janey1234 · 29/01/2013 20:00

Hi bunny! Yes, we're very keen to be joined by more elderberries. Her ' 'studying' Wink

Doctors waste of time.

Re shoulder - said some doctors would say a steroid injection would be ok when pg, others not. I asked about physio and he said to ask my midwife. He said I could try ibuprofen gel but that some doctors don't recommend it when pg?!

Re blood clots in throat in morning he said it was 'probably' because I'm pregnant.

Helpfully he was the GP I complained about in writing 18 months ago! Argh.

HazleNutt · 29/01/2013 20:06

wow Janey that was indeed useless, you could have treated...well, not treated, yourself just as well and saved time. Can you go see some other doc? Surely there's something they can do.

Rache1S · 29/01/2013 20:08

Hi Bunny, nice to see you. I am still subtly lurking on the other thread in the hope of some BFP's very soon. Viv is hilarious!
I can't wait until you all get over here into fat club Grin

That's pants RE the Doctor Janey Sad Yours sounds almost as bad as Dr Google.

Bunnygirlie · 29/01/2013 20:38

I really really wanna be a fatty!!! Grin

Are you all well and pregnancys going ok? Have you all had your 20 week scans yet? I forget how far gone you are!

janey1234 · 29/01/2013 20:54

Think we're all still waiting! I am 17 weeks and beginning to get the fear...

And yes all well, apart from being unable to move my left arm at all, and spending my mornings coughing up blood clots! Attractive...

Blimey it all kicked off on your thread earlier... What was the banned IABU thread?! And what were thise invading ladies talking about?!

Nice of you to ask Bunny, I am 19 weeks tomorrow and having a little girl (had a private scan). The proper 20 week scan is on 11th Feb. I'm getting a bit nervous but it seems to be a given that the whole of pregnancy is one big worry.

FX you're getting fat very soon Grin

Purplemonster · 29/01/2013 21:07

Ooh we've got a visitor! hi bunny! Can't wait until you all come over and join fat club over here.
Very impressed with how far you've all got thinking about names, every time I try to talk to his lordship about it he says we'll think about it after 20 week scan so there are hopefully less names to go through, he just won't discuss it yet. Spoilsport. Though I have to say I made him agree before we started ttc that I get final say on names, he doesn't care so much so it's pretty much my choice, trust me, it's better this way, his sons name is uughhh (IMO). My tastes are very traditional and classic so would probably be considered boring by many.

HazleNutt · 29/01/2013 21:15

I'm 19+4 now, but due to holidays, having next scan only on 19th of Feb. Loooong time to wait..

BraveLilBear · 30/01/2013 09:37

Gosh Hazle that must feel like forever... I'm one of the babies of the bunch (ahem) and only 15+2 so have until 5th of March for next scan.

Hello Bunny! How's all that studying going?! Wink Really hope we get some more grads soon...

Janey grrrr at the useless doc. How utterly infuriating. At least having a poorly shoulder means you can't punch him as hard perhaps that was his thinking?

Hope you find a solution soon.

And Hazle Elodie is my secret favourite name! Followed closely by Eloise and Amelie. Not sure of the attraction of French names but I think it's because they are so classy and sound so nice - plus, thinking about it, my first name is actually French, so it wouldn't be that leftfield Wink

The Elisa thing would be a challenge though - fine if you stay over there for a long while, otherwise I fear you'll spend your life/she would spend her life correcting silly English speakers.

HazleNutt · 30/01/2013 09:51

I agree Brave, so many pretty French names and considering that I actually live in France, no reason not to use them. But even if we stay here, I do want something sufficiently international - my own name is common enough in some countries, but English-speakers cannot spell or pronounce it, so still a total pain.

BraveLilBear · 30/01/2013 10:21

Lol - I have a friend called Leanne who went to Spain for a year as part of her studies. Most people in the English-speaking world can master Leanne these days, but in Spain she got everything from Lean (as in the meat) to Lion.

Rache1S · 30/01/2013 10:47

Morning ladies, how is everyone feeling?

