I have to say I'm heartened by so many of us struggling with aches and pains and tiredness. I woke every time I turned last night so was like a bull today. One Born Every M. Just ended, so emotional watching it. That poor guy with his MIL turning up every 5 minutes during labour!

So pleased for you '10', don't stop taking very good care of yourself.

Artigene · 30/01/2013 22:10

Shame you are not here Milk. DH has just baked 16 bitter chocolate and ameretti cupcakes with chocolate ganache (he is in a bake off at his work and its the semis tomorrow). They really are cheering. I'll have one for you too if you like! Seriously, sorry you have had a bad day, hope you are feeling better.

jenpenod · 30/01/2013 23:50

Those cupcakes sound amazing Arti...any chance of getting the recipe?

shelly81 · 31/01/2013 07:44

maybe yeah it does but all my blood results came back normal 3 weeks ago when I had it done so fingers crossed for the same this time xx

Hi everyone, not posted for ages but have been keeping up with all the news. Have especially been thinking of those who have been poorly and so happy for the good news.
I just need a little hand holding if that's ok. I went into hospital yesterday as was worried about some pains and also no movement for a few days, everything is ok but took them a while to find the heartbeat, which was just so scary...but all is good. Told me to talk to midwife about my pelvic pains...

But at the same time, bizarrely, my father was rushed to A and E at the same hospital. Just as we were leaving, my brother called to say he was in intensive care. I literally fell to the ground with shock! My dad is such a lovely funny strong man, the thought of him sick is just heartbreaking. Anyway, I found my mum in hospital, who was just as shocked to see me already there! He is being tested/scanned today for obstruction in his stomach, just glad he is in hospital being looked after, will find out more later when the consultant has seen him.

On a happy note, my baby is squirming and kicking me like never before, it is so comforting,as if he knows I am sad, which is making me cry with happiness!

Sorry to go on, just had to tell someone my news x

MammaBrussels · 31/01/2013 10:07

((hugs)) betsy, I hope your Dad's OK Flowers

Boodstress · 31/01/2013 10:52

Betsy hope your dad is ok. It's so hard seeing our parents ill, especially when we are in such a heightened emotional state anyway. glad your little one is reassuring you.

MaybeAMayBaby · 31/01/2013 12:18

betsy what an emotional day! Hope your dad is ok x let us know what happens and of course we'll hold your hand x

It's been a day of appts for me. I was at the GP surgery waiting to dr about that mole, when midwife rang me (from surgery). Apparently I was half an hour late for my appt with her Blush.
She gave me matb1 and kind of reassured me about the low estimated weight. She couldn't answer my question about how baby's weight I estimated Confused (normal for her) but agreed the other measurements looked much higher. She said that they are normally told not to estimate baby's weight until after 26-28 weeks as it is much more inaccurate.

Mole I also fine. GP agreed its quite normal for them to grow more in pregnancy. Had to apologise to GP too because I missed her calling me as I was in with MW and she was say waiting for me. So 2 appts in les than 5 mins in total!

Off to hospital later for another appt. it's the one I'm most worried about. My eyes were my biggest concern and complication during last pregnancy. I just need to get through this appt.

Congrats on 26 weeks 10! That sounds scarily closer to term now. For some reason you spun much further than my 24+3.

Booked my 4D scan. V excited. Anyone else having one?

MaybeAMayBaby · 31/01/2013 12:19

Sorry for all the typos. Ruddy phone and fat fingers.

SeaSalt1 · 31/01/2013 13:29

Goodness Betsy, what a day, you must be wrung out after all of that. Do look after yourself after such a shock (how about some chocolate or a bubble bath / early night tonight?). I'm here for hand holding (as are others) so post whenever you need to - let us know how your father is and I'll be sending lots of positive thoughts his (and your) way. After my recent scare I completely understand how stressful it all is - just keep thinking positively ('always stay positive' as the lady at the cardiologists said to me the other day - wise words).

Maybe - good luck for your eye appointment - I'll be thinking of you. Please let us know how it goes, I have everything crossed.

SeaSalt1 · 31/01/2013 13:30

Ooh, meant to say, no update from me on the remaining test results, the consultant is still waiting for them...

ng1412 · 31/01/2013 13:41

Sorry to hear about your horrible day Betsy hope all works out well.

I have been on my own for 24 hours as DH been in Germany on business. He is getting train home soon so should be back in 3 hours. I am really struggling now, am tired out and my DD had a massive tantrum earlier as she wanted her toys are the table while we had lunch and I refused. Bless her, she is great but I just wanted some help and of course I don't have anyone here....

Feeling very pregnant and just downright bleurgh!

hope all goes well at your eye appointment maybe, the things we have to cope with eh?

OO, I'm right with the irritation about appointment waiting times, I get tres upset when it comes to doctors and hospitals because they seem to assume that you've got no other life or commitments to consider. Because obvs, working in a hospital is the only important job on the planet. While I agree none of my students will drop dead if I fail to deliver a lecture, I nevertheless will have employment problems and I think they are important.

Am breathless and full of baby today, and suddenly madly interested in eating toffees or cadbury's chocolate eclairs. I'm not sure that counts as a craving?

Ms Boots has been kicking me in the bladder all day. I know it's a good thing but keep making involuntary 'oof' sounds while mnetting working in the library.

