(By hello all, I guess I mean hello hazle. Hopefully the others will join us soon...)

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Fairydogmother · 01/03/2013 11:43

a friend of mine is now 35 weeks and shes moved onto 3 day weeks. but she will only get smp when shes off so already money is an issue

BraveLilBear · 01/03/2013 13:04

The other thing to consider Rache is that if you get signed off with a pg related problem anywhere in the last 11 weeks before EDD, ML kicks in immediately from that date (and can't be changed).

BraveLilBear · 01/03/2013 14:14

Hmmm seems I've been outed at work. Girls from the wider team have been coming up to me all day congratulating me... Have no idea if it's because my bump is more obvious than I thought or if someone's spilled the proverbial.

Nice that they're being nice, but feels really weird too! Confused

MotherOfCleo · 01/03/2013 14:17

Can I ask a random question? When did you guys tell your parents? ours don't know we were ttc so its down to us to bring it up, I don't really want 20 questions but I do kind of want to tell them. Confused

Also where did fairy go? Hope she's ok!

HazleNutt · 01/03/2013 14:17

Oh yes, the hair is a nice perk -DH always complained about all my hair in the shower and just recently said that he appreciates I've started to clean it up more often now. Had to inform him that no I haven't really, I'm just not losing any Grin

HazleNutt · 01/03/2013 14:27

Mother, I happened to have my 12 week scan just before Xmas, so we put the scan pic in parents' Christmas cards.

BraveLilBear · 01/03/2013 14:55

Lol - me too Hazle, tho I also had to cut my long hair after morning sickness and illness left it in a total state, which helps. After early hair mankiness, is now great tho Smile

Mother I wound up in hospital at 8/9 weeks just before Christmas for an emergency op and my mum came up to visit - had to tell her then because the whole ward knew and didn't want it being blurted out. Then told my dad by phone the night I got out of hospital. Had been planning to tell them at Christmas anyway, at about 9/10 weeks. I swore them all to strict secrecy, no online mentions etc and they all abided by it.

Fairydogmother · 01/03/2013 15:01

me? or another fairy lol

i'm grand if its me!

i'm telling my parents this weekend - bit nervous

MotherOfCleo · 01/03/2013 15:14

I'm so early I dont know whether to tell them or not Confused it's my bday on 15 March and I'm thinking we could tell them then.

MotherOfCleo · 01/03/2013 15:14

Glad you're all good fairy Grin

Fairydogmother · 01/03/2013 15:42

I have a complicated relationship with my parents so this will be tough for me. Think I'd still rather they knew in case something happened etc

Purplemonster · 01/03/2013 15:43

We told our parents immediately because I didn't want to keep it from my Mum and knew if anything went wrong I would want her support anyway and so only seemed fair to tell the PIL as well!

Purplemonster · 01/03/2013 15:44

It did take me a wee bit longer to get around to telling my Dad but then I don't really like him and we only communicate by email about twice a year!

Fairydogmother · 01/03/2013 15:45

My OH's comes home from holiday tonight so he'll tell him tomorrow. His mom died when he was only 9 so there's just his dad. I think he'll be (quietly) over the moon

MotherOfCleo · 01/03/2013 16:12

I'm really close to my folks and brother and I think once they get over the shock they will be thrilled. My oh's only got his mum, grandpa and brother who would also be a tad shocked but I think his grandpa will be chuffed. Cant tell anyone for 10 days while my oh is in canada though, although surely Im allowed to tell me besty? That doesnt count right Wink

Fairydogmother · 01/03/2013 16:21

I've told my best friend! And my best friend in work too lol.

Anybody that I know can't keep a secret is def out!

Rache1S · 01/03/2013 17:12

We told close family and friends at about 6 weeks. TBH it took me the first few weeks to get my head around it myself so it was nice to get my own thoughts together first. We weren't particularly bothered about waiting until 12 weeks because we only told the people we would need to lean on if the worst happened.

Most other people found out at Christmas when I was about 13/14 weeks and was 'outed' on Facebook. If I had wanted to I probably could have got to 20 weeks without most people knowing as I didn't really have a bump until then although I'm sure my suddenly not drinking would have raised many eyebrows.

I had to tell a few more people than I otherwise would have done at work at about 7 weeks as the MS became pretty obvious, but the people in my department were really good about keeping it to themselves and some people in the rest of the business are only just finding out now.

Making the announcement is a very individual thing and there are no rights or wrongs about when is the right time to do it.

I have had a chat to my boss about ML this afternoon and he intends to cover me from May onwards and is happy for me to go off whenever after that so that's one less thing to worry about. I think I might tell them I will work until 37 weeks if everything is ok.

MotherOfCleo · 01/03/2013 17:19

all things going well I think i'll tell close family around my birthday, I'm having a meal with 6 friends the next weekend too so will need my best mate and bro to cover up for my not drinking Wink

Also my OH will be back so we can do it together, plus it still doesnt feel real to me yet.

Rache1S · 01/03/2013 17:29

It does take a while for the news to sink in properly Mother. My head was well and truely up my backside for the first few weeks!

Purplemonster · 01/03/2013 18:52

Tbh I don't hunk it REALLY sank in for me until the 12 week scan! Then I had to think 'nope, definitely not my imagination, really real actual baby'

MotherOfCleo · 01/03/2013 18:54

I feel like that too, thats why I thought telling my folks might make it more real.

Fairydogmother · 01/03/2013 18:59

Just had an epic fail tonight. In the supermarket with a tonne of shopping - all scanned through the self service till and I go to find my purse.

Not there

O dear god the shame!

Purplemonster · 01/03/2013 19:03

Never mind Fairy, you can just claim it's 'baby brain' that's what I do occasionally even though its nothing to do with the baby and I'm clearly just being dozy

Fairydogmother · 01/03/2013 19:05

I swear my brain has melted lol. Stupid thing was I nearly burst into tears and I never do that! I also forgot what the word for trolley was so I stood there like a complete idiot mumbling and going red!

O for a huge g&t lol

HazleNutt · 01/03/2013 19:14

I'm 24 weeks and while I've been shopping for baby clothes and stuff (bought one of those slings today. DH tried it out with a cat instead of baby. Cat was not amused), I still find it difficult to imagine that in just a few months, there will be another human living with us.
