Hi girlies,

Pinkdolly - I'm sure we must share a midwife then, coz mine's rubbish too!!

Last week, she was supposed to come at 10:00am, so I waited and waited and then waited some more, and at 10:50am, DH had to phone her to ask if she was actually intending on making the appt, she was all.. oh yeah, I'll be there soon, no "sorry, I should have called" and then when she did turn up, she still didn't apologise. I was sooooo annoyed Angry

I have friends who are still friends with their midwives years later but to be perfectly honest, I can't wait to see the back of mine and the sooner the better!!

I'm upset too at the level of care, I know they are short staffed, but a 30 second phone call to say she was running late and was it still convenient? Really, is to too much to ask?

Hearing all your stories about antinatal classes, I can't wait for mine to start, but it's not until 22nd June, so a while yet for me Envy

Anyhoo, have a lovely weekend everyone and Koshka1984, hope you went ok at docs

TTFN

Morning ladies

Another lurvely day Grin.

Seem to be in so much pain since my scan-can't believe I said I wasn't in any pain when the sonographer asked me and now there is lots. Don't know if it is down to the scan prodding or the low placenta. Have permanent yellow discharge as well. Got this awful feeling madam is going to be earlier than anticipated.

E-Mailed Mothercare again and they are sorry but have no idea when the Baby Jungle border and wallpaper will be in stock-grrrhhh! On Ebay 1 roll of wallpaper and 1 border went for nearly £50 and there is someone now selling loads of borders in seperate lots for an absolute fortune. The advert states that the item is currently out of stock-how enterprising is that? DH has told me not to bid but am worried about the room not being finished in time. Going to find some wallpaper to match the border tomorrow.

Just looking out of the window, the poor man next door has a garden 3 times the size of ours and his ride on mower is broken so he is using a push mower. He has a towel wrapped round his neck and keeps mopping his brow-he is going to be still doing it tonight.

Straightforward-what an excellent list you did. I don't think I'll be using a bottle warmer this time. Since my SIL persuaded me to use the microwave I have never looked back. I remember how many times I was trying to cool the bottle down while DD screamed.

Going to ask DH to 'trim the garden' soon especially if I have to have a probe stuck up at the next scan.

Hope you are all enjoying your antenatal classes-I didn't really get enough out of it last time to warrant going again.

pinkdolly-you would think that your mw would have rung to see why you didn't turn up as anything could be wrong. Mine even rung to see how the amnio went so although I don't see mine very much I am being looked after. Seeing her on 25th May at nearly 35 weeks.

Am starving as usual so off to get a sandwich. Hope you all have a lovely day and don't do too much.

Love to all

Kayzed, how come you dont have a midwife? Do you get looked after by your GP or hosp or something?

Kayzed midwifeless? Yiszat?

I suspect it is possible for people to be doing a full time job and doing as little as I am work related, but I doubt it. The guilt is fading as my leave approaches in 2 weeks, yay! Just been the gym, had a god long walk on the treadmill, knackered now, but glad to be still active and keeping limber.

Anyone else really looking forward (not) to drunken other halfs watching the FA Cup Final? My DH supports Liverpool and he is watching it in the pub with my sister's OH who supports West Ham. Should be interesting. They are then allegedly coming home to cook a BBQ. Yeah right. I have been accused of ruining his fun and being too cynical when I suggested he might be a tad too inebriated to accomplish this feat, so i shall keep my mouth shut, but I might prepare a back up option for my sister and myself food wise JIC. Sooooooooooooo boringly predictable, if I could just get drunk with them I wouldn't give a s**t.

Bought some nice cutoffs from DH maternity in Basingsstoke last weekend, one beige pair and a khaki pair, and feel cool and summery, hurrah!

have a fab weekend everyone.

hiya all,

Kayzed- Shock at you not having a mw. Even if some of them are awful, i thought everyone was entitled to one. Perhaps I should stop complaining about mine, who BTW still hasn't rang yet. I better make an appointment to see her next week.

Kay- With you on the fact that mw could be a bit more considerate.
My sis found out she was pg a few months ago, unfortunatly she lost the baby. The hospital informed mw who rang her 2 days later and said "just checking you did lose the baby". Sis was obviously very distressed at mw being so blunt and inconsiderate.

Jom- Dont get me going on preghead! I am sure I am 10 times worse than usual with this pg. The only thing I have sorted out so far for this baby is her name!
I have stuff left over from the girls but I still need to get all the mundane items like breastpads etc. I cant seem to get myself into gear to think about what I need.
I am so forgetful and just stupid lately.

