Evening all. Welcome Josine - congrats on the girl and wow on starting your maternity leave so soon. Like Vinegar I am not starting till late June so v envious. please add yourself to due date, gender stats list - second post from start of thread has a link to it.

Schro - the new look sale looks like great value.

Had a lovely day today - light show at Hayward was great (and the kids loved it). Would definitely recommend.

I hope everyone had a good day. We went bowling with DD and another family and had a great time, despite being beaten by toddlers (although they did have side bars and a guide that we lined up to push the balls off!)

Hope everyone has had a lovely Sunday. Bump gave me a lovely card, what a clever little thing. Its writing looks a lot like its daddy's though! Had some great news today too - one of my best friends is also pregnant, due at the end of September. Pity she is all the way in Oz.

Have been busy planning for the arrival of the little one, it's starting to get a little more real now. Pushchair and cot ordered and due to be delivered next week (eek). Braved a nearly new sale (not an NCT one) yesterday and picked up five plain white body suits and two sleep suits all for £4! What a bargain. MIL gave us some M&S vouchers that were expiring so picked up a few little bits for baby from there.

Had a little scare last week with stomach cramps and back ache so ended up in triage. All okay though but was pretty terrified at the time. And blaming my doctor a little as when I went for an antenatal appointment, she told me I was at a greater risk of having a short cervix because of a cervical biopsy and therefore could miscarry up to 24 weeks. Of course I was massively fretting about it for the rest of the week and ended up at the hospital. Doctor had a quick look and said cervix looked normal - if only the other doctor had done that to start with!! Grrr.

How have everyone's scans been? All seems okay with baby Kanny although s/he was being a little uncooperative on the day so we've ended up with rather disappointing pictures. But everything is in the right place, phew! I'm starting to feel a little movement but am impatient for DH to feel it too - has anyone managed this yet?

Can't wait for maternity leave, am starting to lose motivation at work. Currently working with the numpties in HR to work out my holiday allowance (no offence meant to anyone that works in HR!) I'm hoping to keep going to 37/38 weeks, what is everyone else thinking?

Welcome Josine. Impressed with your lovely start date for mat leave. I'm going till July.

Had a fab weekend at the weekend with DH and my brother and his GF. Suffered a bit yesterday as lots of walking / cheering on Scotland/ standing in bars! I've also got bad reflux which is limiting sleep.

Scan on Tuesday - cant wait. Will keep sex a surprise.

Happy Mothers Day all. I've had a lovely card from DD and a teddy which apparently she insisted on. Chinese takeaway ordered.

Thanks for the new look tip Schro. Hot milk bras were mostly sold out but got a couple of tops and a dress. Hope they look ok in real life.

DH has felt the baby move which is pretty cool (I'm 22+4).

Also trying to work out with HR about going on mat leave. Split between taking annual leave (of which I will have loads) before ML and therefore leaving early, or saving it to make sure I have more time afterwards. Complicated by fact that I don't know if/when my mat cover will start and as we'll be in the middle of launching a massive project, I really need to do a proper handover but that's not really in my control.

Tending towards going earlyish, so 35/36 weeks maybe? I remember being really tired by the time I left last time, at about the same time and I think it'll be worse this time around.

But I can't decide!

Josine - I agree with the others, low rise pants a size up are your best bet.

Mummykanny - sorry you had a scare but glad all OK. Sounds like you are well prepared for baby now.

Citizen - if you have lots of holiday to take, and a big project, I would say 35 weeks but mat leave tailing you for that last week.

Sounds like you had a great holiday Supershiv - could do with some of that sun and warmth over here!

The light show sounds great, and a perfect way to spend a chilly Sunday. I have the day off on Friday so might visit. Love the southbank centre.

I know people at work that have lasted until 38 weeks and then others that have had to start early. The thought of a handover note is making me shudder already!

Dinky light show sounds fantastic. It's things like that that really make me miss living down South.

Grannyapple it was more a photocopied folded bit of paper than a leaflet but Dinky summed up the advice well and the rest was about birth options and problems it could cause!

