TomDaleysTrunks · 30/01/2013 19:39

Just had a quick scan back on my phone, Well done to all those running. I'm still getting my dizzy spells so haven't dared go running on my own. I'm managing Zumba twice a week plus taking DD for walks. Going to start antenatal aquarobics after I've passed my driving test.

Had a greedy day today; Cheerios and fruit for break, 2 pieces of peanut butter and jam on toast at 11, minestrone soup for lunch and stirfry for dinner (portion big enough for 2 people). Will probably need a snack pre bed! Urgh.

TotallyEggFlipped · 30/01/2013 19:55

TomDaleysTrunks I felt very light headed in the first trimester and really dropped my distances (now running half my pre-pregnancy distances and much slower). I started running wearing flight socks and I really think it helped. They're just compression stockings, so help to stop the blood pooling in your legs. I know the muscle pump is meant to return all the blood anyway, so theoretically they shouldn't make any difference, but I really feel they helped. Probably just placebo effect, but it's working for me.

Silver15 · 30/01/2013 20:03

Hello,

Been lurking for some time. Can I join please?

DC3 edd 28 July. Also I'm on the phone so can't add myself on to the list. Can someone help please.

TomDaleysTrunks · 30/01/2013 20:10

Hi silver, welcome!

Thanks for the sock idea. I keep fainting, GP reckons its cos my BP is in my boots. Will give anything a go. Smile

Abzs · 30/01/2013 20:33

BadMissM you can have cake. You just need some diet appropriate baking recipes. My DGM has diabetes and always had lovely cakes (while she was able to bake for herself).

VinegarDrinker · 30/01/2013 20:50

TomDaleysTrunks I couldn't survive being pregnant at work (especially on nights) without my TEDS. They really do help. As does necking huge volumes of ice cold water.

Supershiv1 · 30/01/2013 21:11

Crikey!
There's a few missing from the list now (WEES, SILVER, HUFFS.......)not sure if it was crossposted at some point and people have been knocked off...?
I still haven't changed my EDD to 27th (I felt like I was 12 wks forever, 10days I have been put back in all).

Have been in Worcester with work and have been checking out every buggy that goes past. I look like some sort of buggy/child stalker...

TotallyEggFlipped · 30/01/2013 21:25

Supershiv when I was pregnant with DD, DH and my brother were in town together and approached a random couple to ask about their buggy. DH started by saying "we're expecting a baby...." then quickly "Oh no! Me and his sister are expecting a baby!" and then quizzed them about their buggy.

TomDaleysTrunks · 30/01/2013 21:29

I've got a mamas and papas sola and it's pretty good. No real concerns, basket a bit small but never really used it!

Nights are a killer when pregs, I find it exhausting beyond belief. Water, water, water.

Haven't added myself to list yet as always on my phone - will do next time I load the computer though.

MarieKL · 30/01/2013 21:53

Welcome to WeeS, Pearl and Sliver

Sorry I can't remember who said it but I have a serious sugar craving as well and like BBO1 I've eaten a ridiculous amount today. So far bowl of cereal, banana, packet of crisps, creme egg, sausage sandwich, jelly fruit sweets, apple, another creme egg (dame those special offers) cupcake and just had Indian take away as we had a minor gas gas leak so couldn't use the oven!

Feeling guilty as walked 4 miles every day when pg with DS but now just walk between the car park and office and struggle to find a good time to fit in any sort of exercise in the evening! Looks like my contract will definitely end in March though so hoping I'll have a few months to do some exercise whilst DS is at pre-school.

Which reminds me TotallyEggsFlipped any news on your possible job?

MarieKL · 30/01/2013 21:57

TomDaleysTrunks and SuperShiv I had something similar with my mum. She use to change queues at the supermarket or run up the street after complete strangers to ask them about their buggy Smile

Only thing is I found myself doing a similar thing when considering scooters for DS. Must run in the genes Blush

SlouchingPanda · 30/01/2013 22:48

When do you plan to stop working nights, VinegarDrinker and TomDaleysTrunks? I have been in a cushy 8-5 post for a few months, but back to my normal rota on Monday (starting with a 12h shocker). Nights looming later in Feb. Normally I cope ok usually by eating, but not done them pregnant yet... will definitely seek out some TEDS and keep hydrated. Any other tips?

