Oh Kate I hope it drops. My BP always shoots up when I'm tired or anxious
Congrats to mamapo, acj and Alison. Sorry there were a few traumatic births but glad you still had a positive experience mama and your Ds sounds adorable Alison.
For those still waiting i know its hard when ppl having babies around you but honestly make the most of it ... very grateful but v sleep deprived here. And Anna has had slight temp, cluster feeding (on 3hrs off 5hrs ouch). Thought I'd do quick birth story now while its my turn for staying up watching her...
So arrived for induction 6pm Thurs evening. Was monitored and checked, told baby low but cervix very posterior and hard to reach. Was given prostin gel and told to lie down for another hour around 9pm. Had a few cramps which eased when I was able to get up. Watched movie on dh iPad for another couple of hours through more mild cramping.
Midwife came in at 2am. I had a mild contraction while she was there and she gave me paracetamol and sleeping tabs which I didn't end up taking. Still not reg contractions and v manageable. MW surprised not more happening but said get some sleep. Dh asleep by that stage so i lay down with TV on, things seemed steady tightenings continued but not really painful, prepared myself for another long one ...
Then painful pop, waters broke everywhere and I woke dh as I knew I had to have strep b antibiotics ( they managed cannula in the end in 6th attempt!) Cue two incredibly painful contractions on top of each other as mW got anti bs ready. I ran to loo as thought I needed to poo but realized actually I needed to push ! Screamed for mW, suddenly everyone appeared helped me back on bed, was checked and fully dilated and told I could push. Begged for gas and air (brilliant stuff) and then started pushingv with next contraction. Baby born about 15 mins later.
Very diff experience to last time. No time for anytjjng like epidural (last time waters broken manually and the same sort of instant unbearable contractions in top of one another which led to epidural). I felt everything so could time pushing with contractions which I think helped me to slow down and stretch out and not tear (yay!!) Despite size of anna, just shy of 9 lbs.
All in all very very positive induction and on reflection I wonder wtf would have happened if my waters had broken naturally at home ... eek!
As no time for antibiotics they are monitoring Anna for group b strep but otherwise all good.
Hope to hear more baby stories soon xx
