So sorry yikes/someday and good luck with TTC

I'm another one with a toddler, DS3 has just turned 2. I'm finding carrying him around the hardest bit. My 4 year old is disabled so I've got him to lug around too.

MiniPenguinMaker · 23/01/2013 10:08

I'm so sorry to hear your news, yikes and someday. I hope you're taking good care of yourselves.

Haven't actually been on the board in EONS, so I'm back now under a new nickname and hoping for a fresh start where I actually manage to say something more often.

I had my 12-week scan at the beginning of January and all was well, which was a huge relief. I am going to be a single mum, but I definitely felt the love, as my mum and little sister both came with me to the scan! And my due date was moved forward by a day to the 17th of July, so I've updated myself on the list below. Which, er, means that paolocee and I will be competing for attention with the Duchess of Cambridge, possibly, as the bookies have placed 4/1 odds on that being her due date too!!! Unless there's something you haven't told us about your wife, paolocee :-D

Abzs · 23/01/2013 10:12

I took the plunge and went swimming last night (sorry, couldn't resist). I pottered up and down and just about managed a whole 6 lengths in one go. It's not even a metric pool...

esme80 · 23/01/2013 10:48

Ama oh the pressure, what if you hate the dvd? Ha, oh well, hope it helps w the back pain!

I have an 18 month old, who was an absolute angel till the day I got pregnant, and has since then been a little terror! Just to terrify me of the thought of having having two to contend with... He has been poorly a lot lately so it has affected him, 3 times the last month. I am also strugglng the most with carrying him, between back pain and spd I collapse in a heap the second my dh gets home! Anyway, sorry for all the whinging...

Am also starving all the time! Seriously think I am now eating more than dh! Worried as I remember just how hard it was to loose baby weight the first time...

Oh and chances are pretty good that at least one of us will give birth same day as DOC I would think!

Guavasforbreakfast · 23/01/2013 11:01

Sorry to hear your news yikes/someday. Hope you're on here again soon!

Talking of belly buttons, mine has sort of stretched sideways and got shallower despite hardly visible bump. It looks like an eye. I'm a bit freaked out by this and my sister has helpfully suggested that I draw a face Hmm

More in awe of you 2nd/3rd+ timers with all this toddler talk. My sister has 3 under 5 and visiting her exhausts me.

In other news, STILL puking but only every other morning or so. The leftover smell of cooked food is still sending me over and have bought a slow cooker in the hope that containing it within the pot will allow me to start eating more than just cereal and sandwiches...

Still waiting for this mythical bloom and in the meantime my hips are KILLING me at night if I've done any significant activity during the day - turning over in bed is agony and I actually had to crawl to the bathroom the other night as it hurt too much to stand Blush. Nothing during the day though - is this what people are referring to as SPD or is that an all day thing? Will ask my midwife anyway next Friday.

Apologies for the essay, haven't been on for ages!

15+1

esme80 · 23/01/2013 11:11

Sorry to say it guava but that sounds exactly like SPD. Its common to get pain at the end of the day, a result of activity earlier on that may have felt fine in the moment. Talk to your midwife, and get a referral for a physio hopefully that will help.

dinkystinky · 23/01/2013 11:28

Erm, Guava - hate to tell you this, but when you cook in a slow cooker, the smell still gets out - just over a longer period. So you'll have a cooking food smell for 6 hours rather than however long it takes to cook on hob/oven. Sorry to hear about your hips - does sound a lot like SPD to me. Agree with Esme - speak to MW and get physio referral.

Welcome back Minipenguinmaker - glad to her you're getting lots of support from your family.

My 2 are a bit older - DS1 is 6 and DS2 turns 4 next month so dont have the toddler carrying/tantrums to deal with - but DS2 is a sensitive little soul who has suddenly decided he hates nursery (he goes to the one attached to DS1's school for a couple of hours every morning) which is not much fun to deal with.

Tricky - your instincts are probably right but stick with us. DS2's due date was mid/late Feb and I was convinced he'd come early - and he did. DS1 I couldnt imagine getting out - and he had to be evicted in the end! Left to his own devices he'd probably be still gestating away some 6 years later...

OP posts:
mysterymeg · 23/01/2013 11:47

Tricky - I'm convinced that this baby will be born in June but no doubt will be on here, overdue and moaning in late July lol.

TotallyEggFlipped · 23/01/2013 11:58

I think my boobs have shrunk! How is that possible????