16+6 - MW appt tomorrow Grin

Cheeseandbread · 31/01/2013 03:17

"3 O'Clock in the morning and it looks like its going to be another sleepless night..."

I find I get extra thirsty in the night too- anyone else?

I like the updates everyone keeps putting about pushchairs. Totally your post made me giggle Smile the more info the better. I've turned into a stalker of pushchairs... Might start running after people soon.

I can't wait to feel kicks like some of you. I've been told I have an anterior placenta though... Anyone else had this before... When did you start feeling kicks?

Happy Thursday! nearly the weekend

15+5

lizincornwall · 31/01/2013 05:39

Cheeseandbread - hope you're soundly asleep now :)

I can't sleep for dreaming of pushchairs, more like nightmares. We went to try out a couple of double buggies today, and now my head is SWIMMING. Why isn't there a perfect pushchair? Any experience of the following buggies welcomed!

Out n about - recommended by friends with twins / two close together (my DD will be 18mo when little one arrives). Great for all terrain, folds ok, but just forward facing. No cot /car seat attachments

Britax B-Agile double - Amazing fold. Takes our car seat (but not easy to swap between full seat & car seat adaptors), but DD's head hits the top of the hood already!

Bugaboo Donkey - Brilliantly customisable, gorgeous cot attachment. But no way it'll fit in our boot (Fiesta), and £1000?!! And you need to take it apart to get it in / out of the boot. This is how I know I'm going nuts: I started looking into getting a new car, so that it would fit in the boot. I need locking up Blush

iCandy pear - only seen online. Again, looks customisable, but needs taking apart to get in / out of a car. Will that get really annoying? Quite pricey, and reviews say it's really heavy.

I need someone to just tell me what to get, so I can stop going round in circles Smile.

TomDaleysTrunks - good luck for your driving test :)
All you girls exercising - good on you! You'll be thankful for the extra stamina later! Very jealous (I'm in the eating everything camp).

Night night all!

photographerlady · 31/01/2013 07:19

Morning! I slept in two hours because my MW appointment today. So have to have the basic meeting but also tell them I move in two weeks to the southwest and need to change hospital/scan appointment. Hope I don't overwhelm then. Good luck to you SlouchingPanda and hope you have a lovely appointment.

So what's for breakfast ladies? I am off for egg and soldiers.

TotallyEggFlipped · 31/01/2013 07:45

MarieKL I've applied for a 6 month job, but if I get an interview I'll have to tell them I'm pregnant, because I want to work for them long term and I don't want to be 'the one who let them down' by turning round after a few weeks and saying I can only do 5 months. It's so awkward applying for jobs when you're pregnant!

SlouchingPanda I found nights really tough when I was pregnant with DD and stopped at 31 weeks, but I was only doing 2 or 3 in a row and often got a sneaky catnap in if it was quiet.

Good luck everyone with appointments today, especially photographer. I hope the MW is helpful.

I'm 16 weeks today and I'm not convinced I've felt any movements yet. I'm very windy. I'm hoping the MW will listen for a heart beat at my appointment tomorrow to reassure me.

Breakfast will probably be porridge. It's the only thing that keeps me going until its time for elevenses......

esme80 · 31/01/2013 07:57

Morning! My DS has decided to have a lie in today, only starting to stir now, lovely! Although I have been awake on off since five, but still!
Regarding exercise I have been swimming 3 times a week and doing my pregnancy yoga dvd. Wanted to try prenatal aquaaerobics but only class was at 11 on tuesdays! Not helpful really...

liz I am also looking at double prams and confused... Want something that can face me, that has quite generous seats (large babies...) Also love the donkeybut its so expensive! Boot space isnt a problem for us, but the price! And they are quite new so hard to get second hand. The other day I found myself justifying it because we dont really have to get anything else for the baby!

I looked at the icandy pear and peach, found the seats too small, ds would outgrow it in the next few months!