I'm in awe of those teaching. No idea how you have the energy.

My DH felt movement for the first time Friday night and I'm 23+6 wks now.

I'm on leave this week visiting my parents with DS. Wish it was somewhere sunny though. Hope everyone else is keeping warm in this icy spell.

MatLeave topic I originally was going to take mine from 29 weeks but decided to push it back to 34 while DH is building up new freelance work. I am so ready for it to be warmer so I can get a body of energy I am weening at work and have to start training a new girl today.

Oh! And I'm 22 weeks today. So looking forward to next week will be 23 weeks on the week of my birthday which is on the 23 :)

My belly button is now officially more of an outie than an innie
There is still a (tiny) inwards dip, but it's mostly sticking out or flat. Yesterday a friend told me her belly button never went back in after DC2. She's incredibly slim though, so I'm wondering if a bit of belly podge would help recreate an innie belly button????

Morning ladies, just a quickie before I forget (again!) Re back backs and bad pelvice pain - with previous 3 pregnancies I was already having physio by now, but his timei have bought some insoles from boots that hold my ankle straight, which in turn means knees hips and pelvice are much more allaigned = no pain, so far!

So simple but it has made a massive difference to me.

Anywho offf to do the school run

Totally - dont worry, I think its extremely rare for a belly button to remain an outie for ever more post pregnancy. Let your belly button be out and proud I say (even if I am starting to sound like Stonewall for belly buttons).

Photographer - hope your DH gets better soon. I've found a humidifier on at nights helps massively with the kids nocturnal coughs - may be worth a go?

Big Belly - its amazing how small adjustmetns to the posture can work such miracles isnt it? Glad you're pain free so far.

In other news I FINALLY felt movement! Seems my tummy has turned into a tumble drier overnight.

I've been for my combined antenatal appointment/DS3's 2 year check with the health visitor this morning. I started off by spending 40 minutes waiting for a single decker bus to avoid lifting the double buggy and aggravating the SPD. Which meant arriving at school with 2 very cold and grumpy children and a mad dash across town to the dr surgery. DS3 decided to have a massive temper tantrum in the health visitor's office but other than that the appointment went quite well. The breastfeeding group is being reorganised and hopefully that means I'll be allowed to go (had to stop going with DS3 as they introduced a new rule banning mobile babies/toddlers). I got a load of breastfeeding leaflets and a referral to the infant feeding specialist. I see her again in June and then after DC4 is born.

Welcome josine. I'm very jealous you your mat leave, I'mnot starting mine until 37 weeks (14 weeks of work left I'm not counting, honest ).

DH felt movement for the first time saturday (I'm now 23+5). And I noticed yesterday you can see my belly move with big kicks. It's quite exciting, even if it does remind me a bit too much of the Alien films!

My belly button is still in, just about, but my piercing scars are continuing to migrate upwards! I never considered this when I was 17. I'm also starting to get a faint linea nigra, but no stretchmarks yet thank god.

Photographer - hurrah for movement! Bet you won't be able to stop noticing it now.

EggFlipped - my umbilical sympathies. I fear mine may be heading in a similar direction. I have coughed it out over the last week .

Persuasion I also have a lineage nigra.

I am also suspicious of a few leg veins and will be wearing my compression stockings with a vengeance.

ellie can I ask about the 2 yr check up..do we arrange it ourselves or do we get a letter from hv for that one? Ds turned 2 at end if last month & I thought he was due a check up but wasn't quite sure...

Defo movements here & noticed I could see them thru my belly last night...forgot how weird that can be... Think this girl is gonna be a dancer at this rate....constantly on the go...

Persuasion - a girl I was at uni with had a tattoo of a flower done around her belly button. I dread to think what that would look like after a few kids...

Ellie - sounds like you had a good appointment (and toddlers/preschoolers are meant to have tantrums - probably just ticked off another one of the developmental check boxes on the HV's list). Would be great if you could use the bf support they have there as I always think its not just first time mums who need support.

granny The hv rang me to book it. DS3 was 2 in January so you'll probably either hear from yours or get a development milestones questionnaire through the post.