You know my rant last nite regarding the hosepipe. Well I rang Dh and complained to him, only turns out I hadn't put the rubber seals in properly! (silly cow).

I am knackered and in pain again after spending two blissful days in the garden. So am now waiting for my chinese to be delivered. Naughty I know but I wont be eating them when the baby is here as I will be trying to shift those extra pounds! Better make the most of it them.

HC- Sorry to hear about your pain. Lets hope your baby doesn't come too soon.

Well, have a good weekend girls.

agalch · 12/05/2006 18:21

Hi all

I can't believe some of your experiences with mw's.I feel so lucky with mine. She is always available (if on duty) but if she's not there i can speak to one of the other 3 mw's.She is completely supportive of my homebirth(she initially suggested it) and always takes time to let me waffle Grin.In fact i don't think i have ever had a horrible mw,some are better than others but i must be very lucky.
She even came to see dp and i at home on a Saturday to discuss homebirth as we found it tough to find a time to suit all of us to see her at the practice.
Have a good weekend all, raining here now after a few lovely days Sad

koshka1984 · 12/05/2006 19:13

Erm, 117/86 i think. the nurse said it was ok, but you cant help but worry can ya!

Watched hollyoaks today(sorry!) and i cried my heart out, a baby on there passed away and it made me realise that after i thank whoever that i am still pregnant every day, that when hes born evewrything could go wrong!

how can anyone with children sleep?!!?!?

im terrified!

samx

lilianna · 12/05/2006 22:47

Hi girls sorry i haven't been on for a while. Things have been so busy and there is still plenty to do, (getting the house decorated, potty training ds1 and dd).
Kayzed- i also don't have a midwife, not that i find them much help.
Hope everyones pgs are going well. I'm off to bed now.
Take care
Lilianna

HumphreysCorner · 13/05/2006 10:16

Morning ladies

33 weeks today! Grin

koshka-panic ye not hun-everything will be fine. It is normal to worry about things and we are all here to give moral support thank goodness.

lilianna-nice to hear from you again-hope the potty training is going well.

kayzed-don't think I have a urine infection. Just feel like I have done an aerobics session and are stiff the next day and when I stand up the baby must be burrowing out as it feels like a big weight pressing down. Will feel better when I have had the next scan on the 23rd May. I suppose I am worried as my friend had the same thing and had DD by emergency C-Section at 33 weeks and I'm that now!

Wet and miserable here today so off wallpaper and carpet hunting.

Love to all and byee for now.

Hi gang!
apologies for the sporadic postings. Very busy at work and home! Finish work May 31st. Can't wait. Am huge and knackered. I feel like an incontinent asthmatic sea cow!
Went into town this morning to buy some birkenstocks - my feet are only fitting into one pair of shoes and sandals! The woman serving asked how many weeks to go and I said 7.She looked at me and said - you're huuuuge! Am studiously avoiding full length mirrors!
ALso bought breast pads, nipple cream, shields and those gel packs for the fridge. BF didn't go well last time but I'm determined to have another go!
Cloudy here today so taking it easyish and catching up with various mates over the weekend.
Hope you're all well!

Me again-there isn't an Oxford Street store listed on the web site store locator-could it come under another street name?

HumphreysCorner · 13/05/2006 17:52

Me again-I phoned Marble Arch and they don't post stock out to homes or other stores but thanks for looking anyway.

Evening ladies, most exciting day today, my parents came to visit bringing a cotbed, which we've now assembled in the baby's room (also have chest of drawers. Oh and they brought another bag of vests - I must have about 50 now Grin It's all starting to feel a bit real!

HumphreysCorner · 13/05/2006 19:58

Don't worry kayzed-I only need 1 roll of border now so can wait until it is in stock. Someone is selling 1 roll on Ebay so will see how the bidding goes on that. The Marble Arch Branch told me to phone customer services who will tell me who has some wallpaper in stock so may try that on Monday and failing that we have picked up some plain samples today which would match. I need 6 rolls of wallpaper and if Marble Arch had them in I would have asked for your kind help. Thank you again.

If its any consolation Kayzed my DS has just started saying he doesn't want a baby either. He used to say he wanted a little sister and now he wants 'nothing'!!Grin

Also made a trip to Mothercare today but didn't last too long - way too busy!! I thought everyone would be home watching the football!! (Maybe its just my house). May have to make a trip back during the week for some serious shopping.
