Had fab day went back to my home town of Brum: Visited family all of which were shocked by my expansion since March (suprise, surprise!!)Then went on an ace shopping spree with all family offering to buy baby stuff!!! Grin
H&M have really great retro style baby stuff and mat clothes in the sale too!!

Cashed in all my vouchers/points at boots too (join parenting club now if you haven't) My shopping came to £52 and I paid about £7!!!!

Paying for it all now though my ank;e have swollen so much from all the walking feels like the skin is really tight!! and generally exhausted! Sad

Hi everyone.
Painted my new room in my mums house today... DP wants to be moved in by friday, but i havent even started packing yet!
Strechmarks - massive! But i dont mind really.
DP told me i will have a lot of exersize to do after the baby is born...so sensitive!
It nearly put me off my mini roll...nearly!
Is anyone having really strange feelings in their ribs??
I love being this PG, i've never managed it before, only got to 8/9 weeks so this is great!
Being big really makes it real for me. But now no-one will let me do anything but i want a leaving party!!
Anyway better go night ladies x

deblaca · 06/05/2006 23:00

kayzed - i just bought a couple of night shirts at mothercare, front opening t-shirt type - maternity so roomy and cool - not v flattering tho (in fact they put me in mind of the kind of night shirts my mum wears!) .... although I'm still aiming for a home waterbirth so should expect i'll be wearing nowt during the birth/most of the time .... but thought i should be prepared or could be handy to pad around the house in during labour

koshka - my ribs hurt or a least where my ribs used to be (I seemed to have lost my ribs, my bump now starts directly under my boobs, in fact my boobs do a nice job of resting on my bump which in turn rests on my lap when sitting, I really do look like a pregnant buddha). They hurt and in fact slightly sting mainly on the right side but I think its due to the lo pushing/stretching on that side

anyway bedtime xx

pinkdolly · 07/05/2006 07:37

Good morning girls,

Is anyone else's LO being really harsh with the kicking? Mine keeps making me jump out of my seat. Mind you my 2 girls were exactly the same. sometimes I swear I feel bruised on the inside.

Maewest, Glad you enjoyed it up in Wadebridge. Cant remember the last time I went up there. I'm a lot further down.

Well, the sun is shining already here today, so hopefully it will be nice and warm. Enjoy your day.

maewest · 07/05/2006 08:25

Lovely day here too. One load of washing out on the line already. Pinkdolly - know what you mean with the kicking, I find especially at night that I really feel poked and prodded. Also lo insists that I sit up straight, anytime I slump (e.g. over desk at work) my ribs get to know about it!

HumphreysCorner · 07/05/2006 11:09

Morning ladies

Still got my headache-DD was late to bed last night and didn't surface until 9.30am which would have been lovely if I could have slept but couldn't due to the hammering on the right hand side of my head.

I wore a Wallace & Gromit nightshirt when I went in to have DD but it was slightly on the small side by 9 months and as it was the hottest July ever the midwives took it off and put a hospital gown on-slightly cooler. They also kept filling cups with ice and water for me and got a fan-bet due to staffing restraints that it won't happen this time.

Is it just me who hasn't got leaky boobs-is it because I didn't BF last time?

Wet day today but still muggy.

Have a nice day and bye for now.

xxx

janeOT · 07/05/2006 12:01

Morning all

Horrible day here...really wet and miserable!Sad
Pinkdolly: hear you on the kicking my LO really boots me esp when i'm dropping off to sleep (or at least trying) and when Im driving but gets better when I sit up straight (maewest) so I'm driving round like I've got a borad down my back!!
Humpreys: I've not had leaky boobs either but I think alot of people dont!!

Well, found out some bad bad news today Angry my due date is the world cup final!! Dont know how Ive not realised that sooner!! So praying I'm not one of the 2% that has LO on their due date!!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend all!
p.s: 4 week left at work!!

Had first leaky boob incident last week - noticed two little spots in strategic places on my nightshirt when I got up. Dh strangely fascinated! After sunny day it has suddenly got very dark and started raining. Spent the afternoon reading through applications for my mat cover - v strange sensation. We're shortlisting tomorrow and then interviewing on Friday (that'll be a looong day). Have mw appt tomorrow where I'll be having first anti-D jab. Anybody else rhesus neg?

