Hi ladies, hope you're all keeping OK and looking forward to this long weekend. I'm hoping mine to be quite productive and finalise my baby shopping. Have plenty of lists to take with me as can't rely on the preg brain at the mo.

Clara - Sounds terrible you poor thing, glad you're all OK.

Koshka - Very sorry to hear about your cat.

Sorry, haven't posted for a while but have been checking what you're all up to. Last time I wrote that I was having success with DS and his night time toilet training well of course my bragging on here made sure that it hasn't been such smooth sailing since. He wet the bed that night and has been dry since but has become a bit anxious about wetting the bed again and is taking over an hour and a half to get to sleep. (Still waking at the usual time I might add!!) I've tried quite a few different tactics and he's gradually getting better but its been a bit draining. And his behavour has been testing throughout the day too. Oh well, hopefully he'll get it all over and done with now and be an angel by the time LO arrives. Am I kidding myself or what? (You've gotta dream!)

He's 2.6 (someone was asking)

puddytat99 · 27/05/2006 05:52

Hi Everyone

Clara - What a terrible thing. At least you and the girls are safe but it still shakes you up.

Sunita - I have had a few difficult questions, that I've had to side step slightly as I work in a school and it's not really my place to 'inform' children of certain things. Mainly to do with how baby comes out. You never know what parents would say, so ones like that I always say it's best to speak to their parents. Though the other week I did have an oldet child believe that I WASN'T pg, just fat, how nice!!!!

Nixnoo - On the bacon cob front, as I live in nottingham that's what they call them here but I'm originally from Derbyshire/Cheshire border (nowhere near Derby) and we call them bacon butties.

Jersey - I don't live to far from there, small world or what Smile.

I managed not to cry when I finished work yesterday. The head got all the children together that I work with mainly and they gave me lots of pressies and cards. They had made a huge one, which they had all signed. Baby got some lovely pressies and next vouchers and they got me some pampering bits and pieces.

Also saw the mw yesterday and told her I had been having some sharp pains really low down and asked is it baby's head banging against me. She said no, not head but shoulders {shock] It seems head is very low, not engaged but not far off, as DS came early looks like this one is planning the same too.

Hope you all have a good weekend and manage to get some of this sun that's meant to be happening. DS is off to stay at my mum's for a few days today, so will be taking things easy as DH is at work all bank holiday weekend Sad. Take care of yourselves and your bumps.

Morning ladies

35 weeks today! Getting scared now.

Have just been rushing around trying to make the place tidy for my friend and her children coming but she has just phoned to say she is not well and is staying at home. Got into a sweat for nothing. She is going away next week and not back until the 18th June-2 weeks before I'm due-oo-er!

It is dry at the moment so may try and struggle and do my pots (without lifting anything though).

Hope you all have a nice long weekend.

puddy-sorry about your DH being at work. Mine is only ther this morning then I am getting my riding whip out and sending him into the nursery where he is to stay until I see some progress Grin

DD has appeared saying she wants a wee but her trousers are soaked so I guess she has already been. She never wets herself anywhere else so why here????? Better go.

Byee for now.

Afternoon girlies..

Just eaten a smarties mc flurry... only the fisrt this week, which is good for me! Teeth are v sensitive though... and gums quite bloody lately too...

Clara you poor thing. If you do get called to give evidence, you can really use it to your advantage, by talking about how distressing it was being pregnant and being burgled, so dont panic too much if you are called.

HC - laughed at you shutting your DH in the nursery til you see some results! That sounds like a plan!

Kayzed.. did you ask for a scan to see what way the baby was lying or did they suggest it? I'm a bit concerned that mine seems to be lying horizontally and wonder how they get to the point where they send you for a scan. I know I've got ages yet, but i want to know that its all heading in the right direction!

I think I was a bit enthusiastic, thinking I could work up until the middle of June before starting mat leave. Already I'm knackered in work and my feet swell up horribly, so when i see occ health on wed, I may see if i can go a bit sooner. Just dont want to use up all my mat leave before the baby is born.. esp if i go over.

