Flying ((hugs))

I'm glad your sister was with you and your DH could fly home and is with you now. Its completely understandable that you are in discomfort of every kind. When you are ready, I would really recommend counselling - i have seen firsthand how it has helped dear friends who have had a traumatic loss through a dark confused time. Insomnia and reliving everything over and over is very common, and to be expected as you process what has happened. Take it easy today and make sure you look after yourself x

Oh flying I'm so sorry. Please take the time to look after yourself. I went through something similar a few years ago and know how awful it is. Rest and take it easy and don't be afraid to grieve. Have an unmumsnetty hug from me too x

Welcome butterfly more twins! Exciting stuff!

Scan went well. Little one was uncooperative though. Had to get up and jump around to get him to move (the use of him is not indicative of anything - we didn't find out lol). She still couldn't check his face and one angle of the heart that they're supposed to get so got to go back at 23 weeks for another scan. On the plus side everything checked is healthy and growth is spot on the middle of the centiles for everything.

Certainly getting my money's worth out of through nhs. This will be scan no 6 when I go back Smile

20 + 1

flying so sorry to hear your sad news, thoughts are with you at your family x

Chinainthegarden · 23/02/2013 08:28

Flying I've been lurking on this thread for a week or so, but just wanted to say I was so sorry to hear your news. I'm glad you and your DH are taking care of each other, I hope you get lots of time to come to terms with what has happened.

I had my scan yesterday for DC1. Having convinced myself (and DH) we were having a boy it turns out we're having a girl! Sonographer took a good look between the legs several times and said she was as sure as she could be. Took about an hour to stop mentally calling mini-China 'he'! Am now going to have to put my mind to thinking of girls' names. Of course my mother and grandmother say that they knew all along it was going to be a girl (apparently they could 'tell' from the 12 week scan photo, despite it only really showing the head!)

Supershiv1 · 23/02/2013 11:20

flying absolutely gutted for you.
I kind of always felt we were on a similar journey as we both had bleeding and scans at similar times.
Plus although I haven't changed the due date thread we were due within 2 days of each other.
Take care and do keep popping in xxx

paolocee · 23/02/2013 12:27

Oh, flipping hell, Flying, that's just so unfair. Our thoughts are with you.

The Two Ronnies are fine and dandy if a tiny bit behind schedule. Just a day or two, though. Unable to tell the genders yet. Will find out on next scan - March 25.

elliejjtiny · 23/02/2013 12:57

I think you can work out the weight with a bit of maths if you know the head circumference, abdomen circumference and femur length. I'll see if I can find the sum for you all.

photographerlady · 23/02/2013 13:52

So I was going through my notes and reading the nice "Guide to Pregnancy" book my midwife gave me. Last night my DH tucked me in and read the week 20-23 chapter out loud "vagina discharge, piles and leaky nipples". Geeez the look on his face :)

No more bed time reading for us I think.

paolocee · 23/02/2013 15:12

I had been enjoying some fish pie, photographerlady.....Shock

butterflyexperience · 23/02/2013 17:06

Photo - hearing how the men are all ConfusedShock about pregnacy stuff always makes me snigger.
Especially when we have to deal with all their leaks! Wink

dinkystinky · 23/02/2013 18:04

Welcome China - please add yourself and your due date to the due date list - link second post down on thread. Glad your scan went well - and yours too MysteryMeg.

Ellie - thanks but my maths is worse than abysmal so I'd probably calculate a 10 tonne bean. Mind you given the size of my bump...

Photographer - remind him that those are only things that might happen, not necessarily will...

