny Scotland. Our book is called Ready Steady Baby and they have just launched a good free phone app. Gives weekly updates and food advice etc would recommend it

TheFalconsmistress · 28/02/2013 22:37

jellycurls ready steady baby is good isnt it.

I would deffo join the boots parenting club 10 points in the pound when you buy baby stuff and a free changing bag!

Feeling down in my mood a bit tonightSad

Whos starting the new thread then?

OP posts:
Sparkeleigh · 28/02/2013 22:38

Hi,
Could I join please? I've been lurking for a while but I think the tiredness, frequent trips to the bathroom, extreme hunger and constantly looking at the pic of my POAS result have finally convinced me I'm really pregnant Blush

I'm Sparkeleigh, 31, EDD 25th October (0 DC)

Time seems to be passing so slowly, I'm 6 weeks today and I can't wait to get to 8 weeks to breathe a little easier! We're telling our parents over the weekend I think, but swearing them to secrecy.

favellio · 01/03/2013 06:17

Morning all,
I hope everyone's doing ok this morning?
The 24hr nausea has hopefully passed for me but still getting it intermittently throughout the day. I've gone off loads of my favourite foods and craving others (although nothing random yet!).
I'm waking up at 5.30am every morning, feeling sick but not actually being sick and today I woke up craving ice cream, so that is my breakfast today lol
I think I'm due around 20th October but got a letter about my scan yesterday, and I've got to wait until 10th April for my dating scan, which seems ages away!! :-(
We've told my parents and best friend, so if something does happen, we have some support. We're going to tell my husband's parents and my sister over the next few weeks, but keep it at those few close family members until after the scan, when we'll start broadcasting it a bit further!
Right, I'm gonna finish this ice cream them take the rubbish out, because I don't know about anyone else but my sense of smell has gone through the roof and certain smells make me want to throw up!!
Love to you all x

P.S. what nicknames have you given your impending bump?? We refer to ours as gizmo. The other day I heard a couple talking about their bump and they'd called it Iggle Piggle!!!!

pinksky · 01/03/2013 06:52

Gizmo is lovely, Favellio. Ours is called Lucky Dave...!

pinksky · 01/03/2013 07:00

Welcome and congratulations. Sparkeleigh! I've put you and MumWithCamera on the list (if I've ballsed it up can someone sort out, please!)

PseudoBadger · 01/03/2013 07:02

7 weeks today, vomited for the first time in the kitchen sink (nice) whilst poor DS was saying 'bless you mummy' :o

OrangeBlossom2 · 01/03/2013 07:26

Favellio i have been waking up about 3am each morning feeling hot and sick too. This morning i can smell sick but cant see any evidence... Confused sorry tmi! Agree the bins smell horrible but an excuse to get DH to empty them. Oh dear badger! WhAt a cute DS. One more day then it's the weekend, woo! Going to stay with best friend while DH is on a stag weekend. Looking forward to sharing my news in real life.

Rockchick1984 · 01/03/2013 07:29

Pseudo I vomited for the first time yesterday evening, and am due the same date as you - must be getting to the right stage for it (lucky us Hmm )

We've been referring to the baby as Pip, as the first time my app referred to its size was as being comparable to an apple pip :) I didn't find out until later that I was having DS, so he was Blueberry for the same reason!!

Welcome Sparkle