Laughed at all your bringing on labour suggestions! I read an article a while back which said that the baby benefits from the endorphins you produce in orgasm... when i told dh this, he was appalled at the idea! I feel too much of an elephant to do much anyway! Have put on 2 1/2 stone!!!

Right dh is pestering to use the internet now, so better go... night all! x

SusieR · 28/05/2006 20:44

I did everything I could to bring on DD - pinapple, sex (no orgasm though, couldnt be bothered waiting for that :) )and a chicken tikka massalla madras hot and walking. I did it all within a few days and she was born shortly after( 1 wk early). Had to have an emergency CS though. I think I'm going to be tempted to do it again though.

Hi all,

Im getting lots of BH now but I think baby is still laying transverse. I was my first week back after our hols this week and im surprised at how difficult I found it. My bump feels really high up and my ribs ache and ive got back ache. Ive now got the pregnant womans waddle.

Im panicking about getting my bags ready and getting all the baby stuff out of the attic. Were still sorting out the house so I cant even get to the attic and even if I could I dont have anywhere to put them.

When do you start pernieium (sp) massage?? I tore quite badly with DD and want to avoid it this time. I also need to order a group B strep testing kit soon.

Ok Rant alert
As you all know weve been having an extension built. Before we went on hold the builder came around and finshed everything apart from wiring the underfloor heating. We had arranged for MIL to check that they had done this and then pay them while we were away. Well we came back to find that even though the underfloor heating is wired the stupid builder didnt check it actually worked b4 laying the tiles and it doesnt work. So unless we want to pull all the kitchen floor up again weve basically paid for heating that doesnt work. Then to top that off one of our neighbours who knows about buildings came around and told us that the roof hasnt been done correctly and is crap and also the rendering is likely to fall off in the winter. We are well pissed off because weve now paid the builder and even though hes said hell come and have a look surprise surprise he hasnt. ARGHHHH..

Rant over.
Have a good bank hols everyone

What is it with builders! DH has done all the work in our house (new kitchen and bathroom in last 2 yrs + decorating upstairs) but nothing as adventurous as an extension. His take on it seems to be - why pay someone to cock it up, when you can cock it up yourself for free (joking). He's a pretty good workman (must be the engineering thing), but does mean that everthing has to be fitted around working fulltime, so progress is not always the quickest! He's currently looking longingly at the concrete fireplace (completely fake, we don't actually have a chimney) and I know he's itching to take a sledgehammer to it, but I've put a stop on DIY for a bit Grin

Feeling really knackered this week, but still have 9 wks to go. Bub must be having a growth spurt, as all I want to do is sleep.

kbaby · 29/05/2006 17:30

Maewest I wish my DH was like yours unfortunetly, unless it involves sitting in a dark room and watching a film he's not interested. I tend to do all the decorating in our house and nag constantly until he helps.

maewest · 29/05/2006 19:57

kbaby - it does mean that we now have a huuuuge collection of tools, and that often, they are to be found cluttering up the hallway. So still nagging in our house, just directed in a different quarter Wink. I do try and help out, but my skills are mainly limited to holding things and passing mole-wrenches (and the fact that I know that a mole wrench is not used to do unmentionable things to small rodents)

sunita123 · 29/05/2006 21:26

Hi girls,

Kbaby - My lo seems to be lying transverse also. Been trying to get him/her to move but it does not seem to work. I'm also getting the painful ribs, painful hips, (espcially at night when trying to sleep) Indigestion ... but must not moan.... 7 weeks to go.

On a different note girls, I must say that I'm getting rather anxious about bub coming along.
My labour with DS took about 6 hours (From when I got to the hospital to when I actually gave birth). They say that second babies tend to arrive much faster. Well, This weekend I got talking to my SIL's - all three of them, and spoke to them about their second children and how long their labour was. To cut a long story short all of them seemed to say that their 2nd children hadn't taken long to deliver at all. (One of my SIL's didn't even make it to the hospital, and my neice was born on the bathroom floor!) Shock
Although I can't see this happening to me, what I can see happening is that bub is born on the way. The hospital that I'm delivering at is at least 45 mins away!!!

