Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

true bood i'm sure our granny's and mammy's eat all the things we aren't 'aloud' too.

aww - keep them stored up :)

Bunnychan · 03/02/2013 11:57

Morning ladies,
Quick question. I have downloaded an app to track weight gain in pregnancy as I just wanted to monitor it. I'm not trying to loose at all and in fact, I eat like a horse. I'm just going with what body is telling me and that's not always healthy lol...especially the sweeties :-) But, the app is saying I've gained 3Ib less than I should have done at this point. Do I worry? I genuinely can't eat anymore!!! I eat loads x

berri · 03/02/2013 13:42

I was the same bunny - until the last couple of weeks I wasn't even on the graph for the one I looked at! But I've put on 2lb this week and have now gone into the minimum bracket. I'm just guessing I'll put it on at the end rather than the beginning!
The doc has been taking my weight and measuring my bump regularly as I'm sure yours has - and all is fine Smile

I think I've put on 11 or 12 lbs now and I'm 27+3.

Have a google for a few more charts/graphs as they are all slightly different - which one is your app?

Bunnychan · 03/02/2013 13:52

Thanks berri- it's called 'weight gain calculator'. I've gain a little over half a stone so far and I'm 24+3. I haven't been weighed since my first scan or measured yet but I'm seeing the doc next week for 25 week app. I'm just surprised as I thought I had gained more. It sounds silly, but it worried me when I said I was 3lb under x

SevenReasonsToSmile · 03/02/2013 14:00

bunny unless you were underweight to begin with I really wouldn't worry, I've still only put on 4lbs. I haven't been 'officially' weighed since my booking appt, as was the same in my previous pregnancies. I think the quality of what you're eating is more important than how much you gain tbh, especially if there were no concerns with baby's size at your scan.

milk I believe my mums generation were actually told how good liver was for them during pregnancy because of its high levels of iron, which I guess would make sense if it were the safe variety. Thankfully I don't like it anyway, except in pâté which I am missing!

Hope everyone is having a good weekend. I made scones this morning and I've cleaned out the guinea pigs, which I'll soon be too big for as it requires leaning over the top of the hutch. Now getting warm again with a coffee.

beaver33 · 03/02/2013 16:31

bunny I do sometimes think these things are destined to make us worry - what's most important it what's normal for you, and that the baby is progressing normally.

I'm lucky in that I've never in my life given two hoots about my weight (mostly, I admit, because it rarely fluctuates and I'm lucky enough to have a good metabolism and a ravenous appetite) but it means I don't have scales at home and can't check. Not been weighed since booking-in.

Feeling lazy today. It's so cold outside so am tucked up on the sofa watching the rugby. Feeling mercifully calm, dinner is already made and I have a trashy novel on the go. Perfect.

25+6

rachywhite83 · 03/02/2013 16:51

Pram purchased today. How real it's all getting now :s

Artigene · 03/02/2013 17:15

I can't believe how little weight many of you have gained! I'm sure it's healthy and fine and in fact good for you, the baby will get the nutrition it needs as long as you eat sensibly. I'm 25 weeks today and 1stone 10lbs heavier. I hate it, hate, hate, hate. I will gain over 3 stone by the end no doubt. I don't eat badly although I do eat a lot to feed my insatiable appetite but no cakes or sugar, only skimmed milk, no carbs after lunch and loads of veg. Cheese is my downfall, I can't resist it and apparently my body likes to hoard it around my thigh area! Oh and there was the Haagan Dass last night too...

Boodstress · 03/02/2013 19:25

I eat normally (as when not pregnant) with a few treats every now and again and put on 2 stone with pregnancy - I'm on course to do the same this time. I don't put on weight anywhere except bump and have big babies. Anywhere from 1-2 Ib a week is normal from now so I won't sweat it. Art I know it's frustrating but it sound like that's just the way your body reacts to pregnancy. Plus Sounds like you are being ultra careful as well!

lollypopsicle · 03/02/2013 20:05

art I'm the very same and have put on about the same and I hate it Sad usually an 8/10 but my backside and thighs are huge. this happened last pregnancy but more so in the last tri. I am determined not to let my weight get out of control. I have 2 weddings coming up so bought a Tiffany rose dress that looks fab on the model but hideous on meEnvy . clung in all the wrong places, I felt so fat. It really depresses me. I'm swapping for a different style so hopefully i can find something a bit more flattering.