Ellypoo · 31/01/2013 17:42

I hope your dad is ok betsy, and pleased that your baby is ok and giving you good reassurance.

26 weeks is fab 10 - very nearly 3rd trimester!!!

Had a good MW appt earlier, referred me to physio for the PGP - don't think they'll be able to do anything, but worth a try. They have called me this afternoon and I've got an appointment next Wed - am surprised how quickly they have sorted it!

My right eye has been hurting me since last night, feels like there is something scratching it, and it feels like it should be swollen & red but it looks ok. Weird things going on!

Baby is moving around nicely, and a good excuse to eat choc, every time I want it to move!! Our cleaner was out in the garden having a ciggie earlier & saw 3 magpies, so is now wondering if we are having a girl!!! Think we are pretty even on the old wives' tales now in terms of guessing the sex of the baby!!!

Mmmm dime bars & mini eggs are my current choice sparkly, and def counts as cravings as far as I'm concerned!!!

26+2

cuppateaandagingersnap · 31/01/2013 17:59

Hope your dad is ok betsy thinking about you and your family, hugs.

Really pleased to hear other people's good news and that 10 is 26weeks and clot shrinking and baby growing! Fab, keep up the good work with all that resting!

Wirrawoo · 31/01/2013 18:17

ellypoo magpies?! Wow there are so many of these old wives tales that I've never heard of. Wonder where the more 'out there' ones come from. Well, she's got a 50/50 chance of being right so the odds are quite good Wink

betsy you poor thing, what a day. Really hope your dad gets better soon, lucky in a way that you were there and could see your mum so quickly. Take care of yourself after such a shock. Tea, chocolate and taking it easy Brew Biscuit

sparkly am totally breathless and full of baby too! Feels a bit more full now than a few weeks ago hey! After writing yesterday about being starving I left it too long for food and ended up in a right state. Everything totally shut down and I couldn't even stand up for a bit. Ate a whole pizza ordered in emergency-get-the-girl-some-friggin-food moment (!) and it still didn't help Confused was so dizzy and out of it that I went to bed at 9pm looking like I'd seen a ghost. Was crying away on the sofa because I felt so weird and shaky and as if I hadnt eaten for weeks. What the frack is up with that?! Hormonal crying is weird, it's like you just have no control over it. We were almost laughing at one point because I just couldn't tell DP why I couldn't stop crying... Being hungry seemed like too stupid a reason!! Saw midwife this morning for app anyway and they are testing for anaemia. Dinner tonight is steak Grin

Ellypoo · 31/01/2013 18:46

Apparently the rhyme goes 'one for sorrow; two for joy; three for a girl; four for a boy'!!!

That sounds horrid wirra, steak sounds good though!!!

MaybeAMayBaby · 31/01/2013 20:12

wirra sounds like low blood sugar to me rather than anaemia (but if course you could have that too!). It's common in pregnancy if you go for a long time between eating.

Eye appt went well (ish). I don't have the same condition as last time (which coul have been quite serious). I do however have a less seriou one. I won't confuse you with details, but fingers crossed it doesn't get worse. My diabetes control is really tight so I can't do any more.

Think I may have leaked colostrum! I did really early last time too. Two wet patches on my top Blush

berri · 31/01/2013 22:33

Betsy hope your Dad is ok xx

SevenReasonsToSmile · 31/01/2013 22:53

maybe glad you were pleased(ish) with your eye appointment, and hope the less serious condition doesn't get worse. Is it something that needs much monitoring? I've never leaked in pregnancy, I've also barely got anything when expressing after the DCs were born. Annoying though as they've both been to early to BF, I've heard that some women just can't seem to express, guess I'm one of them.

betsy hope you get some news on your dad soon.

Whoever asked about 4D scans we want a gender scan, with the muscular dystrophy risk if its a boy we'll have a cord blood sample taken at birth for testing so need to know the sex in advance. I need to try to book one tomorrow.

Not much to report here, saw the MW yesterday and all is fine with baba. We've all got colds, plus DD has a chesty cough, is barely eating and not sleeping great either :(

Sparklyboots · 31/01/2013 23:28

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm mini eggs mmmm

Artigene · 01/02/2013 09:32

Crap, am trudging to antenatal clinic again as my feet suddenly swelled up overnight and are puffy and big. Has anyone else had this? I'm sure it's just normal (albeit early) preggo swelling but clinic said to go in. I'm annoyed, I have 3 hours a week with no work or kids and those three hours are Fridays 9-12 and they are SACRED.

lollypopsicle · 01/02/2013 09:36

Great to hear good news from beaver and 10 Smile
Betsy hugs to you. my mum was taken ill in Hosp when I was about 25 wks with DS. she was in Hosp for a week and there was talk of cancer etc. it was a scary time. I couldn't help having quite selfish thoughts like worrying how I would cope with a baby without her. then I'd feel guilty for just thinking of myself. She is fine now but I know how unstabling something like that can be when you're already feeling vulnerable yourself Thanks wishing him a speedy recovery.

On the subject of support pillows. I used a long maternity pillow between my legs from mothercare last time but the stuffing separated in the middle so became annoying...and it was huge!
this time my mum bought me a dream genii (sp?) and I've found it great. not too big in the bed; supports bump and legs and can use it easily when you turn in bed. will hopefully get some use out of it when bf too.

DP is finishing early today so we're taking DS swimming then off to nandos. yum.

24+1
