Hello mums-to-be
I haven't been on for awhile and it has taken me ages to catch up with all the gossip! I am glad you and bumps are all still here! We went to Cornwall last week which was fab, but having had so much help with DD from DH I am now dreading him going back to work tomorrow Sad. My mat leave officially starts at the beginning of June but I have been signed off with SPD for the duration of pregnancy now. I'm getting a bit bored of the wait (and the pain!!!) to be honest and just want the little man to arrive. Don't feel prepared at all though...

jersey · 15/05/2006 09:51

Morning back at last, seemed to have missed loads. 30 weeks now, still seems ages away as so much to do. Had carpet fitted this weekend in living room as DS always falling over on the wooden floor.

Like the list for new mums. Only thing I would suggest is a baby support for the bath as holding onto a slippery wriigling baby isn't easy. We had one of the toweling ones last time which was a god send.

DS is 22months and terrible 2's hit end of last week. I now have the child from HELL!!!!!!!!

I also have a scan 23rd may for the hypertension clinic.

Speak soon

puddytat99 · 15/05/2006 10:38

Hi Everyone

Sorry for not being around for a while, been busy trying to get sorted out at home, work and Uni.

Saw my GP on Friday and she was impressed with my weight gain as I've been really careful how much I've put on because of my sciatica. I've put on 19lbs and 9 sheets of loo roll. It must be having to chase after all those kids at work Grin. Though I've got some mild swelling and a urine infection, that needs an eye on.

HC - Have you had any joy with the border yet? I know the Nottingham store had some in over the weekend, if I'd known you were still after some, I'd have picked them up for you.

Can't believe I'll be finishing work next Friday. I'll be 34 weeks then. It's flying by so fast, it's scary Shock

Hope everyone is feeling good and not getting too wet with this soggy weather.

Annie29 · 15/05/2006 11:08

Hello Ladies in waiting.

Hope everyone is feeling ok, specially all of you who're having aches and pains. Not long to go now...

Thinking of getting a Phil and Ted E3 buggy, where you can have the baby in the back, and DS at the front. Waiting for a bargain on the internet though, as it's #380 in Mothercare... It's quite lightweight so it's good, some of the others are really heavy.

Also in a quandry about who's going to look after DS when I go into labour. All my family are in Ireland, plus my brother's getting married two days after my due date so they'll all be at that anyway... So that leaves the PILs... They live Up North though, so it'd take them several hours to get here (and not in the middle of the night either as they don't drive). I have an aunt who lives close by, and a friend, but neither could really look after him for more than a few hours... I don' t want my PILs to come!!! SHE just takes over everything and He just comments on everything and they both drive me mad. It's MY baby, and MY son, so I don't want her paws on them, when I've just given birth. DH, naturally, can't see a problem, it seems the obvious solution. I'll just have to resign myself to the idea. Can't stop them coming. Even though they were told last time I didn't want to see anyone til I was settled, and they arrived at the door an hour after I got home...
Sorry girls, end of rant.

Six weeks left at work, Bloss, I think I do just as little work as you, last week was the first full week I did in ages!!!

Have a good day girls,

Annie (30+4)

Straightforward · 15/05/2006 12:22

Hi Girls

Fed up today - feel heavy, cumbersome and useless. Had hospital tour on Sunday and it really got me scared about birth etc. Plus, DH away from tomorrow till Sunday and bloody useless FIL hanging around, stinking the house out and making infuriating comments. Also, friend just lent MY NEW BABY's carseat to someone I don't even know for 'just a few weeks' and made out like I was being unreasonable for demanding it back (I'd originally lent it to her for a couple of days in an emergency). DD tired and stroppy and so am I but I'm still supposed to be all patient and look after her and stinky FIL. When do I get to have my tired strop? (Guess I've just done it here...)

Sorry girls, just feeling crap and needed to have a rant.

spub · 15/05/2006 12:38

SF- bless. Rant away.
Don't think you're being unreasonable at all!
Do you have access to chocolate? Eat lots.