Must go get ds up as am starving! Good to know not just me...

McKTastic · 31/01/2013 08:00

Today we move! Well it's all getting uploaded & tmrw will be delivered. Have packed everything ourselves or at least I have (so would cross out the word ourselves if I could figure out how!). Am Blush at how much stuff we have & dreading sorting it all out at the other end. Really should have chucked more but am still puking & the last few days have been a struggle. Moan over!

LizinC think we'll get the Out n About - not perfect but as a lot of you are finding don't think there is such a thing as a perfect buggy! We have the single V2 & like it so decided on a simple choice! Tesco also sell them so next time before July when they double clubcard points in Baby Dept will use our vouchers & won't have to part with much cash - that's the plan anyway! Slightly miffed the single takes a car seat/carrycot but they never thought to make the double that way - am building up to a rant to customer services!

Ok - far too many exclamation marks!!! Am bloody knackered. Hope everyone else well.

mysterymeg · 31/01/2013 08:26

All you ladies exercising are making me feel guilty!

I've been worrying a bit - 1) I have a lot of discharge (and I mean a lot!). It's quite watery which is what's making me worry. 2) my bump is uncomfortable. When I move in certain ways it feels like there's something in the way. 3) I'm having weirdpains in my "lady area" which are similar to the ones I had around the time of my BFP so I'm assuming are stretching type pains.

Is all this normal? Anyone else feeling like this? It feels like its too early to be uncomfortable

16 + 6

BB01 · 31/01/2013 08:53

mysterymeg definitely experiencing 1 and 3 - you're not alone! Nor sure re bump being uncomfortable but then mine's v small so far.

MightbeMad, arrh shame about the class. Annoying when you get some enthusiasm up then you fail at first hurdle! Don't give up - must be others out there, somewhere??

Keep your greedy food diaries coming!! Although some people who say they have eaten a lot don't sound like they've eaten v much at all to me!!

It is so hard to motivate yourself to exercise in the winter when you're blimmin knackered. Little and often seems to work best for me - a few squats here, a few yoga poses there, some walking every day. Ditto with the food - trying not to deny myself what I'm craving but will try to have a smaller portion and have fruit to fill myself up. Hard though!

esme80 · 31/01/2013 09:16

Good luck with the move mcktastic!

mystery lots of discharge is normal, just one of those fun things about pregnancy! Dont think you need to worry about the pains, its more intense pains and bleeding at you need to get checked out. Oh, and unfortuntely, its not at all too early to be uncomfortable...

VinegarDrinker · 31/01/2013 09:17

Re working nights. I worked til 37 weeks last time and didn't stop nights til 34 weeks (then delivered at 38+...)

But this time I am 2 years more senior with the ensuing extra responsibility (I was an ST2 when pregnant with DS1) so I need to be sure I am not going to leave patients and bosses in the lurch overnight by not being able to do the job fully and safely. I need to have a chat to my boss. It seems like a lot of people stop at 28 weeks. One of my more junior colleagues has already stopped hers at 22 weeks...

We do standalone nights (1 a week) apart from weekends so at least I don't have to cope with a week in a row, although in lots of ways I find them more exhausting.

From my memory of last time, first trimester night shifts were the absolute worst, and after that it did improve. That has certainly been true so far this time, I did an awful weekend of nights at 8 weeks, DS1 was ill and DH was working so I couldn't get much rest at all in the day, I felt like I was actually dying.

I seem to only ever work in busy units where you are lucky to have time to eat or wee let alone try and get any sleep, so that doesn't help!

Luckily we are reasonably well staffed (no rota gaps at the moment, plus a floater) so whenever I do stop it shouldn't cause my colleagues any extra work.

photographerlady · 31/01/2013 09:19

mystery always worth ringing the midwife if you are worried. The pains happen to me too just never had the discharge.

trustissues75 · 31/01/2013 09:22

Morning all - got my midwife appointment today which I'm glad about - not been feeling Nugget move very much this past couple of days after a marathon from her/him on Tuesday - sure it's just hiding, loads of room left in there right now, right?

Silver15 I've added you in :)
