Ahh, lovely news starfish.

Oh bugger, pancake day is next week. My dcs are expecting pancakes tonight!! Dilemma.

Kilkers · 05/02/2013 14:49

That's so lovely to hear starfish, I still have 4 weeks to wait for my first scan Envy I think I might explode having to wait for it!

Also very sorry to hear your news jm Thanks

batfuttocks you could always have pancakes two weeks in a row!

Re all the food talk, I think I've only put on a pound or 2 as my trousers are a bit tight, can't really tell as we don't own any scales! I've also been feeling like carbs all the time, I wish it was lettuce that made me feel less sick. I'm trying not to be too naughty but I figure it won't last (touch wood) and I can be good for the rest of the pregnancy. My savour has been Tesco Value bags of ready salted crisps, 79p for 12 bags! It's great because they're not too big so I don't feel too piggy.

I've also increased my intake of fruit (and dried fruit!) as the pooping fairy is not visiting me too often these days Grin

andadietcoke · 05/02/2013 14:51

Awww starfish that's lovely. I still haven't got a scan appt through (unless there's one bundled in with my consultant AN appt that turned up yesterday).

Kittenkatzen · 05/02/2013 15:16

Lovely to hear of everyone's happy scan news Smile

Just got home from my booking appointment. Managed to only almost pass out when they took my blood so I'm relatively pleased with that!

Food wise I seem to be snacking loads and loads, but am struggling with big portions where I never did before. I'm trying to stick to healthy-ish snacks but sometimes only junk will do - current fave is m&s salt & vinegar chipsticks. Yum. Weight wise I've put on half a kilo in the last 3 weeks, and in total am about 2 kilos heavier than normal....some of that will be Christmas poundage though.

Starfishkiss · 05/02/2013 15:17

Ooh You may well have a scan that same day, because I also have a consultant appointment the same time as my (next) 12 weeks scan, but I thought it was just a scan IYSWIM.
What are your dates? Everyone should have a scan at or around 12 weeks, so does it correlate?

andadietcoke · 05/02/2013 15:21

It should have been next week, so only 10 weeks. I couldn't make that appt so it's now at 11 weeks. 11 would be okay for a scan, 10 felt a bit early, so that's why I wondered what was going on.

Creamtea1 · 05/02/2013 15:38

Just to say my consultant (first) appt and my scan are on the same day at the hospital, back to back - but they did write on the appt card 12.00 scan, 12.45 consultant.
And then small print of please allow 2 hours to see the consultant! Going on previous experience that doesn't mean seeing them for 2 hours, it means sit there waiting for 2 hours before you can start complaining your appt is late... Hmm

Starfishkiss · 05/02/2013 15:51

dietcoke maybe give them a call to ask? Because if not i would have though they would need to get your scan booked in pretty soon?

andadietcoke · 05/02/2013 16:17

Don't want to bother them, but DH doesn't want to miss a scan, and I don't want him to have to take a morning off school for no reason (although I think he would love an unnecessary morning off school)

Starfishkiss · 05/02/2013 16:21

Ahh go'wan don't be silly! (- channelling Mrs Doyle there!)
Give em a call and put your mind to rest! Grin

batfuttocks · 05/02/2013 16:39

Oops. Opened Nutella ( was for pancakes that will now not happen) and attacked it with a spoon.

Not much left now.

GirlWithTheYellowHat · 05/02/2013 17:11

My hospital finally have my referral! Hope to get a scan date through soon. Pleased at all the happy scan news!

Just ate a bag of Roysters and they tasted like the best thing I'd eaten in months Smile

andadietcoke · 05/02/2013 17:37

Mmmm. Roysters. You've inspired a Kettle Chip dinner.

KamikazeeKid · 05/02/2013 17:44

Jm...really sorry to hear your news.

Creamtea I have to eat to stop the sickness.... Ive put on around 6 lbs after losing 2....prob due to wine withdrawal?!! I put on 2 stone with DS but fear it'll be double that at this rate!

OP posts:
georgie22 · 05/02/2013 18:24

Sorry to hear that Jm - must be an awful shock. Also sorry to those who have left the thread.
It's certainly moving on - had an early scan today and had a major panic when they couldn't see a heartbeat from the abdominal probe. They were very good and could obviously sense my panic. She then did a trans-vaginal scan and we saw our little bean and its flickering heart beat. I have a retrograde uterus following my first pregnancy which explains the difficulty in seeing baby abdominally. Dates are more or less spot on - I thought I was 9+3 but my scan has dated me at 9+2. Such a relief after that initial panic.
Have felt nauseous for much of the day today but I've been very lucky in both this pregnancy so far and my last one and sickness has never been awful. That's helped me keep my news quiet - only my parents and boss know our news.
Booked my nuchal scan privately as can't face waiting a week for my result on the NHS. Had a private scan last time so think the peace of mind and speedy result is worth the cost.

