Blankets, don't worry, I'm the same, 10+6 and no symptoms at all. Only had two pink lines and no periods to make me think anything is happening. It's very odd isn't it. I told my mum and dad last night, but in a very 'we don't know yet but we think we are' way, and they didn't know whether to get excited or not! My scan is at 12+5 which seems so far to wait although only 13 days now! Just. want. to. tell. people.
Telling my sis on Thurs.
Still going to keep trying with the doppler at work! Oh it's a tedious waiting game isn't it?! When does the fun bit start? Don't feel particularly bonded yet to anything as not sure if anything is there!!!

Blanketsandpillows · 16/02/2013 11:13

Thank you! I know I am being silly. amiready-if I hadn't taken a picture of the two pink lines I would doubt that I'd even had those! We have told our parents and siblings-all are cautiously excited. DH is not allowing himself get excited at all until after Tuesday and I think that's making me more worried! I can't wait to tell people either! I think a few have guessed though but everyone is very polite and not pressurising me to saying it. Ooh I hope we are all OK.

MeanMrsMustard · 16/02/2013 11:28

Blankets - I've got my scan on the same day as you. I'll be 13+2. I have had some symptoms, but nothing solid, so am easily able to convince myself theyre coincidental or psychosomatic. It's normal to worry. At least we'll know soon...

juniper904 · 16/02/2013 11:28

I had my private scan last night- definitely a little blob in their with a heart beat! Sonographer says I'm 7+1 not 8+5, but don't know what to believe. If I'm 7+1, then my cycle is 50 days long...? (I came off the pill in December so only had one period mid December). Also, my clear blue test showed 2-3 weeks give matches my dates, whereas I would have far less if I'm 7+1.

Baby looks healthy and happy so it's not a big deal, although I don't know what to do about my midlife appointments. For my booking in, I'm either 8+5 or 10+2, for the down's blood work I'm either 9 or 10+4 and for my nuchal scan I'm either 10+4 or 12+1! I think my booking in will be fine either, but the nuchal scan will have to move.

She also added the bonus card by saying my baby might have a growth spurt and catch up. So so confused now (as I'm sure you are too, with all of those dates!)

Peabody25 · 16/02/2013 12:22

Got the date through for my 12 week scan today! Not till 19th March, so I'll be 13w 5d by the time it comes around. I'm thinking of ringing up to change it as I was hoping it'd be much sooner than that!

It's my first baby so really nervous, and having another 4 1/2 weeks till I know/hope everything's okay, won't help! Am I best being honest with them when I ring up and saying I'm really nervous etc and having to wait so long won't help, or lie slightly and say making that day will be tricky, and have they got anything sooner? I'm presuming it'd have to be sooner to fit in all tests etc they need to do?

Readytosettle · 16/02/2013 12:28

Hello Ladies, I'm back from my hols & looking forward to a weekend of jet lag!

So much to catch up on, so I'm only halfway through all the posts. Can definitely recommend 2 weeks in the sun at this stage in the game. 1) pg symptoms weren't nearly as bad as I spent most days sitting around reading (in the pool to avoid over-heating) 2) I've fast forwarded to 8+4 :-)

I did have one day in bed, but I'm putting that down to an early morning dolphin watching boat trip reducing me to an irreversible state of nausea! I also had a couple of dizzy/raging spells when we were pounding the streets looking for restaurants in the eve's. But husband was fairly understanding & we learnt to stop for tapas & a drink as soon as I started feeling remotely off!

Excitingly I have my booking in on tues & hubby has agreed to a private scan which is booked for weds evening....he's even more keen now I've shared the stats that someone else did on here that suggests 98% chance of healthy pg if all looks good at this stage. Cue excited 'Does that mean I can tell my mum?'. Bless.

fl0b0t · 16/02/2013 12:45

juniper that is confusing! At my early scan I was 7+1 by my dates and 7+2 by hers- so I was very happy with that- can't stand any more confusion than there already is with pregnancy!

WB Ready- I'm so jealous of your two weeks in the sun and coming out 8+4- I've had two weeks on the sofa to get there!!

Early scan was great- ours was at 7, but knowI know the stats (I think it was more like 80% likely to go to full term when you see heartbeat at 7 weeks (or something)) it does help you feel more positive!

We told a few more friends last night which has really eased some of the pressure I was feeling about lying about mystery sickness that had me signed off work for 3 weeks (and counting). They were all great and lovely so we're feeling relieved. Ideally we'd wait, but it's so hard when the last time I went to the pub (a weekly thing we do with friends) was about 6 weeks ago!

Today my main aim today is to make a lemon merangue pie (a la Great British Bake Off Comic Relief episode- I don't normally watch this, but got hooked on this episode). LEts hope it comes out more Ed Burns than Claudia Winkleman.......

Hope everyone is well- I've mostly skipped talk of food as I'm still not really up to it!!

EmmaDee · 16/02/2013 12:57

Got my boking appointment at last!! Its the 27th Feb so not long to wait now! I'll be 10 + 3 then, so I assume it must be different in Northern Ireland if all you English people have to wait til 12 weeks! Although it says that I might have a scan??! Might!! I want one and thats it!!

fl0b0t · 16/02/2013 13:10

Haha Emma- in England you get a Booking in Appt with midwife (which is either at your local surgery or hosp) at 8-10 weeks and then a scan by 12.

I've got so much paperwork and info to read from my booking in this week- need to find the energy to attack it all!

It was also hard explaining to the midwife that I'd been off sick for three weeks so me and the internet had got very well acquainted! I.e I've been reading the NHS website inside out for week.....