BadMissM · 23/01/2013 12:14

flyingsprocket Don't envy those of you with toddlers as well. Because I'm ancient, have a 14 year old DD to bring me cups of (decaffeinated) tea...although do have to clear up all her rubbush as well...

TotallyEggFlipped · 23/01/2013 13:18

A 14 year old tea maker sounds handy.... Can you train her to clear up her rubbish?

MrsRoss26 · 23/01/2013 13:24

Just a quick message to say I had my scan this morning (ow my bladder!!!) and all's well! The only problem we found was that I'm a bit further along than I'd thought, so they couldn't do the combined test today. Good news is that I'm 14+0 today and baby looked fab. Will have to go for the next set of tests, but to be honest I'm not that fussed about them now that I've seen the littl'un moving around, kicking, etc.! Suddenly s/he feels a lot more real and I can get excited! Smile

Hope everyone with SPD is taking care and keeping warm especially in this weather.

TotallyEggFlipped · 23/01/2013 13:38

Great news MrsRoss
It's great to get a few 'free days' Wink

MrsRoss26 · 23/01/2013 14:09

Hello! I've decided to stop being so shy and sign in. :o

I'm 14+2 weeks with DC2 and seem to have forgotten absolutely everything about being pregnant from the last time (5 years ago).

TotallyEgg, my boobs also shrank. I think it's because I lost some weight in the beginning, could that be the reason for you?

AllYoursBabooshka · 23/01/2013 14:12

Sorry, EDD 22nd of July.

dinkystinky · 23/01/2013 14:14

Welcome AllyoursBabooshka - copy and paste the list above and add yourself and your due date in.

MrsRoss - glad you had a good scan Smile

TwoOfThree · 23/01/2013 14:26

Hi Ladies,

Thought I?d rejoin the thread as I joined ages ago an then didn?t say anything! I?m 16+1 today with my first, and currently sitting at my desk trying not to fall asleep. I have been lurking mostly on my phone so haven?t been able to add myself to the big list, so here I am, July the 10th. Morning sickness has finally subsided, only to replaced my the most uncomfortable bloating :( Feels at the moment like I?m having a beach ball rather than a baby.

Sorry AllYoursBabooska! hadn't hit refresh in a while before I posted mine, didn't mean to leave you out!

specialknickers · 23/01/2013 15:09

Welcome lurkers! And congrats to the scanners / heartbeat listeners... So good to hear everyone's doing well (spd/ morning sickness / toddlers aside!).

guavas it does sound like spd (or pgp - pelvic girdle pain, as its now called) to me too, sorry to say. The pain turning over in bed is a classic symptom. Please don't ignore it, because it can get a lot worse (and with proper treatment can also get a lot better) but you need to find a good hands-on therapist to treat you. From what I gather, it's hard to find that on the NHS and physios tend to fob you off with exercises (useless) and crutches (handy). Take heart though, it's a lot more common than you think. There's lots of help available (google the pelvic partnership) and lots of simple things to do to help yourself deal with the problem.

AllYoursBabooshka · 23/01/2013 15:13

Don't worry about it Two. :o

photographerlady · 23/01/2013 15:42

Afternoon ladies. Anyone else snacking like mad now. I am 15 weeks and I swear I am eating every hour. I had seven pieces of fruit today.. and that is after a big breakfast and lunch. I am forcing myself to stick to fruit as back in the morning sickness days it was crisps but geez how many oranges can one girl eat before she bursts.

marimama · 23/01/2013 16:31

Hello! Just popping in to say congrats on happy scans, on SOME people having thirty minute massages, etc.

Also wondering if anyone else is feeling a surprising amount of RAGE over sometimes ridiculous things? My students must think i'm going crazy--and my DH is just sweetly ignoring my outbursts. It's like volume turned up on emotions. Kind of annoying. Want to be blissed-out mama, not madwoman!

I also have a toddler. DS will be 3 in April, and for the most part is a wonderful boy, but i find i have less patience when he freaks out over a broken bagel or having to put on coar or wrong placement of toy in basket or not getting biscuits before dinner (toddler crises).

TotallyEggFlipped · 23/01/2013 16:32

AllYours I don't think I've lost any weight, but it does appear that my boobs have migrated to my belly, so redistribution rather than actual weight gain/loss. Confused

photographer definitely always snacking here. Much worse in the evenings. I've been eating my weight in flapjacks and crisps. Not great. I actually told DH that I needed extra pillows last night because I was too full to lie flat Blush
