Oh Kate I hope it drops. My BP always shoots up when I'm tired or anxious Sad

Congrats to mamapo, acj and Alison. Sorry there were a few traumatic births but glad you still had a positive experience mama and your Ds sounds adorable Alison.

For those still waiting i know its hard when ppl having babies around you but honestly make the most of it ... very grateful but v sleep deprived here. And Anna has had slight temp, cluster feeding (on 3hrs off 5hrs ouch). Thought I'd do quick birth story now while its my turn for staying up watching her...

So arrived for induction 6pm Thurs evening. Was monitored and checked, told baby low but cervix very posterior and hard to reach. Was given prostin gel and told to lie down for another hour around 9pm. Had a few cramps which eased when I was able to get up. Watched movie on dh iPad for another couple of hours through more mild cramping.

Midwife came in at 2am. I had a mild contraction while she was there and she gave me paracetamol and sleeping tabs which I didn't end up taking. Still not reg contractions and v manageable. MW surprised not more happening but said get some sleep. Dh asleep by that stage so i lay down with TV on, things seemed steady tightenings continued but not really painful, prepared myself for another long one ...

Then painful pop, waters broke everywhere and I woke dh as I knew I had to have strep b antibiotics ( they managed cannula in the end in 6th attempt!) Cue two incredibly painful contractions on top of each other as mW got anti bs ready. I ran to loo as thought I needed to poo but realized actually I needed to push ! Screamed for mW, suddenly everyone appeared helped me back on bed, was checked and fully dilated and told I could push. Begged for gas and air (brilliant stuff) and then started pushingv with next contraction. Baby born about 15 mins later.

Very diff experience to last time. No time for anytjjng like epidural (last time waters broken manually and the same sort of instant unbearable contractions in top of one another which led to epidural). I felt everything so could time pushing with contractions which I think helped me to slow down and stretch out and not tear (yay!!) Despite size of anna, just shy of 9 lbs.

All in all very very positive induction and on reflection I wonder wtf would have happened if my waters had broken naturally at home ... eek!

As no time for antibiotics they are monitoring Anna for group b strep but otherwise all good.

Hope to hear more baby stories soon xx

Eggs lots of trouble settling here too ... in fact whole ward of crying babies ... midwives said something in air ... Hmm helpful. We are wrapping (not great as hot here though), dummy (not really taking it yet though), and feeding (sigh). Glad the car works!

Lovely story walnut Smile

Sorry you're feeling down kate at least you didn't have to stay in, a nice weekend with your boys will do the trick Smile

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 07/12/2012 19:22

walnut in glad all ended well. Shock at how quick it all happened after your waters went! I'm praying for a quick induction.

Honeycantthinkofanxmasnickname · 07/12/2012 19:41

That sounds great walnut. That pop when the waters go is so weird!

SpottyTeacakes · 07/12/2012 19:57

I didn't get a pop just a very wet bed! I'm also Shock at how quick it was walnut!

EggNogMichelle · 07/12/2012 20:04

Wow Walnut that is quick! It might sound weird, but the feeling that tells you to push I found amazing, I couldn't believe how overwhelming it was. Shame it's gone now I need to be pooing, how long after birth did people have their first poo? I'm a bit anxious at the prospect of it Blush

Honeycantthinkofanxmasnickname · 07/12/2012 20:41

I needed one about a day and a half after eggnog but held off till about 2 and a half and it still hurt like absolute hell that was all down to the delightful piles though - other than that t was fine Wink

ellliebelle · 07/12/2012 20:41

kate hope bp comes down soon :(

CODwidow · 07/12/2012 20:45

Hormonalhell · 07/12/2012 21:20

Fab birth story walnut how quick tho!! Bet u was in shock Grin

Walnut8 · 07/12/2012 21:43

I think I'm def still in shock hormonal! I keep saying silly things to dh like "but I just got up to go to the bathroom and a baby almost fell out!" [Shock]. I hope it s positive story for anyone who has had ashitty labour experience in the past. Also for those worried about tearing and big babies.

I'm too scared too eggs. They said hold a pad against perineum to stop that "everything's going to fall out feeling" ...I don't really need to go yet anyway

A just like her sis. Only way to settle is in bed between mum and dad ... grr

pmgkt · 07/12/2012 21:48

Ok I an now on a ward as I have to stay in. I have excess fluid so the baby is now in an unstable lie. I have been warned if my waters go I must pressed the emergency button as it could effect the cord, and I would be rushed in for section. Goodness knows how long I will be in but I should know more in the morning after rounds. Typically its the weekend that my ds is over 4 hours away at a stag do. Father in law has been great though and been with me most of the day and Mil has had ds1 and the dogs. Nightmare.

Honeycantthinkofanxmasnickname · 07/12/2012 22:09

Oh pmgkt thiking of you

Walnut8 · 07/12/2012 22:11

Oh no pmgkt! How bloody awful. Are they hopibg contractions will push lo in place b4 waters go? When are you actually due
Can dh get home??

brooke89 · 07/12/2012 22:26

Lovely story walnutSmile
Hope your bp comes down kate
Thinking of you pgmt

brooke89 · 07/12/2012 22:34

Quick question ladies - does mucus plug have to be green with blood? I've just been to the toilet (tmi for
Late at night) and looked like white snot - almost stringy? Could that be it?

Hormonalhell · 07/12/2012 22:35

Its not just discharge is it brooke, I got the white stuff although not stringy really

brooke89 · 07/12/2012 22:39

I'm not sure this looked different - I've had loads of discharge thoughout. This looked like shiny almost like snail trail lol?!

Hormonalhell · 07/12/2012 22:40

pmjkt Shock I would be on tenterhooks all night!! Hope u manage to rest, u gonna need it.

Bet it's more scary without your DP Sad hope u ok

pmgkt · 07/12/2012 22:41

They don't want me to go into labour or break waters as the baby is just spinning around and the risk of breech presentation is to high. In fact in the time I had a scan it turn right around twice and I could hardly feel it. I have quite a small bump compared to last time and they measured the baby as 6lb 4 now so not sure where its all hiding. Dh will come home if they decide to section me tomorrow but otherwise not much point. My mum comes tomorrow and will bring in ds1.

Hormonalhell · 07/12/2012 22:42

Ha ha at snail trail !! Well I'm not experienced on plugs, never seen mine.

Hormonalhell · 07/12/2012 22:44

I'm surprised it not painful baby turning tho, u must have very strong muscles!!! I grimace every time he scrapes his hands, knees, feet and elbows along my tummy walls Grin think I'd pass out if he flipped over!!

CODwidow · 07/12/2012 22:45

brooke your 'plug' is like snot, thickish and stringy. It can be whiteish, clear or tinged with pink or brown blood.

WillYuleDoTheFandango · 07/12/2012 22:49

Goodness me pmgkt I hope everything is okay.

What a lovely birth story Walnut thanks for sharing.

I have had the stringy clear stuff brooke I presumed it was little bits of plug coming away.

Nothing doing here, the biggest excitement today came when I noticed I made the Christmas name change shortlist Im getting thrashed but I am stupidly thrilled to be on there. sad
