Oh jm I'm so, so sorry for your loss. I can't imagine what you're going through. Be kind to yourself. ThanksThanksThanks

andadietcoke · 05/02/2013 09:17

jemimah yep, for about 10 days, not just on and off. Ended up with a scan at the EPU because I had some pain too which I think now may have been wind but I panicked

There was no reason for the bleed on the scan - the sonographer said she thought it was probably left over from the foetuses bedding in and everything settling down. How far along are you? Mine started about 7w I think, but I'm 9w today and still had some yesterday.

jemimahpuddleduck · 05/02/2013 09:29

I am so sorry Jm how awful for you. I hope you have lots of support Thanks

I'm 8+2 andadietcoke I'm having some pain to but it may just be in my mind. Thanks for your reply it has helped knowing there is someone else who had it and has been ok.

GirlWithTheYellowHat · 05/02/2013 09:34

So sorry to hear your news jm. Unmumsnetty hugs.

I'm finding tuc biscuits are keeping me going at the moment. Salty and buttery, ate 3/4 of a packet a few days ago, in one sitting! Blush

nerual · 05/02/2013 10:07

Jemima, I had a big bleed on Thursday evening, a whole gush of bright red blood. I had a scan yesterday and still have heartbeat, although there is a small 'area of bleeding' that they can see on the scan. I haven't bled since Thursday, so hoping all ok. Was terrifying though. I think bleeding in first trimester is actually relatively common, and isn't always bad news...try not to worry too much.

jm, so sorry about your mum, what a terrible time for it to happen :(

Kittenkatzen · 05/02/2013 10:14

Hello All,
I had my booking appointment last week and now am booked in for a scan on the 21st february when ill be 12+1. Am 10 weeks tomorrow and feeling very fat especially in the evening so its all becoming a bit more real.

JM - really sorry to hear about your Mum, what a horrible time for you.

Good luck to everyone else :)

redandyellowandpinkandgreen · 05/02/2013 10:36

I'm really sorry to hear that JM.

fl0b0t · 05/02/2013 10:38

jm what awful news, really thinking of you at the moment.

Told in-laws yesterday which went well on the whole (I'm just sensitive and ill). FIL insists in calling me "mummy" even though I said I wasn't comfortable with that at least until end of 1st trimester. SIL told me that when she had ms, she found that she felt worse "wallowing at home" so went to work instead. Which sounds lovely, if you're well enough to leave the house. ( grumps grumps grumps ). On the whole it was fine, telling my parents tonight, and I've got my cheeky early private scan later. Very excited but quite nervous about going out today- I've got to get a train to meet my husband at the scan centre, and last time I got a train it was Very Bad (tm). Will be getting some exercise too though which will be good- I've gone from 7-9hrs exercise a week to... 20minutes!

Eeeknumber3 · 05/02/2013 11:00

Oh jm what a horrible time for you, take care of yourself. Do you have siblings, can you help each other? So so sorry x
I had a private scan yesterday, was 7 weeks yesterday, she couldn't get clear pic so used dildo cam...I have no shame, so just wanted her to get a clearer picture. Was amazing and she showed me the heartbeat...it was lovely. She made me laugh actually, asked me if my littlest child had just gone to school, said yes DC 2 went in September and she told me she sees lots of ladies on number 3 who have just lost their last baby to school! Obviously I am very typical!

loubeebaby · 05/02/2013 11:31

Big Hugs JM. So sorry to hear that. Try to be as strong as you can xx

Eeeknumber3 · 05/02/2013 11:59

I thought something was very wrong as she looked concerned and I was beginning to be that sick feeling during the scan. Eventually, I plucked up the courage to ask if everything was ok, and she said 'erm, no not really, I check for ovarian cysts and I can't find your right ovary anywhere'. I had neglected to tell the poor lady I had a complete oopherectomy, tube and all, on the right side about 10 years ago due to massive dermis cyst...oops, poor woman...

Eeeknumber3 · 05/02/2013 12:00

**Dermoid cyst

Wincher · 05/02/2013 12:51

So sorry jm, how absolutely awful for you.

TripleRock · 05/02/2013 13:01

I had that Jemima, lasted for about 48 hours and never came to anything. I had an early scan and all was well. It was when I was about 7 weeks, how far along are you?