Feel better soon!

pinkdolly · 15/05/2006 12:54

Hi girls,

I got my boots parent club vouchers at the weekend, so popped in there this morning. Picked up my advent starter pack and huggies newborn pack (was quite impressed with that one). Still got lots of vouchers to spend so will enjoy pampering myself.

I also decided to weigh myself whilst I was in there as haven't done it for a while. Am now 11 stone 2 pounds. Which means I have put on 26 pounds so far this pgBlush. Surely there cant be much more weight to be put on now! I gained 3 stone with my first pg and am hoping to do better this time.

Annie- I hope you get things sorted with your DS, and that it's not too stressful having your PIL involved. I know how you feel and am just glad that I dont have to rely on my PIL for help. They'd do my head in.

Am 30 weeks now, which feels like another milestone. Just hope the next 10 weeks go quickly. Getting fed up of being so uncomfy.
Have a good day ladies!

IamBlossom · 15/05/2006 13:12

Afternoon all.

SF - rant away dear girl - I would be LIVID if someone lent out something of mine I had lent them without asking, espesh if new. The cheek!

Annie that is a pain about the PIL - why can your friend only do a couple of hours? Surely for such a good cause......?

Hi Twirl, Jersey and Paddy, glad you are all still well and logging on! Haven't heard from loads for ages, like Kbaby, OldieMum, malachismum, Clara1, etc.....Hope all is well.

Well I was proved wrong - he DIDN'T get drunk and he DID could the BBQ and I WAS impressed. And he supports Liverpool so he was a very happy bunny.

BOTHERED!

8 and a bit loo roll sheets - have I shrunk? Deffo eased up on the food intake, and seem to have LOST a couple of pounds, although I am doing lots of walking and swimming at the moment, making the most of DS being in nursery still. Might as well cancel the membership after LO's arrival.

Pick up noooooooo car today hurrah - we have bought a 1 year old Peugeot 407 SE SW, and it is official I am now a mum driving a mumsy car. Oh well, it will be fab to have all the extra room and it's ALMOST new so nice to have a new toy to play with. Until it gets covered in crap like the current car.

Today I have mostly been to the dentist, Tescos and read Closer magazine. I am now going to start my handover document/masterpeice for work, to assuage the guilt, which will take me nicely up to cuppa tea and fig roll time at circa 2.

Lots of love,

Bloss. xxxxxxxx

Kayzed, you're a brave woman, doing it all without a birth partner. I don't think I'd get through it without DH, to be honest, I'm a bit of a take-the-easy-option need-someone-to-hold-my-hand kinda girl. It actually never occurred to me that I could just go in myself and DH could look after DS. I think he'd want to come though.
Bloss, my 'friend' is actually DH's best friend, so a)he's a bloke (shock horror at looking after a kid), b) he's generally out having a good time, so if we did call on him at 3am, he'd probably just be stumbling in after a night out, c)he's not ever looked after a young child on his own, wouldn't know what to do when he woke up etc. But saying all that, I personally think he'd cope fine, as DS is used to him, it's just DH doesn't think he would. I'm sure my auntie would cope very well as well, she's a mum of 5, but again, DH thinks that DS doesn't know her well enough. He just wants his mummy really doesn't he...(DH I mean!)

Kayzed, drink more water!!! That should help with the cramps. So my yoga teacher once said...

SF, hope you feel better. Agree with spub - get loads of choc!! And ice cream!!! Oooh ice cream....

Well girls, have a nice evening, check in again soon
Annie

Hi Ladies,

I have subscribed to the Boots club (a few weeks ago) but have not yet received any vouchers, did yours take long too? Also not got the Bounty Packs, feeling a bit unlucky!

