I had my 12 week scan yesterday and all is well! Could see the little one wiggling around, turning over, waving arms and legs about... :-)

Sorry to hear your news Niktasha. We've had similar experiences. You'll bounce back too.

We had our NT scan for The Two Ronnies today. Good results. 1-1766. Not bad considering our respective ages. Especially mine.
And Little Ronnie is catching up with Big Ronnie. 55mm to the bigger fella's 59mm. The race is on! Grin

ReikiMummy · 05/01/2013 06:38

Hi, De-lurking here. Currently at 12+6.... and can feel a little bump underneath the padding that definitely wasn't there 3 days ago. :)

Had a first scan at 9+5, but even so have been tentatively quiet for a while! Very unexpected, as we weren't exactly planning, and having convinced myself I probably wouldn't get pregnant anyway (no real evidence, just a feeling...) it was a nice surprise even though we weren't exactly being 'careful'.

Itchy nipples - yup... drove me mad. Seems to have faded at the moment though. I've got a tube of Aloe Gelly, and just popped that on very late one night and Oh My GOSH!!!! Instant relief!!!! I think my exact words to DP were "It's wrong that that feels SO good..."! It's more or less pure aloe in a tube, and is also great for burns and is AMAZING on sunburn... and itchy nipples. I bet that isn't in their sales "bumpf"! (Yes, it's expensive but the tube lasts AGES, and no - I'm not a "Seller" of this stuff!) ((And for some reason that link comes up with the US page, not the UK page... ))

Similarly, have seemed to have lost weight... haven't weighed myself yet since original appt with midwife, but inches have definitely gone somewhere! No MS or anything, just listening to my body and I am definitely able to eat less than I used to be able to put away.

Currently up at stupid o'clock due to having a cold that I've successfully avoided all Christmas... only to come down with it the first day back at work. Grrr!

Oooh look - now 6:30 which means the tesco garage will be open and I can go get some more tissues....... Now - should I go get dressed before nipping out?!

reikimummy if you're due on 12 July you're actually 13 + 1 Smile

In other news my bump is humongous!!! I'm glad we told early due to mc as there'd be no hiding it now. Hubby is starting to convince me that they must Havre missed a second baby in the scans Confused - impossible right??

His alternative suggestion is that it's a prop or second row cooking in there lol.

Looking forward to seeing little one again on Tuesday. Feels like so far away still!

AmaDablam · 05/01/2013 09:16

Morning everyone, and welcome reikimummy

Been up in the night for the second time running with awful indigestion Sad. It doesn't feel anything like uterine cramps so I don't think it's anything to worry about but my whole tummy has been really sore and tender, with lots of gurgling noises and, er, windiness Blush. I've had quite a bit of heartburn too. Anyone else had similar problems? I'm guessing this is just one of those normal pg ailments, however, it would have been nice if it could have kindly held off until the MS stops, as having both at once is not much fun!

ReikiMummy · 05/01/2013 10:30

ooooh.... ok mysterymeg - i may have lost a few days somewhere! :S I'll put it down to the cold thing. :)

Thanks everyone for the welcome :) Kinda starting to feel real now... :)

ArkadyRose · 05/01/2013 12:10

ReikiMummy Not necessarily - depends which due date predictor mysterymeg is going by, length of your cycle, stuff like that (and meg has no way of knowing your cycle length or whether it's the same as hers - she's evidently assuming it is). Based on the wheel predictor thingies that the midwives use I'm two days further on than I actually am - but those wheels assume everyone has a 28-day cycle, and I don't. The online predictors that allow you to specify your cycle length are far better. Not that a couple of days really makes much difference, but don't feel you need to change how far along you are just on someone else's say-so.

Guavasforbreakfast · 05/01/2013 12:17

Ama me too, ouchy and incredibly windy for the last few weeks - gross and uncomfortable. I seem to remember moaning at the lack of symptoms at 5 weeks, now seem to have gone through pretty much every one in the book! Here's hoping 2nd trimester gives us some respite Smile

Guavasforbreakfast · 05/01/2013 12:50

Shiv just a few days in Portugal, didn't want to go too far away but hoping it'll be nice and warm and I can get some beach time in before little one arrives. Staying in a family member's holiday home so not wasting precious baby savings! Will be 25 wks so hopefully flying won't be too bad, have had to turn down an invitation to a wedding in Italy at 35/36 wks though Hmm

ReikiMummy · 05/01/2013 13:43

Arkady will have to go back and check dates and things, doesn't help that i feel like i've been in a bit of a timewarp these past few days.

DP just back from the shop with goodies - all essential of course, like warm sausage rolls and cookies... lol bless him.

:)

SlouchingPanda · 05/01/2013 16:07

Afternoon all!

Ama, thanks for the tip about E45! I have been bio-oiling my belly and boobs, but maybe need something more moisturising to combat the dreaded nipple itch.

Thundercatz, thinking of you and hope you are okay. I am sure you will find plenty of support from women who have been through CVS on the antenatal tests/results topic. I'm happy to help if I can, just ask, or if you just want a sympathetic ear and a hand to hold through this nervewracking time, we are all here for you.

