If it makes anyone feel better about the size of their bumps, ALL the medical research suggests that big babies are healthier, both when they are babies and in the long run. Be proud of your big tummy. Mine is huge, by the way, as it was last time. When I had DD, by C-section, the obstetrician told me that I had a placenta 'to die for', at 1kg.

Evening ladies

Had an E-Mail from Mothercare saying Baby Jungle wallpaper will be in stock in 2-3 weeks-they said that 2 weeks ago so sadly we can't wait that long. Going to have to find something else. Only picked Baby Jungle 'cos it had matching wallpaper-with HumphreysCorner we had to search for something to match the border. This time we haven't even got a border. Ho hum!

Wallace-good luck with your scan tomorrow. I'm sure all will be fine.

Annie-lol at your future skiving! Hope the flat works out-brave woman having a baby then moving house.

At work they were turning up the radiators so I'm pleased I wore sandals and no tights. I will spontaneously combust one of these days.

The girl at work due 1st June has had customers buying gifts. The customers haven't even mentioned about me being PG so either I just look fat or ??????????. Come to think of it I didn't get any gifts when I had DD but at least the customers asked how I was. One could get a complex.

Off to swig Gaviscon and prepare tea. Hope everyone is OK.

Byee for now

Morning everyone.

Well apparently my snoring has reached new heights, according to a grumpy Dh this morning. It sounds like I am in a heavy breathing competition, he tells me, and seemed disinterested in my lecture on increased mucous creation and faster heartrates in pregnancy. I did try and point out that I am asleep and can't help it, but that didn't seem to carry much weight either. He may have to sleep in the spare room, but he doesn't want to and I don't want him to, as we have managed to always avoid that, even in the early days of DS. My final suggestion was for him to prod me when I am doing it and I'll roll over or summink. Might get one of those Vicks inhaler up your nose jobs too.....I didn't have the heart to tell him that actually he woke ME up with his own snoring last night. What a pair.

In a fit of domesticity yesterday afternoon I attempted a fish pie for tea - main upshot being we now know why DH does the cooking! Tasted ok, but what's all this "reducing the fish cream to half it's volume" nonsense? DIdn't have time for all that palava, so ended up with a very soggy fish concoction with mashed potatoe sinking into it. More like fish soup than fish pie. Oh well, I'll have another go, perhaps trying Jamie Oliver recipe next time, rather than poncy Gordon Ramsey, who lets face it swears too much and is a footballer.

Tried to go swimming yesterday but the pool was closed, so I shall try again today - before my pedicure at 1pm! Bliss! Toenails need some serious attention. As you can see I am working as hard as ever.

Anyone else got a 28 week check with the midwife?

Good luck Wallace, come on here asap and let us know how it went.

Have a great day every body.

Morning all you lovely ladiesSmile

What a beautiful morning it is here in London! Summer clothes are definately out and being used. Love it!
DD's nursery is shut tomorrow due to election and as it is supposed to be even warmer then we have planned a picnic in the park with a group of friends. How nice.

Feeling a bit run down at the moment. Not sleeping the best and back ache is bothering me. Had a pregnancy massage last Friday which was LOVELY! But didn't really improve on the bach pain.
Also having a bundle of Braxton Hicks. Comes with nothing - such as getting out of the car; standing up from the sofa/bed etc. Not painful at all just aware of them.

Am going to the premature clinic for what will most likely be the last time this pm. If cervix length pretty stable then likely to go almost full term. Shall be very interesting. Not sure going full full term will be soo nice with this baby on the 97th percentileShock
Very happy that it has stayed in this long though!!

Hope everyone is well.
Love and hugs from
DangirlSmile

Hi guys

9 sheets of loo roll today - so I really did count wrong last time.

Feeling very organised today (a great feat for me!!) as I have organised a place on an antenatal 'refresher' evening done by the same brilliant midwife as I had first time, arranged a hospital tour and fixed up an initial meeting with a woman who does hypnotherapy for birth stuff.

Can't remember who was asking about where to buy stuff, but wanted to pick up a couple of points on that - first, get as much as poss off Ebay, from charity shops or borrow off friends etc if you can - they sooooo fleece new parents at these places with things you 'must' have, and aim to induce a panic buy every time you go in. Second, you mentioned a basket of toiletries - from my experience and that of a load of my friends and MNers on a recent thread, you almost never use most of them and they are a waste of space and money. New babies don't need baby bath or oil and definitely no talc (it's positively dangerous) - a squidge of lotion occasionally is about all they need. My advice is to save your money until you know exactly what you need (i.e. not what they tell you you will need).

Koshka - I too feel a bit left out on the nursery speak, as we won't have one either. Babies sleep in the parents bedroom for the first six months generally anyway, then this one will be shunted into the office at night. We had DD in a tiny one-bedroomed flat until she was 10 months, and I can report we're still sane! I console myself by thinking about the fact that we don't need to decorate anyway!

Felt good this morning in a new top - then was told by 2 different people I was "huge" in the space of about 10 mins Shock! Think I will be the size of a house by July...

Morning everyone (just about)

Agree with you Straightforward, you won't need half the stuff they tell you to buy, just wait til baby comes and then you can buy on an as-you-need-it basis.

No nursery for us either, still in a one-bed flat with DS in the cot in our room (though more often in the bed or on the floor in our room!). IF/when we move in August (BAAAAAD timing I know HC) there'll be an extra room but will he sleep on his own there? Baby will definitely be in with us especially if breastfeeding for around 6 months.

Lovely lovely lovely weather!!! Feels like holidays...

Good luck at the clinic Dangirl, fingers crossed for you . Wallace, how was that scan???

