I'm 14+5 now and want my bump to grow more!

BadMissM · 24/01/2013 15:41

dinky Only because I insisted they test early...they didn't want to.

Want to cry now. Stupid bloody buggering Employment Tribunal, due for week after next has been adjourned AGAIN. I so needed this sorting when I was not so far along- but thye have proposed April-July, and can't see the issue with me being pg. Even asked me for an 'exact date' for birth, to take it off of list. Attempted to explain to idiotstupid young bloke, that you can't predict birthdates...good example being 7 week early DD...to no avail. I have pain problems, and no meds now, there is no way will be able to sit in court for 3 days 7-8 months pg....

This has gone on for years, could finally see an end...not now. Sad

dinkystinky · 24/01/2013 16:04

Cheese - the ones I did were evening only (in fact most working people I know did evenings only) and it was fine - you met over a 4 week period and then continued catching up for lunch/coffees afterwards. I guess the benefit of a weekend course is that its all over and done with - but it might be abit overwhelming in that period of time.

BadMissM - you have my sympathy on the rubbish employment tribunal adjournment. I would simply say due to medical issues (you can point to diabetes monitoring and consultant care), the sooner it can be convened for the better - so if they have availability in March/April they should reschedule it for then. Who knows, maybe being a heavily pregnant woman in clear distress at the date of the tribunal will actually make the tribunal decide quickly and in your favour... Do you have legal representation? If so, speak with your solicitor to see what can be done to expedite matters. If not, perhaps take a look online or speak with CAB to see if there are any ideas there.

Lots of questions to catch up on and am on phone so might miss some... Here goes:

NCT: evening/weekend - we did evenings and I think it helped to see people regularly over a few weeks and also gave people a chance to think about stuff between sessions & come back with questions. But DH found them tiring after a full day of work so weekend could have been better from that point of view. DH needed time to really get his head round the whole birth thing - we did hypnobirthing course before NCT and I'd say by week 3 he'd really accepted it was going to happen & he'd be there!

Pregnancy announcements: I called or texted close friends. Told family in person or by Skype/text (mostly abroad). DH sent emails and then announced on FB (I haven't said on FB) so our mutual friends all know. Turned out to be just as well as I'd forgotten to text a couple of them! Last time I did more FB updates, scan pics etc but I just feel like keeping it to myself a bit more this time.

Told work after Xmas - everyone seems pleased although did get a few comments as I only came back from maternity leave in July, so seems quite soon to be announcing another pregnancy. Ah well.

Had my 16 week midwife appt yesterday. Listened to baby's heartbeat but she said they don't always now as NICE guidelines say they shouldn't because it's often difficult to find the heartbeat at 16 weeks and causes unnecessary anxiety if it can't be found. She found our bean's heartbeat straight away though. Was so nice to hear it!

My SIL had her 12 week scan yesterday too - going to be a big baby summer for our family Grin

Is anyone else who's on their 2nd (or more) pregnancy find they're not taking as much care of themselves as the first time? Just realised today I worry so much about making sure DS eats a balanced diet but haven't really eaten much fruit/veg for ages!

AllYoursBabooshka · 24/01/2013 18:17

I'm on my second and am having the exact same problem Citizen. I find eating anything a chore atm.

Maybe try some of the microwaveable steam bags of veg you can get now? Three minutes and they are done, no pots or pans.

I always feel like I'm at least eaten something healthy when I bung them on my plate.

princessllama · 24/01/2013 18:24

totally agree citizen oscar, baby 3 here and have forgotten pg vitamins quite often even, am being quite careful on veg though as constantly on edge of not being able to go to loo.
nct-i did a 1 weekend course with dh and i only really made friends with 1 lady (although that is enough because we saw each other pretty much every week the 1st year) i have noticed the people on the 6 week course make much firmer friends.
re back pain-i would strongly advise cranial osteopathy-but then i would because i am a cranial osteopath Grin. if anyone wants a recommendation of a good one in their area just ask.
i am eating quite a lot but it has massively slowed down this week-having to remind myself not to eat as much as no longer roaringly hungry. i am a gigantic fan of the second breakfast-heaven especially if not at work and kids at school. eggs benedict...yum.
badmissm-on your tribunal, have you tried writing/emailing your local mp? if they're any good they should be able to write a letter on your behalf to speed things up for you. you can find out who they are and their contact details online-there's a website(i forget what it's called). it could really help.