Artigene · 03/02/2013 20:15

Its horrid isn't it Lolly. I was a size 10 before and feel huge now. With my DC1 I put on 5 bloody stone!!! To be fair a lot of that was water retention due to pre-eclampsia and I lost over 3 stone in labour but still. With DC2 I put on 3 stone exactly and I think this will be the same. I loose it each time but I still hate it, and I hate the first months after giving birth before the final weight has shifted. Are you tall? I am nearly 5'11'' and a lot of my taller friends say they put on a lot more weight when pregnant. I wonder whether there is anything in that.

Bunnychan · 03/02/2013 20:21

Sorry ladies!!! Didn't mean to make anyone feel bad about weight gain!
My bump is feeling really stretched and achy tonight.. I can't get comfortable. Bet I'm going through a growth spurt..again x

milkandribena · 03/02/2013 20:51

oh rachy what one did you get ?

lolly have you tried ASOS? i'm now a convert to their maternity range.

I've made the decision not to even think about my weight (I don't when not pregnant so not about to start now) but I have no idea how you can drink skimmed milk artigen it's not milk ! :P But then I am a salt and dairy fiend.

lollypopsicle · 03/02/2013 21:19

I do have a couple of bits from asos, milk which are great but wanted something a bit fancy for these weddings as 1 is going to be uber posh and the other is sisinlaw so I'm going to be on official photos for years to come. I've been agonising about what to wear for months Shock
art I'm 5ft 7" so not esp tall. OK interesting theory though.

Don't worry bunny I'm just jealousGrin there's an interesting thread on the pregnancy forum about weight gain. some women on there reckon they actually lose weight when pg. lucky cows think everyone is different and I wouldn't take your app too literally. You're not that far off anyway. I reckon I could lose 3lb on the loo!Blush

lollypopsicle · 03/02/2013 21:21

don't know where the 'OK' came from!?!?

Bunnychan · 03/02/2013 21:39

Haha! lolly! I had a mcdonald's tonight so that's probably helped me gain it :-) x

Boodstress · 03/02/2013 22:07

lolly my friend just gave me a pile of maternity clothes today with a gorgeous Tiffany rose dress & two pairs of pregnancy spanx which she swore by and she (by her own admission) puts on a lot of additional weight in pregnancy. I never even knew such a thing existed. Delighted with all the stuff Grin

lollypopsicle · 03/02/2013 22:22

oooh, that's lucky bood. Spanx is my plan c if the next dress is no good.

berri · 04/02/2013 02:14

Hope you find a lovely dress lolly - I had one from ASOS also when I was pg with DS so keep checking - maybe worth looking on ebay etc as well as someone might have splurged on something special they only wore once?

The weight thing is weird isn't it - it really does seem to go on to everyone in different ways and at different times in the pregnancy! A lot of it is water though so nobody needs to worry about the actual numbers - our docs would be letting us know if anyone was too far in one direction or another.

Luckily my doc hasn't asked my about my chocolate intake, I think I'd have to lie Blush

Hi everyone,

Hope you are all feeling ok.
Thank you for holding my hand with my father being ill. Its not great news, bowel cancer and spread to liver, but you know what, I am trying really hard to be positive and take each day with my family, and just take whatever is thrown at us.
I am very aware also of keeping as calm as I can for the sake of the little one, who is now reminding me every minute of the day that he is here!

It really has made me remember how much I love my family and loved ones...these last few days have just been like being in a dream.

On a lighter note, DP has decided my new name is flumpy, not sure how much I like that, but it must be funny watching me try and roll out of bed- is is so uncomfortable! I too think I am having a major growth spurt.
Had my GTT test this morning, and see midwife next week to discuss results, hoping everything is ok.

I am 27+0...where is the time going?!

MammaBrussels · 04/02/2013 12:17

Oh Betsy, how absolutely shit for you. You do sound like you have the right attitude though. At least your little one gives your father something really positive to focus on, I hope he can draw strength from that.

betsyb75 · 04/02/2013 12:19

Thank you mammaB and it was the first thing my dad said when he saw me, he asked how his future grandson was doing...it really is a comfort x

MammaBrussels · 04/02/2013 12:25

Lolly I had an Isabella Oliver wrap dress that I wore to events while PG with DS. It was smart (and comfortable) and I could dress it up with accessories to poshify it. I also found a site called, IIRC, Babes with Babies did some pretty maternity dresses. I haven't been invited to anything this time around Sad.

MammaBrussels · 04/02/2013 12:28

Betsy it's good that there's something to comfort both of you. ((hugs))