How can I ensure that I get there with lots of time to spare?
What happens if we get stuck halfway there and bub decides to put in an appearance? Sad

Twirl · 30/05/2006 10:32

Morning all
Sunita - if you are worried have you thought about a home birth? That way you could avoid the stress of getting to the hospital.
Thanks for all your lovely messages after my scare last week. Everything seems to have settled down although the SPD pain has got even worse since then - I feel like I have already given birth I am in so much pelvic pain. I have an appointment with my consultant tomorrow to discuss an elective caesarean and I'm really scared. I'm scared of the pain of pushing the baby out through a fragile pelvis which is causing so much pain I can barely hobble with my legs tightly closed, and I'm scared at the thought of a caesarean. Those of you who have had a caesarean already, what was it like? Having done the whole natural birth with DD I'm not worried on missing out on that Grin.

HumphreysCorner · 30/05/2006 18:04

Evening ladies

Have just worked my last day at work-yay!!!!!!! Bit scary though as it means the baby comes next.

sunita-you are having the same worry as me about not getting to the hospital on time. One of my friends only just made it but the birth was so quick and painful that she went into shock. My other friends all had C-Sections again. Was laid awake last night planning. After the trial run of the other week when I went in I realise how long it took to sort DD out and get DH home for us to drop DD off somewhere-aaarrrrrrrrrrhhhhhhhhhhhh!

Twirl-SPD is truly horrid isn't it. Keep those legs closed Wink

Girls-on the DIY front. You will be pleased to hear that DH painted the coving and undercoated the skirting boards. He started sealing between the skirting and floorboards but ran out of filler but has bought some today Grin. Watch this space.

That's all for now so love and hugs to all. Off to swig a bottle of Gaviscon.

maewest · 30/05/2006 20:04

Evening ladies - if I may have a little grump... I feel suddenly huge, peeing all the time, babe feels really low down, I just want to sleep and I have another 4 weeks after this left at work moan moan moan, oh and I think I have thrush (sorry if tmi). A week ago I felt fine, now it seems to have caught up with me. And I'm usually really capable and withit at work but today felt completely woolly and stereotypical pg lady.

ok rant over, feel better now. Also feel bit guilty for moaning as I really don't have much to complaing about, sorry Blush

sunita123 · 30/05/2006 20:07

Sorry for earlier girls, my day is going from bad to worse.

Baby is now breech, and if it doesn't turn may well have to have a CS.
Has made me even more anxious.
I won't go on about it.

I'm just going to go to bed and have a good blub.
(I know it's 8.00pm but can't face any more!)
Good night, hope everyone else's day has been better than mine.
Suni

koshka1984 · 30/05/2006 20:18

hi everyone
had quite an exciting monday, i went to the hospital cos i thought bump hadnt moved at all on sunday, so i went and was strapped up to the sonicaid machine thingie!
He of course started moving like a trooper, and even manged to get some hiccups at the end!
midwife said its cos he was breech, which he usually is but had moved down a bit and was sitting on his legs...

Also, they put the contraction moniter on me aswell (they said it was force of habit) and it was coming up with some little contrtactions as well! Does that mean real contractions, or maybe braxton hicks?

Anyway, thanks for listening hope your all ok
samx

bumpybel · 30/05/2006 20:34

Evening fatties! Went swimming after work today, in an effort to make the baby go with its back to my tummy (thanks for posting the brill article Kayzed.. am shortly going to watch big brother on all fours!)... anyway, there were quite a few kids at the pool and I overheard a little girl asking her mum why i had such an enormous tummy! I knew it was me she was referring to as I glanced over and saw the mother talking in hushed whispers, whilst glancing in my direction! Am now wondering if I am abnormally large!

Maewest, have a good old blub!! Ive still got three weeks left at work too and it feels like forever away. Am seeing occ health tomorrow and they may tell me to finish earlier if my bp is still up a bit. I wont be that gutted if they do, although i was hoping to stay in work as long as possible.

Sunita, have you read the article Kayzed put on here about positioning? It might help. My midwife hasnt been able to properly say how my baby is lying but thinks its back to back... i am sure i can feel it lying horizontally, but am paranoid about getting the right position.

