Nix - I think it's 36 weeks onwards for raspberry leaf tea. Am sure you could google or search threads here to check!

IamBlossom · 25/05/2006 09:52

Morning everyone.

Koshka, so so sorry to hear about your pusskins, we had a similar experience once with one of ours and it is very upsetting, they are so part of the family.

Twirl, what a nightmare you have had! Hope you don't suffer with that till the end now.

hada panic attack in the night about how little I seem to be prepared. I was planning down to the last detail not only my hospital bag but the bag I should have on standby for DS if we have to drop him at friends when I go into labour and what it should have in it, and should that be dependent on the time of day, and then that got me all worried about him seeing me in pain, and would he be ok without either of us there, etcetcetcetc....

Silly really, and I've got bags of time yet.

Anyhoo, better finish my handover document, DS has a hacking cough so might go and get him early from nursery today.
Bloss.

Morning ladies

koshka-so sorry to hear about your puddytat-being a cat lover myself and having found my last cat at the side of the road I understand how you are feeling. Don't worry about the antenatal class as they told us last time to only attend the classes we wanted to. ((xx))

Twirl-v. scary for you-hope everything has settled abit now. Take it steady. ((xx))

DD got up at 6am this morning shouting it is morning now. Put her back to bed but she got up again 1/2 hour later and flatly refused to leave our room. Am shattered and so is she. Have taken her to nursery and she cried abit when I left-she hasn't done that for ages.

Went to see the MW this morning-don't know if you remember the palava (sp?) of my blood tests in April when I had to wait hours cos they had forgotten me. Well it turns out the nurse hadn't done her job properly so they couldn't test the samples so have had to have blood taken this morning. The MW said she should have done it herself and I thought yes, why didn't you as you always did my friends bloods-I always have to see the nurse-gggrrrrhhhh. Talked to her about the SPD and she said there is nothing you can do but keep your legs together so didn't bother mentioning the belt. Going back in 2 weeks and we are going to discuss my birth plan-haven't even thought about one!

Anyway, time for a cup of tea so wishing you all a peaceful and restful day. Love and hugs and I'll catch y'all later.

xxx

Annie29 · 25/05/2006 11:13

Morning everyone

Twirl, hope you're feeling ok after your false alarm, and resting up as much as you can.
Koshka sorry to hear about your puddy.

Just had a very yawnsome meeting where everything made no sense to me, and I had no interest at all in trying to even listen. Did do some pelvic floor exercises to pass the time, and watched bump shooting across my belly...

Aha, another list!!

sex - only a distant dream... i remember doing it on my due date though with DS but he still didn't arrive til 6 days later. Both me and DH are too knackered these days.
curry -yum yum. may backfire though when in labour, if you know what I mean... how about really spicy fajitas, do they work too???
raspberry tea - what about raspberry ripple ice cream instead? no?
walking (if we can by then!!!!) - nothing else to do while waiting round in hospital really...
fresh pineapple - worth a shot
bouncing on a birthing ball - yaay!!

Well ladies, have a good day Feet up if you can!

Annie 33 weeks!!

Kayzed, with difficulty, esp as I'm trying to up my average by 3% to get a 1st and it seems to keep sliding the other way at the moment!

puddytat99 · 25/05/2006 20:59

Hi Everyone

Kosha - sorry to hear about your cat, I'd be lost without my three.

Twirl - Hope everything has calmed down for you now, take care of yourself.

Jersey - Keep going at those essays, girl. I got one back yesterday and another in the post today. Next one due 23 June. Didn't realise you're in Nottingham, snap. Are you at Queens or City? Queens for me this time.

Last day at work tomorrow, I'm sure I'll cry because of the children Sad Glad in a way because it's getting harder running around after them. Also got mw appt. Last night chatted with DH about ideas for birth plan and hope to chat with mw. Do know it's yet again another one that I haven't seen before. Think I might be going for a record of how many mws you can see during one pregnancy Grin

My bump seems to have got a bit lower over the past few days, hope that doesn't mean someone is planning on a fairly early appearence!!!!