EmmaDee · 16/02/2013 14:17

fl0b0t it says on my letter its a 2hr appointment, does it take that long just to book in?

I'm fairly confused about all this, my hubby works for himself and I dont want him taking a day off work if there's gonna be no scan!

Readytosettle · 16/02/2013 14:19

Right, finally caught up so just thought I'd add my 2p:

Massage- had 4 full body massages, 3 scrubs & 1 facial whilst on hols....can't see any reason this would be a prob, nothing too hard so what harm could it do?

Drinks- tried to stick to a few swigs of hubby's, but did treat myself to a cocktail on my b'day!

Telling work- got to entertain a client with my boss on Thursday night so will have to fess up before then (part of the rationale for the early scan on Wednesday)

Names- we're not discussing, prob will raise it after the 12 weeks tho.

Food- I ate eggs on hols, mostly cooked through but did get a fried egg that was a bit runny one day so I decided to avoid the runny bits- hope that will be sufficient! Cravings have been out of the question due to funny foreign food so it's just been about what I could manage at the time....I have an urgent need for beans on toast today tho & hubby has been dispatched to the shops.

Facebook- I've disabled my wall & upped my privacy settings, only my ma & pa know at the mo and they're fully clued up on how sensitive this is (we haven't told MIL) so I don't think it'll be an issue, but good to know that we're secure when word does start to get out!

fl0b0t · 16/02/2013 14:33

emma Mine took about an hour including bloods. I'd give them a call tbh- they'll be able to tell you whether they'll do a scan or not, though I'd imagine unlikely at 10 weeks?

CharlW1 · 16/02/2013 15:55

Had a letter back from the hospital today saying I had low platelets and have to go back in the next 4 week's to get the bloods re done. Trying to avoid Google to see what this means so any ideas?

Rosyisgonnabeamummy · 16/02/2013 17:22

Very important question - can you have eyebrows tinted?

Rosyisgonnabeamummy · 16/02/2013 17:32

Charl - I've had a look in the medical textbooks I have. Platelets are for clotting, so you need to watch out for signs of bleeding - ie gums, poo. But to reassure you several studies have shown that low platelets does not effect mother or baby, and returns to normal after birth. All woman have a drop in platelets during pregnancy apparently - thus the bleeding gums thing is a common side effect to pregnancy.
The important thing is that the hospital have picked up on it, and are monitoring it. And tbh if they are waiting 4 w to call you back it can't be that bad!! Wink
If you are able to see your gp mean while and ask if your folate was down as well as folate and b12 deficiency are also a contributing factor.
I am sure that things will be fine. Thanks

CharlW1 · 16/02/2013 18:02

Thanks Rosy - that's definitely put my mind at rest. I did think the same as well, if they are waiting 4 weeks to take my bloods again then it can't be too bad.

Definitely interested in your question about eyebrow tinting - I have coloured my hair for the first time in 8 weeks today (used to doing it every 3). I used a non permanent one without ammonia as I read that these ones are fine :)

slowblonde · 16/02/2013 18:04

Another one joining the bus :-).
Booking appt and scan yest and bun wriggling about merrily.
DC2 and due 10th Sept - could someone add me to list.

Emma - I'm in NI too and it is diff here compared to England. Booking appt and scan done on same day usually around 10 weeks so you will def be getting a scan that day. Booking appt takes about an hour by the time you get scan, millions of q's and bloods.

10+4

JammyTummy · 16/02/2013 18:23

Can I recommend that if you have ever loved chocolate/ brownies/ chocolate sauce/ warm gooey chocolate things, go to M&S and get their Hot Bourbon Chocolate Melts! Omg omg they are amazing... Neither DH or I are big chocolate people but we didn't even look at each other once while eating... Amazing!!!

Pinkbump3 · 16/02/2013 18:35

Hello ladies Smile just tentatively popping my head in got surprise bfp this week was not expected but should have known sooner really with how sick I have been! Anyway this is no4 and yesterday/today symptoms seem to have decreased the last week I have been so bloated and nauseous but not the last two days, just sick once this morning. this afternoon Im getting a lot of not cramping pain but stretching pain I don't remember this before Confused and although it's no4 and not expected I feel quite worried that something's going wrong. Haven't seen MW yet but lmp was 3 dec so thinking I'm about 10 weeks? Anyone else got stretching pain or symptoms subsiding? I feel I should know but I don't my dds are 13, 12, &3 .

badguider · 16/02/2013 18:50

Hi Pinkbump3 Smile Congratulations!

My lmp was 5 Dec and i'm due between 8 and 11 september (would be 8th if i had normal cycles, but mine are short so may be 11th) so i guess you'll be around 6th September?

badguider · 16/02/2013 18:53

Kamikazee so sorry to hear about your foreign eggs/mc experience. Although I am eating soft boiled lion stamped eggs in this country I am going to France next week where I will NOT be eating any undercooked eggs whatsoever as I don't know what the salmonella risk is like in France but I suspect it's relatively high compared to here as they wont' have had the whole Edwina Curry thing.

andadietcoke · 16/02/2013 18:57

jammy ohhh, I want. Which bit of M&S do they live in? Might get some for me as a welcome home treat for DH for Monday.

pinkbump I'm in agony today. 10+1 and have done four hours of driving - think it's round ligament pain - it's all in my groin/bikini line. Welcome though!!

JammyTummy · 16/02/2013 19:00

They're in the desert fridge... Waiting.

I'm so full. My tummy looks like I've stuffed a watermelon into it! Have a party to go to in half an hour- must look normal!
