Hope all is ok artigene. I know it's annoying when those hours are your time but best to get it checked out. Hopefully they've just checked your BP and let you go again.

Hope you get some good news on your dad today betsy.

After a week of terrible sleeping DD slept until 6.20 this morning. She's also much more herself today, though DS has her cold now instead. The builders are here being noisy, but I've discovered the amazingness of lemon curd, yum!

Artigene · 01/02/2013 11:44

Thanks Seven. I haven't made it to the hospital, road works have totally clogged up my part of London. After ages on the bus I wasn't half way there and DD2 needs picking up at 12. She will freak out if its not me DH, the nanny or me who collects her. Have come home and will go in later if swelling not better.

SeaSalt - any more news on your results?

Jen - I will post the cupcake recipe when I have a moment. They were so yummy!

artigene is there a pharmacy near you? Lots of them do free blood pressure checks, you could always then go in if you're blood pressure is high, if not its just likely fluid retention.

wrigglerchick · 01/02/2013 14:12

Hi everyone, I've been lurking for quite a long time now, and thought it was about time to reveal myself and say hi Smile

I'm 26+0 and expecting a boy on 10th May.

Now I've introduced myself I'll try and post a bit more often Grin

Boodstress · 01/02/2013 14:23

Welcome Wriggler. Hope you've had a stress free pregnancy so far. Artigene* hope swelling goes down, put your feet up.
Hate that school run happens at the most tired hour of the day and I've already used up my quota of caffeine for the day. However as they will do a section last week off April I can now say " my baby is coming month after next" hooray Grin

MammaBrussels · 01/02/2013 14:40

Have had the worst day, DS and I are both at home sick. The poor little thing slipped over and smacked his head on the TV cabinet. He's got a really deep cut on the bridge of his nose and the bit between his eyes is all swollen. It's the first time he's cut himself so he was really shocked. We're both really shaken up about it. I feel like the worst mother in the world. Sad

milkandribena · 01/02/2013 17:06

welcome wriggler
:( mamma don't feel bad, kids get in the wars.

thanks roast it did a bit - still angry though, just less so. Thankfully spending the weekend with BF at his and buying things for baby so hopefully that will make me feel better and make him feel better as well. It was just things that some people in his family have been saying and it got back too us and we were not meant to hear it.

hope you get some good news about your dad soon betsy

enjoy nandos lolly i'm jealous

hope everyone else is okay.

MooLL · 01/02/2013 19:57

artigene definately get bp checked out - I remember mine did around week 30 last time but that was pre-eclampsia bp related - sure it isn't that but do get checked out just to be safe and reassure yourself it's just pregnancy related x

beaver33 · 01/02/2013 21:01

So...the rage is getting to me. Last night, I punched a cyclist. He deserved it. I then cried all the way home because punching a cyclist annoyed me so much Blush.

I need actual, clinical help.

25+4

TerracottaPie · 01/02/2013 23:15

Yep, think you win with The Rage there beaver Grin

How did it happen? What did he do? How hard did you hit him?!

TerracottaPie · 01/02/2013 23:25

Bit belated but thanks beaut. The leave in nit stuff made life so much easier! I'm so used to sitting for hours combing and combing, with children who moan but sit still, that I hadn't even considered there may be an alternative way! I re-treat next week and then hopefully we are done with them (well at least until DS and this one get old enough to bring them home from school)

mamma must be a day for DSs and injuries Sad. 13mo, not so steady on his feet, DS fell over and on the way down whacked his face into some CDs on the bookshelf. Cut his lip on the inside with his tooth and outside underneath lip on the CDs/shelf. Lots of blood. Slight panic from me when I thought he might have gone through his lip with his tooth, much crying from him. And an end result of a fat, swollen, blue lip and a probable scar Sad. It is horrible isn't it? But don't feel like you're the worst mother. These things definitely do happen. And I'm learning that compared to my 2 older girls they happen more with DS!

beaver33 · 02/02/2013 10:26

Terra he cut right across me on a green man at a pedestrian crossing - he would've hit me if I hadn't checked for traffic anyway. So I punched him in the arm as he passed me by a whisker and called him all manner of names.

He didn't even blink and carried on Angry....

Wirrawoo · 02/02/2013 11:18

beaver hahahahaha you def win the preg rage prize for yesterday Wink. Stupid cyclist! DP is mad about cycling and when we first met was the epitome of militant fixie urban cyclist dude, but has mellowed a lot with age and now gets as raged as me about bloody inconsiderate cyclists not watching for pedestrians. Must have given you quite a shock, glad you're ok. It's always a bit freaky when you have any angry encounter out in the world, just remember when you get home: a cup of tea solves everything :)

Welcome wriggler nice to (kind of) meet you! Hope you've been having a fine pregnancy thus far.

seven lemon curd... YUM!!!!

artigene hope you managed to get it checked out. Always better to be safe with these things.

milk I totally sympathise! Hope you are feeling better now.

Think the 3rd trimester hormones are starting to kick in. My mood is changing by the second these last few days! Sleep is really interrupted so think I'm a bit sleep deprived and short-tempered due to that and still haven't got a maternity pillow (nearly burst into tears in mamas & papas yesterday when they didn't have any. Wtf?! Crazy pregnant lady!). propped up my leg with 2 pillows this morning and then slept for 2 hours straight so that seems like a good option in the meantime.