Hey, thanks Straightforward nice to know its not just me!
I've got my mum and the blokes clearing out my new room at the moment, as everything is "too heavy" for me... he he he i love it!
Love being spoilt by my family, just need to learn to keep hormones in check and not be too moody and tired!
A lovely day up north here so i might go for a waddle later.

Scan was brilliant :) Everything looks fine, and we got a really good look at the baby. She had an extra close look at the heart, and all looks perfect, and she will also show the video to the consultant to double check, but she is very confident that there is no problem with the heart (apart from she said they can never really rule out tiny holes)
That was the first scan dh has been to and he was chuffed. This scan was so much better than the first anomaly one I had, as she pointed things out as she went along, and there was a screen right beside my head so I could see so clearly.

Baby is breech at the moment, but that is nothing to worry about. We got a lovely picture of it's profile with its hands in front of its mouth. Couldn't see whether it was a boy or girl, but I'm wondering that the fact we couldn't anything see means that it is a girl.

Hi girls,

Hope your'e all keeping well.

Am having a lazy afternoon as physio made me work really hard in the hydro pool this morning. God it hurts!

Had HV around to introduce herself this afternoon, she is really nice. Though it's all formality as been there and done that with my other two.

Iamblossam - I have my 28 week check with midwife tomorrow at 3:45. She threatened to take my blood last time (wants to do an iron test). So I am not really looking forward to it.

Baby has been hyper over the last few weeks, I have really been enjoying it. Although sometimes I feel the kicks are unnecesarily hard.

The girls ask me everyday when is baby coming? It's quite sweet, they are both soo excited.
DH found a home video with them on when they were younger. Spent ages watching it, laughing and crying. They are only nearly 4 and nearly 3 but it seems such a long time since they were babies.
I watched them trying to walk and not being able to talk, it's so sweet, cant wait to do it all again.

Big hugs to everyone.

thanks kayzed you just reminded me to take my pregnacare
bloss - i had a 28week check a couple of weeks back but with the consultant instead of m/w, when they took my blood for fbc (actually must ring them to find out results assuming that it's ok since i've not heard anything)
dangirl - pregnancy massage sounds lovely, where was it, north london way by any chance????

well ladies- what a fabulous day - hope you're all well and happy

i'm generally feeling great but can empathise with those suffering from lack of sleep ...... and my little gymnast has decided to try out some new moves, stretching/kicking right up to the top of my uterus, you can see the limb pushing the bump right out where my ribs used to be - and it hurts, the little monkey is bruising me ....
take care

Hi Ladies, haven't been on for a while. Hope you and your bumps are all well!

Koshka and SF- I'm also with you two in having no space for LO. Living with PIL at the moment Sad so we'll be trying to squash a cot and all else in here with us for the moment!

Haven't bought anything yet and am starting to feel I need to get organised. (29+2) All my baby stuff from DS is currently in transit between here and Australia and is supposedly due here at the end of the month. Fingers crossed there's no delays!! Just need to get a cot as we sold DSs when we moved over, and am in a dilemma about what to do re pram. Not sure what I'll need in terms of LO and DS who will be 2.9 when LO arrives. Currently have a Maclaren suitable from birth although I only used it with DS since 9 months so not too sure how good it would be for a newborn. Doesn't sort of seem 'sturdy' enough in some ways as had a more traditional type of pram (borrowed from SIL) for DS. Has anyone used one from birth? I'd love to hear how you found it.

Enjoying the warmer weather at the moment. Lets hope we get lots more Smile

Hi all,
New(ish) to Mumsnet, only just seen this thread. I am due on 10th July - first baby and 33years old. Very excited!
Went to my first "parent craft" class today and it was awful.... wish I could afford private lessons!

No stretch marks on my belly - yet - have some on my boobs tho, how are you all doing with the dreaded stretch marks?

Evening waddlers!

Blossom.. lol at your snoring like goat and fish soup accounts!!! I couldnt dream of being able to lie on my back at the moment, it makes me feel about 100 years old.

Wallace glad all ok with your scan and dangirl, hope everythings ok with you.

I went to my tae bo class tonight and took it very gently.. so much so that I didnt really do much, but it was nice to move about a bit. One of the girls told me i didnt look preg from the back, which has totally made my day! My thighs are huge and at the front I look enormous, but will make a real effort to show my back more now!!!!

Have got parent craft classes starting tomorrow at the hospital. DH has agreed to come with me provided he doesnt have to 'sit on a bean bag and do all that breathing shit'!!!

HC why dont you just get the jungle stickers instead of border? You could kind of make them look like a border.. ish! You get about 25 stickers for a tenner.. and i'm hoping two packs will be enough for my little nursery!! I washed all my littel outfts last night and then stunned dh by ironing them! I never iron, so i must be becoming more maternal!!!

Kayzed.. nice to hear you have put on some weight at last you skinny minny!!!

Night all...
Off to flick between channels... the apprentice and the beverley allitt docu drama thing!

Evening ladies

App went well todaySmile Cervix still a good length at 30 mm so stable. No predicted birth for at least another 5 weeks if not more. Am now 30+4. So I am in very safe territorySmile

Deblaca. Massage was in Chiswick, so probably a bit of a drive for you. But they do them all over the place. I googled "pregnancy massage" with postcode and several came up. Do try to find somewhere with a proper cushion/table as much better than just lying on your side!

So far so good and no stretch marks for me. Keeping my fingers x-ed!!!!
Have gained about 9 kg which doesn't sound too bad but I feel huge though!! Eating loads!!! Good and bad things... why oh why does chocholate have to be fattening?Sad

Take care all.

Hugs from Dangirl