Oh no it was light-hearted and we laughed about it. The funniest thing was each chapter has good info about baby growth and little side bit about side effect but nope not chapter week 20-23 and it just happen to be the one he read out :)

dinkystinky · 23/02/2013 18:39

Thank god for that - had visions of your dh terrified that you were turning into the creature from the black lagoon :-)

MummyKanny · 23/02/2013 18:41

Oh flying, how impossibly sad. Thinking of you. I can't imagine what you're going through, hope you're being looked after. Thanks

19+2 today, feeling a lot more movement. Not sure if they are kicks but they are certainly more pronounced. Looking forward to the scan on Thursday, although it isn't until 4:30 so the wait is going to be unbearable! At my last appointment the doctor said I was at risk of having an incompetent cervix (due to a colposcopy just over a year ago) so pretty nervous about that.. Hoping everything is okay, not sure I like the idea of being stitched up!

So has anyone else been to the Baby Show? We managed to pick up a couple of bargains. There is a lot of stuff that seems superfluous but some good deals to be had. Would love to hear about any good deals people managed to nab.

19+2

dinkystinky · 23/02/2013 18:53

Not been to baby show MummyKanny but saw an article on the giant bouncer for adults being shown there - did you pick one up?

princessllama · 23/02/2013 19:02

flying i am really sorry, it is sad sad news. we won't forget you and your baby on our thread. i am glad your dh is with you.

princessllama · 23/02/2013 19:09

would have loved to have gone to the baby show mummykanny but no where near it -is it the london one or birmingham? i know both no good.
does anyone know if you have to be a member to go to an nct sale?
also co-sleeping cots-are they able to be raised up and down or do you have to hope your bed is standard height?
have just received most of my baby kit back from sil. i am so lucky as told her when i gave it to her that she could do what she wanted with it, i wouldn't need it ever again-little did i know... feel a bit bad as she has 1 dd who is 3 and is v keen to have another but i know my brother is making her wait (or wasHmm (wouldn't have put up with that myselfWink. anyway sil has been quite weird about handing stuff back (she thinks some of her sister's stuff might be in it too). she is not good about talking about these things so haven't managed to have a conversation about it all. think they might be trying now too maybe-arrgh, family dynamics!

princessllama · 23/02/2013 19:10

also, do we think the babies will need a cotton hat for coming out of hospital? and would they overheat if they were wearing woollen knitted cardigan?

Guavasforbreakfast · 23/02/2013 19:19

princess the one I'm hoping to go to in March just opens half an hour earlier for members, everyone else can come after that. I didn't think that an extra half an hour was worth paying extra for to be honest - would just make me spend more as more on offer :-)

dinkystinky · 23/02/2013 19:22

Princess - can't speak as to cosleep cots as just cosleep in my bird for first couple of weeks. You will only need cotton hat for baby if weather is cool - given recent summers its anyone's guess as to whether that will be the case or not! Ditto the wool cardis (they will be handy for cool evenings anyway).

OP posts:
dinkystinky · 23/02/2013 19:25

Hmm incomprehensible last post meant to say cosleep in my bed. Fricking autocorrect.

OP posts:
photographerlady · 23/02/2013 19:49

Glad others are feeling movement. Sadly I'm feeling none at all which I am trying to not get too worried about as my scan is the week after next and don't want to get worked up. I am hoping its just because its my first and I naively don't know what it should feel like :/

dinky black lagoon heehee

princess our NCT nearly new sales start in April. Not sure what I will need maybe a baby bath and some cloth nappies.

elliejjtiny · 23/02/2013 20:01

princess DS1 was born in July (2006 so very hot that year) and his first outfit was a vest, sleepsuit with no feet, matching hat and socks. The midwife came round the next day and took off his sleepsuit and hat, saying he was too hot.

DS3 was born in January (2011) and was wearing a sleepsuit, vest, knitted cardigan and cotton hat. The midwife came round the next day, told me off for letting his feet go blue and shoved him down my nightie to warm up before phoning the childrens ward in a mad panic who said we needed to come in. When we arrived (after adding socks, booties and a thick blanket to DS3's outfit) he was absolutely fine and his feet were a more healthy colour but we were kept in for 4 hours and left feeling a bit daft.

So maybe I'm not the best person to ask Grin

princessllama · 23/02/2013 20:18

ha! that's quite funny ellie, i was pg with my first the summer of 2006 and nearly went mental with the heat, total crazy lady!