princessllama · 24/01/2013 18:26

also thank you who ever recommended diprobase for the itching-it has completely improved it, as has stopping the lovely mother's bath oil, which i think i was allergic to-why didn't i work that out earlier.

CitizenOscar · 24/01/2013 18:33

Great idea AllYours but don't have a microwave. I'm just trying to make sure I eat a bit more similarly to DS - sharing his fruit. But I think the Christmas & 1st trimester nausea periods got me into terrible chocolate/cake/mini-cheddars habits that I'm struggling to break!

TotallyEggFlipped · 24/01/2013 19:24

Re: announcements. We told my parents immediately (well, my mum knew I was pregnant before I did and had been pestering me to test for 2 weeks when I was saying it wasn't possible). We told DH's parents and his sister when we met them just before Christmas at about 9 weeks (abroad), which was earlier than I'd have liked, but we wanted to tell them face-to-face. We told BIL after 12 week scan. I told my best friend and brother at 9 weeks too, but we waited until 12 weeks to tell other friends. I'm currently looking for a job, so I guess I'll have to tell any potential employers pretty quickly, which makes things tricky!!

dinkystinky · 24/01/2013 20:17

Citizen Oscar - a quick way of getting veggies in for me is going for a veggie based soup for lunch (perfect in this cold weather) or wholemeal pitta and houmous or having a veggie stirfry for dinner. Am also trying to have a couple of veggie only days a week. I am trying to look after myself but find myself snacking all day and eating alot more crap than I did with DS1 (DS2 I ate lots of crap while pregnant with too) - I reckon alot of it is down to tiredness.

CitizenOscar · 24/01/2013 20:35

Great minds dinky - just had a veggie & tofu stir fry for dinner Grin

Cheeseandbread · 25/01/2013 06:48

Thanks for NCT advice Dinky Citizen and Princess

It must be tricky looking after other DCs aswell as thinking of the new one that is coming along. I find it hard enough looking after myself at the mo and getting to work as normal... I should have left by now but am so shattered and decided to treat myself to a cup of tea at home ( normally only have one once I'm at school).

Happy Friday everyone- nearly the weekend! Good luck to anyone with scans/appointments today.

elliejjtiny · 25/01/2013 08:02

I've decided to cancel my midwife appointment today as DS2 is really struggling to walk in the snow and the cold makes his joints hurt. I don't fancy turning up with a screaming DS2 and a freezing DS3 who has taken off his gloves and kicked off the footmuff. DH is going to take DS1 to breakfast club so I just need to pick him up. Bus stops are right outside my house and right outside the school so I just have to get up the drive and across the playground.

RE telling people, we told PIL's at about 10 weeks, the DS's after the scan and then DH started telling everyone. I told my mum and dad 2 weeks ago but not told anyone else. I hate all the stupid comments you get when your pregnant so trying to avoid them by not telling many people. Also still quite nervous after my miscarriage a year ago and hardly feeling any movements, which is normal by the way but as I always feel quite strong movements early on makes me panic.

Busy week for me next week, hospital on wednesday to see the registrar and midwife on friday if I can get an appointment.

elliejjtiny · 25/01/2013 08:03

17+0 (always forget that bit!)

paolocee · 25/01/2013 08:20

Thanks all for the reassurance. DW is calm once more and I can remove the barbed wire from the centre of the bed.

Just gave into a cheeky Doppler urge this morning and The Two Ronnies are keeping pace with each other at 142 and 146bpm.