Clara1 · 25/05/2006 22:32

Evening ladies.
Sorry to do this to you but.......rant alert!
Last couple of days have been long and tiring as yesterday some low life scum broke into my house and nicked my handbag. Bag has been found and S**T bag arrested and charged but my purse had gone and he is pleading total innocence. THing I am most peed off about is the £45 Early Learning Centre gift voucher that was in the purse and which I was planning to use to buy presents for DDs from the baby. Makes me SOOOOOO angry Angry that some drug addict (who it turns out has only been out of prison for 4 weeks) is brazen enough to walk into my home when I was there with two kids in the middle of the afternoon and take my things...... better stop now as am rapidly turning into ALf GArnet and about to start on about the "state of society today"!!! Just hope I don't get the call to give evidence in court when I have just given birth.
And another thing... just fed up with having to chase people (builders, deliveries, nanny agencies etc etc) who say they are going to be somewhere/do something on such and such a day and then never bloody well do it and don't even bother letting me know. AAAAAAAARGH!
Sorry, that really is the end of my rant but just had to get it off my chest (which is now so large that I must be visible from space!)
Good job that my blood pressure is low Grin
Have a good evening everyone.

HumphreysCorner · 25/05/2006 22:58

Clara-how utterly terrible. What a b***d Angry. No wonder you are upset. Sending lots of virtual hugs hun. ((((((((((((((((((XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

Morning

Clara can't believe someone has the nerve to do that!!! Shock. So glad our front door and side gate lock automatically. So glad you and the kids are ok...

Puddy I am in Leicester but work in Nottingham near macro.

Another wet day today. College last night really good analysis of human skeletons!!! Nearly stayed the full session but knew I would be exhausted today.

Think I will go with the bacon cob run this morning, the baby so likes bacon cobs Wink.

nixnoo · 26/05/2006 10:23

Gawd, Clara, that is awful! And to add insult to injury they probably wont even use those vouchers Angry
Still, most important thing is you and your kids are ok.

Jersey, what is a bacon cob? Blush

what a miserable day! Nothing for it but chocolate. Lots of it.

sunita123 · 26/05/2006 10:23

Morning All:

Twirl - Hope you are feeling better and got the 'REST' that you needed. So much harder when there's a toddler running around.

Koshka - Sorry to hear about your cat.Sad

Clara - Such a horrible thing to happen. Hope they didn't take much else, Credit cards etc. They can take quite a long time to replace aswell.

Kayzed - Good to hear that your DS is doing so well. It took me ages to get mine trained, He's only just got the hang of it. This is after months of trying. Still wears nappies at night though.

agalch - Hope your baby turns soon. (I've been reading your thread). Mine has been lying transverse all this time. I'm sure it's moved, but seem to think it's breech ATM. Not sure which is better.

Anyway, was out in the front garden yesterday weeding. When one of the neighbours walked past with her DD. The little girl looked about 3.
Little girl pipes up says "Hello". to which I say a polite "Hi" back. She proceeds to ask me...
"Why do you keep wearing the same dress?" (I have two that look the same, and very few dresses I can fit into, so have to wash and wear what I can SadBlush). Her mum was mortified! Apologised for her DD and carried on walking. Am just glad that they didn't stop to chat for longer, God knows what she might have asked next!!! Puddytat - Do you get any awkward questions?

Off now - Shopping to see if I can buy something cheap that fits.

entropy · 26/05/2006 10:34

Hi everyone

sorry ive not posted in a while. ive been to exhausted to post by the time Ive read all the new messages! All I can manage is work and sleep... My boss keeps promising to reduce my workload but as he is never in there is no chance for a few weeks at least! My maternity cover has started but the cheeky mare phoned me up to ask me to fetch something heavy for her as she didn't want to walk across the site!! (she is a large lady, much bigger than me even now and obviously finds walking long distances quite difficult) I said NO by the way :)

but as my plan is now to go AWOL from maternity leave and move up to Yorkshire (was someone else here from Rotherham??) to be close to my family and friends I am feeling guilty about leaving work up the creek without a paddle that I pretty much working myself into the ground before I go...

koshka - so sorry to hear about your cat hugs I dread anything happening to mine

Clara - thats shocking! I hope you aren't too stressed out.

Twirl - If I ever manage to get a tenner home without spending it on marshmallows bananas and coca cola(!) I will certainly be making a taxi envelope! I never have money in the house and have no idea how I would get to hospital in an emergency.

thats all my energy used up for now. wishing you all a good stress free day

Entropy
xx

IamBlossom · 26/05/2006 10:39

Clara, you poor thing, that is scary and awful, I'd be beside myself with indignation and the THOUGHT of them being in my house while I am there, never mind when i am not. Bastard.