I am in a foul mood right now, because I have just had the misfortune of getting on a VERY full bus of the bendy variety. Not only did nobody offer me a seat, but a stupid, large (and quite hairy) woman decided at the last second to get off the bus as it's doors were closing, and SHOVED past me, pushing me in the belly in the process. I shoved back at her and shouted some unrepeatables. Of course still nobody stood up for me, so I was on the brink of tears by the time I got home!
Very unlike me to shout at people btw.

I would be also be angry / upset if somebody lent out my baby things without asking, unacceptable.

Besides all that, am getting more and more excited. Officially 8 weeks to go today!

:D

koshka1984 · 15/05/2006 20:21

Hey,

Feel like a rant, but will have a deep breath, infact calmed down reading your messages...

anyway, had a fight with gas company, and now am riled up and fancy a fight!

Blossom - i am impressed that he managed the BBQ!
must have had nice weather where you were its horri-bobble up here!

Night - off to make tea x

jom · 15/05/2006 21:35

Nixnoo - I also subscribed to the parenting club and haven't heard anything. I did it on the net at 28.4 wks preg and have since read that you get gifts up to 28 weeks. Hopefully they're just slow at sending things out not really strict on the conditions as I could easily have changed my EDD on the form Shock as who knows when LO will actually arrive!

Am also getting cramps in the morning when I first wake and stretch my legs. Not too bad but just enough to make me jump out of bed to stretch it out before it develops into something really painful.

kayzed - pregnancare (which i think i remember you take) supplies 50% rda of magnesium and if you have a good diet along with drinking tap water in london you should not be deficient (hard water s'pose to have higher magnesium count) ....

i sympathise as i get cramp too - particularly in my calf (ouch) - i heard banana's and plenty of water ............

koshka - i could rant on for ever about gas company (well british gas) I HATE THEM!!

have a busy day tomorrow - got my mw appt at 9.45, then a scan at hospital at noon, followed by acupuncture for my hayfever (fingers crossed that works, i'm sick of everything streaming ....)

goodnight all xx

Wasnt sure about using brand names, if i got into trouble, but it was them!
Argh!!
I worked in a call centre and we were under a hell of a lot ofpressure for not leeting any customer wait longer than 2 mins maximum and i was always proud that i always tried to help everyone i talked to first time without passing off or using stupid excuses!

Obviosly not everyone as customer friendly!

Rant over thanks ladies!

deblaca · 16/05/2006 08:34

kayzed - thanks (you are research Queen)

pinkdolly · 16/05/2006 09:31

Morning Ladies,

For those still waiting for their boots vouchers. They try and get them out to you in 6 weeks, so if you have been waiting longer then that give them a call.

I joined the club when I first found out that I was pg, still hadn't recieved anything at beginning of last week so I gave them a call. Only turns out that they had a really old address for me (haven't lived there for 6 years!). Well, I use DH advantage card and he picked it up when he was at college we forgot to tell them of our change of address when we moved out of my parents, so that's where the stuff got sent. Of course my parents dont live there anymore, so someone else probably spent my vouchers. Still, Boots were very nice, and even though it was my fault they re-sent them to this address and I recieved them in a few days. Which I thought was v.nice.

Just wondering if I might have had a surge in hormornes, spent the last few days feeling like I could kill someone (well, not quite that bad), and then feeling like I could burst into tears.

It suddenly dawned on me yesterday, that these will be the last few weeks I have with my girls before LO arrives. I know that sounds silly, but the whole dynamics of our family are gonna change, and in a way I do feel a bit sad. Although at the same time am getting very excited at the prospect of having another little girl to fuss over (there's just no pleasing some people).

Was it a day for crappy Gas companies yesterday?
I spent ages on the phone trying to get through to British Gas, but the department I was trying to reach was experiencing technical difficulties so I never managed it.

I too hate them with a passion, I'm not even with them! Left them because of there crap customer services and high prices, and am still trying to sort things out.Angry

Anyway's sorry about the mammouth post, am in one of those moods today where I could quite easily go on and on ranting about everything. So will dissapear and try and keep myself occupies in other ways.
Have a good day gals!