A weekend away in Luleå beckons but before that a visit to Barnens Hus (Children's House) to test drive buggies. Life in the fast lane, eh?

paolocee · 25/01/2013 08:20

That was supposed to read Lulea.

flyingsprocket · 25/01/2013 08:44

I'm pretty sure DP won't be able to make it to all of our NCT classes because of shift work. Do you see women there alone much?

Buggy test driving eh paolo Hardcore!

BB01 · 25/01/2013 09:05

Princessllama am really glad the Diprobase is helping! It's great isn't it!! P.S. You can get it on prescription usually

MightBeMad · 25/01/2013 10:07

Paolo, definitely a good idea to test drive buggies early, ESP with twins. I left it all quite late last time it of a misplaced sense of tempting fate and then ice we went shopping I was too big a d too sore with spd to really try them properly/practice collapsing and putting them up and lifting them to see if they were practical to get in/out of the car etc. there's a big baby megastore near our hospital a d so this time we've said that as long as all is well stour 20week scan, we're gong o stop off on the way hoe and choose/buy a double buggy (dc1 will be 22mths when this one arrives).

Morning all! Glad to say my follow up urine and bp checks yesterday were all fine so hopefully Monday was a just a blip. Next mw appointment 2 weeks today and I really hope she'll listen to the hb!!!

14+3

dinkystinky · 25/01/2013 10:46

Flying - there was a single parent in our NCT class. She just brought a friend along for the couples exercises etc and moral support.

Ellie - poor DS2!

Paolocee - definitely a good idea to test drive buggies - esp where you are (so they can handle all weathers and terrain) - sooner rather than later with twins.

Glad your follow up tests were ok Mightbemad.

Hello everyone!

Came across this thread and hoped I could settle in for the ride..... We are expecting DC2 on the 30th of July (I am 13+3 now and DD will be 2 when DC2 is born) and thought it would be nice to chat to others at similar stages of pregnancy..... I am amazed how much of this pregnancy lark I have forgotten, starting with the sickness and tiredness!

photographerlady · 25/01/2013 11:38

Welcome Highlander and congrats on the pregnancy.

MummyKanny · 25/01/2013 12:19

hello

I'm new to this and thought I would say hi to fellow July mums!

I'm 15+1 expecting my first child on 18 July and can't wait! I'll be married for 1 year next month, living in North London. DH and I are having lots of fun planning, there's so much to learn!

Re: announcements - we told close family at around 9 weeks and then told all other friends and family after the scan. We did it in person as much as possible but otherwise by phone/text. I've avoided references to the pregnancy on Facebook but that's mainly because I'm pretty private on there.

Has anyone else had lots of belly prodding from people?! I'm finding it a little odd - mainly because I'm not showing massively yet, just look a little podgy around the edges!

BadMissM · 25/01/2013 12:22

Dinky That's what I'm going to do. It is already a DDA case, so I struggle enough when not pg to sit in court for 8+ hours a day. This time worse as have no painkillers either. Have no legal representation but myself, Union backed out of day of first Case Hearing.... CAB here are worse than useless, if you're literate they say they can't help you... Hell, if I have to give birth in the courtroom, I will!

Citizenoscar The NCT have just booked is a mixture of evenings and weekends...difficult for my DH, as he works weekends....

princessllama babooshka Have to remind myself to eat healthy things, and keep forgetting vitamins, etc....

Citizenoscar My cake-eating habits have taken me to early gestational diabetes! be careful!

Dinky I find myself craving stodge and carbs because am so tired...

Elliejjtiny Have been a bit cautious about telling people too early...I lost twins 2 years ago, and get paranoid. Also waited until after Harmony Test to tell anyone we were telling.

Paolo Keep trying to get DH to testdrive buggies... as he is 6'4'' and I'm 5'2", we might have to compromise!

Highlander Waves!!! Hello!!! Smile

AllYoursBabooshka · 25/01/2013 12:22

Hey Highlander, hope the sickness isn't to bad for you.

Eek, I get my first scan today, It's late at 14 weeks but I was booked in late due to no appointments.

Very nervous excited