Oh & HC - how do you know they are hiccups (sorry if that question sounds dense - first timer!)

bumpybel · 07/05/2006 19:56

Evening girls...

Bit of an emotional day today... my uncle died this morning ringing his local church bells. My parents were trying to appear okay and looking on the positives of how happy he was, I think not to worry me, but I know my dad is really upset, which is awful to see and upsetting in itself. Feel so sorry for my cousins and anxious that feeling too down about it wont do my bump any good. I also know that I will definitely be going to the funeral to support my cousins, but know that it'll be really upsetting... Please someone reassure me that a bit of a wail isnt going to turn my baby into a depressed child later in life.. not seeing midwife for about two weeks.

Have been busying myself putting up Jungle curtains today and they look cute. The weekends go sooo quickly. Really envious of all you lot finishing work within the next few weeks. I am maybe stupidly going to attempt to go up to two weeks before, although my boss has said I can reduce my hours and not my pay, as time goes on, which is nice.

HC hope the headaches have eased off a bit... have you got a cool eye mask you can put on or anything?

Koshka.... Have had pain in upper ribs, just below bra for ages, that midwife put down towards a mixture of heartburn and the baby being breech and headbutting me! Havent felt any really painful kicks yet... just big movements as whichever bodypart it is changes position!!! Should I be feeling any pain from kicks, or have I just got a considerate baby?!!! Mine does seem to like squeezing my bladder though!

Straightforward · 07/05/2006 20:33

Sorry to read your news bumpy SadSounds like a good way to go, but I guess that's not much consolation for you right now.

Don't worry about your sad feelings affecting your baby. AFAIK, it's only when a pg mother is very anxious all the way through pregnancy that there is a risk of baby being affected. Better to go and blub your heart out than to keep it all bottled up anyway.

I'm coming to the end of a glorious weekend off - DH has taken DD up to Rotherham to see his dad. It's only the 2nd time I've been away from DD for more than 1 night. I've missed them like crazy but feel like I've had a holiday too! Funny thing is, after being desperate for some child-free time for ages, I just was so undecided about whether to rest, party hard or do stuff round the house I've been meaning to do for ages, I just couldn't settle for ages! (Did a bit of all of those, btw Smile)

Well, it's the last time I'll have some peace for a while anyway - DH is collecting FIL who is coming to live down here in Worthing. That wouldn't be too bad, but the flat buy hasn't completed yet, so he's living with us in the meantime. Praying that's just going to be a week or so...

Jane - whereabouts do you come from in Brum? I was brought up in Sutton Coldfield.

HC - my boobs aren't leaky either, and I bfed for over a year. Seem to remember I only had one slight damp patch incident last pg too.

Hi all,

Started a pregnany yoga class yesterday, was quite good - the stretches really helped the lower back pain.
Had really awful heartburn last night tho - had over induldged at a freinds BBQ so my own fault really - had to sleep half sitting up!!

Sorry about your bad news, Bumpbel :(

Sorry to hear your news bumpybel-will be thinking of you at this sad time. Please don't worry about your baby. ((xx))

Clara1 · 07/05/2006 23:19

Oh no - reading all these messages has sent me into a tail spin. Seem to be in total denial and have done NOTHING to get ready for this baby's arrival. Existing buggy is on its last legs, no car seat or moses basket and have done absolutely nothing about sorting through old clothes and salvaging what can be used again. But I am now prompted into action and is top of my list of jobs for the week.
Have been having bad time with urine infections and on yet another course of antibiotics. Now worried that what I thought were just pains of everything getting bigger are in fact pains of infection and paranoid that this will harm the baby. Anyone else had similar problems?

Hi

I have not had any urine tests since the initial one when I went in to tell them I was pregnant.
I have had blood tests, and was told everything was fine. But am concerned there are tests that should have been done and have been missed not having any further urine tests. What do you think? Should I call my GP / midwife?

pinkdolly · 08/05/2006 09:14

Oh Bumpy- Sorry to hear about your bad news. You go and have a good cry, the others are right baby will be fine.

Clara- Other than a pushchair, I haven't got much sorted yet either. Bit on the slow side this pg. Dont worry about it, you'll sort it all out.

