Congrats Totally - hope the return to work goes smoothly!

Shiv - good on you for pointing out the woman's mistake.

BeanstalkandBump · 06/02/2013 16:53

Don't believe it! Two posts income day after saying I couldn't keep up! So pleased to hear all the talk of movement.
I am certain I have been feeling bubba for a while but my mw sort of poo pooed it today like I was mad to think that this early.
Sad she's not the same as my last midwife Sad just seems really impersonal.
Anyway, am 17+ 3 and already narrowed names down to two for a blue and one for a pink Grin plenty time to change but think we're pretty set on them. The boys' names are quite different so good if he really isn't one or the other on arrival. Strange...... Already feel like its another boy.
Will try adding myself to scan list but pants on my iPad still Blush

MrsRoss26 · 06/02/2013 16:56

Congrats totally! Fantastic news.Smile

Shiv brilliant, what an obnoxious cowbag. Give her the stink eye til she gets off!

Told work today. Thankfully most were completely surprised, so it's been really lovely all day.

MightBeMad · 06/02/2013 17:20

Congrats totally!! and good luck.

Well done Shiv - hope that made you feel better Grin

Glad work were okay Mrs Ross.

There was someone else I was going to mention too but my memory is letting me down Blush

TomDaleysTrunks · 06/02/2013 17:21

Good on you Shiv! What a cah.

Massive congratulations totally. What great news. When do you start?

I've got an exhausted toddler on my hands after a busy day at crèche. Need to keep her going for an hour to avoid a 5am wake up call. Then I'm slobbing in front of the TV with a crappy frozen pizza. DH took me for a driving lesson in my new car - test in one week. Eek! Didn't go too badly bearing in mind I'm used to driving a diesel and my new fiesta is a petrol.

TomDaleysTrunks · 06/02/2013 17:21

Oh and am glad work was pleased Mrsr

BadMissM · 06/02/2013 17:31

shelley72 Hotel with room service sounds wonderful!

I'm only on No 2, but with such a gap (14 years) finding it difficult to beleieve, I think....

Elliejjtiny I know, I used to read works of English Lit and play nice things to DD in the womb...too knackered this time!!

Dinky emblosion I was a DD, am about an FF so far! Went from a C to a DD with DD and never went back! Wish they would make nice maternity bras in ludicrously big sizes (that I can afford!)

devilonasideboard Have felt what I thought was movement, but as I have an anterior placenta, don't know if it is or just my gurgling stomach!

totallyeggflipped TomDaleysTrunks Good luck for the interview!

Dinky Blimey, at that rate my boobs will be so big I'll fall over when the milk comes in!

Bigbelly4 I'm not wild about my midwife....she turns out not to have done half of the stuff she was supposed to, I found out last week. She also told me to book with her when she was on holiday, so got someone I'd never seen.

BB01 Where are you getting La Roche Posay here? Used to love it in France but can't find it here...

I went through spotty phase about 3 weeks ago, but gone now....

Totally Yay for the job!

shiv Would have done the same....

beanstalk My MW not brilliant....just doesn't listen. Wouldn't have been tested for pg diabetes if had been just her...turns out I have it, early. I asked her twice for a test...

Me... been to physio today. Told me I have PGP (SPD), gave me a support belt, and said can do nothing for my other chronic pain (had to come off of meds), and that Hydrotherapy pools too hot for pg women...um, wouldn't a bath be too hot then? Odd...

Got pram today... is great. Feel like kid with new toy!

BB01 · 06/02/2013 18:27

BadMissM, it was from Boots.

Also forgot to say before I like Ren Clearcalm serum too although it's a bit pricey

Cutandstick · 06/02/2013 18:44

Well done supershiv! Unleash the rage!!

Skin wise, I wash my face with aqueous cream, which is cheap and a great moisturer, use simple cleanser in the evening and have witch hazel for spots, face is fine. I do have lots of red marks or vein things on y upper chest though - boo!

Saw doc on Tuesday after the pharmacist said she though I had chicken pox... I 'have a virus' -in other words, itchy spots with no known cause. As long as they no problem to bump, I'll happily scratch away (and unnerve everyone near me Wink!)

photographerlady · 06/02/2013 18:46

Poor super. Trains and hormones are not going to mix well for me the next coming months.

Speaking of hormones... My DH told me last night his company is closing, and making him redundant. I know things will be fine because he much prefers freelance but hormones have made me cry about it all day. I feel awful and unsupportive, as its not like we be worse off really I'm just an emotional round bag of hormones.

orangebubbles · 06/02/2013 18:49

Congrat's totally.

Had 16 wk MW apt this afy (different one to last time, she's non offensive, but the mw equivalent of beige Grin ) All fine, heard HB... one of the best sounds.

Huffpot · 06/02/2013 19:03

Egg Congratulations!

BadMissM you are very brave - I'm dreading night feeds already with a 2 & 3 year old! On a positive note you have a great help/baby sitter Grin

I'll look up my scan date when I get a chance and add it - its in March

VinegarDrinker · 06/02/2013 19:13

TomDaley glad it went well, was it a Cons interview?

Egg - fab stuff! Fantastic news. Are you having any kind of phased return? Anaesthetics scares and impresses me in equal measures!

MiniPenguinMaker · 06/02/2013 19:32

I got made redundant today. Totally in a panic (I'm going to be a single mum) and quite upset, but life has to go on and hopefully it'll all feel slightly less awful tomorrow.

