Am exhausted - good job this pregnancy is symptomless or i'd be flat out!
re weight gain - about now 16-17 weeks i start the 1lb a week gain and that continues until the end ...i work hard not to overgain in pg as 3 stone goes on easy but afterwards i feel rubbish! Worth struggling now to feel 'ok ish' after delivery imo

Morning all, just having a sneaky catch up before work!

Not much to report here - I've not felt anything like as definite kicks since the other night, serves me right for posting all enthusiastically about it! I'm trying to take my own advice that I gave someone on here (think it was ellie or esme) and remember that it's no big deal for movements to come and go at this stage.

Re. "nasty comments" I'm really sorry to hear that, BB01. Some people are so insensitive. I haven't had anything I'd call nasty, but getting a bit fed up with people commenting that I'm not really showing, and "oh really, but you haven't even got a bump" when I tell people I'm nearly 18 weeks pg. It even seems to be a hot topic amongst my friends - got a text last night from a friend I've not seen since very early pg saying "how's things, R says you're not showing much yet!". Grrrrr!

Abz great to see another climber on here, although I've been too paranoid to do any since getting pg (in fact I've been pretty useless with exercise all round!) Not into the winter stuff myself though - I leave that to DH, he bounces better than I do!

I have my badge! After standing for an hour and a half yesterday on a packed train to London I went to the office and picked up my badge "baby on board". Such a nightmare journey. On Monday I start my new commute Salisbury to Waterloo London. I should get a seat.. Not looking forward to all those train bathroom breaks.

Your hospital continues to astound me BadmissM. Get your midwife on board and continue to press - most insistently - for a c-section. If they continue to be buggers any chance of moving to a different hospital?

Hey ama its the opposite for me I'm bemoaning my lack of bump and my friends are saying 'what at 19 weeks, you won't show yet be glad'. So don't let people worry you. I've not recognised a kick yet. I tried to spur one on by playing sprog some awful music my husband likes. It didn't work. I'm surprised, I would have kicked me if I were it

Ama I prefer snow to rock, but we're only talking up to Grade II (or vdiff on rock) and NO leading. I love my Spikes - they feel more secure than my own hands and feet. I'm quite sad that my brand new DMM Fly Axes are going to sit in the cupboard for another winter; I bought them last year and then there was no flipping snow

Cheek - I agree with your friends. Your bumps will come. Every woman's body carries pregnancy differently - some bumps are huge, some are small, some expand rapidly, some seemingly sprout overnight. Ultimately its down to body shape, torso length, if you have strong abs, pelvic tilt and other factors you can't change. You know there is a beautiful little baby growing inside you - and that is what counts.

Abzs - I used to do about of climbing - and tried ice climbing too - before having ds1 (dh still does on occasion though more rock than ice nowadays) and dabbled habit after ds1 arrived. I bet you will surprise yourself and fit back into your harness in time. Top tip is recheck your climbing shoes post birth - I found my feet had spread in pregnancy so my old ones which were v comfy before were all of a sudden super uncomfortable.

Sorry youre not feeling well dinky, hope you can rest and put your feet up.

Off to scan in a couple of hours, a bit nervous... Hopefully all will be well and I can relax a bit and attempt to enjoy pregnancy! After that driving to inlaws for the weekend, should be good.

Thanks all re the horrid comment. It was mostly the way it was said but it certainly wasn't very nice. Agree it doesn't help that PG can make your hormones go haywire. I'm defo a bit more snappy at the mo! Ama, grrr, that text sounds like something my friends would do too! I know they're only trying to take an interest and make conversation - and I'm sure some people think it's such a compliment too! I think it doesn't help that we had a little scare just before xmas and it's made me a bit more worried than I might have been otherwise so when somebody says 'err, are you sure there's a baby in there??' I don't really react very well inside!!

Scan today, quite nervous. Still not 100% whether to find out gender! Thinking of others who have theirs today or soon too.

OhGood Largely money, I'd guess. As a PCT they are notoriously tight. Took me 6 years to get referred to a specialist neuro, because was in another PCT and they's have to pay.....

Dinkystinky Midwife has been AWOL for weeks, had a temp one the other day, and even when she's there she isn't bothered much.... they just don't seem to take me seriously. Problem is, next 2 hospitals north don't have maternity units, and the other way is too far if had to go whilst in labour....

Have asked French hospital where I had DD for full maternity notes from last time, as they don't seem to take my word for it, as it 'happened abroad', as if I couldn't understand what was going on....

Badmissm change pct ... Last time (11.5onths ago !) I requested elcs and was refused so changed pct and was granted it

As fate would have it the baby had some issues which meant a natural delivery would not have been possible but these were only discovered as I delivered .... V spooky but v glad I dugu heels in

iclaudius I would, but we live in the middle of nowhere, and our PCT covers such an enormous area, the next one would be 50+ miles away.... makes it really difficult. Have considered going to Manchester and hanging around til I give birth, or London....

You don't have realistic 'patient choice' where you are, do you BadMissM? My SIL is doing her GP training around there and while based at Barrow is actually travelling all over Westmorland.

It's similar up here, the other hospital with maternity services in our health board is 1.5 hours away in clear traffic.

Nope, afraid not.... Abzs You've got the right PCT... I've only got the choice of the RLI realistically. I'm too high risk for Kendal and Barrow is all over the place atm.

Patient choice is great in principle, but in practice if there aren't enough 'providers' in safe distance, it's useless as a concept.

Yes, I don't think SIL is particularly enamoured with Barrow...

BadMissM, that's a shame..it's difficult when you don't realistically have a choice. I hope it all works out ok for you in the end.

Had scan and all looks fine! Still hadn't decided when we got there whether to find out the gender so decided to just leave it!! Am just happy baby looks ok but can appreciate why others may want to find out (and a teeny weeny bit of me wishes I had but I know that's just me doing my 'grass is greener' thinking!!).

Wow sounds like some of you are quite hardcore climbers...I had just started trying to learn how to boulder a few months before got PG and was really enjoying it.

Glad your scans went well Ohgood and BB. Hope you had a good scan Esme. BadmissM - I would seriously consider Manchester or another large city with a full capacity hospital if I were you : if you manage to get an ELCS a few weeks before due date then hopefully travel in labour won't be a reality.

Dont know if it's a bit early to be thinking about this or not but is anyone using washable nappies?

In terms of weight I've put on about 3kg since the beginning, but it comes and goes. I'm trying to to worry too much, just doing my best to eat healthier as I am also hungry ALL the time.

I wondered if anyone could give me advice or personal experiences. Maybe if vineger is around you might know more? I'm low risk for downs, but have to have a doppler of my placenta at my scan next tuesday, because my HCG levels were high (about 3.5MOM) My papp a was on the low side of normal at 0.7 but the nuchal was really small. Does anyone have any experience? My downs risk is still low, and I wouldn't have amnio anyway, but just wondered what this might mean, if anything. I'm not feeling too stressed, but trying not to google!

I'm thinking about it Ginger. I'm a bit worried having read the poosplosion thread in Chat yesterday though I was looking at the type where you just pop in a disposable insert but now wondering if the cotton cover wouldn't get a bit pooey/wet? Also I'll be at home for the first year then back at work - are choldminders/nurseries ok with washables?

Devil - you only really get poonamis when the baby is exclusively bf or btlf - as soon as they start solids their pools become a lot less runny ( except when they have upset tummies).

Umm I'm not sure about childminders/nurseries i think if you had the ready shaped ones (the fluffy version of huggies) then probably wouldn't be a problem, my sister was completely in reusables when she was in nursery and they seemed fine that I was aware of