Kayzed, $3000k!!!!! Jeez, no wonder you are still feeling the sting of that i would be too.

Sunita, kids say the "funniest" things. I really wouldn't worry, as long as you are comfy what's the point in buying anything else?

In the office today, but consoling myself that this and next Tuesday are my last working days really, cos if they think I am doing anything next Wednesday they can think again. I just know the phone is going to keep ringing weeks after I have left but I am not going to answer it, fact. What's the point of stating a leave date if they all bloody ignore it?

really suffering from aching back and sides in bed now. I wake up at least twice a night in real discomfort and turning onto my other side is not really helping any more. I'm ok once I get up and stretch out and start moving around though. Heartburn is striking with a vengance as well.

have great weekends everyone, hope the weather cheers up!

Bloss

Straightforward · 26/05/2006 11:06

Hey girls! Did I sleep till November? What's going on with the weather?!?!

LOL at the 'latest' list (OK, so I'm a few days behind!) Here's what I think:
Sex - mmm - yes please!! Problem is that DH seems to be AWOL on his course/firefighting at work so much at the mo that I hardly recognise him when he comes in the door, let alone have time to shag him!!
Raspberry Leaf Tea - I got a tincture of this from Neal's Yard, which is much more palatable IMO. I didn't realise it was supposed to hurry things on though - just tone your uterus? HC - I find it helps if I don't think of it as 'tea', but just a raspberry drink (otherwise I want to put milk in too!)
Walking - Do lots of that anyway
Bouncing on a birthing ball - As we're such tightwads, I've been using DD's spacehopper!!
Curry - Bring it on - but will someone else please make it for me?
Fresh pineapple - did it for me last time - didn't even realise about it but had had lots for dinner and went into labour at 3.30am (on due date!) Don't know if it was coincidence, but it's a good excuse to eat yummy stuff, so who cares?!

Also, acupuncture can be used to hurry things up, apparently. Also, to turn a baby round, for those of you who are having problems with that (mine's still making its mind up and moving round lots). It was all academic to me last time, but this time around I've been having regular acupuncture since just before I got pg, so feels like less of an alien concept (I rave about it, btw)

Koshka - so sorry to hear about your cat Sad. Also, was it you who was asking about percentiles? They're basically a way of charting you against the 'average' pregnancy, so if you're at the 50th centile, you're smack on 'normal', 10th you're well below, 90th you're very big etc. It's just a guide really, but people do get very hung up on them (it's particularly easy to when you actually have the baby too, whose weight and height will be plotted in the same way). Hope this (very untechnical) explanation helps...

Annie29 · 26/05/2006 11:12

Morning girls

What a stinker of a day.
Clara, you poor thing, I hope you're ok. What a rotten thing to happen. Glad they caught the B*&%#@d, but still.
Sunita I'm sure you look lovely in your dress!! There's nothing like a comfy favourite bit of clothing. And don't worry what a 3 year old thinks, just wait til you're in labour with all your bits hanging out in front of four medical students!! Leave your dignity at home! Only kidding!! (well, actually not really)

Entropy, the cheek of your cover!! Honestly some people.

Bloss, I'm like you in bed, it's so uncomfortable, turning over. Last night I spent ten minutes on my knees resting my head on my hands, cos I just couldn't take it any more. A trip to the loo then for one drop of wee, and back into a sitting up straight position...Only seven weeks to go........

Have a good day, everyone, take it easy.

Annie 33+1 (56 rolls of bog roll)

deblaca · 26/05/2006 11:56

Straightforward (the name suits btw) you're right that rasberry leaf tea conditions not induces -= I'l lhave to check out acupuncture - is it a one off treatment or a gradual build up???
there's also acupressure points which supposedly get things going you can download a booklet about it here acupressure.rhizome.net.nz/Acupressure/introduction.aspx

annie feel exactly like you re sleep and pee (soooooo frustrating) LOL at your 56 rolls

Clara - i'm glad they got the git too and importantly that you're all ok (my flat was once broken into years ago, there was 4 of us in there at the time also Angry)

34 weeks tomorrow (couldn';t be bother to wrap toilet roll around moi) ... come on sunshine we ladies need it to cheer ourselves up

pinkdolly · 26/05/2006 11:57

Hi ladies,

Koshka- So sorry to her about your pussy cat. I have a cat too, a couple of years ago my sister rang me up saying she thought she had found him on the road. I was distraught. She brought the cat to my house and I had to try and identify him. It wasn't a very pleasent experience. This cat was the spitting image of mine, except for mine has one blob of white on his back paw and this one didn't. I was so relived when my cat came home later that day.