Re- leaky boobs. Mine too have been leaking, I notice it mainly when I pick my dd2 up, dont know why, just happens. My boobs feel huge and very weighty.

Well, I have a big headache today and am feeling ill, think I got this bug that is doing the rounds. So i'll be off, everyone else have a nice day.

IamBlossom · 08/05/2006 09:24

Morning Ladies.

Nixnoo - I would call your midwife and ask - I have been asked for a urine sample at every appt so far.

HC - headaches sound rotten, poor you, cool face mask thingy sounds like a good suggestion, are you drinking loads of water?

Bumpbel - so sorry to hear about your Uncle, agree with SF that it sounds like a good way to go, doing something so wonderful that he enjoyed. Must have been a shock to you all though, sending all my best wishes, don't worry about bubs.

Deblaca, LOL at wondering where your ribs have gone, I actually put my hand on myself to see if I could feel mine after reading that, and you're right they have disappeared! We are clearly being held together by one enormous bumpage, how funny.

For some unknown and very annoying reason my boss has decided that I need to have a forecast review for the rest of this year tomorrow for an hour and a half - quite why when I am leaving in 3 weeks never to return is beyond me and I am very cross that I am not going to be able to quielty slope off from work unscathed. I suspect it is because they have yet to find my replacement (tyoical, even though they have known I'm preggers since Xmas) and are scared they will have no insight into my deals or accounts when I am gone, but I am doing a handover document and to be quite honest it's not my bloody problem! Cross that I'm getting so stressed about it and having to prepare for the meeting (and actually do some real work!)

Had a good but KNACKERING day shopping on Saturday, spent a fortune, but I think we now have everything we need for the new baby apart from the sundry stuff like nappies and that kind of thing. Still need to sort all cothes out and things, but waiting until i have finished work for that.

Raining here, sunshine gone. DS has a cough so woke us all up at 5.30am.......sigh....

Have a good day everyone!

Blossom

Hi everyone,

Take care bumpy, we're all thinkin' bout you.

Straightforward - I live in Rotherham, well used to do, now live near Rotherham, but work at Rotherham Hospital, it was nice to hear it being mentioned, sometimes it seems such a small place, you think no-one else knows it exists!!

I've got nothing for baby either, well very little, so I've made a list of absolutely everything (basically went through Mothercare book and wrote everything down and then decided if we would need one), and we're going to go on a massive shopping day and get everything all at once, hopefully Mothercare will have some offer days coming up Wink

I do feel very 'homey' at the mo and always want to be sorting things out and clearing stuff and generally nesting, DH daren't sit down for too long in case he gets moved and put in a cupboard!!

Not like me to be so picky about stuff, also turned into a bit of a Dettol-monster too, trying to clean house to within an inch of it's life before baby comes, and also before I get too big to move - and blimey, that can't be far away, sometimes I feel as though I'm visable from space - LOL!!

Booked my Antinatal classes today, start 22nd June for 4 weeks, midwife crap, so better doing it myself - midwife came last Saturday, was 50 mins late, never phoned, never apologised - what a moose!! DH ended up phoning her to ask if she was actually coming - useless.

Hope everyone well today

TTFN Grin

Straightforward · 08/05/2006 10:36

Morning girls Grin

Clara - I too panicked when people were talking about washing their LO's clothes etc. I know I'm getting loads of the essentials from my friend (who had them off me in the first place!!) but there's really plenty of time. Just think - if you went into labour tomorrow (let's hope not...) the only real essentials would be a packet of nappies and some clothes for baby. Really, they can sleep in your bed for a few nights if necessary! I suppose if you're planning to bottle feed you might need more stuff, but my mum kept saying to me during my first pg (when I was a one woman spending machine) 'the shops won't suddenly close when the baby's born you know' - hate to admit it, but she was right on that one Smile

Re tests - I've had my urine tested every appt so far and I thought that was standard. They gave me a little sample bottle at my booking in appt for the purpose of bringing some wee every time. Last appt (28 weeks) they took some more blood too. Actually, it was a student mw and she made a pig's ear of it so now I've got a massive bruise on my left arm. I got a note through the door on Sat asking me to go to Pathology at the hospital and have it done again though - think they've lost the original sample Angry. Ah well, at least I'll have matching junkie-a-like arms!!