Dorita75 · 05/02/2013 18:24

I'm so sorry jm that is terrible news, I hope you have lovely people around you in RL to hold your hand x

cravingformilk · 05/02/2013 18:26

So very sorry to hear your news JM. Thanks

I don't think my weight has changed much at all. Must be lack of wine because I am eating tons of carbs - in fact I have jaw ache from chomping on so much food Wink.

Went for my MW booking apt today, I was in for almost an hr! Everything went well except my urine showed signs of an infection, the MW said she will send it away and they will contact me if there is any problems. Oh, and she booked my scan in for 1st March when I'll be 11+6Grin. Seems so far away!

Dorita75 · 05/02/2013 18:29

Today I have eaten-
Crunchy nut cornflakes
Ready salted French fries
Baked potato and cheese
Rice pudding
About 6 sherbet lemon sweets
Pizza

I've been eating more fruit but just not todayGrin Quite frankly, I don't give a rats ass about putting weight on at the moment, I just have to stop this nausea-am hoping for it ending by week 12 when I'll get my energy back and start exercising any excess weight off!!

frogchops · 05/02/2013 20:05

Was a bit sad today.... For really stupid reasons, ...
At work I felt a bit crappy, and because my boss knows I told her I didn't feel good, just a bit hurty and cramps etc, she suggested I see the midwife at work. Knowing the rest of the staff would gossip, she sorted a little appointment out for me and told the receptionist I'd need to see the midwife on behalf of her regarding something work related. (Completely feasible in our work!)
However the receptionist collared me and asked me outright if I was preggers. I lied lots and said no. She said she didn't believe my bosses reasons for booking a midwife appt.
Anyway, this aside, I was laughing with my boss about this a bit later and she said I might have to tell them soon as she doesn't think I'll keep my tummy a secret for much longer. :-(
I didn't think you could tell but apparently you can. At 7 friggin weeks. Really?
Ok rant over, but think I just felt like its all running away with me and I'm not in control anymore! Really didn't want to tell anyone till 12 weeks.

SGJ · 05/02/2013 20:08

Well done Kitten on not fainting! I hate having blood taken, uurgh.

As for food, weight and exercise: have probably put on about 2-3 lbs though hard to say exactly because seem to weigh loads more at night then back to 'normal' by the morning. Food - generally carby so need to work more fruit & veg in (Graze box arriving Monday!) and combined with lack of legitimate exercise (though looking after DD takes ALOT of energy) means I am feeling like a proper porker, though I know it's just a change in shape rather than a change in weight.

Jm - I'm so sorry about your mum. I wish there was some way we could help, or something to say that would ease your pain and worry, but I know that right now it won't feel like anything can help. My best wishes for you and your family xx

Zoon · 05/02/2013 20:32

Hi everybody,
Havent posted for a very long time (these first 12 wks feel like a life time). I am 10 +2 and feel massive. I have no symptoms except hunger and i am eating and eating mostly rubbish food too. i have put on 4lb which according to a little app that i have is excessive. Last time round i put on 4stone but lost it all and more reasonably quickly without much effort so hope same happens again.
I had cramps and some bleeding so had early scan at 9wks but all was well. I had fairly heavy bleeding throughout first trimester with DS so have tried to keep calm and not stress. Obviously its how my body deals with early pregnancy.
I am off skiing nxt wk then having private oscar scan at 13wks. Cant wait to have this pregnancy out in the open!
I am so sorry to hear people have left us, I hope you all are well supported and that it doesnt take long to get bfp again -sending you all love and good wishes.

JM - i am so so sorry. Hang in there. Your little bean is amazingly strong and resilient. And will bring you so much comfort and love in the coming months. What a strong Example of the circle of life. Your mum would be so so proud of the bean that you are growing. Take care of yourself. Dont be afraid to cry, be sad, angry, whatever you need. And obviously vent here as much as u need. My thoughts are with you. xxx

Zoon · 05/02/2013 20:34

Ps would somebody mind adding me to that very very long list. Bfp 22dec, due 1st sept.
Thanks

amiready · 05/02/2013 20:41

Hello everyone. Nice to hear the updates.

Tried to hear with doppler at work today but no joy Sad 9+2
Still having a nightmare with work over the contract which is deeply depressing Sad
Still no symptoms, wondering if anything is really in there? Sad

Anyone heard anything from kimjayne ?

Still can't believe we haven't told anyone yet! In a way it's nice to know all that excitement is still to come (hopefully). Helps make the bad contract stuff better.

Wouldn't it be so cool if just for one hour we could all be in the same room and just have a big natter and get it out of our systems!

So sorry jm I can't imagine how it feels. Did she know about the pg? I'm so sorry. I hope you're ok. I don't know the words to say, it's unimaginable.

GirlWithTheYellowHat · 05/02/2013 20:43

Mmmmm to crisps in general dietcoke. Really want a massive bag if ready salted chipsticks. Tescos used to do their own version but can't ever find them now.

Kittenkatzen · 05/02/2013 22:21

Oohhhhh ready salted chipsticks...I want them NOW

frog sorry you had a rubbish day - can you maybe invest in a couple of floaty tops to wear for work? Might help for a couple of weeks at least?