Clara- I have never had anything nicked so can only sympathise with you. Must have been horrible, especially when you were in the house at the time. I hope you are feeling better soon.

I know I seem to be doing a lot of it but can I have another rant? plz.

Well..I went into argos and ordered a new bed for the girls on 16 may was told i'd have it within 2 weeks. Rang up the customer services 2 days later to check, yep they said two weeks.
Today I recieved a letter through the post saying they "anticipate having stock in the warehouse by the 7 JULY!!!! and will phone me after that date to arange delivery.

I am soo mad, they must have known it wasn't in stock when I ordered it. If they had told me I would have got the bed from somewhere else. The girls have been asking me everyday when their new bed is coming, and they are gonna be so dissapointed. Plus I think i'm gonna have a few other things to be occupied with in July!
Have emailed them and told them if they cant get it to me sooner i'll have to cancel the order (was too mad to phone them!)

Well thats the rant over! Sorry

On a lighter note... am starting to get myself organised. The girls and I have spent this morning sorting all the baby clothes out into age groups. Cant belive how many I have. Dont know where I am gonna find the space to store them all.

DD1 found my maternity pads this morning, "mummy what are these for?"...hmmm! Just told her they were for me and quickly put them away in the cupboard. She thinks the idea of breast pads are hilarious, I dread to think what her reaction would be to the maternity pads.

Ok, am sorry if have missed anyone out this morning, still feeling a bit annoyed. Hope you all have a good day, and those of you who are working dont work to hard. bye for now

Hi again, nixnoo a bacon cob is what they call a bacon breadcake/bun/bap, etc. in Leicestershire/Notinghamshire. I'm originally from Yorkshire via Lincolnshire and confuse everyone by calling them something different every time Grin!.

HumphreysCorner · 26/05/2006 13:00

Good news kayzed-your baby is the opposite to mine with spine to the right and legs to the left.

Hi to everyone else-will talk later.

xxx

janeOT · 26/05/2006 16:54

Hello ladies,

Havent been on for a few days so playing catch up!
SusieR - Welcome!! Smile
Nixnoo- my other half got that baby owners manual for xmas and your right its really good!
Clara - How horrible last thing you need Angry but at least they caught him!!

I'm off work til Tuesday and finish on Friday (CAN'T WAIT!!) Even tho i love my job i've had enough now! Then got a million appointments in June......havent started antenatal classes yet, hospital tour isnt til I'm 37 weeks and my scan to see if my placenta has moved isnt til 37wks either!
SO Envy at you all talking about sex!! We've been advised to avoid it as my placenta is low, my poor bloke hasn't said a peep but know how frustrated he must be (if I'm anything to go go!) Just hope its moved at the next scan so can get some in b4 LO arrives (as I'm sure it will be a while after!!) LOL Smile

maewest · 26/05/2006 18:11

Evening ladies, so Envy at those of you who are nearly finished at work, still have 5 weeks to go, although trying to use up my time off in lieu by working shorter days. However, I am one of the 'babies' of this group as I'm due 28 July so exactly 31 wks today.

Sunita - know what you mean with the clothes, feel like I'm constantly doing laundry! And I do miss having pretty summer clothes, not that it's been exactly summery down in Bristle at the mo! Dammit, I want to spend my mat leave before bub arrives sitting in my back garden in my deck chair eating lolly ices Grin

koshka1984 · 26/05/2006 19:04

Hey everyone,
thanks for your kindness, Im ok now, im just a complete softy esp. at the moment with extra hormones.
I have another cat, which is the brother of the dead one, and he broght a present for the midwife today! He is so fat and slow that i guess the bird was dead already (i hope) but her face was comedy!! hehe i know it is horrible, but his face was so funny he thought that it was a lovely present! he usually brings me twigs, i am very grateful!