TripleRock · 05/02/2013 13:06

And I'm so sorry JM Sad

Creamtea1 · 05/02/2013 13:14

Ladies can we do a weight/food check. Am 10 weeks on thurs and have put on 4lbs (bad?) my problem is that unless I eat very regularly it makes the nausea worse. I have tried cutting down on eating but I just end up feeling horrendous. It's like I am so hungry it makes me feel sick. For about 1 hour after a meal I feel ok, then it starts again. And only carby things seem to help. This is today's food so far:
Mini shredded wheat for breakfast
1 slice whole meal toast and marmite snack
Cheese and ham sandwich on whole meal lunch
Activia yoghurt

Will try and last till 3pm then will have grapes. At 5 pm will have to have another slice toast. Dinner will be around 8pm and will be homemade cottage pie (massive portion!)

It's like my appetite has gone into overdrive - this is totally wierd to me as pre preg I was a big follower of intermittent fasting and often skipped meals etc or went long periods without eating, with no problems.

Eeeknumber3 · 05/02/2013 13:33

I have lost weight creamtea, but think that is due to cutting out the vino, was drinking too much I feel. Think you're doing ok on the eating, I have to eat regularly too, as I'm just blinkin starvating! Today I have eaten:
Mini fruit shreddies
2 slices toast with lemon curd
Half a tuna sandwich leftover
Half a cheese sandwich and bag of low fat crisps
Big bowl of pineapple
Now on an apricot eat natural bar
Then will eat big plate of beef stew from slow cooker and mash!

Creamtea1 · 05/02/2013 13:50

Thanks eek makes me feel a bit better as it looks like we have a pretty identical daily intake there, and if youve lost weight it must be ok for preg purposes! And mmm on the lemon curd :) that's going on tomorrows list

Apologies to all the people who can't read the food postings, just skip through these!

batfuttocks · 05/02/2013 13:58

Jm, so sorry to hear your news. Take care of yourself, your baby will be fine despite all the upset. Hope you are getting lots of love and support.

A few people were doing a weight/ food check. I am apparently unchanged ( go up and down by 2 lbs all the time and am still there). That said, I've gone from intermittent fasting Briffa type diet to no exercise and carb eating to survive ms. I reckon I have lost muscle so have probably gained in size but not weight. In my experience I am better in the second and third trimesters so just trying to go with the flow: I know how to sort it out afterwards if I get in a mess. Bye bye carbs and hello running!

Today I've eaten:
Rich tea biscuit on waking
Weetabix with hot milk and banana
Bagel with Philly mid morning at work
Handful dried prunes( medicinal!) and one thorntons choc at work
Prawn mayo Sarnie ( sainsburys pack) and fresh mango for late lunch

Dinner will be a couple of pancakes I imagine!

PurplePoppySeed · 05/02/2013 14:01

Wow new thred is huge already!

Jm so sorry to hear your news, look after yourself, such a terrible thing to happen any time, I hope your dp is looking after you. Does the rest of your family know you are pg?

I've found my weight is going up and down lots, on the whole it seems to come back to the same as I started, but at times ive been 6lb heavier. I think I'll only worry if I'm visibly getting bigger anywhere other than boobs and belly!

batfuttocks · 05/02/2013 14:04

I am 10+4,by the way. I find I eat loads until mid afternoon then a little dinner, otherwise I am too full to sleep

Creamtea1 · 05/02/2013 14:16

Pancake panic - is it pancake today or next tues?

batfuttocks same here re fasting/exercise/low carb to zero exercise mega carb...I can get away with the 4lbs but I feel like I am bigger size wise than that suggests. Anyway as you say, I know how to sort it afterwards when I'm not feeling so bleurgh and tired.
(although disclaimer would rather not have to diet for 8 months all over again!)

Starfishkiss · 05/02/2013 14:30

Hiya again everyone, these threads move so fast I can't keep up!
Just wanted to share my amazing morning seeing my new little one for the first time! - I know you lot will share my excitement much more than RL!
I had my 12 wk scan at 9am this morning, and saw my teeny tiny little baby kicking around! I saw its little face, it's little arms and legs, and it's little flickery heart, it was magical, I can't believe I am instantly so in love with something! I couldn't speak for about 2 mins when she first turned the screen around, I just couldn't believe it and very nearly almost broke down in tears of joy!
As its my second I didn't think I was going to react so strongly, so it all came as quite a lovely surprise!
The best bit is that it turns out my dates are slightly off and I'm actually only 10 weeks, so I have to come back for another scan in 2 weeks! Grin Can't wait to see him/her again!!
It makes all the cramping, the sickness and the headaches worthwhile doesn't it!