I also really like Elodie but it gives me a similar problem to Elise with that 'ee' sound I could do with avoiding. I will see if I am brave enough to have the converation with DH soon because no doubt he will veto any name I even vaguely like and it will solve the problem. Confused He is also in the throws of a post-holiday bout of man flu so will undoubtedly be in exactly the right frame of mind for such a chat. Wink
How is it that my immune system is supressed but he has been ill practically every other week since I fell preggers while I have had nothing? He says it's the stress of living with me. Smile

I am in quite a good mood today after finally braving the scales first thing. Recommended weight gain seems to vary from site to site but the average for 19 weeks at my stats seems to be between 6 and 11 pounds. I have gained 6/7 pounds so I am 'normal' but at the lighter end of normal so this has made me happy. I will probably turn into hungry horace next week....

HazleNutt · 30/01/2013 11:00

Yesterday I figured out that my weight gain was actually just the difference between doc's scales and my own, so I've just gained 2 kilos since the beginning. So how come my body is twice the size??

I'm otherwise fine but in a bad mood and irritated for no particular reason whatsoever - I wonder if this is the mood swings we're supposed to be having now?

Rache1S · 30/01/2013 11:06

I didn't go on my own scales before the Midwife weighed me so I've had to kinda guess the starting weight on my own scales but I had definitely put a bit on by the time I was weighed at 8 weeks. 2 kilos is not very much at all! Could you be losing it from other areas and shifting it to baby? Have you suddenly got really slim ankles? Grin

I am irritable but I had just put this down to DH and his cold and the massive god damned mess he has made since getting back from holiday.

HazleNutt · 30/01/2013 11:47

Grin no ankles as chubby as ever. Belly and boobs massive and have also developed a double chin, so those 2 kilos have certainly distributed themselves all over.

I have tons of first world problems that are totally ridiculous but making me Angry at the moment. Like - I can't decide what car to buy. Almost did, but garage offered a totally ridiculous price for DHs current, so will look for something else. But what?

Why does my cleaning lady have to use 8, I mean eight different cleaning cloths every time? Yes, different one for kitchen and bathroom I understand, but 8?

I still haven't got my passport. Can travel with the current one, except that I would be quite worried that someone might decide to get busy and cancel it, as the new one has been already issued, just not reached me.

Stupid French insurance companies say that it's not possible to get travel cancellation insurance any more, as the trip is in less than 30 days - in Estonia you can get it 2 days before. But here - oh no, ce n'est pas possible! (I only need it for the first flight cancellation, as I got that for my airmiles, so the credit card insurance would not cover)

Boss has just sent me a meeting invite for 1,5 hours to discuss a matter where there is nothing to discuss, just waiting for the other parties to get back to us. But she just loooooves to make tons of unneccessary fuss over everything. Oh the fun.

So I'm sitting here being pissed off at everything. I've decided to blame hormones.

How's that for a moan?Grin

BraveLilBear · 30/01/2013 12:42

Woah, top quality moanage Hazle! All sound like completely reasonable whinges to me Smile

I'm actually not being too annoyed today, bizarrely, think this stems from first ahem action in nigh-on 6 weeks on Monday night, which resulted in OH making a really nice tea for me last night, ready when I got in! He also had a huge tidy up and was generally lovely all night. Connection? I think so Wink

Kinda busy at work, too, but have had high-ranking people telling me they 'fully-support my suggested course of action' this week, which is both novel and a nice surprise, and told my big boss Monday bout my summer departure and he was really nice, and again, supportive.

Re weight gain...My app (American, I'm Expecting) says i should have gained 2-3kg by now. I lost about three quarters of a stone due to morning sickness and tummy bug at new year, and, as I haven't thrown up in about a week, I'm almost back to what I was before I started, about 1kg down by my scales.

Fingers still quite skinny so I think it's mostly abdominal and a bit of boobage. Will ask MW on Monday about if I'm doing ok as it's hard to know!

Rache1S · 30/01/2013 13:59

Hazle as moans go, that's up there with the best of them. Grin I wish I had the problem of how many cloths my cleaning lady uses as it's me and I use 2. Sad If I go back to work full time with a baby we're definitely getting one!

