Hmmm bump feels a bit numb at the top Hmm anyone had this?

JoJoB77 · 05/12/2012 22:12

HelloSmile

I've been lurking but no time to post without having a mammoth read through to catch up!

Sorry to be so impersonal but Big congratulations to all the new arrivals!

I had 38 week check with midwife today, all good apart from measuring a bit small but she wasnt concerned Confused

brooke i get the shooting pains in my cervix every evening, it really stops me in my tracks sometimes it can be so painful. God knows what he/she is doing in there to make it so painful, i keep thinking of tiny little nails scraping my cervix -makes me shudder!

Good luck to all those who are feeling the beginnings of something and to thise who are being induced. Exciting times ahead!

FriendofDorothy · 05/12/2012 22:13

Yeah I have. I think it is something to do with the nerves. I often get tingling at the top of my bump.

yuletopian99 · 05/12/2012 22:14

No numbness here. Have been having the insides kicked out of me for an hour. Only 38+5 and quite happy for him to come now!

StrawberrytallCAKE · 05/12/2012 22:14

Congratulations pru and everyone else who has had their babies! Sorry I've gone missing again...have had Internet issues and been feeling generally crap.

So I'm being induced in the morning and absolutely scared out of my mind...even though my last induction was wonderful. Eek.

brooke89 · 05/12/2012 22:17

Good luck strawberry

Euureghhh jojo that made me shudder! I was hoping rather that it being hands/nerves cervix might be dilating

JoJoB77 · 05/12/2012 22:20

Good luck for tomorrow strawberry Smile

Yes i hope its cervix slowly dilating too brooke, mine must be at least 5cm now after tonight Grin

emilyeggs · 05/12/2012 22:22

strawb how exciting!

Hmm little nails! Know what you mean

brooke89 · 05/12/2012 22:24

Am I being silly then... If your cervix is dilating then would loosing plug/waters be soon after?

Cookiesandcoffee · 05/12/2012 22:26

Congratulations pru another lovely name.. and exciting strawb best of luck.
Had pains/tightenings earlier for a while I stupidly did get a bit excited. But now zilch. Off to bed to sulk.

FX more babies by the mornGrin

JoJoB77 · 05/12/2012 22:30

No not being silly but i think the cervix slowly thins first before it starts opening. I was 4cm dilated when i arrived at hospital with DD, i'd already lost some of my plug before that but they still had to break my waters.

I'm not really sure what to expect this time round, apart from a quick sneeze and baby slides out. Grin

Clarella · 05/12/2012 22:38

Oh wow strawberry - I think I get your fear though - been soooo dithering over whether right thing to do to get induced on Friday or Monday! You have been loosing plug for a while though? And so is your cervix further on too? It really sounds like it should go smoothly?
And really nice to hear your last was wonderful! Can you try and focus on that hon?

My only fear is this cervix no where near but then could be same on Monday. And tbh natural or induction really seems to have no bearing on outcome (as in assisted , c section etc) in my.anecdotal collection of birth stories. Gonna see mw tomorrow. I just don't want to wake up on Friday thinking oh my god this was the worst decision ever!

brooke89 · 05/12/2012 22:42

Lets hope so jojoSmile guess mw will be able to see when she attempts sweep next week

Clarella · 05/12/2012 22:43

I sort of wish the choice wasn't offered. Went for a stomp and sob in the (deep) snow earlier before going for a meal with Dh that we can't really afford. Even the waitress had views on bloody induction (asked me if had a date ffs!) But by the end we were laughing about it - this time next week I'll wonder what the fuss was about!

yuletopian99 · 05/12/2012 23:03

That's the trick - just think one way or another you'll have your new little person next week! I am a bit tired of this now, and no hope of a definite cut off till Dec 29th I would think... Envy

WillYuleDoTheFandango · 06/12/2012 02:20

Good luck Strawb

Slightly early for the 3am club tonight, not managed to sleep yet. Awful heartburn tonight. Just had 2 indigestion tablets, gaviscon and some milk hope that sorts it.

2blessed · 06/12/2012 02:33

willyule, sorry about the heartburn. Any of those remedies kicking in yet?

Good luck strawberry

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 06/12/2012 02:35

Good luck for tomorrow strawberry

I'm up with insomnia again. Have been useful and clicked the worlds most unreliable boiler on though, so the house may be warm by the morning Hmm

Hormonalhell · 06/12/2012 02:38

I'm here again too stacey painful contractions every 4 mins since 12 ish, trying to ignore them tho Sad just fed up now

Honeycantthinkofanxmasnickname · 06/12/2012 02:41

Hi all. Sorry there is so little sleep going on here at the min. Sounds like lots of you are gonna be less tired with a newborn than when pregnant!

Good luck strawb

WillYuleDoTheFandango · 06/12/2012 02:42

Hope it leads somewhere for you Hormonal

Nope Blessed not too bad sat up on the couch but the second I lie down it comes back with a vengeance

The insomnia sucks too Stacey, I couldn't have the boiler on though. I'm so hot at nights

Hormonalhell · 06/12/2012 02:54

Not too bad with heartburn willyule this time, had it with DS tho'

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 06/12/2012 02:55

willyule well I think it turned off around lunchtime so it's pretty damn cold ATM. Lol thermostat is set to 17 and I doubt it'll heat to that by the time the kids are up useless piece of crap boiler

Hormonalhell · 06/12/2012 02:56

Baby dancing around my tummy tho and it's hurting me more Angry

God I hate being a moaner Sad

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 06/12/2012 02:57

honey I keep telling people I'll get more sleep when baby is here and they laugh. But considering I'm spending 4-5 hrs each night wide awake, I don't think it will be a hard task!