I'll be telling work next week - I'm planning on the plaster-ripping method! I'm not expecting them to be particularly positive but will NOT be apologising for being pregnant either even though I know it's a pain in the arse for them . I'm planning on going in with a few things to say, to avoid the awkward stony silence, and give the impression that I know what I'm doing and what I can reasonably expect as a pregnant worker. So in my head, the conversation goes like this:

Me: I've asked to see you as I need to tell you I am 13 weeks pregnant and am due on the 12th July. I will be putting this in writing this week.
Boss:
Me: I don't know yet when I wish to start maternity leave but will inform you before my 25th week. However, I would like to discuss my shift patterns and having an occupational health assessment. Also, I wanted to give you as much notice as possible so that cover can be arranged as I have antenatal appointments on x and y dates.

Wish me luck!

mysterymeg · 05/01/2013 16:11

reikimummy arkadyrose I do apologise if I've caused offence that was not my intention.

arkady I was not trying to establish a due date based on any cycle. If you went on the date of my lmp I'd be over 20 weeks by now! I have been given my due date based on my last scan. As you are technically 40 weeks on your due date (regardless of cycle) I assumed that that would mean you were classed as being the same gestation as others due on the same date. I thought it might be nice to gain a few more days. Evidently I was wrong and I'm sorry I was just trying to be friendly.

trickybarmby · 05/01/2013 17:01

aargh! I have written a massive post about nct and my being a breastfeeding peer supporter 3 times now and I keep losing it! will try again later! x

AmaDablam · 05/01/2013 17:36

No worries slouching, hope it helps if you decide to try it. My skin feels loads better after my E45 bath last night and my nipples haven't actually itched at all today (despite it being difficult to actually immerse them in the water, had to sort of splash them with it as bath not deep enough to submerge the two mountains I am currently carrying round on my chest Blush!). Think I'm going to try and make the bath at least a weekly thing and continue to use the lotion all over after showering the rest of the time.

guavas thanks for the solidarity re. wind etc. Yep I was exactly the same, especially as my symptoms didn't really kick in until about 7 weeks. A case of being careful what you wish for methinks! At least the 2nd trimester is within grasping distance now - technically mine starts tomorrow (or is it at 13 weeks - different books seem to say different things?), so we'll see what happens...not expecting an overnight miracle though!!

cakeandwine · 05/01/2013 17:40

Can I come and join you ladies. I am a lurker, getting used to the shock of expecting dc5, but shock and horror is shifting a bit to excitement and fear and I thought I could join in. According to scan due 11th July which makes me 13 +2.

mysterymeg I agree with your method of going by scan dates so we all reach 40 weeks on our due date, regardless of what our cycle is - not that any of my dc have arrived on their due dates!

I am worried about telling anyone about this pregnancy but probably family and friends more than work. I do feel a bit embarrassed to being having a 5th dc, i think it will be frowned on, and feeling too fragile to come up with quick retorts. I am just hiding away, with my growing tummy covered by scarves and bags and children's coats Smile

dinkystinky · 05/01/2013 17:46

Welcome cakeandwine and other new joiners - lovely to have you on board. And congratulations on DC5 Cake - am sure their reactions wont be as bad as you are fearing.

Hope those who are feeling awful - with lurgies or digestive issues - feel better soon.

YikesHereWeGo · 05/01/2013 18:07

I agree with mystery! Be nice folks! Wink

Thinkingof4 · 05/01/2013 18:27

I'm sure no offence was intended or taken? We all know the due date is just a guide and the babies decide themselves when to arrive. You can work out gestation various ways, from lmp to ovulation date to 12 week scan.

Anyway, just wondering if anyone is feeling any flutters or kicks yet? More likely in those of us on no3/4/5 probably. I haven't felt anything yet, but with ds3 I definitely felt him at 12 weeks. I know because I was getting scanned and just as she took probe off I felt something. When she out it back on seconds later he was facing the other way!! I realise that sounds nuts but it's true!
I'm getting impatient now at 14+4 but I guess if placenta is anterior then I might have a while to wait (btw was 19 weeks with ds1 and 18 weeks with ds2 when placenta was anterior)

So any wriggles out there?

ReikiMummy · 05/01/2013 18:33

Hi guys, Mystery no offence taken whatsoever - this is all completely new to me as never been in this boat before. Head is very cloudy at the mo thanks to this amazing cold... :(

Off back to stick my head in a box of tissues.... here... flowers for Mysterymeg Thanks and Arkadyrose Thanks

esme80 · 05/01/2013 18:35

Thinking I keep imagining that Im feeling flutters, have since week 12, but keep thinking its too soon... This is dc 2 for me, felt ds at around 18 weeks bt prob felt him earlier just didnt know what it was.. So not sure!

dinkystinky · 05/01/2013 18:38

Thinking - I wasnt going to post on here incase anyone thought I was insane but I have definitely been feeling something for the past week and a half or so - just tiny squirms every so often. Felt DS1 at 16 weeks, DS2 at 14 weeks.

OP posts:
CitizenOscar · 05/01/2013 18:42

Esme80 I keep thinking I feel flutters too. It's DC2 for me & didn't feel anything with DS til much later but I also put it down to wind last time but now I know what it feels like so maybe?? Definitely starting to feel altogether more real! Grin

wifey6 · 05/01/2013 18:44

I wasn't going to post either..incase i was wrong...but have felt little flutters for the last few days tooSmile

VinegarDrinker · 05/01/2013 19:03

Yep definite flutters here for the last few days, too. This is DC2, felt DS1 around 18wks. It's certainly not impossible Smile