Slightly left field question, but we are getting given lots of hand-me-down baby clothes. What sort of Laundry liquid should I wash them with? Anything special?
Also, keep seeing those baby sleeping bags everywhere. Are they suitable for newborns or is that something you use later on?

Boodstress · 02/02/2013 12:52

hi wirra' totally sympathise on the pillow. I actually couldn't sleep without some form of support now.

My freaky dreams are continuing unabated. The last one I went into the boys bedroom and had to wade through thigh high water - doesn't take a first year psychology student to work out I'm apprehensive about another joining the brood.

I think those sleeping bags are from 12 weeks or so. I swaddle mine until then, progressing from full swaddle to half swaddle but I know that's not for everyone. They don't get on the move before 12 weeks so I would use cellular blankets until then. I use the sleeping bags up to 2.5yrs or so, they are so handy.

SevenReasonsToSmile · 02/02/2013 16:26

wirra sleeping bags are brilliant, so much better than blankets being kicked off or wriggled out of. I think most say they're from around 10lbs or so, you can use them basically as soon as baby is big enough not to disappear inside the head hole! We've also just swaddled with blankets until then too. For baby clothes I use any non-bio powder and comfort pure. You can also buy a non-bio sterilising powder called Napisan which is good if they've been stored for a while as it kills any nasties, plus handy for nappy-leaks once baby is here anyway.

beaver certainly sounds like you have the rage, just don't get yourself arrested :o

berri · 02/02/2013 16:29

Hi wriggler

How is everyone getting on?

Scan coming up on Wednesday to check if my placenta has moved out of the way - fingers crossed! Looking forward to another opportunity to say hello to the baby :)

The hypnotherapy course has been great so far! If anyone else was thinking of doing it I'd really recommend it. Even the book on it's own makes a lot of sense if you don't have time for the classes.

shelly81 · 02/02/2013 17:08

Hi all quick question ???? Is anybody else feeling really insecure and just ... Well awful ?? my DP is going away for 1 nite with the boys there going go-karting then on the p**s which is normally fine but this time I don't want him to go am really scared he is going to cheat on me (which has never happened & would never cross my mind normally) I know I'm being a big preggo emotional deluded idiot but can't help it :-( I never felt like this the previous 2 times I've been pregg xx

Bunnychan · 02/02/2013 17:44

Yes- shelly I'm like it too. I keep feeling insecure about how I look and I'm really needy for DP; normally I'm really independent. We went out last weekend with loads of people and he spent all night talking to an old friend's sister. I found myself getting really jealous of her. Today though, I'd flipping pay her to take him lol x

SevenReasonsToSmile · 02/02/2013 17:58

shelly can you look at it as an excuse to have a night doing what you want, plus it'll take your mind off what he's up to. Have a bath and read a book or watch a film he doesn't like, or any friends you can call for a catch up? On the nights when DH is at work I'm normally in bed knitting by 9!

berri hope your placenta has shifted. I've booked a private gender scan on Thursday, looking forward to finding out what we're having. I'll then be ebaying the other gender clothes we don't need as DC3 will be our last.

shelly81 · 02/02/2013 18:09

bunny its so strange isn't it normally I love it and even stranger for me that I've never felt like this b4 ... Maybe its because I'm older now :-/. That's wot im planning to do seven have a good old girly nite :-). Thank you for replying so fast ladies. Xx

milkandribena · 02/02/2013 18:50

well didn't get to see BF today he was called into work :( but he might come down tomorrow. Have to put off buying things for another weekend. But DBro was lovely and he took me out for lunch and is making me liver tonight :) because that is my crazing for some reason - offal. well at least it is cheap

a bit shelly but i'm not sure if mine is hormones or just needing him this week because of all the shit

christ beaver well you made me laugh at least.

yumm i can smell the liver and mash now. though DBro said he would only cook for me if we named the kid after him.

Boodstress · 02/02/2013 19:54

milk sounds like you're craving iron. Thank your lucky stars you aren't craving coal Grin. I didn't know liver was allowed in preg. If so I shall be having it, I love it.
My DH is on a -get this- stag reunion where he and school friends are revisiting the best stags now they are all married. He says its just rugby & a drinking session and his dad is battling cancer so I know he needs the break but ARGHHH!!! He said he hasn't been out this year so is due a night (he left at 10am) - I pointed out that we are only 30 odd days into the bloody year. Anyway, I wallowed in the bath & now sitting in front of crap tv. It's a actually really nice but I won't be telling him that Grin

milkandribena · 02/02/2013 20:38

Bood it isn't- feel really bad :( but I was craving it so much. Hopefully just having it once will sustain me. (too much Vit A) for the rest of the time. Guess I'll have to switch to green veg - that's got iron in it right?

Wow a stag-reunion. :) yeah make him feel a bit guilty :) but enjoy your night

Boodstress · 02/02/2013 21:00

Like everything else milk I'd say that direction is to stop people over doing it. I say if you're really craving something that bad then your body needs it... Not sure if that applys to the fruit n nut bar in my hand.

I have too much iron normally which requires treatment but I go to normal levels in pregnancy. With my crappy pelvis I have enough to contend with though!

DH sending lovely drunk wife appreciating texts so all is well. I will however cash in the brownie points v soon Grin