HC you lucky old goat finishing work! Envy

Bought two nursing bras yesterday. Went and got measured and was quite embarrassed that my nipples were the size of saucers! I've been given an E!!! I've never been an E!... I feel like Jordan... with huge frizbee dark nipples!!! Nice!

Off to watch bb slumped over inflatable ball!

jom · 30/05/2006 20:49

Sorry to hear a few of you are feeling a bit worse for wear at the moment. Hopefully things will pick up for you all.

Had a good weekend and have most things sorted except the car seat and of course all my baby things from DS which are still in transit. Shock Still haven't done anything re the pram/ buggy but think I will just wait on that one. Don't know how but managed to pull my back yesterday and am in quite a bit of pain. Just trying to take things easy as I want it to get better before the whole birth thing.

Twirl - I had an emergency c- section with DS due to foetal distress and coped really well with it all. I was surprised how quickly I recovered to be honest. DS was born at 4.58 am and I was up and walking around at about 7pm that night and even went to the physio classes at the hospital the next morning. I generally took it pretty easy for the first month just looking after DS and was fine after that. The only thing I would say is that its good to have someone there to help you with the LO for the first day as you can't move to change nappies or even getting the baby for a feed. Luckily my sis was able to spend the day with me as my DH had a uni exam that day and couldn't be there! (After a full night of excitement too!) I have been offered another c-section but would like to try for a vaginal delivery this time as you said for sake of knowing what its like, and also I'm pretty confident that all should be OK as my obstetrician from DS' birth said I was labouring well it was just the foetal distress that made them do a c-section. I was also 10 days late, the placenta was deteriorating and there was hardly any amniotic fluid when my waters were broken so this probably all contributed to the foetal distress and can be monitored this time around. A bit nervous about it all but hoping will go OK.

Speaking of births has anyone bought those 'feme pad' gel packs for relieving your stiches? Saw them and thought they'd be a good idea - not that I want to plan on having the whole stitches thing but if I do would like to know I was prepared! Do they have them or something like that in the hospitals? I guess it may depend on the hospital but as this is my first baby in the UK was just wondering. I know they had something like that in Australia but obvoiusly having a c-section didn't use them. Any advise if any good or a waste of money? I'd be happy to hear from your experiences. Smile

Sorry for the long post!

jom · 30/05/2006 20:52

Glad all worked out well for you koshka must have been scarey. Well done for getting it checked out though and not just worrying!Smile

entropy · 30/05/2006 21:00

Hi everyone

Just sending off my forms to say I want to attend my graduation ceremony. Its 4 days before my due date!! Ive umed and arred but it took me 6 years to get my PhD and I will feel really cheated if I don't get to wear the silly hat....

For those of you who have done this before, Am I being naieve thinking I will be able to attend it? I'm pretty sure baby will be late (I'm always late with everything, the PhD was 3 years overdue Grin ) Its a lot of money to waste if I can't go though....

lilianna · 30/05/2006 21:06

hi girls, just trying to update myself.
How is everyone doing? well i hope.
just been reading about 2nd births.
ds1 labour was 3hrs 46mins, gave birth in hospital.
dd gave birth in the ambalance
ds2 labour 1hr 26mins, gave birth in hospital.

If anyone doesn't manage to make it to the hospital to give birth, i must say that going to the hospital with your new baby is a lovely feeling and you know the hard work is done.

So is everyone ready for there baby to make its arrival?
I'm not at all, still got loads to do and things to buy.
Due to go on Holiday on friday for a week, can't wait, just somewhere to try and relax (easier to say than do with ds1 aged 3yrs, dd aged 2yrs and ds2 aged 10months).
Although the kids are really looking forward to going to the beach.
Going to the midwife tomorrow, should be fun as i still haven't had 28week blood tests and will be 34weeks tomorrow.
(excuse - the kids have had suspected chicken pox).
Anyway hope all is well.
lilianna

koshka1984 · 30/05/2006 21:48

thanks jom, but it was my mum, she rang the hospital, and then forced me to the hospital!
i didnt want to bother anyone, but the midwife was lovely and told me off for not coming in earlier!