Ah the car dilemma. I know naff all when it comes to cars but I have subscribed to Which? in order to read their reviews on baby gear and they also do car reviews. Their Best Buys in the 4x4 category are (in order);

BMW X5
BMW X6
Audi Q7
Mercedes-Benz GL
VW Touareg
Mercedes-Benz M-class
BMW X1
Porsche Cayenne
BMW X3

All of these cost a fortune to run and are all really expensive, but that seems to be a given with 4x4's. I think we are I am hoping to pick one of these up second hand at a more reasonable price. Or if DH gets his way we will be cramming 2 adults, a baby, a 7 year old, a pram and a big dog into a sporty little 2 seater.

I can't see any logic in the French insurance 30 day cut off? Surely it doesn't matter how far in advance you buy it?

Brave my DH is blaming lack of action for his near-constant illnesses. Since getting PG my libido has gone through the floor but there is currently loads of housework to do so maybe I should consider treating him tonight Grin

HazleNutt · 30/01/2013 14:25

True Rach, they all cost a ton. Although we could buy the car from Germany, quite a bit cheaper there, but still (Germany in my case is 5 minutes away). So I'm rather looking at the Japanese ones.

At the moment I can't even decide if we need another 4x4 or should get something smaller. I already have a Toyota RAV4 which I think is an excellent car, so one option would just be to get another one of those, or a Honda C-RV or Nissan Qashqai.
Then again, we only need one big car that fits the baby, all the stuff and 2 dogs, and the other could in principle be a bit smaller one. But on the other hand again, once you get used to a 4x4, it's so difficult to go back to a normal one, feels like your butt is scraping the road and you can't see anything from so low. Grin

So maybe something cute and sporty..or possibly just a smaller 4x4 or crossover like Nissan Juke or something..but if the price difference is not that big, why not a full sized one..see, can't decide.

Well luckily we both still have a few months to choose.

And yes, money spent on the cleaning lady is certainly a good investment! In France it's also tax deductible.

janey1234 · 30/01/2013 14:43

God I know nothing about cars, it's like you're both speaking a foreign language! All I know is my rubbish 206CC (that I bought from new 10 years ago) is on the way out, and waaaay too small for me, DP and a baby. Totally leaving it up to DP as I really do have limited interest - as long as it gets me from A to B, I don't care.

Good moaning earlier Hazle. Not sure it's up to my standards, but nice try Wink

I went to see the nurse at work today and she's referred me to the work private GP tomorrow - and given me half an hour appt as she said the shoulder and blood thing need properly looking into. Thank goodness for work having an in-house surgery (albeit not a free one). He used to be an orthopedic surgeon so hopefully he'll know what he's talking about with regards to my shoulder; it's absolute bloody agony today.

janey1234 · 30/01/2013 14:48

Oh - and re a cleaner - it is without the best money I spend each week. Plus mine is totally and utterly amazing. Found out yesterday though that she is now two months preggers - pleased for her but argh that means (depending on when she stops coming) that I will have to cope on my own with a house AND a baby! Selfish woman Wink

OP posts:
HazleNutt · 30/01/2013 14:50

Oh fx Janey that they manage to sort something out.

But no, can't leave buying cars up to DH. His last one was bought after he saw one on the street and said "Oh that's so cool, I want one!" Honestly, I can understand if you buy shoes like that, but cars? Grin So obviously it turns out (imho, he likes it) that the car in question (Jeep) is a pain to drive, guzzles gas like mad and totally not practical for neither babies nor dogs, so I do not want to leave him the RAV and drive the Jeep myself. And our village doesn't have public transport besides the school bus, so we do need 2 cars.

Hm Merc B-class is actually very reasonably priced in Germany, might be an option.

Moaning helped, feeling better now.

janey1234 · 30/01/2013 14:57

Ha, that's PRECISELY how I would choose a car. Do I like the look of it? I think now I'd want to see the size of the boot too, due to prams etc, but that's genuinely all I'd be interested in. Hence I'm staying out of it.

OP posts:
HazleNutt · 30/01/2013 15:00

Rach what does Which? say about the B-class? Won't allow me to register as I'm not a UK resident Confused