17+0

photographerlady · 06/02/2013 19:40

Mini -hugs- so sorry to hear I hope tomorrow is much better for you.

TotallyEggFlipped · 06/02/2013 19:47

Mini that really sucks. I hope tomorrow things feel a bit less negative.

BadMiss I'm in awe of your multiple replies posting!!

Vinegar - yes. I have a month to get up to speed. Fortunately they're desperate, so don't seem to mind that I'll be finishing early.

flyingsprocket · 06/02/2013 19:48

Big hugs mini

Lols at shiv and the rage, some people leave their brains at home when it comes to public transport

TomDaleysTrunks · 06/02/2013 19:56

mini poor you, what a horrible day. Have you got anything in the pipeline?

photographer crap news. Sorry to hear that, not surprised you are feeling glum. Is there plenty of freelance?

totally phased return will be fab, will soon come flooding back. Can't believe there are three medical bods on here.

vinegar no, need to do some academia.

DH is working late tonight so he did the supermarket shop this morning. He bought me the world's hottest pizza. I'm dying! Might HAVE to dig out the ice cream!

specialknickers · 06/02/2013 20:06

mini and photographer so sorry to hear your bad redundancy news. I'm sending you both big Thanks.

I've had tears here today as well. To cut a long story short, after about 6 weeks of arguing about it, this weekend DH and I finally decided on and bought a new (second hand, but new to us and we spent a massive chunk of our savings on it) car. 10 minutes driving it today I was in agony. It made my pelvic girdle pain so much worse than our trusty old car that we've just got rid of. Sad. Spoke to DH when I was still in loads of pain and I couldn't stop crying.... I feel so bad for him. He's having such a hard time at work and working 15 hour days, he didn't need to hear that the 7 grand car he'd just spent all his money on is un drivable. Poor poor DH....

CitizenOscar · 06/02/2013 20:32

Sorry about your redundancy news Mini. Was it a shock or expected? Hugs & good wishes.

CitizenOscar · 06/02/2013 20:40

My scan is 5 March if someone can add me to the list? I'm always on my phone.

I never see the same MW from one appointment to the next (was the same in my last pregnancy too) but they all seem nice enough & seem to take on board any concerns. Last time I got worried about lack of movement at about 26wks and the MW sent me straight off for a scan.

Tis a very fast-moving thread! What a chatty bunch Grin

SundaySunshine · 06/02/2013 20:44

Congrats egg on great job news, and good luck tom hope you get good news too.

mini poor you, try not to panic. I hope you get something lined up soon.

dinky good luck for scan tomorrow. Enjoy seeing your little one again Smile

Thanks to all for thoughts today , luckily I wAs busy at work which kept my mind from wondering too much; also little belly bean put on a great show all day giving me reassuring thumps every ten mins or so, as if s/he knew I needed a bit of TLC today Smile.

SundaySunshine · 06/02/2013 20:47

speacial how frustrating about the car, would a strategically placed cushion help at all?

BadMissM · 06/02/2013 20:47

Mini DH is saying questions to ask them to make sure everything is done properly and they respect your rights:

How long have you worked there?
What are terms of redundancy?
How long is the notice period?
How many employees are being made redundant?
How many employees do they have?
Reasons for redundancy?
Is it Last in First Out?
Are they honouring your maternity rights in any way? What are they proposing to do in lieu of them?

Maybe check with a free legal advice place or Law Centre that everything is being done properly, if you don't have a union (and in my experience, even if you do...)

Been there on the single mum front, as is a lot easier if you know what you'll have and what you'll be doing Thanks

MrsMillions · 06/02/2013 20:55

Hi everyone

Just caught up on this thread after a 2 week long haul work trip and 10 days since trying to get back to normality at home and work.

Belly grew lots whilst I was away so bought some maternity clothes at the weekend - like another poster, took advantage of a trip to the big smoke, recommend hitting Topshop Oxford Circus early on a Saturday before it gets too busy. The jeans are great, tights amazing (although nowhere seems to have more than one pair of black opaques in my size, so picking up odd pairs here and there), very pleased with a dress too. Tops are more difficult, not filling out mat tops yet but too big for many of my normal ones. People who know definitely think it's a bump not pies, but depending on what I'm wearing it wouldn't necessarily be clear to people who don't.

Wheeled a few prams at John Lewis and going proper shopping this weekend. DH loved the iCandy peach but I've said we've got to test properly first. My parents have offered to buy something "proper" so will give them some options for that after our shopping trip. We've also decided we need to replace our sofas so that's another expense but will be worth doing and easier before baby than after.

Our scan is 22nd Feb, we won't be finding out the gender. Felt a little flutter in bed at the weekend after a day walking round London but nothing since. We think we have a girls name sorted but are really stuck on boys.

Sunday I'm in a similar position to you, MMC2 would have been due next week. Feel ok as this one is progressing well but am also glad of pancake day (yum!) and valentines to distract me.

I'm a back sleeper normally but now trying to sleep on my side and sleeping very badly as a result. Going to pick up a maternity pillow at the weekend as I'll try anything to get some decent sleep.

Have also been suffering with itchy belly but picked up some bump friendly shower gel, bubble bath and body cream that has improved things. Love that they're included in "Boots parenting club 10 points per £ on baby products" offer.

Think that's it....
